One of my favorite museums in Paris for the temporary and regular exhibitions. The diversity of the collections is simply impressive. Another interesting side is the architecture of the museum. Last and not least the unique restaurant which is a regular step in every visit I do to this place. The view is stunning, the interior is so rich (ceilings, walls,…). I recommend this place with no hesitation!

This time, I visited the museum only to see the special van Gogh exhibition. I recommend buying a timed ticket in advance for both the virtual show (10 minutes, but very well done) and the exhibit itself. The lines in front of the paintings can be obnoxious, and one has to work one's way through the crowd. It took me about two hours to work my way through the exhibition, but it was well worth it. I rewarded myself by having a nice lunch at the second floor restaurant, which itself is a piece of art with painted ceiling and gilded mirrors.

Really liked this museum. Recommend starting fr the top and going down. The best pieces were up top. It was an Impressionism filled exhibit. Really thoughtful pieces important in the context of french history and art. The cafes were cute as well. We stopped at the one on the second floor since the one on the fifth floor seemed super packed. Recommend getting museum pass for it.

What an amazing museum. The architecture of the railroad station is a stunning setting for a “modern art” gallery. We were visiting on a Sunday so we started early at 10am. By midday the place was getting pretty busy. I’m glad we got the place to Preakness for a couple of hours. The temporary exhibit about the early years of cinema was really eye opening and beautifully presented. I’ve attached some photos of my favourite pieces.

Beautiful museum with many masterpieces but also many yet to be discovered pieces. The floor plan is also sometimes a bit confirming. Queues are long. Even if you come early on a Saturday there will be a wait. Better to book tickets well in advance online. European citizens under 26 are free of charge but can’t buy tickets in advance sadly.

Amazing museum and I don’t really like museums. Recommend a skip the line, timed entry. The queue otherwise is long and in the sun. Set in an old train station, the entrance is worth it just to see the interior. Skip to the 5th floor and see some one of the most amazing collections of impressionist and post-impressionist art in the world. It does get crowded and it is a little warm, but worth it in my opinion.

This is one of my favourite museums in Paris. There are lots of collections across several floors. Expect sculptures, Van Gogh's and a big gift shop. There is a free cloakroom so make use of that and you can pay for audio guides. There are two cafes too and you can easily spend half a day in the museum.

The museum is really beautiful, and there's so much to see – a lot of art and exhibits that can easily fill up your day. However, it tends to get quite crowded, so be prepared for that. It's definitely worth taking the time to explore, though, given the richness of the displays and the diverse range of things to discover.

Amazing place, one of a kind. It's a must for art lovers and just tourists in general. But be prepared for easy 4 hour time here, it's worth it every minute! Eat lunch before visiting the cafe was closed upon our arrival.

One of my favorite tourist spots for a first timer for Paris. This museum was easier to tolerate than the Louvre... I find the artworks in here more elegant and stylistic than the classic Louvre, which is boxy and less ornate and incredibly crowded to even stand being in there for an hour. This museum by contrast was easy to see in one visit and it was extremely satisfying.

Wonderful museum holding paintings, sculptures, and creations of world renowned artists. Definitely don't miss it if you're in Paris. Get the tickets online or Paris Museum pass to skip the long line. We went on a Thursday afternoon and it was way less crowded than the Louvre and it felt easier to stroll the museum more leisurely. Much smaller than the Louvre. We spent around 2 and a half hours here and enjoyed it a lot.

Ha! Things are never like in the movies! Have seen small portions of this museum, 1 or 2 folks pass by as the star sits quietly, contemplating the picture. Yeah, right! Never has happened; I went through the museum on a weekday, and it was fairly crowded. From what I could tell and comments from some folks who have been there before, crowds are the norm. One example is the Mona Lisa, right? I was able to get through a crowd of non-moving folks just standing there. Fortunately, I have long arms able to elevate my arms up high enough to get a job picture. I think. Absolutely a must visit when in Paris! Only note I would add is that you really need days, if not weeks to fully see and enjoy all of this world class museum.

