A hostel would be better than this. Firstly you had to pay with card. Your for to make sure your booking was secure. Firstly when arriving we looked at hotel it looked closed. The whole hotel was dated. The staff members nice and so helpful. We arrived home late after all, it is a hotel the staff not best pleased. As it seems they just stayed up for us. The breakfast was disgusting absolutely and very lit of it I ended up buying a breakfast roll near by. It was the worse breakfast in my entire life. I was absolutely delighted to be leaving. As I got home I did not want to think about that place. A friend gave me a lend of credit card to secure booking, well when I went down there I paid the staff member said she cancelled the credit card booking so I could stay in this terrible hotel. My friend found a certain amount of money missing from his visa mine and another friend they took the money from the credit card and accepted. are cash so we be paying double the amount. Well the credit card got on to the hotel immediately and it took about a week to get my friends money back into his account so he was left without until the hotel staff decided to put it back in. No apology no compensation for putting us through this mess. More complaints about this hotel I could be typing here all night. I hope the Brennan Brothers arrive at this awful hotel. Not sure what month we went on. 1 waitress was beautiful dressed and hair all tied up she has beautiful personality I forget where in the world she was from.

I stayed here for a business trip a few months back. While the rooms were clean and staff were helpful. I just cannot fathom how this hotel could charge their customers 12 euro for a full continental breakfast (Only fruits and cereal, a slice of toast and tea). If you only want the slice of toast and tea, that will be 5 euro. Although the location is right in the middle of the city. I would prefer to find something better for services.

Judge for yourself from the photos. Really poor value for money. Never had an experience where the hotel required me to write in a ledger, my personal information (after providing this online when booking). Before being told how to get to my room I was informed that the room key would be taken off me and a card with my room number given to me for access back to the hotel. Very strange. With every step from the front door to the room, my experience got worse and worse. The room itself was like something from a seedy 70s tv show. The plugs last inspected 4 years ago was an interesting feature to have on display. Parking not being available in the hotel and instead having to pay for parking at a nearby car park was unbelievable. Any reputable place would cover the ticket cost in its entirety. All appliances and features in the room were outdated and unacceptable in 2023. Peeling wallpaper, out of place chairs and a toilet paper dispenser from a public rest room. I’ve not seen anything quite like this, and I doubt I will again. Needless to say I spent as little time as possible in the hotel. Staff were friendly, ideal location. A bit of investment in the rooms would go a very very long way to improving this experience.

To be honest I was told that there would be 24 hour reception meaning I could always be able to ring the buzzer by the door and someone would let me in but there was a big let down 22 august (4:30am)when I tried to get the attention of a worker by pressing the buzzer and then I kept pressing and pressing I even went away numerous time and came back in all the times I also rang them there was also no answer until a kind soldier from Collins barracks cork rang them (this was at 6am) when I finally got let in the worker tried to be sympathetic by giving me a can of Fanta and saying sorry over and over but also kept saying “this stays between us bud” at this point I wasn’t going to cause a fuss I just went upstairs had a shower and prepared to in all I got to use the room for roughly a grand total of about an hour and a half . Really dissatisfied and I can’t see myself going there or recommending to anyone ever

Three stars is being kind because you can't beat the location and the staff are friendly. The room had some issues and especially for the rate they charged. There was a metal piece sticking out of the bottom of the bed which a hit a couple times, the lamp did not work, and it barely had a window for fresh air. The room was hott and stuffy.

i could not find a fault with the place - it is a centrally located hotel with some limited parking spots (but be aware they don't reserve it for you with your reservation) it's close to all the shops. i really enjoyed the comfort of my bed in the room and the bathroom was spotless - it must have been recently renovated.

Good location & easy walk to & around city. Front rooms were however extremely noisy with the sound of restaurants, pubs bars etc... until about 12 or 1am, then beer barrels being dropped & rolled around, followed by the garbage truck at 4.30am! Was almost impossible to get any sleep... these disturbances were btw every night.... Sun-Wed, and probably worse on a weekend. Asked to be moved to a room at the back of the building but the bed was so uncomfortable.... very hard, that woke up feeling exhausted anyway.... all the staff were pleasant, building itself is old & rundown.... I probably won't return to this hotel.

We stayed here for 1 night It's not a hotel but a glorified b&b We went out for the night and went to bed At 7am we were woken up by a drip drip sound The ceiling was leaking water We tried ringing reception but phone was not working Went to reception and they came up Saw the leak and moved bed so it wasn't getting wet Then went and got a fresh duvet expecting us to get back into a wet bed We checked out shortly afterwards We werent offered a change of room No manager was available We rang everyday till for a week leaving messages for a manager We emailed too Manager eventually contacts us on Friday Made an offer of 20 euro because it was so close to check out time ;we paid 175euro for room only we refused but lodged offer into my account Emailed them again and still no reply This place is only interested in taking your cash and has completely no regard for its customers and has customer service at all Avoid at all costs

I would not give this hotel a 3 star rating. My room was clean but smelled of damp. It is very outdated. Chiped cups in the room. The bathroom was a disgrace. The lady at reception was lovely. My stay here wasn't pleasant 😒

We stayed here and couldn't get hot water or any water pressure in our shower. We told the front desk and they didn't do anything. 150 euro per night is too much to not be able to shower. Good location though.

