🎟ORDER TICKETS ONLINE🎟 💵 CASH FOR VENDING MACHINES💵 🚫Tram/Monorail Closed🚫 This zoo is one of the nicest ones I have ever seen. Every animal appears well cared for and it was the only zoo I have been to where every animal is active/alert. This place is huge and I’d recommend for anyone to rent a pedal bike. They cost a bit much but because the zoo also has a botanical garden, there’s a lot of plants and no animals on some trails. The bikes come in different sizes to accommodate family size. There’s a water park for children and a playground. Remember to bring bathing suits and sunscreen. There’s also boat rentals and a variety of hands on educational activities. 🦒 Giraffe feeding 🦜 Parrot feeding 🐫 Camel feeding 🦏 Rhino feeding 🐘 elephant presentations 🦉 animal encounters (check website)

Truly an incredible experience! I've been to lots of zoos and this one has its own unique experiences! We spent the whole time there, 10am-5pm and could have spent even more. Brought lunch in with us, lots of water spots to fill bottles and mist stations to cool you off. If you are debating going do it! We only have a few days in the area and wondered if it would be worth the time spent and it was. 🐅🐯🐘🐸

Best Zoo I have ever visited! It is beautiful to see the education along the way for the public and ways that we can help make a change globally. Natural habitat exhibits and we spent 4 hours walking which felt like it went so fast. Every turn there is another animal to see and learn about!

The part closest to the entrance and Amazon quarter is very nice and worth seeing. However zoo was too large. It was difficult to walk through it all, and many animals were not present in the enclosures. While entry prices are good, cost of renting bikes or strollers is ridiculous. I was expecting a better planed zoo.

What a great experience! We went on New Years Eve weekend (which I was told increased guests levels significantly) and still had a great time. Highly recommend purchasing tickets before (they're super easy on the website, I was able to do it was I was walking up to the gate) and get there early to be able to rent a peddle bike or Animal Scooters. There is a ton of those so be prepared to be dealing with that all day. But the animals were great (tigers, bears, giraffes, hippos, crocodiles, plus many different types of monkeys, snakes, birds, and turtles), cages looked clean, and there was clear viewing areas. Food took a bit as the workers were understaffed, but it did taste good. Bathrooms weren't large and could have lines, so be prepared. Overall, it was a great experience and would make the visit again! Parking is free as well.

Zoo lights at Miami zoo is a holiday experience they do each year. It’s really beautiful and worth going. Get tickets in advance, opt for the package that include hot cocoa and cookies, it’s a couple dollars more per person but a nice thing to have when you arrive. There’s also the 5$ add-on for the water ride that is lovely (see video and pictures), it’s the lost man’s river ride by the entrance but they’ve renamed it “snowman’s river ride” for the holidays. There’s a line but it’s fun to do on your way out. It took us about 2 hours to wander through, and this was with two major stops at both playgrounds for kids to run around and be crazy and play. There is also a scavenger hunt at the zoo miami lights nights that involves downloading an app (free) and finding certain animals around the park and answering certain questions! The reward is neat!! Go, it’s a great family night, date night, alone night, it’s just really pleasant.

The zoo is a great place to take the kids or to have a nice walk. All the employees where friendly and where ready to help with any questions or directions I asked (I don't like reading the map, I asked around). The variety of animals was impressive and the way they were organized was conducive to learning about various habitats. The enclosures for mammals were made to look and feel like the natural terrain they originated from. You definitely need a full day to see the entire zoo. If you come with kids, they are basically guaranteed to have a good time!✌

We spent a Sunday at the Miami Zoo, and I recommend it 100% if you are a person like me who likes to go out on walks. We went in February, so the climate was perfect, and spent a total of 5 hours, which was enough to see all animals. Altogether, we spent $85 for two adults including the food package. Unless you are planning on bringing your own food, we recommend you buy the food package up front because you can save ~$10 per person. The food was pretty decent, and everyone who works there is extremely nice and welcoming. Fun fact: the koala is the most expensive animal in the zoo because they have to ship the eucalyptus leaves all the way from Australia.

My family and I had a blast here. We rented a bike for a few hours. There were employees around when we stopped to look at the elephants and other animals. They talked to my kids about the animals. The staff are so kind and welcoming. We will definitely be back! There are also tables and benches throughout the park where you can relax and have lunch.

These are some old pictures but Zoo Miami is one of my favorite zoos. Current admission is $23 for an adult. I loved the animal activities like feeding giraffes, camels (at one time), and the one horned rhino. It looks like they added a few new ones. Unfortunately, I’ll have to take off half a star because all of the feedings used to be pretty cheap like less than $20 for sure. Now, it seems like they jacked up the prices. Zoo was a good size, you could spend a few or more hours here. There were a large variety of diverse animals and some that I’ve never seen at other zoos. Employees were pleasant. Zoo was clean and well kept.

Beautiful encounters, I felt some of the animals were properly accommodated based on their habitats for the fact that it’s a zoo. They seemed well taken care of and I wouldn’t mind seeing more done for them and their lives better. However, the Australian Area is graphic, they have the Koalas in glass boxes with pictures of trees as wallpaper in a compact a/c room. Not only that but the Koalas, Red Panda, Wombat and others are completely alone and isolated in these conditions. The Australian Area NEEDS TO RESPECT THEIR NATIVE ANIMALS. People notice and the animals deserve better. Other than that, the rest of the zoo was in good conditions. 3.5 Rating

The best zoo! My family and I had so much fun. The environment is calm but you get to also have fun. They have some great animals and experiences. The animals and their cages seem well taken care of. The zoo is clean and very big. The cycles are also an amazing option to walk a little less. Inside you will find everything you need, there are lots of souvenir and snack stands all over. The refreshing stations are also very useful. I absolutely recommend this place!! Especially if you are looking for a zoo that really cares about their animals.

