Beautiful park on the water. Nice atoll natural pool for families to safely swim surroundied by groomed sand. Fun to watch kite surfing to the north with view of downtown Miami and Key Biscayne. Easy parking except when tide is in and lot partially fills with water. Clean nice restrooms. Great Red Fish restaurant with Chef Adrianne was exceptional. Very fresh fish entries ($$$), variety of appetizers and good drink menu. Amazing views from bar and outdoor tables. Rooftop tables are probably open when it is warmer. A lot of great photos on here. I will add some from after dark. Beautiful drive to get there through expensive neighborhoods with amazing and unique old Banyan trees!

Great spot to relax has everything a park can ask for. Marina, beach pool, restaurant, park, trails kite surfing. If you have kids the beach pool is perfect. They have life guards and provide bathrooms with change rooms nearby.

The area is well developed and nice. First, there is a big parking (with fixed day rate about $7 regardless of real duration of stay). The beach is around closed laguna and has couple lifeguards houses. The water in laguna was too hot and not very clean, but ok. That's probably the only point to improve. The views are nice, especially in direction of Miami downtown. There is also a restaurant on site, but it opened on certain hours only. There are rest rooms and change rooms near the parking. Overall, this is a good place to chill

I enjoyed this place although I did run into a lady that insisted I wear my mask so that I don't get sick. She didn't work there. There wasn't a person around for 50 feet. That's not a reflection of the park, more a reflection of the times. It's cool. Go check this place out. It's a nice little chill area. Great for going on a walk.

Sich a beautiful nature trail through old growth trees full of Spanish moss and stunning bromeliads. And some many warblers! Avoid Fairchild Botanical garden if you sont want to pay the $25 entrance fee -- highway robbery. Matheson offers more for no fee.

I just had the wedding of my dreams here. I was lucky enough to book the coral rock pavilion with very short notice. With the help of Ana and the park manager, I was able to pull off a full blown wedding. The office staff was patient with my every phone call. I called several times a week with questions lol. I hosted the ceremony upstairs on the open deck which I hadn’t seen anyone do yet. The pavilion has a power source and sink. The bathrooms are near by. The pavilion itself doesn’t need much decor as it is so stunning. I added my own personal touches. See pictures for reference. Ample parking is right by the pavilion. I can’t say an enough good things about my experience renting the coral rock pavilion. I am so grateful there is something so affordable and so beautiful. I looked forward to spending future milestones here and making our special place to celebrate.

Absolutely gorgeous! Stumbled upon this gem during some free time on a work trip. The saltwater pool is huge and gives you the same feel as being in the ocean without having to get knocked over by waves 😅 Had some cool fish swimming with me. Views are stunning and had almost the whole place to myself. Quiet, relaxing, and only $5 to park.

They have been doing some construction for some time now which restricts you from experiencing the entire park. Once it's all done it should be awesome. In its heyday I would have given it a 5+

This place is a hidden gem within the busy Miami buzz. Opened to the public in 1930. It remains one of those free gifts (thanks to the donation of land from Willian J. Matheson) one must enjoy. An encounter of the nature kind! With mangroves, hardwood forest, open green areas for picnics, marina and at the end, the open Biscayne Bay with an enclosed beach pond, perfect for kids and all in the family. Great to make it a biking destination, whether you bike from home, or drive/park and unload your two wheels at the Cartagena Circle. Start pedaling Southbound on Old Cutler Rd. about 18 minutes to find it on your left. You are in for a treat... Enjoy... Thank you Mr. Matheson!

I have been going here since I was a little girl and now I take my kids. This is one of my favorite spots for a quick beach day. It’s always kept in pristine conditions, and the location an area could not be better. The park has more to offer than just the beach area. The trails are fun to walk. There’s plenty of room for picnics and all the beautiful landscape is serene. Also a great place to keep the boat at. 🤗

This place is great for tiny swimmers. The little beach area is very clean and the water isn’t stagnant like I thought it would be- thankfully!! They have showers and changing rooms right next to the beach area. There’s also a really nice looking restaurant- we didn’t eat there since our toddler would destroy it but it’s very convenient!

Amazing views, very clean beach!. By far my favorite beach in Miami. Some important facts: It charges for admission and pets are not allowed on the beach unless they are service animals.

A unique location that offers boat owners to load and inload their boat to and from the water. A small inlet beach ideal for parents with their little toddlers and kids. There is a restaurant to order food. Also a Hidden bike trail and an abandoned road, which feels like your at a zombie Apocalypse. Only assume when it gets dusk it becomes very more scary and ideal for people who enjoy that time of adventure.

