I will start from the moment I arrived at Phoenicia Luxury. It wasn't easy to find a parking place. Many cars were parked on the green space. Then at the reception have to provide a printed copy of the electronic voucher. The voucher is sent by the tourism agency by email, and I found quite inappropriate that the hotel doesn't accept an electronic form as long as the payment is done upfront and the reservation confirmed. In front of me there was a family with two small kids without a printed voucher. It took some time for the receptionist to accept and give a room, not before highlighting the fact she could reject their reservation. I hardly believe she could do that. Meanwhile the kids lost their patience probably being tired after the time spent to get there. So far so good. The food is much better than most of the hotels in Romania. The cuisine at Kastane, Phoenicia Holidays restaurant is also good, but the restaurant at Luxury has more style. The room was nice even it started showing the need for refurbishment. The staff is well trained, with 2 or 3 exceptions was nice interacting with them. Overall, I would give 4 to 5 stars to the staff and 2 stars to the management. There is a problem with the noise. Looks like people don't get that a sound at high volume is noise not music. And we speak about hundreds of watts on the beach, swimming pool, and sometimes at restaurant when it is arranged a grill outside. Have to say they were giving us breaks from time to time. Being on the seaside I'd like to enjoy listening the wind and sea waves, having a normal conversation with people around me, not being necessary to raise the voice for understanding each other. Don't mind some good music at a decent volume. Have seen people complaining about too loud sound at the beach bars with no results. I also did that to the reception and the lady simply told I'm not the first to mention that, but it is beyond her attributes and there is nothing she can do. My request to discuss with a manager remained unsolved. The sea is beautiful. Wish that everyone could enjoy and have good time with family and friends.

Zero covid-avoidance measures taken. No request of wearing a mask for customers, but most importantly - no member of staff wears a mask! Employees at the reception desk, house keeping personnel or staff preparing and serving food! The hotel in itself: overpriced. badly. Not enough parking spaces and those available - very poorly organised. The room (granted, clean upon arrival), had no functioning locks (apartment door or bathroom door - which did not close). The furniture doors were falling out when handled. The A/C did not work upon arrival (august) and was only partially fixed when we insisted to change the room. Also, because of virtually no sound isolation, we could not sleep at night because of the loud music outside - did not stay the whole booked period. The food was decent at best (only served dinner in the restaurant once, because of covid concerns - despite having booked a meal plan). The meal plan is not only extremely limited, but is unclear to their own staff - we had to debate whether we could get a bottle of water at the beach bar! (reception desk says yes, beach bar says no) The beach bar is barely open in the mornings (only after 10 am). The umbrellas are very small, not providing too much shade. The sun-beds are not cared for overnight, so the mattresses are wet in the morning. The children pool is quite dirty (bread floating in water and nearby), and there is no smoking-free policy at a place designated for children!! Bonus: staff both unhelpful and unfriendly. Not worth the money, certainly do not recommend.

Totally disappointed with what I expected to be at a 5 star hotel. From the way of being of the employees to the conditions offered. Apart from the lobby area that looks like the hotel with pretensions the rest of the things are done just to be. The rooms are cleaned daily but not properly, yellowed towels, dust on the plinths in the room and with a damp napkin you can't wipe it by gluing it, mold and dampness in the bathroom. The gym is a shame. Dirt and appliances that barely work. Nobody forbids 3-4-5 year olds to walk through the gym on all the devices, putting themselves in danger ... nobody uses the towel on the machines when they do sports. The food is good and varied both for breakfast and lunch. I have nothing to complain about here.

The staff is very nice, always there to serve and help you. The food is plenty, good but could improve in taste. The rooms are simply great, spacious, beautiful bathroom and have sea view even from the side. It is a bit far from the promenade in Mamaia but You have all that you want on their beach. Very cozy, recommended for families.