Even with the weather being as extreme as it was the animals still had enough energy to be out for us to view/enjoy. The exhibits are laid out in a way that makes you feel like you're actually in the jungle or a part of a Jurassic Park movie set. The audio playing throughout each walkway put you on edge thinking something was about to walk out on you or towards you. The staff were extremely professional/helpful. Overall one of the best zoos we have ever attended.

Bought tickets on arrival it was a Monday so not much of a queue and the zoo was not crowded. I had such a lovely afternoon here! I spent 3 and 1/2 hours here but could easily have spent more, it’s a big zoo with lots of space for the animal enclosures. I highly recommend this beautiful zoo I felt it was worth the 25 dollar entry. So many incredible animals to see, they had zookeeper talks and a show. Lots of places to get food and drink and plenty of restrooms. They also had handy water fountains and places where you could use a spray mist to cool off. Lots of places to rest and sit on benches whilst watching the animals too. The staff were friendly and helpful. I do feel paper maps would be better than using the phone. But apart from this they are doing everything right as it’s a fantastic day out and I’m so glad I spent an afternoon here as I had such a nice time whilst learning about so many incredible animals. Keep up the good work Zoo Miami ❤️

PLEASE READ ; IT WILL BE VERY USEFUL. 1- A normal tour takes 5-6 hours. 2- If you are not a good walker, definitely rent a bike. 3- If you have a 0-3 year old child, be sure to take the stroller with you. 4- If you have children between the ages of 3-10, take their swimsuits because you will want to stop at the splash park. 5- Take plenty of water with you, but there are water fountains, you can fill them. 6- Let your phone be fully charged. 7- Definitely check whether it is rainy weather. 8- Go early in the morning. 9- and feed the giraffes, it's very arbitrary.

Nice clean zoo. Great selection of animals to see. Definitely recommend bringing light clothes and sunscreen since it's a lot of walking or biking. And of course beverages to hydrate. They also have a splash zone for kids which my son enjoyed a great deal. I will definitely be coming back.

This is a pretty awful zoo. It comes pretty close to the worst zoo I’ve been to but that spot is reserved for Toronto zoo. The exhibits are limited and you don’t get much information on the animals there. The only positive is the self cycle carts they have. Parking is plentiful and it’s not really crowded but don’t expect to see much.

The place is great, you’ll need like 4 or 5 hours to meet all the zoo and see all the different kind of species. The zoo has 4 areas/countries (Amazon, Australia, Asia and Africa), the Asian and African are the best. You can see a lots of animals, but also, there’s are a lot of places where you can’t see them, I’m not quite sure why, if the species are not available or if they were hiding out. That’s the reason I gave 3 stars. The place has a lots of places for resting, because is really big. I recommend you to bring your own water and tennis shoes. You’ll find different places for food, but are really really expensive. Is really empty because of the Covid-19. It’s perfect to enjoying with the family and kids. You can rent bikes to make it easier for you.

DON'T TRUST WHAT THEY SELL ON THEIR WEBSITE. The zoo is selling the expectations that they are limiting the access to the park to a certain number of people. IS DEFINITELY NOT THE CASE. We bought the tickets to go on a Sunday and the premise was as hectic as never before the pandemic. I understand that the location can promote to visit the park, and that everyone is free to choose to stay or not based on the amount of people. Nonetheless, it not CORRECT TO SELL LIES. In addition the park is not providing refunds. So basically you pay online, you go and conclude that it doesn't look like a place that is selling a Covid safe experience but you cannot get your money back.

My wife and I decided to go to Zoo Miami for zoo lights. Before you got to the entrance you were amazed about how beautiful the lights looked. Once through the entrance, an even more magical experience with lights so beautifully placed throughout the park. A lot of the park exhibits were non accessible during zoo lights, for good reasons. So, if you want to see all of the animals I recommend visiting during the day. I got to experience things at Zoo Miami that other zoos don’t offer and that includes walking over gators and an underwater tube crawl through to see a huge gator. The park was clean and the beer was great! I recommend Zoo Miami and zoo lights!

We arrived about 1030 am and was able to park easily. Some of the exhibitions were being moved or renovated, so we didn't get to see everything. I think the signage and maps could be better so use Google maps on your phone to navigate. I do recommend renting a cycle of some sort to get around if you are not used to walking longer distances. The giraffe feeding was the highlight of the visit for us.

I’m a big fan of Zoo Miami but the last few times we’ve come it’s been disappointing. Many of the exhibits are closed or under renovation and a ton of the enclosures were without animals…if I had to guess I’d say about 40% (of the enclosures we visited) were empty. The AC was not working in the Conservation Action Center which detracted from the work they put in to the space - it’s totally overhauled from what it used to be. When this Zoo is on, it’s on - recently it hasn’t been on.

This is the best zoo I’ve visited. Not only because of the variety of different animals from all over the world, but also because of the gorgeous scenery within the park itself. There are plants and trees from around the world, many of which I saw for the first time. You need a full day to get through the whole park. Highly recommended for those visiting or living in Miami

Very attractive zoo with animal-friendly enclosures. It is nice to get up close to the birds for photos. Tram means you do not have to walk all the way around the zoo. Also, there are self-diving "cars" as an option. Very nice place to spend time even if you are not with children. Good gift shop; the sales clerk I dealt with went to great lengths to show me all the plush animals in my category so I could have a wider choice. Some were not on display so he dug them up for me. Food in cafeteria surprisingly good: I had pizza and my niece had a grilled veggie sandwich. Good!

