Terrible experience at this Clayton hotel . Stayed June 15 with 2 other couples . Very warm in cork and air conditioning didn’t work properly in any room . One room had a bad smell and when we tried to change it they said no other rooms are available . This was a lie . We went on line and found a room on their site that was available . This was a flat out lie. After this issue we went to the bar and had 4 drinks for 97 euros . I little over priced but ok . The next morning the GM tracks down a couple and says we didn’t pay our bar bill when I had a receipt that I paid . The GM Lorraine was not professional at all . She was nasty and made it seem like we tried to not pay our bar bill even though I had a receipt . I would not stay here ever again .

I was really impressed with the staff at this hotel. The rooms looked new and clean, the pool area and steam room was nice (make sure you book). The staff were really amazing. It felt like 5 star service. They had no shortage of staff at their restaurant or bars unlike every other hotel at the moment. A few little great experiences I had with staff. They walked me to show me where things were in the hotel rather than pointed. The were able to change my room because of a problem I had and not due to them, even though it was a busy weekend. Thank you for a great stay, I will recommend you hotel.

I've never stayed here, but I've dined here and attended a number of meetings / conferences. In an excellent location close to the city centre but easily accessible from the Dublin Rd or the South Ring Rd. Nice selection of meeting rooms of various sizes. Extensive Bar / Restaurant menu. All of my menu choices were very tasty. I will definitely be returning!

I travelled to Cork with my elderly mother and sisters and we booked 2 nights in a triple and double room. We booked the Clayton because we had a good visit there 4 years ago and it is a good location, particularly for my elderly mother as it kept walking to city centre to a minimum. This visit was very disappointing, considering the high cost of the stay. My mother's bedroom was very cold, heating did not work. Staff brought a plug in heater but the room was too big for the small heater to have any effect. We requested that she be moved the following morning. This was very inconvenient for an 83 year old lady. The heating was much more satisfactory in the new room. The room I shared with my sister's was not of a good standard. The single beds were small, more suited to a child. The bathroom was unappealing, awful, cheap looking tiles. There was a shower curtain on the bath and it was stained from mildew. The tissues provided in the bathroom were like sandpaper - unusable. Breakfast was the most disappointing aspect of the stay - no bowls or plates on both mornings, porridge was like gruel, waited 20 minutes for a boiled egg. Some of the breakfast staff were unhelpful and borderline rude. We decided not to dine in the hotel for lunch or dinner because the standard was so poor. Cutbacks were very evident during our stay. We did not get value for our money and were not satisfied with our visit. It's a pity to see such a decline in standards.

What can I say? Brilliant hotel, not far from the town centre. Modern and beautiful interiors. Lovely staff. Swimming pool was amazing and the jacuzzi. Shower in our room was brilliant ( must say best bit) and it was lovely room temperature although got a little warm during the night. However overall best hotel I’ve stayed in!

The hotel is nice and the staff were friendly but the rooms need some attention. The balcony has this cloth like material that separates the room balconies, but they shake and make loads of noise in the wind. The room needs some attention due to issues like dust, the wardrobe being broken, bathroom door not closing. The lamp buttons are filthy. The location is ok but around the back of the hotel there are a lot of drug issues and I know the hotel can't help this. The pubs and restaurants are about a 10 minute walk away.. When I checked in, I asked could I change rooms as there is only one person staying due to the person travelling with me became ill and had to stay home. . The reception said they can't do anything for me, so I asked for a reduced rate if possible but they refused. I think in this day and age that was a bit greedy considering that they're lumping these increases onto people to make up for thier losses during the covid lock downs. It's going to come back and bite them when they least expect it. Any way I'll enjoy my stay for now but more could be done to sort this hotel as it's standards seem to slip in certain areas and it was not worth the money they charged for one night.

Very impressed with this hotel. Girls on reception were very friendly and helpful. I thought the open atrium was a lovely feature. Our room was very nice and I loved the balcony - just missing some furniture out there. Central location. Food in the bar was lovely and the breakfast was nice but maybe not hot enough. Would stay again.

Nice hotel, nice staff. The room was large, a tad expensive but very comfortable. If you are American it has AC which is a huge plus. Hot water, great water pressure, very comfortable bed. Nice breakfast! Our room had a great view of the river.

Beautiful hotel centre city’ location breakfast was excellent unfortunately the bar was a complete disaster.Waited over twenty minutes until finally went to a nearby bar. The residents bar was even worse. Give it a miss if you like a beer. February 19 2023. Kevin.

