This place is remarkable. The island itself has incredible beach snorkeling, with reef surrounding it (giant clams, green turtles, reef sharks, cuttlefish and more). To me the reef (despite bleaching) is more impressive than the Red Sea (although less sea life), regardless a 5* experience. Diving the ribbon reef (Cod Hole) is a big attraction, but be aware that in winter the trips are at the mercy of the wind, and during our 4 days there, scuba was cancelled 3 times. Similarly using the dinghies or getting dropped on other parts of the island are completely wind dependent also. It was disappointing to miss a few of these activities, but still enjoyable. The resort itself is outstandingly curated (rooms, common areas, activities). Staff (managers welcomed and farewelled everyone, floor staff are mainly young Europeans, chefs constantly working) are friendly, always smiling and go out of their way to be helpful. The restaurant food is outstanding. The included bar does include some cocktails but also a long list of spirits that is easily adequate. With a minimum fee of $2000 per night + $780 return East Air flight, save it for a special occasion (you can also fly/boat your own way there and there is a free camping ground but you need to be completely self-sufficient).

My wife and I stayed 4 days at this marvelous place. Beauty of the island merges with its landscapes, beaches and fauna. Turtles become your friends when swimming and diving. Also, special shout to the staff, amazing young, polite, friendly and great professionals. Our Spain and latam colleagues made us feel like home. This is a must-visit place in Australia!!

The island deserves a perfect 5-star rating for its sheer marvel. Regrettably, the hotel falls short of expectations, with its infrastructure and service being rather average. While the staff is really friendly, professionalism was lacking, which is somewhat disappointing.

The island is amazing, the resort is very far from being a 5 star luxury hotel! It used to be an exclusive hotel with top notch service, now it is anything but special! We were very disappointed mainly about the service and the activities. What a pity!

Lucky enough to have had a few days good weather, the accommodation was very comfortable and everything you could need. Staff, were friendly and professional but disappointed that the food didn’t have the flavours of a previous stay at the island years ago, although we enjoyed the spicy soup. Advised that the chef used light flavours so that it didn’t over power the food. Also put of by the fact that crocodiles had been sighted albeit very few but put us of going into the water.

OMG the most luxurious, stunning, mind-blowing place I have ever stayed at. I have dreamt of coming here for years and it did not disappoint. Worth every penny

Lizard Island is simply a great island. The hike to Cooks Lookout in the early morning is scenic and gives a good overview of the island. Watson Bay with its coral garden and turtles is recommended for snorkelling. Also very nice corals on the east side of the bay. Very good dive centre at the resort. The outer reef dives are great, especially to the Cod hole. Inside reef dives are better left out.

If you like the sea and sea life and want to be up close and personal no better place. After all said and done relax with a good meal and great rooms and island atmosphere with at tentative international and local staff