This hotel was as basic as you can get it is in need of a desperate makeover it smell like its been freshly painted but not a great job carpets are very old the carpet in my bedroom it had a lot of stains on it it is the smallest bedroom I have ever stayed in it had a double bed in it but would would have been more suitable for a single bedroom I always thought a cold tap would have cold water cold and hot tap has hot water but the hot and cold tap both had hot water .the bedding was nice and clean and the bed was very comfortable the staff was very helpful gave you a good welcome and was very polite the reason I gave two stars is mainly because of the price there is no way this hotel room number 27 was worth €150 for one night there was no wardrobe to hang your clothes there was just 4 or 5 clothes hangers hanging on the wall I would have been happy to have paid 50 to 75 euros for the night ok I know it is in a fantastic location still I would not have paid €150 again there is no food facilities in the hotel and you can park your car at the back but it will only hold about 6 cars in a very tight spot this hotel is ok if you just want to put your head down for the night but I would not want to say there more than one night would I go back again I am sorry to say I would not I could not recommend this hotel for more than one night but at the end of the day it was warm it was comfortable and it was ok just for one night as I said there was no food facilities but I am not sure if I would have been comfortable eating food there anyway all in all the staff try their best and credit to them for that it's just not the kind of hotel I would stay in again so the owners need to get there hands in there pockets and spend some money on the plece. You could have a nice hotel there if you up grade it.

Really shabby. Has a dining room but it's closed..... so nowhere for dinner or breakfast. Has a bar but closes at 9pm...... walls paper thin and my room was tiny. Shocking price for such facilities. More like a hostel but hotel price. Was booked in again for tonight but couldn't face it. Found another hotel and I'm out of there. !

Our main complaint with this hotel is the misleading, borderline dishonest nature of their parking policy. Their website specifies they have free parking in a lot that closes at 9pm, and if we cannot be accommodated in that lot, we will have to use a parking garage. On our first night, we arrived late, and the clerk kindly explained that the lot was full and we needed to arrive before 9pm to park in the lot. On our second night, we were extremely careful to diligently arrive before 9pm, as had been communicated to us. However, we were still unable to park in the free lot and told it was not guaranteed regardless of time, which was a surprise to us as we had extensively discussed parking the night before and that was never communicated or even implied. In fact, a main reason we had chosen this hotel was that it included parking, both for convenience and because walking through empty streets and parking garages alone at night in an unfamiliar city can be unsafe. The clerk working the second night was sympathetic and understood the need for the parking policy on the website to be updated; however the clerk’s leader was abrasive and unhelpful, appeared to have no problem being misleading, and rudely suggested I wanted her to somehow increase the size of their parking lot. Realistically, I was only asking for the 12-euro parking charge to be covered, which would have met the standard of free parking although we would still be compromising our safety concerns. We were directed to talk to a higher-level person the next day—we were not told this person’s name, but guaranteed they would be working the next day. The next day, this higher-level person was nowhere to be found, and although the clerk said we could wait for her, at this point we determined we had wasted enough of our vacation on this issue, and we left. If not for this issue, which caused unnecessary distress to our stay, I would not have had a problem with this hotel. The layout has a sort of maze thing going on, which can be fun. The rooms aren’t large or fancy, but they have what you need. The lower-level staff seem to be nice people. Cleaning staff was very nice and friendly. They were understanding when I told them I was waiting for my friends to come back. Upper-level staff I don't know; perhaps the leader I spoke to was just a fluke—I can’t say.

You pay for what you get! It was a last minute booking for a football preseason friendly. It was the hottest temperatures Cork had seen in 24 years it was into the 30's. Hotel is very outdated and establishment in need of a uplift! The bar was ok but not big enough to swing a cat but priced OK. The staff were very friendly and food was great. However the window in my room didn't open an inch on the top floor and it was like sleeping in a sauna, my fave ended up sticking to the plastic coated pillow. The shower was like being urinated on by a dog and I'm sure during the winter a hot shower wouldn't be a bad thing but my shower was on as cold as it would go after my weight loss session through the night.

My stay was unacceptable. After I checked in I had to leave my room key with the front desk when I left again. I thought this was very odd, since all my things were in the room, but I handed over the key and went out for a bite. While I was out, someone was in my room and rifling through my things. I had left some vitamins and Advil on a shelf and the contents of the bottles was mixed up. I didn’t notice until the next day when I opened the containers. This hotel felt more like a rooming house. The room smelled musty and was dingy and outdated. The toilet seat would not stay up, so that was awkward! The water was lukewarm in the shower and only ran hot in the sink (both faucets!) I could hear the guest in the next room snoring loudly all night. And the bed and pillows were not that comfortable.