The food was absolutely horrible.. the worst uneatable seafood i have ever had, the serving was horrible as well, extremely slow, forgetting to bring dishes, for ex we received the bread at the end of our luch :)))) and we are genuinely asked "so you don't want it anymore?" The beach.. oh yeahh => absolutely NO !! No night room service, receptionists attitude was pretty lame, made you feel that you are checking in the hotel for free :))), cleaners were nice and extremely respectful. Don't even get me started on the interior design and decorations.. :)))))) it's the very perfect definition of kitsch => a piece of advice "less is more" The services offered at this 5* wannabe are not a 4* plus or 5* level or whatever they are dreaming about... All in all an experience I will never repeat !!

Everything was great, with the exception of an À la carte restaurant. Buffet is nice, but it should not be the only option in a 5 stars hotel.

Awful experience. No hot water. Ice tray with mold in it. Dirty room, dirty balcony and terrace. Non functional mini bar. Slow or no reaction from the Staff and front desk. No manager on duty. Dirty jacuzzi, impossible to use!

Clean rooms, the staff is doing a good job. Seems a bit damaged by the customers here and there. The design is not that refined or modern, but it's a matter of taste. The room has all the expected comfort, air conditioning, fridge, hair drier, robes, slippers, good cosmetics, TV, definitely best Wi-Fi ever as we could watch streamed shows or play online flawlessly at any time. If some smokes in a near balcony, the smoke gets in the surrounding rooms. The bathroom is large, yet it has a big window, so anybody may see inside if there was no blind, but what's the point if you keep the blind over the window all the time? At restaurant, the access is humiliating, having to state the room and present the family members each time at lunch or dinner, despite they provide color coded bracelets. Good food, but the restaurant grill and surrounding resorts grills tend to smoke you. No à la carte at all, if you want to buy a meal, you pay a fixed price and go all inclusive, a problem if you are a parent and want to provide a meal to your children only. The bars do not provide fresh juices stating the juice machine may be stolen if they bring one. There's one type of beer. Parking, pool, towels, beach seats included, can upgrade your reservation at check-in. Beach staff was not so nice, refusing to provide a dry mattress telling us a rain will come in about 4 hours. Check-out is done one hour before the last lunch. I'd have had a shower after in order to avoid smelling like a stake all the way home. Not much to do around, no promenade, but there is a park and can walk around on alleys, some little boutiques are there and a grocery, there are places for children to play. The pool is large, a good place to relax for everybody. In the evening, there are shows to entertain children and adults, games and play at the pool in some days, although too loud and that becomes tiring.

Super bad service, no one speaks proper English, cleaning was super poor, not worth the money at all. It is the glam romanian style that looks ridiculous to western people. Food is quite poor as well. Definitely won't stay again.

DEFINETLY NOT A 5 STARS HOTEL!!! You would expect premium services and conditions, especially when the price is according to the hotels rating. Instead of this, at an all inclusive option the drinks consisted of 2 soft drinks, water, draft wine and for everything else you had to pay despite the fact that we called in advanced and we were assured that they have an entire selection of drinks and cocktails included in the offer. The coffee was the worst we’ve ever tasted and the coffee machines didn’t even work most of the time. Also, as we stayed there when there were still some restrictions regarding covid, nobody used masks, no distance was respected, at breakfast/lunch/dinner you could’t find a place to eat which made us eat out the entire vacation. In regards of the rooms being cleaned, i had to go after the cleaning lady because she forgot to put toilet paper in the bathroom. Also the umbrellas on the beach were really small comparing with the others umbrellas on the beach next to us. It was also difficult to pick up a spot cause the people were just occupying the sun beds since the early morning. We couldn’t even find the ice on the beach bar!!! In the last day, before we made the checkout, we had breakfast really early in the morning to avoid the crowd, and we wanted to take a banana for the road, when an employee shouted at us saying that we are not allowed to take it!!! As a conclusion, we were really dissapointed of this location and we wouldn’t recommed it to anybody.