The zoo itself is great. They have a large variety of animals and they provide educational information. I really recommend purchasing your tickets online, it saves you time and money. Some of the exhibits were closed but we still had a lot of fun. As for food, it was average, just like in any other park or zoo. Overall a great experience and I will definitely be visiting again.

One of the better zoo’s I have visited, a wide variety of animals. Spent a good 4 hours on foot walking around. We came on a rainy thunderstorm day so there wasn’t much wait for anything. $22 per adult for tickets, wasn’t too bad considering the time you spend inside. Would definitely come back to check out all the little side attractions you can do for a price.

I loved the Miami zoo! It is huge. We spent 6 hours there and probably did 75% of the zoo. I loved all the tropical landscaping and plants throughout the zoo and the Amazon section with the giant fresh water fish and giant otters. I had never seen those before so they stood out a lot. Since the zoo is so big, they should definitely add shuttles or build a new tram because it takes so long to walk everywhere. But overall I liked it a lot and would go back.

We visited on a Monday afternoon in December with a few hours to enjoy before we caught our flight. It was $118 for 5 people (over 12 y/o), but we discovered Groupon discounts after we paid 🤦. This is a really good zoo with many many interesting animals. The enclosures are appropriately sized for the animals and it's easy to view the animals from multiple areas. The animals appear to be well cared for and there was quite a lot of staff around. The place is quite large, so wear comfortable clothing and good walking shoes. Snacks and drinks can be pricey, but seemed on part with what I've been charged at similar attractions. Side note: invasive species of lizards as well as native birds are running around everywhere and are a lot of fun to watch. They provide interest on the (sometimes) long walks between exhibits.

We came here shortly after the zoo opened. We went all over and enjoyed the Florida Everglades exhibit, as well as the Asia and Africa sections. The areas are well kept and you can see a number of animals. They also have a nice section for kids near the Oasis Grill. It includes a play area, a carousel, (which costs extra) and a barn where you can interact with certain animals. There is also a good playground near the front entrance that includes a small splash pad. There are plenty of food stands and restrooms throughout the zoo as well as water bottle refilled stations and some areas to cool down using the mist machines. The prices for food are what you would expect - but at least we enjoyed what we ate. We will look forward to coming back.

Had a great time at the Miami Zoo. Went on a rainy Sunday so there was hardly anyone there so we really enjoyed it. Tigers were out running around, as well as the monkeys and elephants. Got to feed the giraffes with zero line!

Had fun with the family, everyone 2 years or older are require to have a mask , i would recommend if possible to buy the tickets online to save time and no making the lines. Overall we had lots of fun even though it rain at times (very little rain) but my son had rain boots and rain coat, so he had a blast jumping and walking on the mist rain. We noticed after a mist rain the animal seem to come out and play especially the monkeys

This zoo has become a tropical paradise. It is a large zoo, but the monorail is not in service at this time. There are many rest areas throughout. It has a large "Oasis" at the center and the regional sections branch out as circular paths from that hub. The animals look well cared for and are provided with interesting features in their spaces. Every employee we met seemed happy to be there and were very helpful when we had questions.

A must visit place for families with kids. There are many animals and the best part is that the zoo is quite interactive. There is a slide and a crawl through tunnel to view otters and crocodiles. There’s also a net bridge going right over the alligator exhibit and is a very good experience The lion ,gorilla and chimp exhibits have caves beside them for additional viewing which is fun for kids! The best part for kids is the ocean voyage splash pad! Good way of cooling off after walking through the zoo. Also there are mist sprayers stationed all over the zoo to help people cool down when it’s very sunny. Very well maintained and a must see in Miami!

I love every zoo I go to but this one is in my top three. It was a cloudy rainy day so it was perfect weather for the animals to play and be active. I really enjoyed this zoo. The staff was friendly, park was clean, animals seemed happy and the statues we're clean. I would recommend bringing a big water bottle as filling stations were a little scarce. I loved the plastic souvenirs and penny options.

If you love exotic animals and want to see them in their natural habitats, then the next best thing to a safari is a trip to our Zoo Miami! This Zoo is beautifully appointed with a huge map to guide you on your endless journey of discovery. At each animal exhibit, you will find signs providing info on each species and benches so you can rest your feet and observe the animals in their natural environment. They even highlight the zookeepers in charge of each area! This place requires a great deal of walking through sunny and shaded paths, so bring comfy shoes and a sun hat if you go during the hot summer months. There are many water fountains and vending machines along the paths if you prefer not to lug around a water bottle. Also, there are tandem bikes for rent if you prefer to get around that way. Each area of the world is highlighted with unique and beautiful species. The animals are well cared for and content. You will love this experience! Covid protocols in place and alcohol dispensers readily available. Lots of free parking! Get your tickets on line to avoid waiting in high season. Enjoy!

Zoo Miami is the oldest and largest zoological garden in Florida and the only sub-tropical zoo in the United States. Because of South Florida’s special climate, this zoo is able to keep a wide variety of animals from Africa, Australia, and Asia. I love the fact that the animals are not kept in cages instead they have spacious designed areas to move freely and comfortably. Zoo Miami also has a big playground and a splash pad for the kids. Not to forget that there are plenty of shaded areas for people to rest. Additionally, there is a variety of cafes to eat in. If you plan on visiting this amazing place, I recommend to wear sneakers or comfortable shoes because the zoo is enormous and there is lots to see. You could also rent bikes or ride the tram to move around, but with an additional fee. In addition, I advise you to bring a water bottle. Don’t worry you will be able to refill it with filtered water from water fountains. There are many around the zoo. Besides, they have Vending machines to buy cold drinks or ice cream to cool off. Last but not least, remember to buy your tickets online to avoid waiting at the entrance’s line.