Faulty Towers meets Cecil hotel. Dated decor and poorly carpeted stairs. Staff try to be helpful but are let down by the hotel's outdated paperwork process and security checks. In order to get to your room after a evening out you will be checked against the guestlist by the nightwatchman who had an inappropriate sense of humour. No additional guests are allowed in your room. The security checks are more unsettling than anything else, I can't help but think about what's happened in the past to warrant these checks. The carpet throughout the hotel is old, stained and poorly repaired. The bed sheets and duvet were bright white and spotless yet someone made the decision to cover them with an old, stained and damaged throw. The shower was good but the bathroom poorly ventilated. The toilet paper is in a dispenser and must trap condensation after a shower because the toilet paper is damp. Noise all through the night from the many fire doors in the corridor slamming shut. Would not stay again.

Very dated and cosy, quiet, but clean and comfortable and very centrally located and with limited parking. Would go again, but it's perhaps not for everyone.

Hotel has not been updated or decorated since the 1970's, overpriced for what you get. Will never stay here again. Staff were friendly.

Faulty towers would best describe this hotel. Very dated to say the least, a strong musty old smell throughout the corridors.. randomly left a mandarin orange in our room. At first the night porter appeared lovely turned out he was extremely arrogant and ignorant

Used for luggage storage and staff were helpful and really friendly - would recommend!! We didn’t stay at the hotel but it’s perfect location wise if you want to be in cork city

Great location, professional friendly staff. While it may not be your typical hotel with matching duvets and curtains and up to date decor. Its simply more guerky and has a lot of character . I must say though the bathroom In our room was obviously recently renovated and quite high spec .

Very old hotel. Rooms are old fashioned, you hear everything from the others rooms. Service is not good. You can’t leave your luggages when you check out. The only point who is positive, it’s the emplacement at the centre of Cork.

Overall the experience was decent. We stayed in a twin bed room with two twin beds. The beds we not the most comfortable but manageable. The pillows however were awful, so flat and extremely unsupportive. The staff was great in letting me borrow one of their fans for white noise and to keep the room cool. I think it was not worth the price by a long shot. The location was good but there is simply nothing to do in Cork other then the Blarney Castle. If you are coming from Dublin take the train, catch the bus and then take the train home late in the day its not worth staying overnight. I would probably not stay here again.

Wow. Where to begin? I was unfortunately booked in by my company, but after only 2 hours. I left and paid for a hotel out of my own pocket. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! Even a mud hut in Africa is cleaner and more cosy, and I have slept in one before.

  • 1/5 mary b. 1 year ago on Google
The location was great and staff appeared to be nice but the hotel itself is very outdated, our room was tiny and the bed was soooooo uncomfortable. The mattress felt lumpy and we both have sore backs from our sleep here. The bed headboard was stained with some kind of brown liquid. The "double" bed would have been more suited to one person rather than a couple. It would have been nice to have extra pillows in the bedroom. The hotel smells like a hospital and the doors are extremely heavy and awkward to open when carrying bags. The hotel reminded me of a half way house. The hotel would do if you were badly stuck.

Can't say much about the rooms as I didn't stay. I am loving the reviews though, and the responses! Our friends stayed here and they said it smelled a little. But not as bad as the reviews as I heard... Plus mattresses weren't bad. We got sent away because we weren't staying, fair enough. Ended up being the poor lads in front of the door drinking our Heinekens there, that was probably not the result they were hoping for. It's actually nicely located and staff are nice, I heard that my friend was asked to partake in a little drink at night at the lobby, at the same time they do care for a good welcoming and don't let anybody in (I can know!) that doesn't stay there. My friends were happy about the price quality, as it is the cheapest place around

Avoid.Avoid.Avoid Ita bad, like baaaaaad, read the reviews its not worth saving a few euro think about this, for 150€ for two people you could get a 5 star hotel in zagreb, or, a room going through a pathetic mid life crisis. We made a mistake please learn from us and go somewhere else😅 Room was cramped not even enough space to fit the bed ,uneven floors, carpet ripped, totally overpiced for the quality of the room. bathroom is falling apart, got stabbed in the foot by a loose nail, shower was about as warm as sad baby food, and dribbled water about the same as the baby would. Tiles cracked. Theres even a gap underneath the door big enough to fit my hand and wave hi to my partner if i need toilet roll.

Need updating. The upkeep of the hotel is a bit out of date and some of our rooms had poor patch up jobs. Staff friendly.

This place will do in a pinch. It's clean and has what you will need for the night. A "garden view" is quiet. It does have some parking which was a plus. The front desk staff were friendly and efficient.

Great location. Reception manager rude on arrival. Rule number one of customer service - the customer is always right!! A very cool reception, cead mile failte it was not!! The staff do their best but seem to be under pressure & understaffed! The rooms were small but adequate. They were clean and beds comfy. I didn't expect modern in the Victorian Quarter. The car park is a joke!! Tiny, dirty, untidy. Skip full of rubbish occupying almost two spaces. Fire exits not really clear! - more like a back yard that you'd rather nobody saw!! I took a photo but don't see her where to upload. I wouldn't go back, the main reason being the receptionist's attitude. For the price on a concert night, I got what I expected in terms of room etc.
