Sugar creek is a fun little town to visit it has the Worlds largest cuckoo clock, we did some sight seeing in this Amish community ๐Ÿด The clock was Featured on the cover of the Guinness Book of World Records. The clock is over 23 feet tall and 24 feet wide. Every half hour, a cuckoo bird pops out and then you hear Swiss polka music playing as the band emerges and a couple dances. Sugarcreek is also known as the โ€œlittle Switzerlandโ€ ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ญ

I absolutely adore the cuckoo clock and I'm so glad we got the opportunity to see and hear it. It is by far my favorite site to visit. It plays every hour and half hour. We arrived within minutes of it starting to chime/play and I was able to record it. The band comes out and they play polka music for about 3.5 minutes. Well worth the visit. We loved it so much we bought t-shirts of it. ๐Ÿ˜„

I have to disagree with majority of reviewers. To put this in perspective, Iโ€™m in my 30s. It was pretty underwhelming to be honest. I guess a 15 minute drive is alright to see it but anything more than 30 minutes and you may be disappointed. Honestly, my wife and I enjoyed seeing the other things around town more than the clock itself. Itโ€™s just not a โ€œbigโ€ as you may think it would be. We had arrived just after the 30 minute mark when it goes off so we returned 25 minutes later to see the next โ€œshowโ€ Once the clock started with the music, my wife and I looked at each other and we walked away.. within 60 seconds. Follow me for honest reviews and cool photos of the Ohio area and beyond.

This was so cute. Even both of my kids enjoyed it. We arrived at 6:45 pm. Took some pictures with all the old items next door and enjoyed the beauty of the area. My 11yo son was bored and ready to leave until the clock hit 7:00 the clock goes off on the 30 and on the hour. It was so adorable to watch. Even he took a video. Everything was closed around it at this time. Wish we would have went earlier I was told there is a nice little diner right there.

Set in Sugarcreek Ohio this cuckoo clock is awesome. Chimes on the half hour and has a song number play with the little German figures from the clock play & dance. There is a lot in walking distance including a quilt shop, local museum, fairy garden shop (with more quilts!) and bulk food store with great snacks & more!

Beautiful Place to stay. Very clean. Updated and nice Breakfast area. Loved the sliding door access from our room to the car parked outside of it. Loved it and give 5*

Great experience. Chimes every 30 minutes. Is awesome for family photos. And there are several shops within walking distance. Very much worth your stop. The clock is very well maintained and is very beautiful for photos of the flowers as you wait for the show.

Good for kids to see the music every hour or every half hour Itโ€™s mentioned worlds largest cuckoo ; Iโ€™m looking for someone to confirm it ;) as it wasnโ€™t cuckoo to me and the music was more like Toys Rโ€™US music ๐ŸŽถ Iโ€™m sure kids will like it ; parking is limited nearby Good one time visit with family for a weekend trip

Every half hour there is a cute little show to the Bratwurst Polka. My kids had a great time dancing along and it was the sweet highlight of their Sugarcreek experience. There were no others at 7pm and we had the place to ourselves. The views around this were amazing too.

The World's Largest Cuckoo Clock is a 23-foot-tall and 24-foot-wide clock located in Sugarcreek, Ohio. It was built in 1972 and was featured on the cover of the Guinness Book of World Records in 1977. The clock chimes every half hour, and a cuckoo bird pops out and then you hear Swiss polka music playing as the band emerges and a couple dances. The clock is a popular tourist attraction and is located in the center of Swiss Village, a Swiss-themed area of Sugarcreek.

You really have to experience this! There are no tickets needed. The clock runs rain or shine until it's designated time. Such a cute little town to support this unique clock.

"Featured on the cover of the Guinness Book of World Records in 1977, the World's Largest Cuckoo Clock is located in the center of Swiss Village in Sugarcreek. The clock is over 23 feet tall and 24 feet wide. Every half hour, a cuckoo bird pops out and then you hear Swiss polka music playing as the band emerges and a couple dances." I drove about an hour to see this clock, and wasn't disappointed, in combination with the near by area and shops. I did expect a little more, as the display is short lived and a little less of a spectacle then I imagined, but, neat, nonetheless. I wouldn't drive from to far away, solely for the clock, but, it's a historical, record holding, cool thing to lay claim to seeing if you're in the area.

Pure tourist cha-cha, but a great piece of Americana. Honoring the Swiss heritage of early settlers, the clock is very simplistic. Especially on a 100 degree day. But it is fun.

We dropped by to see the clock. If you're near here it's worth seeing. I'd love to say the clock is great, but it is just ok. It goes every 30 minutes, but the full show is on the hour every hour.

Todays ride took us to Sugarcreek. Such a pleasant and friendly town. We shopped and explored many of the local shops. The Amish Museum and Hanger 81 is a must visit and it's free.

Such a great thing to see. Every half hour, the clock "comes alive".

  • 5/5 Victoria L. 9 months ago on Google
It plays every little while, I think every 30 minutes, we only had to wait maybe 15 minutes and I had time to run to Esters bakery right next door. The donuts...omg. so good. The Swiss cheese buckeyes, whew.

  • 5/5 Ron A. 2 years ago on Google
Definitely worth the ride. Beautiful country around here. We will have to come back when it's open. Sure was nice that someone saved it when the restaurant closed. I remember when it was the rooftop attraction.