Can this be anything but five stars? This houses one of the greatest collections of art on the planet. What really surprised me is how manageable it is in terms of size. It’s actually possible to do most of the galleries in one visit. I have not expected that, I think it helps that the grand concourse through the center is a glorious open space, filled with statuary that provides a respite from the intimacy of the galleries

The museum is a bastion of impressionism and sculpture history. Converted from a train station to a museum, there are works of many important artists, especially Manet, Monet, van Gogh and Rodin. You don't need to buy tickets online in advance, but if you do, you won't have to wait at all to enter. It is useful to allocate at least 3 hours. Don't forget to take a photo in front of the clock on the fifth floor.

One of the world's great museums, with a phenomenal collection of Impressionist art in an amazing setting. The only museum in Europe that we've returned to twice, to satisfy our souls. Tips: Book your tickets in advance for opening time--shorter, faster lines to enter plus the museum is less crowded then. Headsets are worthwhile. The escalator to the Impressionists (which are on the top floor) is at the opposite end of the building from the entrance and hidden behind a wall. We couldn't find it at first, but there were staff who pointed it out to us.

It does not disappoint. My favorite floor was obviously the fifth but there is so much more as well. I had been reading about these paintings for twenty years but to get to see them in person is so different. It felt surreal and I love the layout of the museum and the friendly staff made it feel all the more dream like to me. Just standing in such close proximity to these beautiful pieces of art, that have inspired people for so many years, it was honestly hard to leave. Luckily there are lots of comfortable places to sit and although it’s a busy place for the most part, we felt like we weren’t rushed or that we couldn’t see what we wanted to see. All of the tags are in English and French, and their are English and other language maps available for the whole museum.

Our most favorite museum in Paris. It's a wonderland if you are a fan of impressionist art. Admire the location of an old train station with its iconic clock aside from all the wonderful art on display from the greats including Monet, Rembrandt, Picasso, and many others. Prepare to spend half a day here if you really want to soak in the museum. Definitely buy tickets in advance for a timed slot if you do not want to spend hours just in queue, especially if you plan to visit during high season. If you are visiting only one museum in Paris make it this one.

Exploring Musée d'Orsay on the first Sunday of the month was a fantastic decision. Not only did we get to experience the museum's world-class collection, but the added bonus of free entrance made the visit even more memorable. The usual entry fee being waived on this day is a thoughtful gesture that allows art enthusiasts and curious minds alike to immerse themselves in the museum's offerings. From the moment we stepped into the grandeur of the building, we were captivated by the architectural beauty that seamlessly blends history with art. The natural light filtering through the iconic clock windows added a touch of enchantment to the entire experience. The layout of the museum is well-planned, allowing us to navigate through the different sections with ease. The vast array of artworks, especially the Impressionist and Post-Impressionist masterpieces, left us in awe. Standing face-to-face with iconic paintings and sculptures that we had only seen in books was an exhilarating feeling. The informative plaques beside each exhibit provided valuable insights into the artist's life and creative process, enhancing our understanding and appreciation. The staff at Musée d'Orsay deserves special mention for their warmth and knowledge. They were more than happy to answer our questions and engage in discussions about the art pieces, making the visit even more enriching. Visiting the Musée d'Orsay on the first Sunday of the month was not only a smart way to save on entrance fees but also an opportunity to connect with art and history on a deeper level. This initiative reflects the museum's commitment to making art accessible to all, and we left with a renewed sense of appreciation for the artistic wonders housed within its walls.

We spent 4.5 hours here and could have stayed more admiring the art. Wonderful mix of paintings from primarily French artists, and lots of sculpture. Big impressionist collection with some super iconic works. We loved floors 1, 2, and 5. It’s a huge museum, so try not to go in a rush. There are big crowds admiring certain paintings, but be patient and you will get your turn to observe and admire.

Great museum. Must visit if you already visited the louvre. Great building as it was a train station before and huge collection of pieces and artworks. Most importantly is to dine at the restaurant with beautiful luxurious decoration and at the cafe where you will be at the back of the building clock.

Such a beautiful museum! Not just the actual works of art, but also the building and the whole design of it! I was thrilled to visit it and admire its art. I would definitely recommend it, it’s not as large as Louvre and you can see all of it in a few hours! Really happy I managed to see it!

