It's not a 4-star hotel for sure Pros: Nice staff + They have a deal with Q-Park, giving you a discount for the parking (about instead of paying €45, you only pay €14) + A good location Cons: The room wasn't good and comfortable at all; The worst view (picture attached). The air conditioner had an internal timer and it was on only for a few hours and in the middle of sleeping it was turning off automatically! + With such quality, super expensive!

Location is great. I loved my breakfast. ❤️ As I am not a big fan of big fried food, .. Their offered smoothie, Granola, cheese and fruit selection was perfect for me. Loved it. The noise and small beds are acceptable in the City. I guess. 😁

We spent two nights in that hotel and were very impressed. The breakfast buffet was excellent and the room was also very nice and modern. Them location is good, we walked to all major sights. Many shops and restaurants are close to the hotel The hotel offers discounted parking in a nearby public parking garage. We were pleasantly surprised that the parking garage offered a possibility to charge your EV.

I stayed in this hotel last year as part of a group for a couple of nights. The hotel itself was clean and comfortable and the breakfast for a vegan quite acceptable. What wasn't acceptable was the dinner in the evening. They were notified before I arrived that I was a vegan with nut allergies and that the food must be prepared in the hotel. Instead they handed me a burger of dubious origin that they had bought in a supermarket or elsewhere which I couldn't eat. Although I repeatedly asked for something such as a baked potato and salad instead they could not supply this basic food. One of the staff told me confidentially that all the food was prepared elsewhere and put in microwaves in the hotel. There was no proper chef. I ended up with no dinner as the Vegetarian Restaurant on the Coal Quays were temporarily shut. The waiter told me that they did not have potatoes in the hotel. What kind of a hotel is that? A four star hotel that cannot produce a simple baked potato! I thought the evening food was disgrace. Then the manager of the dining room lied to my tour guide telling him that I got a delicious vegan meal. How dare he lie about something like that! I was annoyed with my tour guide for believing this man

Nice, clean hotel, friendly staff both at reception and in the restaurant. Rooms are a decent size with every needed for your stay. Only complaint is the wall are very thin and I could hear the room next to me. They seem to be enjoying themselves but it didn't last long so not to bad 🤣🤣

The location is good and the rooms are clean. A big negative for me was the heating system which is controlled from the front desk . The big negative with the room is the heating controls in the room are locked down to provide a minimal temperature.I highlighted this on a number of occasion but my room was cold. I would not stay again for this reason only .The staff were very pleasant and helpful and the breakfast was fine .

4* is a preposterous over-exaggeration of the standard of this hotel. I'd liken the Maldron to a Holiday Inn, minus the necessities you'd expect when staying 2 nights. My room overlooked what can only be described as 'that drawer of miscellaneous bits you have nowhere else to store': a courtyard of bins, bags of waste and pipes. Wanting some air flow, I cracked the window open and woke up to a room (and hair) that absolutely stunk of cooking. I was given a roll and a half of toilet roll and two small towels; an ironing board covered in bits of sticky white bobbles which meant I had to use my pillow case over the top. In place of soap was a quarter of a bottle of hand/shower gel in a dispenser that had fallen off the wall. As for the shower, I'm all for the Wim Hoff method but on this occasion I did not appreciate the tepid water (at best). As for the lighting: prepare to look like a clown if you attempt to apply make-up in the bathroom or main room. This isn't a spa, two down-lighters do not provide adequate lighting for an entire room. The final straw was waking up with a rash from the bed clothes. For me this was a business trip, but my honest review is left in the hope that a family looking to treat themselves does not fall for the misleading 4* description of this hell hole. I left after 1 night and opted for a tried and tested hotel.

The hotel is clean and the staff is friendly. Everything basic is available to you. The only problem was, they had a night menu but when we called in to order, they said they didn't have the night staff. I believe that's an ongoing thing. We could have had outside if we knew the night service would be closed. But I would rate 5 stars on cleanliness and amenities.

Nice hotel, great location. Breakfast is average at best. Especially if you have your breakfast late, the hot food has been sitting for hours. Bacon and puddings were rock hard. Good choice of croissants and fruit.