Over all .. I had fun. The family really enjoyed it Everything is really expensive 17$ for a HotDog ? Does everything has to be Expensive ? Who's going to pay $7 for a small bottle of water ? 15$ for a Lunch Box ? 26$ for a Key rings ? 34$ for a picture .. And 87$ For A Dinner ? Besides everything being expensive my enjoyment was really appreciated and a little pricey... Catnap Drinks where Cold . food was Hot. Loved it . I'm planning on going back......"

Absolutely massive Zoo located outside of Miami, FL. Came here on a weekday just after Thanksgiving 2021 and it was close to empty. Had a great time wandering around and seeing all of the animals. My wife loved seeing the Bald Eagles and I adored seeing the Rhinoceros. The Zoo is well laid out and everyone who rented a bike was smarter than us taking it on foot. Would definitely come again if we were in town.

The Ultimate Adventure for the whole Family! In sunny South Florida, there's a place like no other, where you can travel the world without leaving home! Zoo Miami is the biggest zoo in Florida, and it's as big as five football fields. It's not just a zoo; it's a wonderland of animals from all around the world. What's super cool about Zoo Miami is that it's like a map of the Earth, and animals from each continent live together, just like they do in the wild! You can walk through jungles, savannas, and forests, and you'll see animals up close, safe and happy in their own special homes. And the best part? Zoo Miami is like a club for animals that need our help. Over 100 animals here are like superheroes because they're in danger out in the wild. The zoo takes care of them and teaches us how we can help too! From cool animal feedings to meeting amazing creatures, there's always something fun to do. Plus, when you visit, you become a guardian of the animals. It's like having your own zoo animal friend, and your visit helps take care of them. Zoo Miami isn't just a place for fun; it's a place where we learn about animals, our planet, and how we can make a difference. It's where the adventure begins, right in our backyard! So, grab your safari hat and come visit. It's time for a wild adventure at Zoo Miami!

Got there around 12pm and was able to see everything, but I would recommend to get there when it opens. Parking was not a problem and the entrance with online tickets was a breeze. They have the option of offering family bikes to rent to get around the zoo or you can just walk around. There is a petting zoo, giraffe feeding area, and an aviary where the birds can be fed. Overall, it’s a great experience for all ages!

Great way to spend the day. Especially when the weather is cool. All of the animals come out and the human crowds seem a bit lighter. This is one of the best zoos I have ever been too and it is in our own backyard.

One of my favorite Zoos! My husband and I went to see the Zoo lights and if you're debating on buying tickets just do it. There is a tunnel you can crawl through and see gators! The Christmas lights were so beautiful there was hand sanitizing stations everywhere. You can take a picture with Santa but you have to stand 6 feet away, there is a craft section for the kiddos and a letter to Santa mailbox. There's also a a boat ride you can do!

Zoo Miami has had 40 years to grow better. I can remember how hot it was with lack of foliage back when it first opened. But by now the trees have grown, as have the zoo exhibits. My family had a great time walking through & discovering the new Florida exhibit complete with a short water ride. The zoo will take at least four hours to experience.

Loved this Zoo! Plenty of animals. They look healthy and with vigor, we didn’t see an empty area. Mask use is obligatory and everyone for the most part is compliant. Tried out Rhino and Giraffe feeding areas and they were fun! Entry fee is money well spent.

Very nice visit today. Not too crowded especially considering it was a Sunday sitting a holiday week and enough food and exhibits were open to keep people spread out. The exhibits were well laid out and the animals seem well cared for. Wide paths allow room for many and mask wearing is enforced fairly well. A wonderful selection of animals with very nice bi-lingual informative signs.

Absolutely a great place for the family or to just enjoy a nice day off. The zoo is a great place to learn about animals and also how humans can also have both positive and negative effects on them. Overall the park itself is great very clean and very well regulated during Covid-19 with the exception of a few patrons that don't know how masks works or how to wear them properly. There is everything from bikes you can rent in order to get around quicker to plenty of food and drink spots. There could be some areas that are watched better for over crowding or not enough social distancing but the overall experience is great.

I couldn't enter the zoo. Overcrowded mess, with endless lines and people not wearing masks. On the website they advertise total safety compliance, but in reality it's very different. Management doesn't care about safety. I have elderly parents, so my tickets went right out the window. P.s. I've reached out to management, at the emails they gave when answering this review. Nobody replied. Just goes to say how accountable they are when it comes to their customer safety or concerns.

Mask wearing is required but not every one complied. Bike rentals we going to fast in my opinion, have to hold your little ones hand when bikes are passing by, food and beverage products are way to expensive, some exhibits were closed. I was not impressed by this location

One might say all zoos are the same. Miami Zoo wasn't like others I've been to because there were more exotic birds. The animals at this zoo seemed extra relaxed - Miami lifestyle? You can get good walking exercise done around the premises. They also have bike trollies for families, or bikes available. Bring a water bottle since it's hot and humid. I really liked that this zoo had plenty of shaded areas and seating with mist blowers through the walking paths. There were also lots of garden-like places to hideaway. Enjoy the captures of other species that share the earth!

This is 1 of my absolute favorite places. The kids love it too! Make sure you bring swimwear for the kids so they can play at the splash pad or playground. So many beautiful animals and lots of interactive fun for the family. Bring lots of water because it is 🔥 🔥🔥 HOT! The food is good and reasonably priced. Go early, more animals are out. Later when it's hotter, they hide to keep cool. The staff is always friendly and helpful. If it the summer, make sure you get the Summer Savings Pass for unlimited visits.