Top class museum. Their exhibition on Impressionism is just amazing. They truly manage to tell the story about this era in an exciting and compelling way. Lots of true masterpiece paintings makes the experience unique. Highly recommended. The rest of the museum is also very high quality, however I didn’t have enough time to explorer it. The building itself is worth the visit.

An iconic stop in Paris and you should really set aside many hours here if you are an art history person! The building itself is gorgeous! Spend time getting to see the different floors and if you go in the summer months, go earlier in the day and start upstairs since it gets quite warm inside.

This museum was quite nice. Good layout and diversity of pieces. We got there around 11:30am and maybe waited 10 min in line. They moved the quantity of people quickly and the people working there were nice and polite. They had the art sectioned off so it was easy to walk through and know what you had and had not seen while still moving forward in a full circle. Would recommend to anyone on a trip to Paris.

(Translated by Google) The Orsay Palace in Napoleon was set on fire and burned down in 1871 during the Paris Revolution. Thirty years later, the ruins were demolished, and in two years it was opened at Orsay Station (75m-173m = 13,000 squares. Opened in 1900) for the Paris Exposition, and the first electric locomotive was run (ten years after the Eiffel Tower). ). After that, it opened in 1986 and became the Musée d'Orsay specializing in the 19th century. A museum that will take your breath away and bring you into different times and different styles. It is extremely impressive and the museum itself is just art on its own. Perhaps I'm just a fan of impressionism but I actually enjoyed this museum a lot more than the Louvre. It was much less crowded, had more interesting works, and was a lot less overwhelming to get through. Lots of Monet, Renoir and Van Gogh paintings amongst other great artists and pieces. Plus, the architecture of the building is incredible! Not sure if it's a covid thing but their coat check would not take clothing so the only drawback was being stuck carrying our coats as it was very warm inside.

Amazing museum. But it was frustrating to see that it gets opened only in the afternoon. I am not sure all the timings but yesterday it was only in the afternoon. Too much crowd in these COVID days. I felt very scared about catching Covid. Great pieces of artwork. Well preserved and being maintained. One should not miss the details of how modern Paris planning was done 200 years back. Excellent prototype of Opera house which no one should miss. Again, here too not all the wet works are do not have English explanations against every artwork. Authorities may want to promote French language but not having the details in English shows the authorities very poor vision.

Wonderful, mesmerising, absolutely astonishing museum/art gallery. Well worth the visit, these paintings inspire. Would recommend the audio guide to provide the history and additional detail about the paintings. Do reserve a time slot and make sure that you’re on time for it. Make sure you have several hours to spend exploring this museum. And don’t view the entire museum through your camera lens. Admire the paintings and live in the moment.

If you’re at least a bit interested in French art, it’s definitely a place you should look into. The museum is filled with paintings and sculptures from famous artists. Everything is nicely spread out across the hall, which in itself is already a work of art. The only bad thing I could think of are huge crowds, but if you are fine with it, it’s a great experience.

My #1 museum in the world. I've been to this museum twice only and can't wait to go back again. I am a big fan of impressionism and this place is heaven for someone like me. This museum taught me lots of great painters and their beautiful paintings. Every time I go to Louvre, I feel like overwhelmed but this place just makes me happy. They also have a great French fine restaurant in the museum. You can have a great view of Paris from this museum. Don't miss the chance to take beautiful photos at this museum! Very Satisfied to be back here. It’s second time coming here and it was definitely worthy it. I love how they have different special exhibitions. But this time, Degas & Manet are just.. love it! I honestly enjoyed it. Of course it is very heavy on tourist and school trip.. I think school trips have to be more under control. It can be unpleasant to see 8-10 of kids blocking arts by laying down on the floor to fill in the blank.. It can be hazardous 🥲

The art collection is amazing, especially for any Impressionist lover, which is on the 5th floor so don’t forget to go up there. One of the must see museums of Paris. Not only is it a museum about 19th and 20th century art, it is also a museum about Paris itself, which the artists of that time painted widely and superbly. Start with the far left for a few gorgeous war and mythology paintings, then head to the fifth floor for a delight of the eyes and the senses with the impressionist and post impressionist paintings. Entrance is 14€ for adults.

