Hotel Opera is very nice option for Mamaia, as it feels somewhat secluded in their little pool area/garden, although quite close to all the main attractions of Mamaia. The rooms are very spacious, with nice amenities and well-sized bathrooms. The views are great, either side-views or full sea-views (although the sea-view rooms might be a bit too noise-polluted from the pool area). The bed is very comfortable and spacious. The breakfast food options were quite amazing, with very tasty egg-variants and other fresh cheeses/pastries/fruits and the list goes on. Definitely one of the better hotel breakfasts you could wish for. We had the chance to eat dinner at the Hotel's restaurant which is very tasty, albeit a bit expensive, but that's a given with the location. The service however is lacking, as they seem to constantly be understaffed and waiting times could reach one hour to get a check or 40 minutes to order a drink by the pool. The hotel as a whole is not the cheapest, being on the more expensive side, but the overall worthiness is subjective to each traveller. One another big minus are the check-in and check-out times, which are a bit one-sided for the check-out which is way earlier than the check-in, making it a very short trip if you're only staying overnight. Overall the hotel is very nice, the pool is clean and sufficient and the beachfront is superb, but given the price and the somewhat slow staff, it's not the best.

I’ve been the guest of the hotel at the end of the summer season, still the service was very good ( as a recommendation for the hotel: hire a more customer oriented receptionists). The hotel is practically on the beach having is private one. The morning breakfast very good and for everyone’s taste. For the lunch and dinner the hotel has an “a la carte” restaurant, not very variated (probably because the end of the season). For the families with kids the hotel have a playground, close to the restaurant terrace and the pool so you can watch the kids easily from there. I felt comfortable at this hotel.

Bad experience at the beach. The towels are very dirty, the staff is not trained, no value for money.

Nice hotel. +rooms +everything about the beach +2 small play grounds for children =good food but not so many choices (and $$$) =small parking near, with another parkind somewhere else, but with valley option. -no where to walk -verry crouded surroundings -nothing to do besides beach activities -depending on the car to go enywhere.

This was a beautiful hotel! Completely high end. Espresso Machine and hot pot in the room. On demand hot water in the faucets and shower. Gorgeous decor. Fully smart facility. We went off season and it was very quiet and peaceful. Very zen. The buffet was closed but we were served a made to order breakfast. Highly recommend a trip here. Another excellent advantage was watching the sun rise on the Black Sea.

Loved this place! It is obvious that the owners and management take great pride in what they do. The attention to detail is everywhere: decorations, cleanliness, food, service, etc… We usually stay at 5-star hotels when we travel (we live in the US), but since there didn’t seem to be any of those in Mamaia, we picked Opera Hotel. It did not disappoint whatsoever. We felt very welcomed and had a great time. Highly recommended!

One of the best experiences on the Romanian sea side. Exquisite dishes prepared at the highest standards, friendly staff and amazing location and view! Highly recommend for vacation, lunch or dinner.

Mixed feelings. We used to come here every year, but this year it's been quite a bad experience overall. Good things: nicely decorated and reasonably well thought out rooms, albeit a bit small. Most of the staff is polite and do their best to help. Bad things this year: 1. Besides the girl, the rest of the beach bar staff is basically invisible. Why don't you put some simple electronic buttons on each umbrella? That way, they don't need to sit in the sun all day and the tourists don't need to go searching for them when they want a drink. 2. Quality of the sand. Just like last year, very bad. I know this isn't the fault of the hotel, but people should be aware. 3. Worst surprise this year has been the food. Overall taste (especially for breakfast) was worse than last year and, more worryingly, the camembert actually seemed spoiled. Ordered dorada two times and the sauce on the second one seemed particularly worse and actually gave me food poisoning.

The hotel was fully booked, did tot have the chance to stay in, however after the first dinning at their garden restaurant (a very pleasant surprise!), we decided to come back with friends. This restaurant is nothing but class…the welcome and being accompanied to your table, the variety and quality of meals, the impeccable service, the whole ambient (tables positioned with respect for the social distancing norms, the lighting, the discreet live entertainment) was contributing to a very pleasant experience. Finally, there is a reasonable balance between the quality of this restaurant and its pricing. I wish we shall come back as often as we can !

