We stayed at the lodge to see the wonderful Christmas displays and for the kids to do some winter swimming. Sitting by the fire with family surrounded by a dozen wonderfully decorated Christmas trees is very enjoyable. The restaurant was decently priced even if a little slow. Deer were laying just out the restaurant window. The room was decent enough. We had a loft room which could use some updating but was still a nice stay. I am sure those rooms get abused by all the kids. The lodge was very busy this stay which was a big bummer but I guess it could not stay a secret forever. The pool was crowded but other than that you did not feel crowded in the huge lodge. We ventured out for some walks and fishing with the moderate weather and enjoyed the weekend.

One of the few state parks that have a lodge. Has almost any amenities that you might need or want. The beach area has been updated with a new playground and removal of the old bathrooms and concession stand. The areas that I was at were very well maintained.

Once again, I love Ohio State Parks. This is now my number 3 of Ohio State parks. The sites are very spacious, several trees, which are great for hammocks, and several water stations. This is one of the most kid friendly parks I have seen. The trails are very nice and have great scenery. There are several cabin sites that adjourned a camper site. Perfect for families that want to get out with people who don't own a recreational vehicle. The only con is there are no full hookups. Oh and the deer are plentiful.

Really cool place. Not sure why the water was so low, maybe normal for the winter. Disc golf course was really nice but had quite a few fallen trees that needed cleaned up.

Not well maintained. Bathrooms and showers are filthy. Certain ones are better maintained. There is NO enforcement of 10pm QUITE TIME. Prices are high considering there's only a few sites with full hookup. Most sites are power only. $31 a night! Other than that, it's been okay. I needed a place to recoup after a long journey and I'm used to staying at State Parks. Just not a accommodating as I had hoped. The "camp hosts" seem useless and just here for the free camping.

Deer Creek State Park is only 5 minutes from our house, but by far one of our favorite weekly spots. My husband and I love to visit the park whether for a kayak trip, or a hike in the woods, or even a walk on the road around the park! This is beautiful, safe, and well taken care of! Not to mention our dog loves it! We also have had great experience with the lodge when we needed extra room for family gatherings! Very friendly and efficient staff!

One of the nicest Ohio State Park Campground. The sites are large, flat, and shady. Many amenities for families including miniture golf, disc golf, dog park, a large beach, and a campground with many shower houses. The only drawback is that the campground, lodge, and beach are disconnected and require a few mile drive on rural roads between them.

Spent this past weekend (Friday to Sunday) at a cabin at Deer Creek. Honestly I was quite nervous coming into this weekend because I saw so many bad or low ratings regarding this place. But my three sons and I truly had a good time. We hiked a bit & went into town and explored Mount Sterling. We really had a good time and even though the lodge was experiencing some construction we still had a good time and were able to walk around and check the place out. Our cabin was very roomy and comfortable and clean. I see no issues whatsoever that these people are talking about on TripAdvisor and Google reviews. I would recommend this resort. Especially the cabins and lodge.

It was clean and well taken care of. We were there with three other families, and were able to reserve enough in advance to get spots all together in one area. We had an issue on 1 of the sites with the 30amp plug, we let the check in know about it, and a Ranger came out to look at it and fix it within 30 minutes. Great Job!!

First time there we live 100 miles away. It was well worth the trip Great check-in and check out experience. Super friendly housing staff got what we needed when we asked for it with no problem. Excellent restaurant experience outstanding food both nights and service I wish I had caught her name she was great even though super busy the second night. We will come back every chance..... The boys loved the pool, game room, gift shop with more friendly staff. Can't wait to come back!!

I honestly haven't been to many campgrounds and its been years since I've been anywhere else, but this place seemed really nice compared to what I can remember from other places. Campgrounds are well maintained and have a variety of different sites. However, some of the campsites are really close together, which I can see being nice if you are going with a few other people and don't want to get a group campground, but I would have been really frustrated if I ended up being so close to someone else. There are plenty of water and bathroom facilities that are well kept and there are some nice hikes around. Didn't spend much time by the lake, but if you are looking for a nice short family hike with some scenery of the lake, I would recommend the Adena Ridge trail.

It was very peaceful and relaxing. As of the 3rd week of May 2023, they are still doing renovation work to the roof, but the hotel and conference center is fully functional.

Awesome state park. I grew up 5 minutes down the road and when we come home I love to bring my family here to visit. It's great for hunting fishing and just spending the day

Another great Ohio State Park located on a lake. The Campground offers so many things to do. There are hiking trails, playgrounds and an 18 hole disk golf course. There is a Marina where you can rent watercraft. Plenty of shore line for fishing. The roads are paved making for a nice walk or bike ride.

Great Place! Kid and pet friendly. Kept clean for the most part. Rangers on site. Looooove the Lodge! Multiple and plenty of activities for the whole family! Definitely recommend. Would give ten stars if I could.

The trails were still beautiful even in January. The water was gorgeous. Even the snowflakes were fitting as they hit the water like glitter.