More than 5000 paintings make up the collection. A definite must see for any fan of impressionist/post impressionist art. The Van Gogh, Monet, Degas, and Renoir were personal favorites. While personally not a fan of Gauguin or Cezanne, there are a number of their pieces that would be worth seeing. Wonderful museum housed in the old train station which retains many of those elements.

Definitely a must go place in Paris. Probably one of my favorite museums s well. It has a large collection impressionist and post impressionist paintings - that of Monet and Van Gogh’s are especially wonderful.

What a Magnificent Place! So much to see! Entering this museum, Beauty looks at you from everywhere, it envelops you and does not leave until the Exit. It was a hot summer day and imperceptibly we spent the whole day here, without ceasing to admire the Beauty around. Everything here is thought out for comfortable walks through the numerous halls: long wooden benches for tired art lovers, a cafe for a light snack, comfortable temperature and very pleasant atmosphere.

So the museum is one of the most important museums in Paris, the art it houses its impressive and you can see many important artists. But… why did they sell so many tickets? It was hard to move from one room to the other, it was super crowded and it was so hard to really appreciate the art, apparently covid is over huh? Tip: go as soon as it opens, maybe that way you’ll see the museum with less people… I went late and was a complete chaos.

The Musée d'Orsay was phenomenal, one of my favorite museums in Paris. Their collection is world renowned and the atmosphere is relaxed for just a nice day taking your time enjoying the art. Not to mention the restaurant inside had one of the best chicken caesar salads I've had, and outstanding service. Plus, the dining room was breathtaking it was like dining in art. I would definitely recommend spending a day at the Musée d'Orsay.

A beautiful museum in a beautiful building, this was our choice of one museum to visit during a short visit to Paris. We knew the Louvre would be overwhelming, so went here instead. Seeing me using a cane, the security guard allowed us to go in the exit and avoid the long line (Very nice of him). We spent a couple of hours exploring the museum and enjoying the great art here. The sculptures in the main hallway are spectacular, and the art in the other rooms were excellent. I completely enjoyed me visit here.

I like this museum better than the louvre especially the beautiful room on the second floor and the impressionist and post impressionist displays. Definitely recommend. It took me 3-4 hours to see the whole museum. They have cute restaurants here too u would have liked to try. Good gift shop! Recommend getting tickets ahead of time.

Stunning, not to be missed museum. Excellent Impressionism collection. Beautiful building in and of itself. Nicely laid out so even when busy it doesn't feel overly crowded. Favorite areas were the main hall and the Van Gogh and Monet displays. Don't miss the Phantom of the Opera displays as well as the under floor diorama of Paris.

    * This museum is housed in a former art deco railway station. * The main exhibition hall is located in the terminal platforms and has a stunning decorated ceiling and outsize clock. * The museum has a brilliant decorative arts displays of furniture and interiors. * The main attraction is the huge collection of French painting from around the Impressionist period. Monet, Manet, Renoir, Van Gogh have dedicated rooms. * The restaurant serves light main meals in what looks like an ex-ballroom.

This is a great museum. So many great paintings to see. If you’re an impressionism fan, you must visit this place. Monet, Degas’s ballerinas, Cezanne, Renoir - all here. It’s probably better to visit in the morning. It gets very crowded and it’s hard to enjoy all the wonderful pieces. Definitely recommend getting a ticket in advance, with a time-slot, if possible. I’m not sure you can book a time-slot with a Museum Pass (I couldn’t so I had to wait in a longer queue), but that queue has a shorter waiting time.

Installed in a former art deco railway station, this museum is worth a visit as much for the building as its contents. The main exhibition hall is renovated from the terminal platforms, keeping its stunning decorated ceiling and outsize clock. The museum has brilliant decorative arts displays of furniture and interiors. But its main attraction is the huge collection of French painting from around the Impressionist period. For a treat, try the sumptuous restaurant serving light main meals in what looks like an ex-ballroom!