The bed was so dreamy & comfortable that I am looking to buy one for my home! The hotel is in a great location, easy walk to everything & at the back of one of the most busiest streets, filled with cafes, restaurants, shops etc where you'll likely be dining anyway. The front desk staff are excellent, always happy to suggest places to eat, things to do etc & they are so friendly. John on the night shift is incredible, takes great interest in guests & has superb ideas on places to visit & he'll guide you in the right direction for decent Irish stew & a good pint of Guinness - absolutely necessary when visiting Ireland! I would avoid the hotel's cafe though, coffee is very disappointing as is the food & it seems the staff are inexperienced so instead of saying they don't know how to do something & take the opportunity to learn something new, they just tell you they'll get back to you but never do! Definitely worth staying here though, the accommodation is exceptional.

On this trip to Cork we decided to us the The South Mall as we normally stay at The Maldron in John Redmond. The location is just perfect for the town's bars and restaurants. The Check In was was quick and efficient. However, the room allocated to us on arrival was not suitable. We contacted the reception staff who organized an alternate room within minutes. - I was impressed with the new room (the bed was fantastic) and the staff for sorting the small problem out quickly. We only used the bar a couple of times. However, again the staff was obliging and cheerful. The breakfast was very tasty and the selection was very good, this coupled with the breakfast staff who again were very helpful. Thank you The Maldron for making our weekend and kudos to your staff. We'll be booking soon for our next visit.

Maldron was super easy to work with, they had our room ready early in the morning which we were not expecting. The front desk were very helpful in explaining local transportation to us and were able to provide us recommendations. They were very accommodating when we needed more towels and water as well! The room was incredibly clean and comfortable after a week of traveling. I would definitely stay here again!

Beautiful room and friendly staff. It appears the rooms were recently renovated, as everything seemed new and modern. I have but one small suggestion: Coming from the US, we were not familiar with the need to put the room key card in a slot to turn on the lights. My daughter figured it out eventually, but it would have been helpful to have been told at check-in. Otherwise, everything was perfect!

The room was situated by the Air conditioning machines and thus made it very noisy. The bed was very lumpy, I got up in the middle of night to remake the bed and discover that mattress protector was obviously washed or dried at too high a temperature and because of the material involved it all bunched up, and didn't stay on the mattress, thus the bed was lumpy. I was disappointed the room didn't have a bath, only a shower and because the structure of the shower door the water goes everywhere and the wooden door frame of the bathroom door is all damaged. The safe didn't work, I reported this on the first night and was told it would be looked into, but it was fixed. One of the days the bedroom wasn't laundered when we returned in the evening I reported this and the room was laundered immediately. The breakfast was good and the staff very pleasant

Overnight stay for work. Car park off site but good deal @€10 overnight. Rooms were spotless. Got room service, could have been better, chips undercooked and toastie was more a sandwich but ate it anyway!! Would definitely stay again but just no room service

Great little hotel, great location, great staff, very clean. Small tweaks and changes and you have a perfect hotel. Only a small gripe. We had breakfast around 9am but a few of the options were dry and hard. Needs to be looked at. Also, I asked about an extra night to the receptionist but didn't get a follow up.

Had family room with my brother for a short 2 night stay. Room was clean spacious and had a comfy bed and pillows. Had a great sleep. Rm 406 had an unsightly inner yard view and the tv didn’t work. Took a few mentions to get fixed. On the other hand we had cycles that they stored securely without issue. Desk staff were very good. Didn’t eat there but evening service was always busy with Americans. I’d go again.

The Maldeon Hotel in Cork is very well located. Close from any amenities. Shopping, restaurants, bars. The breakfast was really good. Maybe I should add a little bit more variety. But the Irish breakfast is there!!! The room was very comfortable with exemption of the mattress that was a little bit soft for me.

We had a 2 night stay at the Maldron for a short break in Cork. The location is fantastic - super close to everything; lots of bars, restaurants and shops close by. We used the parking at Q Park with the reduced rates offered by the hotel - you just need to get a ticket then bring it to reception where they will validate it for their lower rate (13 euros per day - so 26 total for our 48 hour visit). Our room was good. Spacious, clean and comfortable. I would most definitely recommend for a short stay.