In today's world of on-demand, over-the-top entertainment a visit to the World's Largest Cuckoo is a charming, family-friendly offering that transports the visitor to a Swiss village full of friendly people. The simplicity of the main attraction draws crowds of smiling spectators as the wooden characters cast their spell while celebrating every hour and half-hour. From Esther's bakery to antique shops to the village museum, there's something for everyone to enjoy.

Beautiful little town. I wish we would have got to visit when all the little shops were open. We got there after 5:30 pm on Labor day. We stayed until 6:00 pm to watch the World's Largest Cuckoo Clock!! Very nice! You can tell a lot of hard work went into all the moving figures!! Glad we got to see it!

An Ohio gem! Beautiful cuckoo clock, sounding every hour and every half hour mark. The attraction is well maintained. There is ample parking available nearby. The drive through the countryside is beautiful as well. Highly recommended.

This is so much fun! Put a little Swiss ambiance in your day. Makes you want to practice your yodeling. Break out a tune on your Swiss Mt Horn. Anybody have wooden shoes? Swiss chocolate? Some Edelweiss growing in the garden?!

This was a quaint little town with a fun landmark. We travel for work, often in a van and it was a fun stop for dinner, a stroll, some photos and a place to relax for a bit after driving all day. Worth the stop. There are some unique shops in town too, and we enjoyed the pub for dinner and beer as well.

Check if itโ€™s working they close it obviously for winter! Clock is big for sure! I canโ€™t believe Iโ€™m going to say this, but Iโ€™ve actually seen other very large cuckoo clocks before. This one is quite plain in comparison. Iโ€™m not gonna take away from its purpose though and the area to come to is nice. It should be obvious, but Iโ€™m gonna go ahead and say it. โ€œ donโ€™t come to this area on Sunday.โ€youโ€™re coming into Amish territory, you forget that they follow through with regards to Sunday being a day of rest, and because of it, nothing is open, except for convenience services.

  • 5/5 Anna P. 11 months ago on Google
Located in a pretty place. If you want to explore the local shops, do not go on a Sunday as everything is closed. The clock is fun to see, especially when the music starts.

  • 4/5 Josh G. 11 months ago on Google
Pretty neat. Sugar Creek is a cute little town. I would caution visitors to try and visit Thursday, Friday or Saturday. These days seem to be when all businesses are open in Amish country.

  • 4/5 Deb S. 8 months ago on Google
Or goes off e wry 1/2 hour. Quite entertaining. This is on a corner of the block. Well keep area. The little Swiss village is about 3 blocks of shops. The Swiss grocery store is about 3 blocks away, that is worth a stroll thru. Also the visitor's center / free museum is a fun visit. A highlight of trip.

My wife never seen the world's largest cuckoo clock and it has been a family staple in my life growing up to visit it once in a while with my grandparents. So I thought it was time to see it once more after nearly 18 years. My wife had a blast watching it play and was a great experience!

Cute roadside attraction. No cost to see the world's largest Cuckoo Clock. Plenty of street parking too! Many cool shops in walking distance to the Clock. Cheese shops too! ๐Ÿ˜‹

Drove an hour from where I was staying to see the worlds largest cuckoo clock in the little alpineish town. Disappointed that the collectors shop was closed because I really wanted a stein. There is another shop on the street that is amazing it has the coolest stuff. The cuckoo clock did not cuckoo, it had they little band that played for 3 minutes but I never heard nor saw the bird pop out and cuckoo. Now the little town over all was just ok but the surrounding area has a bunch of great stores selling wares.

Neat spot in downtown Sugarcreek. Clearly lots of TLC went into the making of this edifice. Quaint bakery next door, clip clipping buggies rolling down the street. Worth a stop.

  • 5/5 David S D. 7 months ago on Google
We were here on a Sunday and nothing was open. On the flip side, there are not a whole lot of ppl there, and so no crowd. It's a nice little side trip but would need to stop by during the week to see the stores in town.

This is 8 miles west of rt. 77 exit. Nice paved road. It is in Sugarcreek, Ohio. I saw a sign with "Little Switzerland" on it while driving to the clock. I saw this when a child. It chimes on hour and half hour. Two benches are angled in front of it. Slight hilly road and sidewalks to the clock. It was fun to see it again. But my memory was the bird came out to chirp, the bell was hit by the gnome. But nice to see the musicians arrive and the dancing lady twirl. A few small shops in town, but not open during the week. Very clean town with parallel parking spots.

  • 3/5 Justin S. 3 years ago on Google
Is the clock turned off over winter? We arrived before the half hour, and started till after the hour... But the clock never went.

I feel like the right to hold the title of "Worlds Largest Cuckoo Clock" requires that it is in working order at all times. Otherwise, the clock is pretty cool and a great photo moment.

I visited this place on a deserted December night in 2020. It was nicely decorated but the clock was not functioning. Nice place in a historic town

  • 5/5 Dorothy L. 3 years ago on Google
We didn't get to go to all the stores because we were a little late. But we did get to see the Cuckoo Clock. It goes off every half hour, so be sure not to miss it. The beautiful architecture downtown to go with the Cuckoo Clocks theme, make it quite a lovely place to check out, even if your just driving through.

  • 4/5 Ralph c. 3 years ago on Google
Very cute. We went there in the winter, so it's not running. I'm sure it's even better when it's working. Might have to make another visit so we can check it out when it's functioning.