What a great experience. Such a great deal for the annual pass too. The zoo is in incredibly clean and the staff is very friendly. This is such a great place to frequent. There's so much to see that you need to plan at least 3 hours to see everything and that's if you're going fast. There's plenty of parking and there's a lot of indoor and air conditioned areas that you're able to cool off if you get overheated. There's so many different exhibits and so much to see. Very worth the money and time. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

It’s a nice way to spend the day with family, leisurely strolling around, be sure to wear comfy shoes the park is deceiving, you might think it’s not that big but that far from the truth, it’s huge.. you do a lot of walking so take that into consideration. You can rent a bicycle cart for the family if you’re into that. They have snack kiosks, dippin dots ice cream, a food court area and a grill. A lot of attractions, are fav was feeding the giraffes that was really neat.

first visit to this zoo. Very big zoo. Lots of trails to follow. Zoo animal team members were full of information on animals and helpful in pointing us in the right direction. Animals were pretty active considering it was so hot. Water misting stations were a real treat. Missed the fluffy unicorns (rhino), and other exhibits that were also closed. The tram was not in operation either.

Wonderful experience at this zoo. There is quite a large variety of animals with good, informative signage that is not excessively wordy. The Oasis Grill located toward the middle of the zoo, i.e. not at the entrance/exit, has pretty good food and a large pavilion, and I was pleased that they had a plant based option. There is also a different pavilion area that offers Dippin Dots and other frozen food, which was a very welcome treat because there is a lot of walking in between exhibits. Very well worth the admission price, and parking is included in that fee.

Some of the exhibits were closed and they could have put more signs up for the ones that were. About 75% of the empty exhibits had the sign. However, for how massive this zoo is and inexpensive the tickets are it is an absolutely phenomenal experience. I had a great time. Loved the monkeys!!!

The grounds here are somewhat large and give you a great rambling walk around and through the exhibits. Many people rented the 4-wheel bikes to travel the park, and now I can see why - there is a lot of ground to cover. Like many zoos, the animals are not always out in the open but there were ample to make us feel like we were able to see enough for our satisfaction. We may be zoo snobs to some degree being from Omaha, NE where we have one of the best zoo's in the entire country and many other zoo's don't really measure up. This is worth a stop if in the Miami area. However, don't bother going to the Seaquarium, it is a total waste of time and money.

Beautiful zoo. We just bought the year pass for the first time in a few years. They've expanded since the last time we were there. We're planning on taking walks at least once a month this year at the zoo. Lots of trails, good amount of shade, but bring sunscreen. We were there for 3 hours today and saw a bit less than 1/3rd of the animals. If you're worried about the walking rent one of those bikes.

To close out the holiday season, my cousins and I decided to go to the Zoo Miami Zoo Lights 2022. This was such a cute activity to do for the holidays. I recommend this for any family outing, date night, or friendsmas. It’s only $21 which covers admissions as well, and it’s between the hours of 6:30 PM to 10:00 PM. When we walked in, all the staff was very nice and helpful with navigating people through the lines. When we walked in, we were in of all of the thousands of lights the zoo had. They literally transformed the entire zoo it to light adventure. Some of the animals were out and awake so you were able to see some of them as well, but the main focus of the event is to see the beautiful Christmas lights throughout the park. I also liked how each area is open and therefore people are not on top of one another trying to see all the lights. Also, the zoo has people on stilts, characters to take pictures with, holiday movies playing in certain areas, and cute photo, op areas which made the event more interactive. Almost every food stand, shop, and face painting stand were open so guests can still eat, shop, etc during the event. I will definitely be back here next year for the Zoo Lights Nights.

Highly recommend a private tour with Gloria!! She is very knowledgeable, attentive, personable and totally amazing! My child got sick, and Gloria was very sympathetic to our situation. We were invited to use the security facility, where my child had a moment to relax in the AC, given a Pepsi to make her feel better, until she felt ready to continue the zoo tour. Juan, the Security Lead, and Gloria kept checking on us, making sure my child was comfortable, and were very understanding of the situation. I am very grateful that they made our experience amazing, and we were able to enjoy our tour, see a lot of animals and learn so much from Gloria! Thank you so much!

Zoo Miami is amazing year round and a fun place to spend the day. Regardless of your age you would enjoy the surroundings the animals and the plants. There are thousands of plants and its not only the animals you can admire, but you will feel like in a botanical gardens among the lush vegetation and lakes and bird sanctuary. One day may not be enough if you stop and enjoy every area. Lovely place!

Great outdoor experience. Legit zoo with great animal exhibits. The park is very large. Consider getting the bicycle or animal scooter to see it all. There are lots of loose iguanas all over the property. There are alcholic drinks and plenty of shade, cooling zones and smoking areas too.

Visited during Zoo Lights event. I recommend getting there at least 20 minutes ahead of time; they open the gates and start taking guests 30 minutes early. You'll avoid the traffic coming in, find great parking, and have plenty of time to take pics and enjoy the park before it gets too crowded. There are plenty of food and drink stalls (alcoholic beverages as well) throughout the park, and wait times to get anything to drink or eat were minimal. Overall, it was a great family event!

We had such a fun time. This was our second visit. We rented the 6 seater bike today which was a fun experience and helped us get around to see majority of things (the park closed early today for a special event) but on a regular day I could see you getting to see it all. Despite a few of the exhibits being closed, a few being remodeled and some animals being gone, it was a good experience.

Very large zoo. There are carts you can pedal on with 4 adults/bigger kids and 2 additional spots for smaller kids. There's also a motorized option for roughly 2 people. I found it nice to stroll around. Large exhibits with active animals.

LOVE the Zoo. The grounds are always well maintained. Walking the Zoo doubles as a visit to a botanical garden as the plants/landscaping is beautiful. Not enough shade for ridiculously hot South Florida days (even though they have misters throughout the path) but when the weather is tolerable it's total perfection. Lots of attractions are being updated but it's still always worth the visit.

