Tourist trap ! No information on web page, you need 5 days in advance to apply, so the security told me unfriendly. I've seen no tourists there, just 5 security people doing nothing, sent spontaneous tourists home. Is this 3rd world country? On google maps it was showing open, hey its holiday season.....what are you doing there?

An absolut treasure! Must visit 👌As the Euxinograd Palace is an active national parliament residence you have to inquire about your visit via email (best 1 month in advance) - they will send you the available dates and times for your visit. Normally there are groups of up to 30 people and the guide is speaking Bulgarian and English. Photographing is allowed but only in the park area of the palace, inside of it you are not allowed to take photos. They even have their own winery and you can buy wine and other spirits made there. Highly recommended and worth the money (12 BGN or approximately 6 EUR)!

It is not possible to visit the castle without a reservation for a guided tour in Bulgarian. The website did not mention this clearly! When we arrived the guard was very rude to us and absolutely did nothing to help us out. We then asked if we could make a reservation for the day after, but again he did not help us with that. On the contrary, he sent us an email for a visit 1 week later! Definitely would not recommend this place if you don’t speak Bulgarian!

This place is nothing special if you are an experienced traveler. In my opinion, such a high-level establishment should be kept at the right level and the facade of the residence requires renovation. Maybe it's because I was there in late autumn and it will be refurbished for the high tourist season. Inside the residence, there is nothing mind-blowing and it's really funny that you are restricted to take photos of the rooms. I can only recommend this place if you have extra time and money.

Maybe the place is nice, but unfortunately, we weren't able to visit due to a lack of information on the website or on Google Maps. The place was shown to be open, but it is not open for a walk-up. YOU NEED RESERVATION !!!!! Nowhere on the website was it showing that we needed reservations!!! Someone mentioned recommended reservations, but that is not the same as required. We were here for only three days, and wanted to see something nice. Who in the world wants reserve thinks on vacation like a garden, that is ridiculous. We walked from the hotel just to be told we won't let you in. It was probably empty anyway . The guard was not polite either. I guess they are not interested in customer service at all or any kind of toursis to visit their place. The tickets were 12 Lev per person, and parking is extra. When we went, only the section of the park was opened, not all the way to the sea. If I ever decide to visit Varna again, I won't be visiting this place. I come there to take photographs as I am a photographer and I don't need a tour it should be optional, not mandatory. If people desire a guided tour, it's ok, but the rest should be able to walk around without paying extra. Also, if the full price is 12 Lev per person for full park palace and gardens, then if showing half, it should also cost half ! It's definitely a big disappointment !!!

Another disappointment when visiting Varna. In every civilised european country when you visit a historical site you have two option: either make a reservation or queue for a ticket at the entrance. Guess what? At Euxinograd palace you need a resevation in advance with minimum two days. We arrived at the gate and we were severely grounded by the guards for not making a reservation and of course we were banned to enter. Well done Varna municipality and Bulgarian Tourism ministry. To be avoided!

Cannot enter without booking a Tour!!! On our arrival, we drove the coast up and were looking for all the interesting spots. On arrival the man in the security house was playing on the phone. After asking him if we need to pay to enter, he screemed: READ!! (in Bulgaria they do that a lot, even if there is only written in Cyrillic). The information on the house said, we have to book a tour online. We asked that we come from far away and if we can just enter the garden for 2 minutes. He refused and went back on his phone. People, avoid places like this. That's the only way things like that may change.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! You can’t enter without a reservation, there is no clear info about that until you arrive there and why you can’t at least enter the garden without a reservation when its open? And as you can read in other reviews here, it takes many days to get a spot so the system is completely stupid and a HUGE SHAME for Varna and tourism here :/

We were not able to visit it because it was very short notice and the visiting schedule was fully booked that day but I am adding a photo containing the e-mail of the location and rezervations should be made at least couple of days before the visit, if not even weeks especially during summer season. I will sure visit it next time!

(Translated by Google) Beautiful residence with beautiful gardens! Unfortunately, some buildings are neglected, but there is a chance that they will be renovated soon :) The place is really fabulous! I liked the details that paid attention in the past. I recommend to visit, there is something to learn!

(Translated by Google) I would love to visit the place, but it was not so easy - by recording, sending personal data and checks - the place is still a state residence. How many Italian tourists have sworn at me that I took them there and I didn't know about these works ..... Still, I know people who have visited it - and in their own words it is worth it ... So Residence! I'm coming!

The Palace and the yard are nice, not spectacular. The tour was in Bulgarian language and they don't have a toilet for visitors. This is unbelievable...many museums in Varna do not have a toilet for visitors...I wonder how they have an authorization of working with the public.