It was nice and quiet. I passed out the first night there but I'm pretty sure it was the Best sleep I've had camping ever. I believe I might be able to attribute that I slept on the bottom bunk for the first time ever Trey was not aware of his memory foam no wonder my aunt always called dibs

All the wildlife. A friend and I had lunch at the lodge, a ground hog came up and ate some food but was chased off by a Tom cat. Got those apple bottom deer too, you can tell they are dear to their hearts.

Beautiful campground. I'm not sure why it's so expensive during the off-season. Especially when they don't have winter water available. The website says they have laundry, but the laundry is part of the bathhouses that close for the winter.

We take our RV there often, campsites aren't on top of each other. We love taking the canoe out and there's several trails for hiking. It's also dog friendly.

Deer creek state park campground is one of the best in Ohio. Campsites are big. Wash rooms are super clean. There are lot of options in the playground such as volleyball, puckleball..GoGo. there is also an amphitheater. The camp office cum shop is well stocked and staff is super helpful. Nearby there is beach, marina and dam..its pretty fun camping at this place.

It's pert near nice n all, little too peoply n all fur my taste, the lodge and restaurant is too expensive for a State run facility, but there booked all year soooooo......what eves. Shooting range a bit rough round the edges but convenient, still very beautiful park if it is a little over worked, so to speak.

Absolutely wonderful place to stay. The restaurant has amazing food. The state park is a great place to vacation. The views from a second floor lake view room balcony are relaxing and beautiful. The indoor pool and hot tub are enjoyable. I have stayed here many times starting in the late 80s. Never have I had a bad experience. I only rate 4 out of 5 because the lodge is in need of a full remodel. In no way is the facility dilapidated or gross, I will certainly continue to stay and visit.

Great lake to fish. Very clean. New boat ramp on east side of lake was great. Ramp on west side was a pain because of the sidewalks to tie your boat up were submerged in water making it difficult to load and unload boat solo. Wife and kids enjoyed beach!

Great price for the cabins. The cabins were sufficient, basic minimums for everything, blankets like sandpaper though. It was clean but not exceptionally so. It is pretty isolated and they use that in their food prices at the lodge. Very pricey and limited hours.

Comfortable, clean, peaceful, pool was warm :)) we were there for a conference, the food the hotel provided was exceptional, the servers were quiet and maintained professionalism. Front desk staff was great, and the pizza was yummy and the women behind the counter was welcoming even 15 minutes before closing ! 😁❤️ Only thing I was a little sad about was the fireplace, it was up glowing and beautiful but wasn't putting off heat I love a real fireplace. ( Although I don't know the up keep for one )

Really nice stay. Unfortunately it was during a record snow fall and cold temperature snap and so our room we wanted, a king suite, was super cold and wouldnt get warmer than 55 degrees but we were warned and as soon as we walked in the room we could tell and went back to front desk to get a new room. They dont have any other king suites so we had to get a different room with a smaller fridge but no huge deal. Place is set up nice because there are only two floors of rooms so doesn't seem like it could get super crowded. Restaurant was good- the burger, the chicken sandwich, the pulled pork sandwich, and the chicken ceasar salad were all good, the pies and cakes were not tho, but the view was amazing. The little bar they have has really good brisket nachos, burgers, and the pizza was ok too. A lot of little sitting areas for families to set up and play board games and thats what we did. Even room to bring your vr occulus out and have your family play because you have that much room. Pool was heated enough i guess but sort of cold so takes some mins to get used to but was big enough to have room to throw the football with others around. Temp was too cold to walk trails but scenery is beautiful. Def want to come back

Such a beautiful, quiet spot to relax. The rooms are cozy and the restaurant has great food! I enjoyed a Caramel Candy Apple Martini from the bar this past weekend and it was amazing!! Perfect cozy setting for a nice weekend getaway. 5/5 would recommend checking this place out

My husband and I travel to and camp at several Ohio State Parks (trying to get to all of the parks) and Deer Creek is one of our favorites. The park itself is huge with so much to do; the beach is clean, spacious and beautiful. The lake is great for fishing or for just relaxing beside. There are plenty of play grounds and other activities for kids to engage in and play; plus,we saw several gorgeous picnic areas. We really enjoyed our stay at the campground; everywhere we went, it was clean and well cared for. Deer Creek State Park is a highly recommend place to visit in Ohio; we've already reserved a spot for more time there.

  • 2/5 Zenon F. 3 years ago on Google
For most of our visit there was a pervasive stench of horse manure everywhere. If you didn't grow up with this on a farm or in a farm community it can be unpleasant. Flies continually made it into our cabin (#4), even though we had all of the windows and doors closed, all of the time. The on-off switch was broken on one of the lamps, the management company replaced it with another one, but that one didn't work either, even after we bought a brand new bulb for it. The cabins have street lamps in front of them, makes the fire rings a lot less cozy and pollutes the sky with light that keeps most of the starlight from coming through. We visit Ohio's state parks every fall, this one falls squarely in the do not visit, ever again list.