Negatives Room was small for 3 people Shower was installed with no glass on one side & water poured onto the floor at each shower. Room 407 has lots of noise of wheely bins moving & tipping of glass bottles at unsociable hours which disturbed our sleep. Positives Amazing buffet breakfast Great central location Friendly staff

Well what can I say , I booked 2 rooms at your hotel from the 01 to the 04 of December. I had asked for an early check- in for both rooms as my guests had a very early start travelling to Cork . When we arrived at the hotel only one room was ready that was OK as its not certain that they would be ready , it's only luck but as I had asked well in advance I thought that this could and should have been organised. But what really upset my guests and me was on the morning of there departure as they were about to enjoy there breakfast, which they had asked a member of your team was it OK to help themselves to breakfast to which your member replied of course no issue work away . Another member of your staff shouted at my guests and more importantly your guests that this was not on . They and me , when they told me later that morning , found this nothing short of unprofessional, ignorant and damn right rude . Surely this member of your staff could have dealt with this in a more appropriate way , and a bit more mannerly as it was your staff had told them that there was no issue . This has left a really bad taste in my mouth to be honest . It was a very degrading for my guests to be honest and after having a great weekend in Cork it really upset me and more importantly my guests .

wow this was everything you want in a hotel - clean and new, great central location, friendly staff. Good family spot but also nice bar and restaurant. Excellent cleaning service and flexible in room dining. Very reasonably priced on a busy bank holiday week

Large rooms with nice big beds. The breakfast buffet was great. Large selection of hot food for a full Irish, continental options like pastries, muffins, pancakes, banana bread, cereal, granola and yogurt pots as well as gluten free bagels and muffins. The staff were really accommodating and said that they could make omelettes to order for vegetarians as well as vegan options. (we got a vegan filled bagel with mushrooms, courgette and spinach which was very tasty) (I do wish there was vegan/veggie sausages). There was also a decent coffee machine and lots of alternative milks

We were there for Cork Jazz festival. Great atmosphere in the hotel. Friendly staff, nice drinks, good food too (chicken quesadillas) We'd been all over Cork but the band they had Saturday night was the highlight of our weekend. Great music! Will be back next year for sure.

Nice hotel. The room was good but no water was provided. The meal at the restaurant was basic and the servers were not well organized. Location is a major plus...

I really enjoyed my stay here. It is a brillant location and the staff were very nice in reception and restaurant. The lady servicing the rooms was very obliging in giving me extra, coffee, milk towels etc. I would recommend this hotel. I liked the rooms and they were very clean. Also very comfy beds. However, with regard to the breakfast this left a lot to be desired for a few reasons. The food choice is fine However the coffee in the machine was lukewarm. Also I noticed 2 flies walking around the ham and cheese that were available for your guests. I did mention to one of the waiters due to hygiene reasons. He told me that he could not be around swatting them?? I told him I did not expect him too but the food basically should be covered. Once I mentioned it. I feel this food should have been binned. I also said to the restaurant supervisor. This would raise food hygiene issues for me.

Lovely hotel in an ideal location. As we are living in a pandemic we were very uneasy about staying in a city hotel but from the moment we stepped inside we felt relaxed. This hotel is spotlessly clean the staff are very friendly and efficient. Our room catered for all our needs. We had breakfast and dinner and the food was perfect. Look forward to returning on our next trip to Cork city.

We stayed for a one night date night Saturday 6th November 2021. We were greeted at reception by a friendly and upbeat team, our room was just perfect. Lovely view, really clean and modern. We booked the three course special and every course was really tasty and well presented. Checkout was fast and hassle free. 10/10, thanks to Robert, Samantha and all the staff.

My friends and i decided to stay at this hotel for 2 nights for an exam we had in cork! We emailed for student rates and they were very responsive throughout. We had no regrets ! The rooms were spacious, clean and modern ! The Bed was comfortable :) Reception was welcoming. Breakfast was excellent and they had a coffee machine. The hotel is connected to Red Bean Roastery which offers good coffee as well ! Location is perfect in town. 5/5. I would definitely stay here again!