Great museum, make sure you book in an advance. We bought a dual museum pass with Musee Rodin which is 1/2 a mile away and well worth a visit in tandem. Go straight through the start and up to the top by fastest means possible then work down. Some amazing art and to get best value 2-3 hours. I would eat elsewhere but there is a nice cafe at the top (by the looks of it - not used or reviewed). A must see museum in Paris.

Very beautiful architecture and multiple floors of art. I visited the Van Gogh exhibit and the impressionist art which were extremely nice! There’s also a clock window in the fifth floor that had a nice view of Paris. Seems like there was a gift shop after every exhibit tho so plenty of places to get souvenirs! Would recommend getting a timed ticket for it though - the line for no tickets seemed extremely long (my friend waited roughly 1 hr to get in).

Arrived around 9:45 on a Tuesday with a Museum Pass and no pre-booked timeslot (I don't believe it's available for this museum). There are multiple lines but if you have the MP, you will need line C1. The lines look daunting but luckily, it only took us about 15 minutes to get in. I probably preferred this museum over the Louvre just because of the sheer size of the Louvre. The Musée d'Orsay is much more manageable. First, it's much less crowded but you just need to go early because it starts filling up after 11. It's also very well organized so if there is a certain artist or a certain era you'd like to focus on, it's easy to find. My favorite was of course Monet and looking at all the impressionist paintings. And I'm not even an art person but I found myself lingering around some of these paintings. We spent about two hours there and saw pretty much everything. We did breeze through some exhibits we were less interested in so I can see an art lover easily spending a half day to full day here. Definitely worth a visit! Even if you don't have the MP.

Very nice! I truly recommend to get at least 3 hours to visit it and an audioguide. Also, get online tickets and skip the line. It took us 13 minutes to enter the museum, not 2 hours like those who were waiting in line to buy them cash.

recommending getting the kids in advance, we were standing in the queue for more than 1 hour. Once you are there make sure you are standing in the right one , as there is one for visitors with tickets with specific timings , a second for visitor with tickets with no specific timing and the third queue for visitors with no tickets. The museum itself from an architecture point of view is a piece of art.

Impressionist Gallery : The architectural parti strives to preserve the unique quality of the existing volume, while establishing a balanced dialogue between natural and artificial light. The intermittent soffits give simple shape to the volume; their effect is to provide a smaller, human scale in the areas close to the works, and then create a more monumental space in the centre. The double-height at the centre captures natural light; the lower ceilings along the edges ensure precise light control at the artworks. The view of the Seine is maintained; this provides an opportunity to catch your breath during the museography itinerary. Seating is positioned on either side of the space. The design aims to transform these "adjacent cabinet rooms" for small format works requiring controlled light conditions. It creates a coherent itinerary through the rooms and gives the drawing department its own identity. The low ceilings and warm, hushed atmosphere help create a direct, special connection between the visitor and the work. The Temporary Exhibition Room on the fifth floor is located in the 380 m² "Salles des Colonnes", which is currently divided into 10 alcoves. The design called for the clearing of all partitions from the room, transforming it into a single large 400 m² space for contemporary exhibitions. The architectural parti aims for the maximum amount of neutral space to allow for total creative freedom for the temporary exhibits. Two existing passages have been preserved at the far south end of the room reconnecting the visitors to the museum circulation. The space is on the top floor; it currently has large amounts of glazing, which the design aims to preserve while controlling the natural light and extending it throughout the room. For even more flexibility and solar protection there is a total blackout system allowing for installations with exclusively artificial light. The space is accessible to the public via the museum's vertical circulation system.

Preserving its heritage as a 19th Century railway station, the Musée d'Orsay is one of the most awe-inspiring museums that I've ever stepped foot inside and offers a rewarding experience for those struggling to prioritise which sites visit while in Paris. Stretching from one end of the building to another, it is easy to feel lost in the arterial corridors and vestibules in the most enchanting of experiences. The views of the museum offered from the upper-levels provide a breath-taking glimpse of the main hall that inspires a moment of reflection before continuing through the large collection of impressionist work. One of the only downsides to the museum is that the layout of the hall invites the viewer to make their own path through the art that creates the potential to miss some pieces of art. I recommend taking the time to absorb everything before moving on.