Great location - close to everything. Lovely facilities with large underground carpark too. The hotel was clean & a spacious room. Breakfast was delicious, but most importantly the staff were excellent- friendly, helpful and polite. Thank you for a lovely visit.

Good location, nice room, comfy bed. Unfortunately bar let it down. No Guinness on a Saturday night, no ice on the Sunday, bar staff weren't terribly pleasant either. We didn't eat there so I can't comment on that.

Loved the hotel, was so central for shopping, restaurants etc. Everything within walking distance. Food was fab, we ended up eating both nights in the hotel restaurant and we all found the food to be of a really high quality and staff were brilliant, very friendly and accommodating.

We had a great river facing room. Gym is ok. Breakfast is usual Irish breakfast, nothing special and disappointing. Parking is additional and once you find it it's convenient. The ramp into it is a but challenging

Breakfast very disappointing, hot food was barely warm, wasn't told that you had to order fried, poached or boiled eggs. Had to ask twice for tea & also to have used bowls/plates removed from table. Location of hotel is great & it clean. Would nook room only if returning.

We had a poor experience. Upon check in our room had no power at most outlets. Could not watch TV, plug in chargers, or make coffee. We were brought a extension cord! And told we could get coffee 24/7 in bar. In morning I went down for coffee and was told it be a while for unit to get ready. We had to leave, so no coffee!... bottom line a very poor experience! Headed to Clayton Hotel in Limerick Saturday... if you can compensate us it would be appreciated. Alan Krygowski

We enjoyed staying at the Clayton mainly because of its city center location, it’s price (relative to other hotels in the area) and the view onto the quays was pleasant. We stayed four nights on our first week in Cork and one night of the following week in our last night in Cork. On our second visit, we asked to change room because we requested a double-bed only room, but were given a double and a single bed. Also, some parts of the carpet were dirty. The receptionist at the front desk was very helpful and we were very satisfied in the new room. We did not eat a meal there, but the menu looked interesting and the prices seemed reasonable. We did enjoy drinks in the bar. One specific disappointment was that shampoo was not included in the shower. Perhaps it’s available on request, but we decided to buy our own.

All of your staff were so welcoming from the moment we checked in with Ada . Very professional and knowledgeable . We had dinner in the bar the first night . Met again with very polite , pleasant and professional staff throughout the globe bar . Richard who I assume was a manager was so professional making us feel very welcome and he gave us some great local hints about Cork also . Food was to a very high standard , we were a family ..2 adults 2 kids . All dishes tasty and very well presented. The staff in the bar made our evening! Breakfast each morning was also delicious and again staff were fabulous albeit busy especially on the Sunday morning. Requested pancakes and specialty coffees and was no problem whatsoever to accommodate our requests .Used the pool on both days in the leisure centre and on both occasions all staff we met were friendly, professional and very courteous . We had a wonderful stay at your hotel and we will choose your hotel when we visit Cork the next time . Thank you to all !!!

We stayed at The Clayton Hotel at the end of July for 4 nights. The hotel is in a fantastic location for shops, restaurants and the English Market. The pool and gym areas are great and well staffed. After a few issues with refreshing our room and the bathroom, I can’t thank Lorraine the General Manager enough for her leadership skills and support. Our concerns were dealt with quickly, and the hotel was very supportive and changed our room. Our only other gripe was that the buffet breakfast was limited and we had to ask for ‘poached eggs’ when they arrived they were cooked perfectly. Overall a good experience and responsive reception and management. We would stay here again.

A nice hotel and very comfortable rooms but the breakfast was very disappointing. If you don’t want an Irish breakfast the choice is limited, asked a waitress for the menu, she said there was none! I asked for poached eggs they came out very undercooked and when I asked for them to be cooked a bit more they came back out still with raw egg whites! It was 260 euro for one person to stay so expected more. Poor value for money.

Absolutely lovely modern hotel with large rooms fitted with comfortable beds, AC, beautiful bathroom and best of all balconies overlooking the river, conveniently located in the city. Friendly staff, spacious lobby. Would be my first choice again on a return stay.

I had no towels in my bedroom on my arrival, which is a bit disappointing for such a high standard hotel (I let know the receptionist who solved the issue quickly), I found the waiter/waitresses not well prepared. I've been told to wait for a table so that I could have dinner by a waitress, and she even gave me the menu, then I've been told by another waitress the Kitchen was closed and that I couldn't have dinner. Basically, a waste of time

Really enjoyed our stay in Cork. Every staff member encountered was great and the room was really clean and comfortable. The only problem was in the bar, it was hard to get served but there were Christmas parties in and it makes sense. Breakfast was great and the pool was fun. This is my second visit and I'll be back.