(Translated by Google) Euxinograd is the summer residence of the Bulgarian princes, framed by a beautiful park, in which majestic 150-year-old cedars, spruce spruce and pointed cypress trees grow. The first decorative material for the park was delivered from Marseille - about 50,000 trees and shrubs. Today, more than 300 species of plants are grown in greenhouses built in the 1890s, and high-quality white wine is brewed in wine cellars, like 130 years ago. You can only book an excursion online by sending a request to the Euxinograd administration, which will give you a date and time of your visit.

The guards/policemen at the entrance are very unfriendly, no one speaks English, no one tells you what to do except when they see that you are not leaving and that you are trying to find out some information about how could you visit that place. They laugh in your face when they see you have a lack of information. You have to give an email to make a reservation in advance (that is the only thing that is written on a wall). I sent the email and i received a confirmation email in which they told me I could make a visit 12 days later. Everything was unbelievable!

Nice place, worth a visit if you are in the area. The residence is run by the Bulgarian government, so you need to book in advance to visit. The tour is nice offering a glimpse at the interior of the palace and the garden with great views of the bay.

A hidden treasure! Hard to find information - you must reserve by email in advance. A timed visit, 90 minutes, don't be late. Unpromising start - uncommunicative security on the gate, but when the guide arrived, bang on time, everything went smoothly. The gardens and palace have some lovely moments, a lot of history and European royal connections & influence. Our guide was wonderful, brought the whole experience to life. Well worth a day away from the beach to discover some Bulgarian history.

Saw some people complaining about how the guide was only in Bulgarian or that there were no toilets. Our guide talked in English. At the end of the tour of the palace were toilets. Slight bummer is that we couldn't visit the other floors of the palace ( only one you can visit is the first floor) and that we couldn't see the what we've been told spectacular beach view as they had guests on the beach. We had no problems booking a visit with a group of 30 people. Remember that this is a governmental palace and garden and that's why you might not get admitted a visit or might not see everything. We were also told that you are unlikely to get admitted a visit with a group of less than 20 people. Only way to make a reservation is by email , and you should do that a week in advance so you can make other plans if you don't get admitted.

The service is much higher than some 5 star hotels. The style of socialism has been preserved. 4 deserted beaches, a large park with many plant species, a winery, a church, bungalows on the beach. You sleep in a forest and listen to the sound of the sea all night. It's a pity that the pool is not working, but there is still so much potential...

Euxinograd is the former Bulgarian royals summer residence by the sea. It was built in 1881-1885 by Alexander Battenberg, who named it Sandrovo. Later Maria Louisa, wife of Ferdinand, changed the place name to Euxinograd, after the ancient name of the Black Sea Euxénos póntos. The Hospitable Sea. Indeed very hospitable. The palace is a beautiful piece of architecture with park. Unfortunatelly inside there are only few kings belongins left. Remarcable are the rugs, late XXs Century replicas of the originals. Made in Shumen in socialist times. You can even walk o them. By the sea there is a lovely sun watch offered by queen Victoria. The garden prises itself with the original front piece from a French castle. The Euxinograd castle is now used only for official government meetings. You can go on tour only if you book in advance on their site. I hear some weddings are organized there too. The place has a huge park with orangeries. Some plants are 100 years old. There are also a beach and a hotel. Reservations again with restrictions. A nice place to spend a morning in Varna. At the end, you can buy some very nice white wines at the adiacent shop which only sells castle winery production. Shop is positioned conveniantly in the parking area. Accesible for all. Have fun.

Construction of the palace began soon after its site was presented to Knyaz Alexander Battenberg by the Greek bishopric on 16 March 1882. At the time, the land was occupied by two small monasteries, St. Demetrius and St. Constantine; these were subsequently converted into the first royal residence on the site. This conversion was constructed to plans drawn the Viennese architect Viktor Rumpelmayer in 1885. Initially, the palace was named Sandrovo after the Italian diminutive of Alexander's name — Sandro. Later the knyaz extended the estate to its current area of 80 hectares (200 acres). However, no further building work was carried out. The palace, as it is today, was constructed during the reign of Knyaz (later Tsar) Ferdinand. The pediment and other materials from the right wing of Château de Saint-Cloud in France, a former French royal residence, were brought to Bulgaria by Ferdinand and integrated into his new palace. Ferdinand commissioned Swiss architect Hermann Mayer and Bulgarian architect Nikola Lazarov to complete the design of the palace. In 1893, on the insistence of Princess Marie Louise, Ferdinand's first wife, the palace was renamed Euxinograd - the name derives from the Ancient Greek term for the Black Sea, Εὔξεινος Πόντος (Euxeinos Pontos, "hospitable sea") and the South Slavic suffix –grad, meaning "town" or, historically, "fortress". Tsar Ferdinand's second wife, Tsaritsa Eleonore, died in Euxinograd on 12 September 1917. Following the abolition of the monarchy in Bulgaria, the result of a referendum held under the auspices of the Communists in 1946, Euxinograd became a summer residence of the then-Communist authorities. The democratic changes in 1989 made the former royal palace a presidential and governmental residence and it was opened to the public.