One of the highlights of my visit was the opportunity to see animals up close and personal during the zoo’s interactive experiences. From feeding giraffes to getting a behind-the-scenes look at animal care and conservation efforts, these encounters offered a unique and intimate glimpse into the lives of the zoo’s inhabitants. The educational aspects of Zoo Miami were also impressive, with informative signage and interactive displays providing valuable insights into animal behavior, conservation issues, and the importance of biodiversity. It was clear that the zoo is dedicated not only to providing a fun and entertaining experience for visitors but also to promoting awareness and appreciation for the natural world.

Such a fun zoo for families! Would recommend a wagon, stroller, or renting a cycle as it’s a lot of walking. So many great animals to see and learn about that most zoos don’t have (at least not in MN). Staff was very friendly. Lots of lizards and iguanas roaming around as well which was cool to see. Highly recommend!

Miami Zoo has always been a place my daughter and I enjoyed visiting, however the last three visits haven’t been the best. Everything seems to be closed and we see less and less animals each visit. The airboat ride in the Mission Everglades exhibit was closed, the petting zoo was closed, Wings of Asia was closed and many other exhibits were closed. I don’t know, but it looked like a ghost town. Miami Zoo needs to step it up. Sad to say I don’t regret my decision on not renewing our annual passes. Oh, and your staff aren’t the friendliest.

I enjoy coming here with my family...HOWEVER, the last few trips have been very disappointing. Very few animals to see. While I understand some of them may be resting out of sight, most of them are alone. I truly wonder why. They should have some sort of sign explaining why they are alone...is it because the enclosure is too small for more than one, are they not pack animals??....some sort of educational explanation would be helpful. Furthermore, so many things were closed. They no longer have the fun little bird show they use to do, the petting zoo was closed, the large Avairy was closed, the area where the dinosaur fossil is; closed! Oh...and staff are not the friendliest. They don't smile at all, just look miserable for being there. I Don't think I'll be visiting until I hear things have improved.

Zoo with work throughout the park, lots of attractions closed. There are few animals and many empty enclosures. The little that can be seen is hidden behind shrubs, rocks or at the other end of the enclosures. We walk a lot without seeing much. In addition, they rent rosalies to get around the park (what 3/4 of Americans use to get around + the staff golf cars, it's more of a road than pedestrian paths...) In short, I don't recommend this zoo... it's really not worth it, it's very expensive for what it is...

Honestly, the actual zoo is okay. The staff needs work. Me and a couple friends went and were there as the park opened. Its very confusing where to go in and who to show your tickets too. We made our way around to the Asian elephant exhibit. The trainer was great he was showing off a smaller male that could do tricks and stuff and that was great. Now the problem. There was a bench by the elephant exhibit and we were seated there. We were eating some snacks and another couple came up beside us. They were also eating snacks. We were the only people within 200 feet and we had our masks off so we could eat while we watched. Out of nowhere a lady drove up on a golf cart and immediately started rudely yelling at all of us about the masks. We all complied even though I didn't agree. My friend had a little trouble with his mask and it took him like 15 seconds to get it on. She got very loud and stated if she saw us with them down again the police would be called and we would be removed form the property. Totally unprofessional. An hour later no one in the entire zoo had their masks on including most of the staff. We took pictures of the staff not wearing masks in case there was any more problems. It was 94 degrees, its outside, 100% humidity., the governor removed all restrictions 2 days before. Later there was a huge male wild iguana in the bushes eating flowers. He was very tame so we got closer to take some pictures. I have alot of reptiles as pets and used to breed non venomous as well as venomous snakes. He was quite spectacular. A young male employee on another golf cart stopped and asked us not to touch him because the bite could be infectious. Totally professional and he was 100% correct to do that. That "lady" could use a few lessons from him.

I love this place! They're so many animals that it is insane. I love how all they replicate their environment in a wide open space! I honestly think this park is as big as animal kingdom in Disney. I also think this park is family friendly but you can enjoy this park as a first date.

We were around Christmas time they had some light show unfortunately we missed it. The zoo is really huge so be prepared to walk a lot or you can rent a bike to ride around, kids and adults will be both enjoying it but if on feet arrive in the morning to be able to walk through. The zoo's landscape is beautiful the animals are well maintained and which is very important they have enough space to move around, sometimes these spaces are too large, you can't see where are the animals. They have shows as well, parrot show is highly recommended to watch. Monorail isn't recommended by me you not really can see through the window because of the stickers and the dirt on. The entry fee seems a bit high but it's not if you see what you get for.

If you bring kids just make it an all day event and rent a bike because their is a lot to see

Covid City. The zoo was ok . I wish I could give more stars but I can't. There are not enforcing the mask wearing at all. Like zip ZERO, a lot of chin strappers, nose breathers or not at all. 20 to 30 people clustered at various parts of the zoo. I can tell you right now they are not regulating the capacity at all as stated on there website.. We got there at 10 and left at 12 when it started to get super packed we decided it was no longer safe to be there. Its a shame because I am a zoo member and we used to love to go.

We were on Vacation in Miami from Texas and my boyfriend and I love going to zoos so we decided to visit the Miami Zoo. It definitely wasn’t the best zoo we have been to. There was a good variety of different animals however you do a lot of walking with nothing to see in between animals so no wonder a bunch of people rented bikes. I also didn’t agree with the mask policy since we were outside and there was barely anybody there. It was too hot that day to be wearing masks. However, we still managed to have a good time.

Is a place more for excersise, get suntan, sweat and lose weight than to see animals. Some exhibits are empty, just one tiger left, sleeping all the time. The aviary is full of ducks and some paths are blocked. Between one animal exhibit to another, you have to walk a lot. Animals look bored already. By the time you finish seeing the zoo you are exhausted. Unless you rent the expensive $28 bycicle. Not a good place to take my mother

The zoo is nice. Has big enclosures for the animals, which is think is great. There were a few exhibits we were excited to see but couldn't as the animals weren't present, such as orangutan, and alligator. Also found navigation to be kind of difficult. We found an entire new themed section just as we were walking towards the exit, and by then were just kind of worn out, so didn't check it out. Overall though, a very nice day out.

