Update: All this time I didn't even know there is a 9/11 museum inside this park. So I had to let everyone know. it was very overwhelming for me, because it brings too much traumatic memories for me, probably for everyone! That’s why I never did go before to any 9/11 museums..! My first 9/11 museum visit after all this years! The museum is small but they have a lot of original pieces from 9/11. If you ever get a chance please do visit it, just ask someone when you there because it is kinda hard to find. I will post some pictures to show how it looks . I was gonna post pictures but google doesn’t let me lol, so instead I just post a video of the museum for you all..! Update: What a beautiful place, didn’t realize the garden is close on Tuesdays , so by the time I will be able to come back the blooms probably be gone ! One of my favorite find in the Island 👌👌❤️❤️Who knew this place existed 😩Took my parents to show some fall colors but not much luck😭 But still we had a wonderful time.

It is a good course to take a walk with family and friends. A garden with a Chinese feel has to pay $5 for admission. You can enjoy a different walk.

I really enjoyed my time here at the garden. It’s really big. It was a peaceful walk just roaming around. There are little museums, ponds, etc. Most of the places are free to go to. Very family friendly. Only thing is there’s no food inside. The only cafe they have is closed and there’s not much food around.

Really beautiful place. Needs some TLC but for the price it's amazing. A lovely place to visit and typically not too crowded. I wish there were more historical information boards around to find out more about the place or possibly tours. My son loved all the little 'hidden' areas they had

A must see with your own eyes. Beautiful gardens. Great place for a picnic. We enjoyed exploring the grounds.

Beautiful historic grounds, you're likely to walk past a few blushing brides here! Wonderful place for a picnic, a stroll or even just to sit and admire the glorious atmosphere and beautiful gardens. The Heritage Farm has a produce stand every Thursday and Saturday. There's occasionally public and paid events in various sections of the park. A beautiful place full of history and always with things to do!

Pleasantly surprised with this garden. It's a fairly large and has some museums with variety of exhibits on site. Great place for a family picnic.

New Yorkers and tourist's must visit Snug Harbor. I grew up on Staten Island and Snug Harbor was a staple of my childhood. Coming back to S.I after i moved to the city , I had forgotten how calm, seren, and peaceful it is there. Its quite, secluded, and beautiful. Everyone should visit at least once.

So sad this place is so deteriorated, looks like they've never maintained this place. Water is dirty, dont believe in all what you see online. Thought it was going to be similar to Montreal's chineese garden.

Multiple times visited this park on the weekends. It’s a free for public, has a clean and accessible bathrooms, a secret spots for meditation, incredible atmospheric views. There are multicultural and historical Museums, rental facilities for parties, romantic overlooks, bird watching, exploring plants at a local garden. There’s an ice cream shop and a cafe for snacks and drinks. Highly recommend for a weekend getaway and/ or special event.

Absolutely gorgeous place to visit if you go on the Staten Island ferry to view the Statue of Liberty. It was so quiet and surreal. The perfect place to visit to get away from the crowds and relax.

Really nice park. Decent sized for a half day picnic. Buy tickets for the Asian heritage part of the park. Also don’t forget to visit the 9/11 NYFD center.

Fascinating group of 19th century buildings in superb classical style, originally built as an old age home for sailors and opened in 1833. Beautiful grounds and always interesting exhibitions.

The Lantern Festival was bright lighted forms jumbled together in a very small section of Snug Harbors many areas. If this had been planned inside the botanical gardens, perhaps with some more thought, it would have been worth the $30 admission. Be prepared for 20 or more of the exact same flower, duck, cat, fish displayed en masse but in their respective “groups” just heaped onto the south meadow. Super disappointing…

Just an awesome experience. If you want to get away from NYC without leaving come here and bring lunch. There are art museums and old historical buildings on these massive acres. Check out the Andrea Doria exhibition. Unbelievable but can't post photos here so you'll have to go see for yourself 😉 100 percent worth the trip!!!

It is amazing what a team of landscapers can do given the time and tools necessary to make it a tourist attraction once again. Many buildings on site with rich history dating back to the 1800s. Childrens museum and several botanical gardens but it’s Mid June and the duration of neglect is starting to show . Empty a trash can or two …..

We are members and enjoy exploring the park even during the winter month to see what is there. Even though everything is there, it's still a nice walk and a nice way to get your exercise in and see what it looks like without all the beauty. Summer brings out the masses looking for relief from the heat. Today they had vendors selling items on Cottage Row. (July 15, '23). Chinese scholar garden is open for tours. Oh, and Egger's ice cream! Greenhouse in full bloom. There will be music on select Saturdays.

If you own this place, get yourself some ice cream today! SOOOOOOOO MUCH RESPECT FOR EVERYONE WHO HAS A PART IN RUNNING THIS PLACE AND KEEPING IT CLEAN, DIGNIFIED AND ORGANIZED! Best place on the entire island, I felt like I entered an entire new world👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Naturally beautiful!! *I wish I could go into the greenhouse but maybe it's closed due to covid* (Update: I've been here now a lot of times and each time I find some place new and beautiful)

These people do really valuable work in preserving historical artifacts! Their farm is also a great example of modern and innovative sustainability practices. All the guides were really nice too! Shoutout to Tate. Got some great photos here!

Damn, I was not expecting such a beautiful place in Staten Island compared to what we saw as soon as we arrived with the ferry. It feels like an old Greek/Roman garden full of white marble columns and a perfect curated garden. We went there to see a musical and theatre show called "Little Funerals" organized by "InScena!" an Italian organization that brings some of the best artist from Italy to NYC. There's a museum of the navy with old compasses, boats and cabins to realize and understand how it was sailing in the past. Even if you are not into navy stuff, like me, I can assure you that is really charming and interesting! Totally worth it if you will pass by Staten Island, it can be reached easily taking the BUS 40 from the landing spot of the ferry.

Really nice and big park; perfect for a good walk. This place have lots of ponds and it’s a nice place to get away from it all. They have a children’s museum and sometimes events here too. I would recommend anyone to visit here.

Good cultural views, just need to pay $5 per person to go inside the cottage , really love it . Especially when you have a good photographer with a portrait picture, will come back again.

Beautiful surroundings to visit 4 seasons ! Serenity , nature , great walks ….. when visiting Staten Island must stop by Snug Harbor !

  • 4/5 Sheba K. 1 year ago on Google
When you enter Snug Harbor it feels like you've walked into an estate from the 1800s. They have beautifully maintained sprawling gardens. There are so many well kept buildings with seemingly secret winding pathways. Nice place to spend a morning.

Great place to visit. There is plenty of street parking, the entrance is free, and there are plenty of little paths to walk. Beautiful fall foliage.

  • 5/5 Shama D. 1 year ago on Google
One of my favorite places on the North shore, in any season. Winter walks are more bare but the spring summer and fall foliage and blooms make this a pocket of natural heaven. There's events often, however i enjoy it for nature walks amongst the birds and geese, the gardens and history. Visit if youre close. 💫 (this review was in winter)