(Translated by Google) Musée d'Orsay (French: Musée d'Orsay). It is a museum in Paris, France, on the west bank of the Seine. It is based in a former railway station in the French capital, Gare d'Orsay. The museum contains mostly works of French art. It dates from 1848 to 1915, including paintings, sculptures, furniture and fine art photographs. Perhaps the most famous of what is contained in the treasures and rare pieces of paintings of Impressionist art by famous artists such as Claude Monet and Renoir. Many of these paintings were first displayed at the Galerie nationale du Jeu de Paume, prior to the museum’s opening in 1986. The museum building was originally a railway station in central Paris, the Gare d'Orsay. The station was built by CF Paris-Orléans and was completed around the time of the Exposition universelle de 1900, designed by three architects. It was the terminus for trains coming from southwestern France until 1939. In 1939 the station berth was no longer suitable for the long-distance trains that were used on the main lines. After 1939, the station was used for suburban service lines, and part of it became a postal center during World War II. It was later used as a filming location for several films, such as the one based on Franz Kafka's novel "Der Process" directed by Orson Wells. The station hotel "Hôtel Drouot" was closed on January 1, 1973. (Translated by Google) It is a must-visit art museum if you go to Paris, and it has many works by Impressionist painters. You can see works by Van Gogh's famous works such as Arles' Starry Night and Self-Portrait, Arles' Gogh's Room, and Dr. Paul Gachet. We have a lot of Gogh's works that you would have seen anywhere, and these works are very popular, so I recommend going to see Gogh's works as soon as you enter the Orsay Museum. You won't have time to look around from the first floor! You can also see famous works such as Auguste Renoir's Moulin de la Gallat's prom, the countryside prom, and girls playing the piano. The ball of the Moulin de la Gallat stands out because it is a large-scale work, striking the impressionist painting that occupies the entire central wall. As it is a masterpiece of Renoir, it is a work that many people like. You can also see many works by Claude Monet, who led the heyday of Impressionism, including the Rouen Cathedral series and the Haystack series, as well as many paintings of the gardens Monet cultivated while staying at Giverny in his later years. You can also see works related to training. It has not only Monet's later works, but also the first half of her works, so you can see how Monet's expressions have changed over the past 50 years. Edouard Manet, also known as the father of the Impressionists, can see Olympia, a balcony, and a boy playing the flute. I remember that Olympia was on the first floor, and the balcony was on the fifth floor, or it was on the top floor. Even if you are the same painter, your work may be placed on different levels depending on the period, so if you know where the work of the painter you want to see is located, you will be able to squeeze the flow more efficiently. An architectural transformation of a former railway station into a museum known for its Impressionist paintings. Situated on the Left Bank of the River Seine, the Gare d’Orsay was built in 1900 to cater to the huge influx of visitors expected at the Paris Exposition in the same year. It was the world’s first all-electric rail terminal; because there was no steam circulating within, the architect, Victor Laloux, was able to house the station in a huge enclosed vault of iron and glass. Sadly, the station had a limited lifespan, as its platforms were short, and by 1939, it was only running suburban services. The threat of closure loomed large. There were plans to demolish the building and erect a hotel in its place. However, building permission was denied due to a public outcry, and the station was placed on the Inventory of Historical Monuments in 1973. A new lease of life. While the station lay empty, it was used as a car lot, a film set, an auction house, and a theater. By the late 1970s, work on its transformation to a museum was underway. An architectural firm, ACT Architecture, transformed the building, while the Italian architect and designer Gae Aulenti created the new interior. The museum was laid out on three levels. The great hall contains the central nave and the terraces on the mezzanine, which open out into further galleries at the side. The top level was installed above the lobby. The various levels were connected by glass walkways behind the main clock. Key features, such as the iconic clocks, were retained, while others were revamped. The decorative rosettes in the vault, for example, were turned into air-conditioning vents, while the station’s former buffet has become a bookstore. The museum, which opened to the public in December 1986, focuses on artworks from 1848 to 1914, one of the most fertile periods in French culture. Uniquely, it encompasses all branches of the arts—painting, sculpture, photography, architecture, and the decorative arts.

