I was going on a date and naturally was going to do Pequod's in Morton Grove. To my disappointment, they were booked and as I was searching for another pizza joint, I was pleasantly surprised that Burt's Place is still open, five years after Burt's death. I hopped on it right away and it's great to see that they have kept most of the nostalgia that Burt left behind and improved the amenities (indoor heated patio, bar, additional beer and wine choices, online ordering and rsvp option). Burt's Pizza is legendary in Chicago folklore (check out Anthony Bourdain's feature). I got the 12 in pan pizza with sausage, mushroom, and spinach. The pizza came out crisp and their specialty crust is as good as advertised. The service was very friendly. My date enjoyed his pizza as well. Will go back there again and definitely rsvp ahead of time as they only open during the evenings and it is still a small place even with the patio expansion.

Burt has not lost his touch...even after passing on this restaurant to the people bestowed such honor. I have never been to this place before a few days ago. But for what it holds true..the pizza was amazing and the atmosphere was perfect. We came in on a Wednesday...middle of the week and sat inside on a afternoon that beckoned the outdoors. We got a mostly empty room while the outside remained busy ...and we felt comfortable at Burt's place to hang out in a booth an a quiet atmosphere. The service was fine for how over worked staff can be...so got served adequately knowing she was taking care of the patio too for the whole place. The pizza was reasonably priced at around 20 dollars for a medium one topping.... While so many places can up it to 25-28 dollars for a medium one topping pizza (pan or deep dish) The two of us ate half the pizza and had the other half for left overs. That is a 20 dollar pizza for two meals for two people. I'm happy with the purchase. The atmosphere inside was awesome with eclectic and old timey stuff strapped to the wall. Enjoy a night out here and get some old school Chicago style service in a quaint but mighty place. P.S. I think Burt is still running around back there....if I only knew....

Was everything I hoped for and more, the crust was crispy perfection and the sauce and ingredients were all very fresh. Almost better the next day too, highly recommend checking out Burt’s!

Some excellent pan made pizza at some really competitive prices that beat many other pizza joints around. Pizza comes out hot, in the Iron skillet it was cooked in. Perfect amount of ingredients ratio to the crust. Crust was perfect. Definitely wanna come back & get some pictures. There is a small bar with a good variety of beers that one can get. It's a small bar on the outside patio with a TV playing sports games. Maybe around 6-8 chairs so the place isn't focused on being a bar. They are focused on making great pizzas for their customers. Wanna come back with my family to get this pizza again.

Might be the best pizza I've ever had. They had good service and a nice covered patio area as well. Definitely will be back soon.

Ordered two pizzas for take out and they were very good. Sauce was flavorful and toppings were generous. Pizza was still warm after taking out and a 25 minute drive. When I'm Chicago, this is one place to definitely try!

We had a great time having deep dish pizza here. We're not huge fans of deep dish, but we heard this was a fantastic place to start. We got to sit at Anthony Bourdain's table. He once said that Burt's deep dish pizza was the only one he's ever liked. We couldn't agree more. We stuck with the basic pepperoni and mushroom and it was delicious. The wait staff was also super nice too. There's inside seating, outdoor, and outdoor/covered.

I've never had deep dish pizza before but let me tell you this was the real deal. I'm from NYC so I am for sure a pizza fan and Burt's is nothing less than amazing. We stopped by as they were closing and the staff still took our to go order gladly. Sadly since they were shut there were no seats so me and my buddy to eat at. So we just took it right outside and ate it on the hood of our car and it just made our night. I think the staff also appreciated it because, EVEN WHEN CLOSED AND CLEANING, they offered us forks and knives and napkins/paper plates just to make sure we were able to enjoy the pizza as best as we can. Not only is the food amazing (I can probably write a whole essay on the crust/cheese) but all you really need to know is the staff really cares about their customers, their product and YOUR experience. I will come here every time I'm in the area. Thank you guys, eating Burt's on the hood of our car will forever be a memory I cherish.

First time trying Burt’s and did take out. Place was packed when I walked in but they had my pizza ready. Took me an hour to get home and the pizza was still hot and delicious. Can’t wait to order this pizza again.

I always loved Pequod’s pizza, I hadn’t ever had anything else like it. It was my favorite place in Chicago. Well Burt’s was just as good in my opinion! Tons of pepperonis, awesome crisp crust, lots of sauce, great flavor. I feel like it’s a mix between Detroit style pizza and deep dish Chicago style pizza. Thicker pizza, crisp crust like Detroit style, round like Chicago style. I now have two favorite pizza places in Chicago!

Bottom line this pizza is a work of art in every way. Legendary status to anyone who knows quality pizza and food anywhere in the world in my opinion. Anthony Bourdain loving it too may mean lots to many or not, but he was spot on with this place. One of the best pizzas I have ever eaten in my life and many I know have said the same.

Very good pie. I would put it about the same as the popular local brands but without the hubbub of those ones. Like the area and the service was spot on. I recommend and will be back when in the area

Burt's Place is definitely a "neighborhood joint" worth visiting. Best to visit when you can sit outdoors as indoor seating is VERY limited. If your party is larger than 4 be advised to call at least a day ahead. Very good pan style pizza. Service was attentive. Our party of 6 was outside in the uncovered patio on a cool October evening. Heater wasn't working so we were fortunate to be moved to the covered area after a table left. Noise was not an issue outside.

This pizza was just not for me. It tasted fine but the crust was really tough. The sauce was awesome though! Service was not impressive and it’s really hard to move in there, but we knew the place was small. The patio is definitely nice to relieve the crowd. It was great to try this place!

Another "not my first time here, but first Google Review" for this place! Probably my 2nd time here only! Huge fan of Burt and his Gulliver's (now closed) and Pequod's joints and frequented those more often than Burt's Place. As an avid pizza eater, I can tell the difference between the pan pizzas across all entities, and good rightfully so so each has its own uniqueness. Not pictured here is their Jalapeño Poppers (filled with cheddar) which comes out hot and is a must have before chowing down on excellent pizza. Attached here is a medium pizza-in-the-pan Pepperoni and Sausage (Burt's Blend).

ABSOLUTELY 💯 the best pizza I've ever had. The flavor is amazing, and the crust is legendary. No one beats this. SO GREAT.