Best zoo you will ever visit hands down, take your time as it could keep you walking all day, there's that much to visit! Because of this make sure you bring comfortable footwear and enough supplies to last you the trip. Great way to immerse yourself and the family in nature and get close to exotic animals. In children I've noticed getting in touch with nature fosters a deeper sense of connection to community and family.

I went to this park and it was fun! I loved the animals there and it was very cute!! But when we came there it had little to no trash, and when we came back there was trash absolutely everywhere in the parking lot. I will admit that there was trash in the zoo too, it was as if nobody had cleaned it up. If I had owned a zoo this big then I would have someone cleaning up trash 24/7! Other than that the place was amazing and I would totally recommend it, but I had never been that disgusted and that is why there is 2 stars down.

Absolutely a waist of your money! These people have no right charging the public full price when everything inside is closed. Boat rides, metro rail, play grounds, shows of any kind. I understand the pandemic, at least charge half price. Ill never go back there again or will ever recommend anyone to go. Dont waist your time or money

It is a really nice zoo. Most of the animals have large enclosures and they all seem to be well cared for. Although I hate to see any of them at a zoo. A lot of things were closed due to Covid but that's totally understandable. Most people respected the mask requirement. My only bother was that the hand sanitizer stations we're empty.🤔 We went in the morning and there weren't many guest there. So it's not like it would've been all used up. The food from Oasis was 'ok' nothing special. My family did enjoy themselves though and we will return at some point in the future.

It will take about 4 hours to see everything. The rhino feeding was really fun just separated from the rhinos with some bars. The giraffe feeding is even more up close as you are just up on a platform feeding them directly. The exhibits were all open, the amphitheater is awesome and the 2 splash parks for little ones will have them sleeping on the way home! Free parking and a big gift shop.

Highly recommend the VIP tour in what will normally take 5-6 hours to walk can be done in 1.5 hours on a golf cart. She was fun, incredibly informative, and very down to earth.

Place is nice and clean , but not well managed, you can't close the hippos, the rhinos at 10:15 am on a Sunday to clean the enclosure, you do that before opening to the public, like 8 or 9 am? Now too many attractions closed. Prices are also excessive, 2 🍦 ice-cream $12? ...

We had a great experience at the Zoo! If you buy tickets ahead of time, you still have to wait in the long line to enter just as a heads up. The line to get in was really long but moved quickly. It was busy but it felt spaced out enough once you were in the zoo. The cycles were sold out by the time we got in unfortunately. Be prepared for a lot of walking if you don't get a cycle.

I am glad I read the reviews before I went because I rented a safari cycle for my son with flat feet. The cycle was pricey for something that is essential for many people because this zoo is so LARGE and requires lots of walking. EXHIBITS... Some are awesome, like the Asian Aviary. Probably 50% are underwhelming. The comment another reviewer made describing spaced apart exhibits with one animal, is pretty accurate for many exhibits. Roughly 50% of the exhibits are kind of meh, yet are spaced very far apart. That said, it can be very fun if you have a Safari Cycle so the distance doesn't effect you. Just don't get off too much or you will probably be aggravated for reasons I'll touch on. SIGNS... The lack of adequate signs is compounded by the fact that the zoo no longer supplies paper maps. I paid ~$120 for the day and did not get a map. The periodic stationary maps are spaced apart and often don't tell you where you are ("you are here") and aren't in an obvious place to figure it out. Intersections often have no signs or the signs that are there are missing major details (e.g. Asia is this way, but doesn't mention Australia, which is also that way (hypothetical)). This creates a lot of backtracking in a zoo that has too much walking to begin with. There were two entire exhibits that I almost missed because there were no visible signs indicating they were there. TAKE HOME MESSAGE.. DOWNLOAD ZOO MAP BEFORE YOU GO SAFARI CYCLE... If you have asthma, flat feet, arthritis etc.. you will benefit from a Safari Cycle. This is cost prohibitive for many. If that's the case, just plan for first part of the zoo and save the rest for another day. My son and I had a blast on the Safari cycle for the first 3 hours. We got there really early and were ahead of the crowds. Some blah exhibits weren't a problem because we hadn't walked a bunch to get to them. The cycles are fun but are expensive. $40 for the first 3 hours and I think $13 for each additional hour. When we got off the cycle (due to walking areas only) the constant "one way" (COVID related) signs on ground, coupled with inadequate signs telling us which way to go, had us doubling and redoubling back so often it became unpleasant. Many people just ignored the "one way" signs, but it made for an unpleasant experience as I was distracted by having to walk the wrong way on a one way in order to see the exhibits. I've been to Miami, Tampa and Jacksonville Zoo. Jacksonville zoo is my favorite.

Great zoo! The kids loved it! The baby LOVED feeding the camels. Pretty crowded, but they do a good job of directing people and they try to maintain social distancing. Masks are very strickly required. They do not give lids or straws even with the souvenir cups. We had drinks splashing everywhere. Next time we will bring our cups from home and poor our drinks into them. Overall, very nice family day.

(Translated by Google) It is very large and there are many animals divided by continents. It is usually interactive. There are several activities, however at the moment they are suspended due to the covid. They are well prepared with antibacterial gel stands around the entire park and are strict with the use of the mask. And that seemed excellent to me. I give it 4 stars because I could not see several of the animals I wanted (otters for example among others, that their habitat was under maintenance) it would be good if they suddenly gave some kind of notice that animals will not be available. Or I don't know if they really have it and I don't know it. Still to be my first experience I really liked it. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I totally recommend it.