The hotel looks nice and the rooms are cozy, but very cold. We all want air conditioner that can be stopped when we need. Unfortunately every time someone had entered the room (cleaning) the air conditioner started even if we stopped it (off) before going out. After a day in a sun, to come back to a 20 degree, doesn't feel comfortable. But the four stars I am giving to the restaurant service. Long time waiting and rude answers were served instead of nice attitude.

Nice beach they have. Music a little bit loud but then again you are next to the major night clubs

Great hotel and location. Welcoming and friendly staff. Although it is close to Mamaia' s beach clubs, it's relaxing and kids friendly. Rooms are very clean and nice furnished and the breakfast is delicious. Love this place!

Rooms are ok. Stayed in a 9th floor suite and found the lack of doors between the living area and the bedroom annoying. If you travel with kids or if you want a real bedroom, avoid this place. The workmanship was very poor and whenever taking a shower we flooded the bathroom. The Luna restaurant has a very limited menu and after eating there twice, we got really bored. There is no parking on-site and you'll have to surrender your vehicle. I have mixed feelings about this place and although it has some good aspects to it, like the location, I am not sure this is a "will repeat" experience. At 650 euros per night, you'd be better off going to Dubai or Turkey

TO SUM UP: If you like sleeping - Don't come here. We stayed in Hotel Opera for 4 nights in the beginning of September 2021. There was extremely loud music outside on 2 of those nights until way past midnight. Once, as each weekend the club (which is right next door) is hosting parties until 2-3am or so. Very loud bass as well that you can feel in the bed. The 2nd time was a wedding at the hotel itself (which of course nobody told us about when we booked it nor when we arrived). Loud music, loud people screaming - until about 1am. Keep this in mind: We stayed on the 9th floor (the highest) at the side-view room, the windows are thick, I wore earplugs for sleeping. Still - I heard the screaming and the music, so you can't escape it - especially if you are sensitive to noise. The next morning, when we complained about the noise, we were offered a free dinner as compensation. At least that. However, the hotel did something very sneaky: 2 hours after we complained, they cancelled our reservation at booking.com - which prevents us from submitting a review. (They knew we would rate them badly for the loud music) It is not possible to reverse this, even though we stayed at the hotel obviously the entire time - it's a loophole in the review system. To sum up: Pros: - Great beach - Loved the hotel design Cons: - Very loud music that can also happen during the week if you are unlucky. - In September, the pool area is in the shadow from 13:00 - Sneaky manager that tricks the system to avoid bad reviews. - Restaurant is just ok - not too crazy - go to CARBON which is next door, the food is excellent there!

    1. The room given had issues with the electrical control. I had to swipe the room card multiple times to actually get some electricity in the room, after calling the reception 2 times. 2. The worst - My car was parked by the valet in a remote parking, where my car came with a dent on the windscreen. Most probably something fell on it in that parking. I did not notice until I drove back to Bucharest, since the windscreen was dirty and I thought it was just a spot. E-mailed the hotel and received a bitter answer, typical for the romanian hospitality. 3. Cleaner entered the room although I had DND sign… There are plenty of options for you to choose in terms of hotels in that area, but be careful because the quality/price for this hotel is not worth your stay. Stavros Hotel just behind had great rooms. On a final note, do not expect what you would get in any other 5 star resort anywhere around the globe, just because they price it as those..

The accommodation itself is nice, the room is spacious, clean and modern. The restaurant has a good selection and is also good. We stayed from Saturday till Wednesday and there was a huge party until late at night happening on Saturday. We could not sleep, only at some point with earplugs. Still the bass was whooping. At the next day we asked the receptionist if this is a regular thing. She answered it will not happen again, it is because of a club next door. The next day was fine, still some music outside, but while windows closed it was fine. Monday night there was a big party again, this time a wedding party in the Hotel. Again music until late at night, again a night to sleep with ear plugs. The guests were screaming after each song. Next day we went to the reception to ask for compensation. Shortly after we received a no show email. We suspect to receive no review from the booking platform. This is not acceptable for a staying guest who has paid already before arrival. For the noise complaint we received a complementary dinner, but in my opinion the rates are not worth for the stay. This accommodation is for sure not a place you want go to relax to, The parties and music non stop on the beach, made this experience more like a party vacation, that we did not want to participate in. Regarding Covid. Somehow it is only mandatory to wear a mask via breakfast time, after that time masks are not needed anymore. At least no one of the staff nor the guests were wearing them.
