I have been going to this watering hole all my life! Very nice park pond fresh water fishing. The water is not beautiful. The park sits on alum Creek. In my pictures the water is up so it looks really murky. There is an area in the park to BBQ and bbq grills. There are basketball courts and it sits on the bike trail really nice park! Dog friendly! Great park! Always supervise children when the water is high. Otherwise very safe and easy to walk across and wade when the water is low!

Nice size park with two shelterhouses and grills. Lots of open space with beautiful trees. Has two basketball courts. Has playground. Easy access to Alum Creek Trail for walking or biking.

There's always a decent amount of people here and they're always nice. People will come to play or hang out with you even if you're not in their group. The basketball courts are always open but they do have a double rim. Good running and open field for football.

In spite of a few rain showers, It was a good day! I hadn't been in Nelson Park in a long time. Our family reunion committee decided to have a family picnic there, since we're not quite out of the pandemic to resume planning large group travels. They apparently reserved the whole park, so there was plenty of room for everyone to spread out. We had a wonderful drama-free day with family.

Now i was told that this is a hood park and not to go, but it is one of my favorites to take my dog to and let run in the grassy area by the basketball courts. They have a trail thay runs all thw way around and through the park. I've never had any problems at this park. The playground equipment is well maintained and the covered pavillions make it nice to get out of the sun or to have and family get together.

Just a quick stop to swallow my lunch, the atmosphere and scenery was great. I believe a family was having a reunion the day I stopped in, it was nice to watch the family gather and enjoy

Giving 4 stars only because of the amount of tables and picnic areas available. If you have a large family and you're try to celebrate this place probably isn't for you.!! You have to get there early as possible to reserve and set up. This park fills fast and what little areas are available are gone to quick. Aside from that it's a nice wholesome park and nature trails are available. So nice and relaxing, perfect spot for trying to be with family, but not having to worry about Covid and other Guests being to close. Be aware of how far you want to go, and where you have walked tho LoL the trails paths run into Alum Creek you could end up miles away and not even realize it.

This place is awesome. I have been there multiple times for grad parties, and senior skip day. It's nice, open, and had a sweet playground. The grille works, and it's right along the river which is beautiful. BUT WE COULDN'T FIND WATER.

Not large and not too pretty. My personal opinion: take the family down the road to Franklin Park instead.

Very nice park. I love that the basketball courts were repaved. I love the King-Lincoln community so it's comforting to see people investing in Black neighborhoods.

Great park, but to many bugs flying around this summer!!!!. The City should go back to keeping that under control for the children and families who enjoy coming.

It was very peaceful. Parking lot in areas usually dirty from people picnicking and not cleaning up after themselves. stop being trifling and clean up after yourself.
