I was just at this pub tonight. The live Irish folk music has inspired me to listen to more when I go back to Canada. Very talented musicians. The staff are pleasant. I wish I tried the food, but I will next time I return. Even if you’re a tourist, it makes you feel like you aren’t. I highly recommend coming here.

So we booked a table for 10.. rang up before to ensure we were seated together. They said yes we will make sure you’re seated together. Came to the venue and we had two seated separate and 8 together on probably the smallest table for a group! So disorganised. Won’t come here again

This is an underrated bar in my opinion. It's somewhat of an institutionz and when it comes to an authentic Irish bar with a welcoming and authentic Irish Music session, you couldn't go wrong with the Spailpín. Situated in the heart of Cork City, the place (I think) takes it's name from the infamous Irish Poem "An Spailpín Fánach" (meaning the wandering labourer), a poem that describes the harshness of living as a roving labourer in 18th Century Ireland. There is a session that welcomes everyone once a week running in this bar downstairs and concerts (such as during the Cork Folk Festival) are held upstairs. There is a small stage and a deceptively good sound system upstairs for festival gigs. I like the lighting in this pub, it's a mix of candles and really old lamp shades. A regular haunt for sure and worth a visit if you haven't been.

Great pub friendly staff great pint panto up stairs was so good too very good actors and definitely a few new faces to keep an eye out for on the acting scene globally as theres stars in the making......keep that going love they adult pantos ...to me it needs more use as a function room up stairs seemed a little bit dated and neglected but a real little jem of a pub

Staff were working hard and kept the place clean, even if it was crowded. There was a lovely group playing trad music in a small room.

Fantastic trad music spot, decorated with old world rustic charm and surrounded with a cosy atmosphere..... a genuine traditional Irish Pub. Staff here are friendly. I'm glad its on my doorstep, if you are ever in Cork put it on your list of places to visit, you wont be disapointed

I was with a friend from abroad who went upstairs to the venue area to check if her friends were there at 1;30 am. The staff were unnecessarily rude and aggressive. Honestly, it had we kind of shocked and embarrassed how they spoke to her considering she didn't speak english as her first language, and was by no means combative. If you want to show your foreign friends trad ect just send them to the sin e.

Arrived about 7pm on a Saturday and was empty had a deep and old pub smell the one with humidity and all. Had couple or stouts and left. Not my favorite place in cork but looks very authentic for 1920s

Cool venue, friendly staff and nice chilled security personnel also. Techno gig upstairs was brilliant.

Good place for a drink. I went to a show upstairs the show was good but the venue was bad, freezing and just not nice for a show more of a summer kind of place upstairs. Downstairs is fine. Good selection of beers no one hanging out at the bar so no probs getting served.

Fabulous place with the typical charm of old Irish pubs. I appreciated the Killarney blonde in the draft beer options, not easy to find. Highly recommended

Such a versatile music venue. I've seen pretty much any genre of music in there at some stage. Tye upstairs is a nice seperation for gigs

One of the most authentic and pulsing musical pubs in Cork, come and you'll find fires warmer than expected: the ones burning in the hearth of players and in the souls of the singers.

👍👍 Awesome place to grab a bite to eat and have a nice drink or three in downtown Cork. I had the fish and chips and the wife had the lamb stew...they were both perfect. Service was first rate and I'd highly recommend heading to the bar for a talk with the experts on a food whiskey choice! You cant...

👍 Crazy good prices on food and beverages. You sacrifice attentive service, but everyone I talked to there was pleasant and helpful. The food was good and there were actually a number of beers that I have not seen elsewhere in the Cork area. I would not say this is a must do if visiting from abroad, b...
