One of the cleanest, well kept parks I've been to. Very safe, secluded and calm. And an insane amount of squirrels and chipmunks that have no fear lol.

I've hiked the trails at Chestnut Ridge before but never really took the time to explore the wetlands area of the park. Today I did and was surprised by how beautiful and well maintained it is.

If you want a beautiful and challenging trail, go here. I did 2.5 miles but walked up hill which equaled out to about 25 flights of stairs. It was mostly shaded and plenty of benches to sit and rest (I needed it lol). Very beautiful and will definitely come back. Note: Pets and bikes are not allowed on the nature trail itself but it did look like there was a path for dogs. I personally love no bike trails so this was very nice.

I wasn't sure how much this park would have to offer being on the smaller side but was impressed with the trails and how clean everything was. There were several animals visible from the observation deck while we were there and the trails we walked were well maintained. The only thing that was a little disappointing was the sign that said we would be able to see downtown Columbus from one of the overlooks but when we got there it was not visible due to tree coverage. I assume it would be visible in the winter though as it was a really gorgeous spot. There is also a playground for the kiddos and a couple of small fishing piers that would be a perfect place to teach a kid to fish. All in all this is a great park.

Compared to other metro parks in Columbus, this one is the worst in terms of signals. There is a map but that kind that is mostly a drawing only and it is hard to find the right paths or trails you really need. There is only one trail for dogs, extremely short and also some parts are not maintained - lots of semi-dark black water and no place to wash the dirt off. Pets are not allowed on natural trails but the one assigned is actually grass. This park is good for just human-alone hikes and for mountain bicycle activities . So I do not recommend it for dogs, but yes for other activities. The overall lack of signs along the entrances and inside the trails is noticeable.

Beautiful place. My husband proposed to me her 19 years ago so it was nice Coming back. We saw a deer on the trail so that was great as well as the expected squirrels and chipmunks!

This was my first time down here! It was amazing! The hike up wasn’t so bad and I’m out of shape! I can’t wait to go back and explore all of the trails.

Fantastic intermediate skill mtb park. Great cross county trails with some advanced features.. There is a great optional jump line at the top of the park that will make anyone smile. This is not close to any stores, so bring what you need to drink or eat.

We love this park! It's is so beautiful! You have several options for the trail. You can take the long trail or cut it short for little legs. We like to walk the trail, see the many look outs then off to the playground. The playground was updated a few years ago and is really nice for the kiddos. It has tunnels, several slides, swings (including one for special needs children), and a natural area with tree trunks. It also features several picnic tables, and is far enough from the pond, but close enough to the bathroom. The park has a rich historical history with many educational checkpoints along the trail. If you love blending nature and play, you will not be sorry you checked this place out!

Chestnut Ridge Metro Park is a gem in the Columbus, Ohio Metro Park system. The park claims to encompass Ohio's first foothill of the Appalachian mountains. I have been there several times with various family members and friends, and every experience of the park has been enjoyable, even delightful. Chestnut Ridge Metro Park has well-kept picnic areas, a beautiful, small lake, and marvelous hiking trails. The hike takes you up and over the ridge. For people with health issues, rest stops with benches abound along the trails. For people who can't bear to be disassociated from their smart phones, cell reception along the ridge top is awesome. πŸ˜€πŸ˜‰ The hiking trails pass through amazing natural beauty. Several overlooks with educational information explain what you are seeing. I highly recommend visiting Chestnut Ridge Metro Parks, especially with family.

This a great little Columbus Metro Park. Nice hiking trails, picnic areas, and a playground. Tonight was a holiday lantern walk on a short loop. The hot chocolate was wonderful! Great staff and volunteers.

The place was pretty legit. It's early in the season right now so it's a little wet a day or two after a rain. This is a more cross country type of trail. However in the back section coming to the front where you park is a decent downhill section. Everything is able to rolled over and you can go at any speed. Def a place to go time and time again. They also have a little area/track out front you can pump around with some small jump offs and jumps.

This place continues to evolve and grow. It's been a few years since I rode here. Love the opportunity to get some climbing in so close to downtown. Then once you are up, the fun begins. From XC to flow, this place has it. Shout out to COMBO for maintaining the trials.

I visited Chestnut Ridge Metro Park yesterday [8-25-2022] for my first time. Since I am a non-driver, I only occasionally leave Franklin County [where Columbus is located]. My friend drove all the way from Sugar Grove [Ohio] to Columbus so that he would be able to pick me up in Columbus, drive me to Chestnut Ridge Metro Park and then back home, and then drive back to Sugar Grove after he had dropped me off in Columbus. My friend had recently read the book, "Idle Weeds: The Life of an Ohio Sandstone Ridge," by David Rains Wallace, who had lived for several years exactly where Chestnut Ridge Metro Park is now located. In response to having read that book, my friend had wanted to enable me to visit that park. Before arriving at Chestnut Ridge Metro Park, we drove past the home of two older friends whose property is immediately east of the southeast corner of that park. They had not been at home at that time; however, I had wanted to be able to at least be able to see their house from the outside. After having officially arrived at Chestnut Ridge Metro Park and after having eaten a very pleasant picnic meal together [during which my friend had read to me a small portion of "Idle Weeds: The Life of an Ohio Sandstone Ridge"], we walked on a one-mile-long "loop path" within the park. My older friends who live near the park had previously told me that "it's all uphill" [which of course cannot be literally true since we had eventually returned to our starting location]; however, I must say that we had definitely walked up and down several steep hills on that "loop path." According to Facebook, "Chestnut Ridge is the first ridge in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains." It had been amazing to be only 25 miles southeast of my home and to see a significantly-different landscape from the mostly-flat landscape [except that the river valleys are not flat] that I am used to seeing in Columbus. If you are looking for a beautiful park near Columbus at which to hike, I recommend Chestnut Ridge Metro Park. But be prepared to walk up and down several steep hills while you are walking on any of the paths.

This park is so peaceful and the trails are very well kept. We almost always see deer and other wildlife. The playground area is great too for our toddler and the pond is well stocked. Great place for the whole family or on your own!

We met our Granddaughter and Great Grandson at the park. It was too chilly for him to play on the playground so we took the trail. It's scenery is beautiful regardless of the time of year. It's a healthy walk up and down the hill top. Our Grandchildren have enjoyed fishing and throwing back the fish in the pond throughout rhe years. One if them caught his first fish here. We always have great times here.

The MTB trail is amazing, really well maintained. The mixed use trail is great for a challenging and rewarding run, or just a hike with the family. Lots to see and do.

It's close to home, but you feel like you are hiking a small mountain. The playground area is well kept, safe, and thoughtfully accessible to all abilities. The ponds are full of bluegill. I love it!