Nice hotel, very central to the main streets in the city. Breakfast was buffet style, with good choice on offer. I had some of the hot food, it tasted pretty good but as with all buffets the food can become a bit dry when it sits out. I recommend the hotel as the price is competitive given the good location.

Simply the best, great location, close to the center but in a quiet place. The room is the best, modern, quiet, spotless, the bed was great to sleep on, I was super happy for having a bath, it made my stay even better. Good breakfast, many options 👌 the staff was very friendly. I'll definitely going back.

We celebrated a family gathering over the Christmas period & I couldn't recommend this hotel enough. The food was superb & the staff were great to deal with. All Covid safety procedures were in place & everyone felt safe.

Nice little hotel that's close to the city centre. It's a bit hard to find due to having a small entrance but the quality of the hotel makes up for this. Our room was lovely with comfortable beds and a spotless bathroom. The bar area downstairs was very nice for enjoying a drink and watching some football. I'd recommend this hotel for those wanting a short stay in the city while being close to the city centre.

Room 522 : We stayed 2 nights in Maldron, South Mall. Shelley in reception greeted us with a welcoming smile. All staff friendly and helpful. Our only criticism would be lack of storage space. There were no drawer only a hanging wardrobe.

  • 3/5 Andrew W. 2 years ago on Google
Uncomfortable beds, the room temperature was hard to regulate. I booked an executive room but it was basically a standard room with a coffee maker. Staff didn't tell me about wifi, breakfast or any of the hotel's service's . The location is good but hotel not worth paying extra.

  • 5/5 Denis C. 1 year ago on Google
We had a family event at the hotel and it was excellent. Everyone left with a smile. The attention to detail and the service was great. The food was excellent and on time. Indeed the flexibility shown for different groups and the friendliness of the staff was clear. The staff worked hard and the communication and teamwork was clear as they served and cleaned the areas. I would recommend this hotel for the efforts made for people to enjoy their stay, however brief. The central location in Cork city makes this an ideal location.

  • 4/5 Jewel M. 1 year ago on Google
The rooms were pretty nice and comfortable, all of the staff we spoke with were friendly and helpful. They advertised set meals (breakfast and/or dinner) but didn't appear to have many, or any options for someone who can't eat wheat. Fortunately the location was very walkable for some very good food options.

The Maldron Hotel is itself a good hotel, if it wasn’t for the fire alarms. I have stayed at this hotel twice with a 3 year gap and both times I was woken by a fire alarm. The first time it was a single incident, it only happened once in the 4 days that I stayed. But nevertheless I was woken by a fire alarm in the middle of the night, only to be told that it was a accident. I didn’t even get an apology or even something to signalizes an apology like a little chocolate. The second time it was two incidents within a 3 night stay. So obviously they didn’t fix the issues. During checkout, at the second stay, the person in-front of me complained about the fire alarm and the staff just said that it’s good that the fire alarm worked and that its there for your safety. No apology. While I agree with this I also think that when the fire alarm goes on so often it will be taken less seriously at some point, which defeats the safety purpose. At any other hotel the staff would apologize to the customer instead of trying to explain why it went off and why its good that it went off. On the other hand the hotel is modern and clean, the hotel is also in a great location for its price point. But it still wasn’t worth it in my opinion. If I could request a refund I definitely would.

Found the staff very friendly, the hotel very clean and the bedrooms so comfortable. We only had breakfast and it had a fine selection of foods. When we come to Cork again we will stay in your hotel as it is value for money and overall excellent

Location was excellent. Room was modern, clean spacious and fresh. A/C was effective and quiet. Staff are exceptionally helpful. The car parking is not immediately nearby. Given that it was a dry and warm day, this was not an issue but if it had been raining?

Stayed here last night as we are up for Westlife, Hotel Staff are lovely and we’re very accomadating as we checked in late and they didn’t mind, we also got upgraded to an executive suite for no extra cost and it was beautiful. I do not know the gentleman we were dealing with upon check in but When I was booking the hotel I dealt with Lucy and also dealt with her when we were checking out. She is a credit to your staff extremely helpful and was so lovely. We will definitely be back again