First Sunday of each month free! So definitely go if you have the chance. A must-visit if you are a fan of Van Gogh, Cézanne, Manet, Monet, Gauguin, Degas. This single museum holds so many of their masterpieces, it is hard to overstress. Get advance tickets and go there in the morning. It took us a whole half-day to roam around without a break. Also the line was definitely shorter then. Also, get the audioguide. The information next to the painting are minimal and mostly in French. If you are really keen to know about the paintings and leverage the whole experience imho - an additional €5 is definitely worth it.

Of one of the over 50!!! museums that Paris has to offer, I'd suggest you not miss the Musée d'Orsay. What used to be the old train station Belle Époque, Gare d'Orsay, this converted museum is mesmerizing. With its two huge clocks & view located on the Left Bank overlooking the Seine you can almost forget you're there to look at art. From Monet to Manet, Whistler's Mother, there's many well-known (& of course lesser known) artists to experience while strolling the gorgeous halls of this fabulous museum. On a side note, if you're coming to Paris & are planning on visiting multiple museums, invest in the Museum Pass - it's worth it. Please be safe in your travels & take care.

Super nice place itself... As I know it used to be a Train Station, and it just took seconds to realize it's splendor and grace with an enormous watch. Any beautiful items are found inside, beginning from the very first Enlightening the World statue (Statue of Liberty). I do recommend anyone to visit this beautiful museum, and appreciate the basis of the art that made our modern world. Note every first month Sunday the entrance is free for everyone.

Another museum we visited with an audio guide. We enjoyed a late lunch within the beautiful cafe located on the higher floors of the museum and staff we're very polite. There were all sorts of work on display but I was most excited to see Van Gogh (I've visited the other galleries around the world that display his work) There was also a Yves Saint Laurent exhibition. The beautiful clock face was also a highlight. There was a range of bathroom facilities including those for disable access.

Great collection of artists you've always wanted to see and those that you never knew you'd like. Not to mention the fact that it's inside a very cool architectural update to an old train station. If you do a quick run through if say to give it 2 or so hours. If you really want to see every inch of everything, then you'd probably better plan on 4 (or more if you like to linger).

A great art adventure. This is such an educational and inspirational place to visit. Be sure to see the Impressionist highlights on the upper level and don't miss the Van Goghs - off in a corner. Yes there is a starry night painting. This converted train station is a magnificent space that is huge and then divided into very intimate galleries on the sides of main space. There are four place to eat: from a fancy restaurant to two cafes, and another spot that is casual.

Musee d'Orsay has a lot to offer to those traveling to Paris. We spent most of the day at this museum and took in everything they had on display from different time periods and some of the most renowned artists to have lived. Absolutely gorgeous museum with some of the most important art in French history. Does a really good job explaining how impressionism tied into industrialization and political change in France over the 19th century. Way more manageable and welcoming than the Louvre. Grab a map because it can be hard to navigate around the museum, but the visit is fully worth it.

The Musée d'Orsay has left a lasting impression, with a huge number of paintings and sculptures, including some priceless masterpieces. It is true that there is always a crowd of people wanting to take a picture of a masterpiece and to take a picture of themselves next to a masterpiece, but after waiting up to five minutes, you can approach any painting or sculpture. There are escalators to the upper floors, so you don't have to strain your legs. There are a few cafes with limited menus, but the sandwich and coffee were delicious. As a result, we was very satisfied with our visit.

Muse d'Orsay...if you want to see Monet, Renoir, VanGogh. If you are looking for the Mona Lisa, she is at the Louvre. I highly recommend advance purchase tickets... With only 1 day for art, we chose the Orsay over the Louvre and glad we did. The artistic greats on display both in paintings and in sculpture. Not as crowded as the Louvre and we saw everything within a few hours. Easily accessable via metro, and you can purchase tickets in advance. We didn't do a guided tour but could see how it would have been nice for some detailed history on specific pieces.

