Hiking area

🫀 This trail is popular for biking and therefore less usable for hiking. My dog and I almost got run over multiple times. I walked the trail for about 1.5 miles and never even saw the lake. The trails are well marked but everything was brown and dead. The one little creek we passed was decently pretty... People often mention trail, trails, miles,

This trail is popular for biking and therefore less usable for hiking. My dog and I almost got run over multiple times. I walked the trail for about 1.5 miles and never even saw the lake. The trails are well marked but everything was brown and dead. The one little creek we passed was decently pretty so I stopped for some pictures but left quickly after because it smelled terrible and 2 guys were smoking pot on one of the rocks. I don’t foresee myself returning to this trail.

This is part of a wider system of trails around the Grapevine Lake. At this specific point there's a parking lot for about 10 vehicles. The trail runs very close to the parking and it extends for several miles as a loop. I walked about 3 hours west of it and it was a very pleasant experience, I didn't encounter other hikers but I did see 5 or 6 bicycles. I particularly like this trail because it's well maintained, it's quite and the difficulty is medium with a few slopes. The trail is free.

Great place for a little trekking. I would not recommend the trails for hiking they are narrow and lots of Bikes. Looks great for mountain biking. We ended up sticking to the large road trails with our dog and had a great time! Our dog had a blast running around closer to the water as well. A little rocky closer to the water so we put on his booties, but he had a blast.

We had a very refreshing trekking through the woods this morning. The trail is very nice and we'll maintained. Not difficult at all. Initially we took the shorter trail (loop 1), and it was finished by one hour. Then we took a longer one, and we ended up walking for over 7 miles in 3 hours. This was my first time on this trail. But I think I'm going to do this over and over again in coming days. Loved the silence of the nature and the other trekkers on the trail were also very friendly. The marks on the trail are so nice that no-one can get lost in there.

I visited several trail systems in and around the north Dallas area and this was the best set of trails I came across. Varying degrees of difficulty and multiple distance options. I rode loops #1-4, which are beginner to intermediate with only a few advanced sections. Loops #5-8 are for more experienced riders, from what I have heard and read. I visited twice, starting from Simmons drive all the way to the Rockledge Dr. parking lot and back in this order - loops 2, 3 4 them loop 1 at the end - approximately 11 miles. Some areas of the trail are very hot due to lack of tree shade, especially during Texas summers. Also there are some sandy areas so don’t wipeout turning through those. Excellent flow, mix of wide and narrow, shaded and open areas, singletrack, tight turns, bridges, creeks, couple of large rock drops and a couple of short, challenging climbs. Gorgeous scenery overlooking the water in multiple places. highly recommended. DORBA’s site lists additional trails that I visited multiple times. Love it. Feels like you are away. Peaceful trails, birding, biking, dogs on leash, lake and flora. I went there to mountain bike, but due to the rains the mtb trails were closed so I hiked it. I had a blast! I meditated in front of the lake for twenty minutes and could see people sun athing in the distance. I will return to mountains bike and explore some more this beautiful setting.

Best trail for hiking, biking. Period. Trail closed when muddy, please don't attempt to ride on the trail when closed. The trail status is posted on the site, on the major trailheads, and the Facebook page. The eastern trail runs along a few high, steep banks with great lake views. The entire trail from start to finish, one way, is 20 miles (around 1.5 to 2.5 hours depending on your MTB experience). Hikers usually pick around 2-3 of the 7 different trails to hike, as they are 2 to 3 miles long each.

One of the best hikes in the immediate neighborhood of grapevine. Scenic and pleasant specially during spring and fall seasons. Sometimes it gets too crowded and crazy for hiking during the weekends, specially on trails where mountain bikes are also allowed. Weekdays are perfect. The only downside is the takeoff noise from DFW airport, which you can hear almost every 30-60 seconds. This is mostly noticeable and annoying on the days planes take off northbound.

To warn anyone that is from out of state or new to area, I was told rudely by a another bike rider this is a one way trail even tho at the trail head. There is no info on the direction the trail goes till like a 1.5 miles in on a marker which you wouldn't still know bc only one side shows the direction. Need better signs at trail heads. Plus just don't be rude people

Beautiful nature trail along the lake front with red clay paths and red cliffs. Very scenic. Watch out for the mountain bikers.

Great MTB trails, been using them for 20 years and they keep getting better, thanks dorba might want to visit these trails during the week because they get quite crowded on the weekends if the weather is good. Trail gets better every year, some parts are a bit technical for me so don't laugh if you see me pushing my bike up a hill!