My child loved it, but as an adult I was very disappointed. Unless ur Magellan with a map u will be lost. Virtually no signage, tons of empty land, and the animals looked medicated or depressed. Place has a lot of potential but it just looks like there is no investment in making it better

This was awesome zoo. Well laid out. Really enjoyed the Asian aviary. We did Asia, Africa and Amazon. Walked 4.5 miles. Did NOT make it to Australia or Everglades section. You can rent bicycle cart for 4 at entrance. Or motorized scooter if not up to walking. There is a ride the monorail for $5 but would miss seeing a lot.

I have been to many zoo's in various states. This one is by far lacking and a waste of time. Not very much wildlife. Of course if you're into reptiles there are tons there. If you're looking for an attraction in the Miami/Dade area look elsewhere. Zoo Miami is essentially a waste of time and money.

  • 1/5 Ernesto P. 3 years ago on Google
People not wearing masks, the zoo is overselling tickets online, to "avoid" lines, just to end up putting everyone in a huge line where most people are abosultely careless about mask wearing or social distance. The zoo employees don't care about doing anything about it either. We have a small child and elderly at home, so we had to leave and loose our paid tickets, since the Zoo doesn't care about safety measures during the pandemic.

Very large and well kept zoo. Rent a bike if you are not a fast Walker and want to see the whole thing. It was not busy when we were there and you could easily social distance. But on that 80+ degree day outside the staff would still tell you to pull your mask up. 🤨

Get the BIKE CART thingy. Reserve online in advance. It is SO worth it and makes for a memorable zoo experience. I've been to zoos all over the country from the Philadelphia Zoo to San Diego Zoo - this is truly a delightful experience and huge zoo. Easily spent 5-6 hours here. My favorite thing was the gator tunnel - lil dude scared the HECK out of me, then swam right above my head. Also - find yourself a DOLE WHIP to taste some tropical times.

Quite possibly the best zoo in the country. The cageless feel to the place is really amazing but this is a large, sprawling zoo with such a great deal of experiences. Downside right now is the monorail being temporarily closed and there are a few animal exhibits being revamped but still an amazing park. Highly recommended. We spend hours and hours there when we go!

The zoo has only gotten better with time. The family vehicles are a must if you have at least 2 adults and 2 kids. The vehicles are perfect for keeping out the sun but you need 2 or more people with leg strength to pedal it all day. I loved how they even had row boats to rent to go on the river. The food was pretty good for a zoo. My least favorite was the little river ride near the entrance that was a fee and you basically saw nothing. It was a complete waste of time and money. Other than that it was a good experience

  • 5/5 Ольга . 1 year ago on Google
Big and beautiful zoo. I advise you to buy tickets in advance, you have to wait a very long time on the spot to buy. You can rent a vehicle for a child or for the whole family. We were on a hot summer day, many animals were sleeping or hiding in the shade, which did not allow us to see them. For visitors, there are sometimes water dispensers for refreshment in such a heat. Which is very convenient, thank you. We also saw many different exotic plants. And I was also very interested in the train on which you can ride over the zoo. This time it didn't work. This will be first on my wish list next time.

I think this is a one time experience for your kids if you are in Miami. However I gotta say I felt bad to see the wild animals there… Overall experience is a great workout if you walk 🤣 but we def. Recommend you getting the bikes and car-bikes and stroller to fully engage with the route I am planning to come back since we started by walking on the “wrong” direction. We wanted to go to the feeding area, and when we got there my little one was asleep. Also want for her to enjoy the fountains and water park they have. I think is a full day plan if you do it right and take advantage of the services they offer inside.

My family and I have our memberships we love the zoo, and my grandmother loves visiting with us. The Zoo is very handicap accessible and it makes it such an easy and enjoyable visit for us. We recently stopped in during the evening for the Zoo Lights. We had a wonderful time. We got the tickets with the added bundle of cookies and hot chocolate, couple of us got a little upgrade for Irish hot chocolate (worth it). Beautiful light displays, was a wonderful night overall, was actually surprised of how active some animals were! The Florida Panther was fantastic to see- running around and hopping in the bushes!

This zoo is AMAZING! Feeding the giraffes is such a fun experience that the kids love, there are so many other encounters, a variety of animals to see, water play, playgrounds, and good food and snack options. Plan to spend at least 3 hours here to see it all and spend some time with the howler monkeys and the giraffes. Great time.

We spent a nice day at the zoo this past weekend and really enjoyed it! The staff was friendly and very respectful of our service dogs. They did ask my friend and I the 2 legal questions which we always appreciate. There weren't a lot of animals out, but the ones we did see seemed to be very well taken care of. There's lots of gazebo style resting areas with water fountains. The zoo itself is very accessibility friendly. My only complaint was the process to get inside the zoo. We got to the ticket counter and the man there told us we had to go to guest services first to get clearance for the service dogs. Which in itself is not a problem... except you have to then walk all the way back to the front for tickets, and then all the back again by guest services for the entrance. For disabled handlers, that can be a lot of walking, and navigating crowds with a service dog can be stressful/hard as it is. I definitely recommend buying your ticket online if you are visiting with a service animal. I wish guest services was able to sell us the ticket there. Thank you for the nice visit regardless! We will definitely be back.

That was something special. All animals look healthy and well groomed. I think , I never saw 9 giraffes at ones. So many different types of elephants and bears. You need a whole day and a lot of energy to see everyone there. If you tired, you can take Rylable- riding animals. I think, my 6 year old enjoyed this the most . Great experience and a lot of new information was found on a way around Miami Zoo. Highly recommend to visit!!!