Haven't returned to this hotel since lockdown finished when I was very disappointed. This time I was very pleasantly surprised, great room large and clean. Ate in the bar good food and value for money. Centrally located and easy walk into the city.

Ok for a few nights. Don’t go booking it expecting a relaxing spa experience. Both days I visited the pool ,sauna and steam room it was full of children having swimming lessons. I think it doubles up as a toddler swim school. The gym on the other hand is fantastic. Rooms ok for a few nights, great location.

Breakfast was excellent. Staff was helpful and friendly. Room was spacious with good workspace. No socket outlets near bedside. However, the big draw-back is that the room was generally cold, heating is inadequate and woks only intermittently. I will not stay at Clayton again unless its high summer.

  • 4/5 Noreen Browne (. 4 months ago on Google
The bathroom is definitely dated. The shower could do with updating when competitors with similar prices have modern power or rainfall showers. We stayed in Clayton Bristol in the Summer and the room especially the bathroom was like a different hotel experience. Also please increase vegetarian menu as we specifically ate out for breakfast based on cost versus value for money for vegetarian or vegan option

Nice modern hotel in the middle of Cork City, just a walk from both the main bus station and train station. Plus if you're driving it has car park space. Easy to get to and once you're there it's beautiful. The rooms are very tidy and the style is modern. The bed was very comfortable. The breakfast is self service (except tea/coffee and most egg variations except scrambled), but it still delicious with food choice ranging from Irish breakfast to fruits to cereals and pastries. I really loved my stay here and if you're looking for a hotel in Cork that's well connected this is a great place.

The hotel is located very close to the city center of Cork. It has big rooms with comfortable beds and it is very quiet and clean but a bit old fashioned. There are no amenities in the bathroom (something unusual for a 4 star hotel). The breakfast was very good.

My wife & I stayed at your hotel. The location & parking very great. However we did have an unpleasant stay. The temperature in the room was far too warm to be able to sleep. This was the case even with the AC turned on at its coldest setting. We were unable to sleep & got up at 5am & left the hotel. Obviously we are very disappointed with our stay as a result. I wanted to let you know this as hopefully you can do something to improve this for other guests.

This hotel cant be rated as 4 star hotel ! Homeless people sheltering around hotel 24/7, Room 402 number of large stains on the carpet, No bath or shower in the bedroom, only shower for disabled people, would like manager to explain why bedroom with disabled shower was allocated to us ? Hanging Balls in the center of hotel probably was never cleaned since installed, Hotel needs revamp ! Leisure Centre shared with locals, locker room untied, showers no soap shampoo exacta Swimming pool, sauna, steam room good if not busy, no outside light to area only artificial lighting Food Excellent 10/10

It was ok to stay for a night but I wouldn't stay for longer. Excellent location but hotel needs an upgrade. Carpets were filthy, mattress very uncomfortable. Delicious food in restaurant but toilets downstairs were in disgrace state. It looked it wasn't clean for a week at least. Staff helpful and friendly.

Really nice hotel but absolutely NO sleep for 3 nights with drunk and loud guests in corridors and banging on doors every night. Stag parties and general crassness. No oversight of late night disturbances near bedrooms. Apart from that ...Great!

Great Hotel, one of the best I’ve stayed in, pillows amazing, bed clean and comfortable. Room service was finished while we were having breakfast. Staff are friendly and super professional and the hotel is in a really convenient location for pretty much anything in the city. Pool was very nice and went down a treat with my daughter

Just spent an amazing weekend with my sister and her three adult daughters. I cannot recommend the hotel highly enough. Reception staff were so helpful and friendly. Spa and swimming facilities gorgeous leaving us all feeling revitalised. The food in the restaurant was excellent. The rooms were clean, large and everyone did everything to make my sisters 60th weekend away very special. We will definitely be coming back.

Check in could be managed better Spacious & clean rooms, comfy bed Dinner was good, service could be improved, the dinner inclusive menu definitely needs more choices at least for stay over guests. Breakfast is absolutely excellent, quality of the buffet is one of the best experienced in Ireland so far (I'm a regular traveler), pastries look fresh and are delicous. Many options available.

Shout out to front officer manager Debbie Martin , who went above and beyond by looking after us with some special touches for my partner's birthday! :) Definitely coming back !