Everything in the museum is beautiful and interesting. Starting with the building where it is located, its architecture as a former train station adds magic to your visit. The artworks inside are simply breathtaking and quite varied in technique, style and representation. The only downside is that the audio guide you can rent is quite limited, works for very few artworks and its translations for Spanish are not that accurate. Purchase tickets in advance from the museum website and you get a dedicated queue to enter, which is practically empty compared to the other queue.

A great museum, large with multiple floors and covers some of history's finest in Van Gogh, Rodin, Monet etc. You can buy tickets online or get them free if you are 18-26 and an EU citizen. Otherwise if you miss the online sales get there early (around 9:00AM) so you can pickup one at the door for €2 less and pop right in. Lots of gift options inside as well as a restaurant and cafe. The building itself is elaborate and beautiful. If sculptures and impressionist paintings aren't your thing don't go here. Otherwise, enjoy!

Another amazing collection of paintings and sculptures! An unexpected pleasure is to see the final arrangements after the renovations and revisiting various pieces of artwork like old friends. The Monet and Van Gogh exhibits are impressive as were the rest of the impressionism/post-impressionism collections. Wandering through sculpture alley is always fun.

enjoyed d'Orsay more than the Louvre, exhibits are placed in perfect spots to better feel and perceive them. The staff are very friendly (from thousands of questions) and eager to assist as needed. Overall very tranquil environment, (for some reason it was not too crowded during our visit), a decent amount of exhibits and easy to navigate throughout the floors/rooms.

Clearly one of the world's foremost art museums, and not too expensive to visit. Very busy of course, the crowds mostly in the impressionist/post-impressionist galleries. Certainly not so busy in the furniture areas. The main hall, the former station area, is spectacular and worth the visit on its own.

  • 5/5 Marina M. 7 months ago on Google
Probably my favorite place in Paris! Take your time to explore the museum (I would say at least 3 hours). Go early and start at the top floor, because it gets the most crowded. Highly recommend getting the audio guide!

For panting and sculpture vieweing, the spaces and lights are great. The collections, are incredible. There's a coffee inside (great for a brief rest), but there are times that a line of people is formed to get a table. There is a restaurant either, but we didn't go there. The bat thing is that in the most famous paintings, the casual photographers doesn't leave much chances to close observers (and the details are great to watch). VERY IMPORTANT: if possible, book attendance with weeks of anticipation to avoid being sold out at your visit

USK - If you love sketching statues, you're at the right place. The main entrance is full of statues and the light is good. There are plenty of places you can sit and sketch. To eat, they have restaurants, but I got my own food and I was allowed to eat in a hidden spot close to the exit, which felt sad. I hope they create a picnic area. Overall, I had plenty of fun.

Hands down my favorite museum in Paris. Not as overwhelming as the Louvre and has all my favorite impressionist and post-impressionist artists. Easy to see everything in a day, and the building itself is beautiful, being transformed from an old train station. Was also able to get in for free as a student studying in the area

Great selection of art works including Monet and Van Gogh. I spent 4hrs here still not enough, recommend you spend a solid 6hrs here at least if you want to take time to enjoy the galleries and exhibitions. I booked online for free admission when it was available, highly recommended to do so, even if paying for entry is still totally worth it! There’s also a nice cafe in the building, you can sit down and enjoy different view when you are tired of walking.

Outstanding exposition of impressionists , modernists and postmodernists. Don’t skip exhibition of Claude Monet and other fantastic artists at the 5th floor. Collection of sculptures right after entry is simply stunning. It is impossible to list all famous paintings, it just needs to be seen.

If you love the impressionism it is the place, as the original train station structure was built around that period of time. There was a line, yet it didn't take long to get it. Perfect for a short yet fruitful museum with a smaller crowd.

Absolutely beautiful museum! Inside an old train station, there are so many beautiful art pieces to see. We spent a few hours here and enjoyed it immensely. You can see the museum on the Paris Museum Pass or buy online. The security line is the longest part of getting inside.

Definitely recommend buying a ticket as the queue for the people without is wild. To be able to visit on a weekend (Saturday) in November, I had to purchase a ticket 3 weeks in advance. With this, definitely worth a visit, not as crowded as you’d imagine one of the most popular museums to be.