Very nice area for family activities. We had fun walking around and playing in the sea water pond. There are many parking spots but you have to pay.

Beautiful place, plenty of parking lots. Nice beach for kids not so busy on weekends. They have tables you can use it for lunch or so . Also there's a big restaurant in front of the beach and the outside bar is great. Some people come here to fish. Quiet and peaceful

I went during the week. Good local spot. Not too busy, pay for parking. Man-made Beach with sand area. And picnic tables around the waters edge. Restaurant opened in the evening playing music and outside bar sold drinks. Lots of palm trees. Breezy.

Nice spot but not pet friendly according to the signs. Hung out in the parking lot area with my pup by the water but then walked around the park with him and no one said anything 🤷🏻‍♂️. Guess it was our lucky day.

Great park to ride bike, walk or grab a bite to eat. The food truck by the beach is not found on google maps but the food is great. It is actually owned by Chef Adrianne so the fish and meat is fresh, delicious and at the fraction of the price found in the restaurant.

Mostly great! The small man-made beach has gotten a bit more algae filled since our visit last year, but that's to be expected and it's still very nice overall. The views never disappoint when looking out to the ocean and seeing part of downtown Miami. It's never too crowded when we go and is always very relaxing.

Great spot for a picnic or to catch some rays and even let the kids play. Protected little beach. Restaurant on the premises. Outdoor showers, changing rooms and bathrooms. There was a guy across the parking lot renting kayaks and paddleboards etc. I was on my way back from Homestead and stopped off to get in the water for a sec. Perfect pit stop.

Our favorite beach in miami! Just an amazing little beach! It’s a state park so they do have a lot off silly (ridiculous) rules like no floats no throwing or kicking a ball. No fun!

Great launching spot for your boat. This year parking lots flood up to 2 ft. So you may need a boat to get back to your truck. Open sunrise to sunset, if you get out before sunset it's secure to leave truck and trailer late. 😉

Closest beach from West Kendall. Nice quiet beach setting with a Restaurant nearby. Lots of picnic tables with lots of trees that provide good shade.

Always a pleasure to get in a good walk around the park. It takes you out of the city to inner tranquility. Especially during a Sunrise or Sunset. A quaint spot to sun bath. Highly recommend it.

Beautiful place, amazing view .I went on a Sunday, was crowded but not too much, the day was extremely hot so the water was warm , the sand closer to water is b”dark, muddy and kind of smelly , my kid had a great time playing with sand (far from water) we ate at the restaurant, the food is good (not cheap) . I don’t give 5 starts because it didn’t feel very clean.

A gem of a park. A quiet secluded beach for kids to splash around in water, a liceguard on duty, a parking lot with lots of parking spaces. A great spot for anyone looking for some peace and quiet in the area.

Great place to visit but be aware of steep parking fees especially if you just want to take a quick look around, as a visitor sightseeing. Great wading pool, restaurant, paved walks.

  • 5/5 sebell C. 11 months ago on Google
Great little tide pool for floating around. The kids kove it, the sand is a bit muddy (makes easier to shovel). They have changing rooms, bathroom and showers. I did not see BBQ stations and there is a high price restaurant (probably why there is no BBQ grills). They rent Kayaks (around 20 to 30 bucks as off 04/22/23). Sail water skies and parking is free. And at least when I went in the entrance was gree as well! There is a Marina and boat ramps as well

  • 5/5 Christine F. 11 months ago on Google
Hidden gem. Quiet spot. Kids and families welcome. Salt water filtered in from the ocean is used to create a large-sized pool for swimming and wading. It resembles a natural lagoon if you didn't know better; it even has small fish in it. White sands and places to picnic. Our kids built sand castles while we sunbathed. The music from the restaurant was a nice touch. I felt like I was at a resort rather than a park.

We wanted a peaceful place to enjoy our beach day and the Miami beach is always crowded so we decide to visit this place. We went there on the weekend in the morning. There were not many people so we easily found a parking space for our car. It was a nice park to spend a time with friends and family. After 5 mins of walking we reached the pool. There was also a restaurant. We could also see the downtown miami. We swam at the pool, took a walk around the park. There were a lot of coconut trees. Love the place!!

  • 3/5 Sachey J. 1 year ago on Google
As much as I LOVE the water, I didn't really enjoy it here. The water was waaaayy to murky and slimy/slippery. Even the sand on the shore was slippery. I was still able to have a nice relaxing evening with family, but I don't think I'd visit again.

  • 5/5 Rex 1 year ago on Google
Definitely a must set in Miami. It's got lots of parking, an amazing water view of the city, and even a wave pool with a restaurant and lose guards. 😀 Highly recommend visiting!