Clayton Hotel is quite a nice hotel overall and I believe its been one of the best vacations I've had since my life currently. The exterior and interior is pretty quiet and peaceful, giving the idea of the hotel from John Wick, at least as it was my impression. The given room service was pretty standard and when you place the "Please Clean my Room" sign and you go somewhere, you can expect it to be cleaned perfectly and everything else being back to what it was originally. The location is as well pretty nice considering that it was quite close to the center which had given myself and my family more to explore and see beautiful things. The room that we had bought was outstanding and it was one of the greatest and cleanest rooms to offer. It had 2 phones to be able to phone for the hotel service, it had 2 lamps with 2 mini lamps which allow you to perhaps study with. The bathroom had a safety mat to avoid slipping, 3 mirrors and a fully functional sink and on top of all that, our room also had a A/C and a safe in which you may store valuables in.

This is a nice, modern hotel. The bartender, Brian, is very knowledgeable about local liquors (try Irish gin!). Nice breakfast spread with lots of options. Beautiful lobby with lounge areas if you want to hang out somewhere other than your room. Daily housekeeping. In-room fridge and electric kettle. Unless you're desperate, stick to tea in the room and get brewed coffee at breakfast. The instant stuff is just foul. Glad the windows opened, since the ventilation system in our room seemed to be on the fritz. We finally asked for a fan, which helped. Couldn't leave the window open at night due to street noise.

The food in restaurant is limited. Some of the dishes need a review as lack flavour particularly curry and pasta. The staff in earlier part of week were so welcoming and attentive. Staff in latter part of week when hotel was quieter need more training in my opinion. Breakfast was great and aside from alot of external noise at night the bedrooms are very comfortable

Waited 2hours to check in with three kids under 5. Check in said 3pm but staff insisted the rooms are "ready when they're ready" that was 5pm for us. Car park is €12 each time you leave or over night so if you leave more than once a day you pay over and over. Great pool and room was nice. I think this would be better for couples without kids. Great location. Restaurant staff were very nice.

Lovely modern hotel, well maintained. Food and drink great. Staff very friendly. Very conveniently located close to city centre and public buses. Under ground floor public car park has lift access to hotel reception. Good discount for overnight hotel guests. Spa and leisure centre also available. Would highly recommend and plan to definitely return soon.

Nice rooms with air con. Suitable for all weathers. Clean comfy and roomy. Food in restaurant is exquisite and feels like a real fancy place. Staff very friendly and catering for all. Breakfast very good. Nice range of food. Fruit, cereals, hot food, continental available. Nice leisure centre with gym. Jacuzzi, great steam room and Sauna. Pool is prob 22m in length. Showers great with soap dispenser. Lots of mirrors if you need to check yourself out 😀😀😀

Beautiful view over the river and easily accessible from the train station - a 10 min. walk. Rooms have air conditioning - a big plus this August. Very clean. Easy check in and check out process. Nice bar area too!

  • 3/5 Andy H. 1 year ago on Google
As usual the hotel and facilities were perfect. However there is not enough care paid towards staff and food, as both were a let down when it came to food and bar service (complaining to each other instead of attending customers) and menu selection (same old story with options, not enough vegan/vegetarian choices). I'll admit the lack of expertise in staff were my biggest concern rather than food options, I would stay again but would dine in the city and avoid at all costs using the restaurant and bar

  • 4/5 Louise M. 1 year ago on Google
Great hotel, lovely rooms and perfect location but the staff where not having the best night, wrong menus in restaurant, could not find our booking after we already paid and left our bags so that was very confusing. Overall a good stay.

  • 2/5 Martha D. 11 months ago on Google
Had a drink at the bar. Bartender never cleaned the dirty glasses from our area. When our drinks were served, we had to ask that the dirty dishes & glasses be removed. Bartender removed them but never wiped the counter. Yuk! We moved to another space in the bar area; every spot was dirty. No one cleans the tables or wipes the tables. I would not come back. 😪

Superb hotel. Parking on site which was ideal. Clean and large hotel with plenty of facilities. The restaurant and bar area were lovely and comfortable both for dining and relaxing as well as for working on a laptop. The rooms were also clean and comfortable and quite. I’d stay here again for sure.

A beautiful stylish hotel with an exclusive VIP restaurant. Also the quality of food was excellent. A place where we could sit and chat in very comfortable chairs and sofa areas. We didn't feel rushed there, we really settled in and didn't want to leave.

Great location with a view of the river. The hotel is in short walking distance to many cafes, pubs, restaurants, the English Market etc. The room was spacious and the bed was so comfortable. The staff was super friendly. The check-in and check-out was a breeze. I will definitely stay at this hotel on my next visit to Cork City.
