We were excited to eat here for the first time the Friday of Jazz weekend. We had heard a lot about the T-bone steak so that was our first choice. Positives: ⁃ Nice venue ⁃ Attentive and friendly staff ⁃ Good food & dessert Negatives: ⁃ Chipped glass, blunt steak knife. General low standard cutlery. ⁃ Water for the table is given in a bottle at €4.90. ⁃ Ordered the T-bone steak to be told they were out. This was an early reservation. The couple right next to us then proceeded to order the same steak after coming in after us and they had a T-bone for them (“apparently” an extra that wasn’t served). Seeing someone else getting what we had wanted to order right next to our table was very uncomfortable as nothing was explained until we had to mention it to the manager who had taken our initial order and who had taken our neighbours orders when they had also come in. By this time we had little appetite for our food. ⁃ After meal was finished, received the receipt for the meal of the table next to us with the aforementioned T-bone steak on it (that we did NOT receive). Took a few tries until we received the correct receipt. ⁃ Manager felt guilty about the experience we had with the steak so took the price of a single glass of wine (€8) off our total. We were disappointed because for a place that has some decent potential, it didn’t quite hit the mark for us. Won’t be returning any time soon.

Jacobs on the mall is a beautiful restaurant, it is probably the most luxurious place to eat in Cork city. They have great vegan and vegetarian options. Brilliant drinks list and there cocktails are beautiful. The staff are lovely and very helpful.

Has potential but... Let's start from the beginning. This is one of the fancy Restaurants in town and more expensive as well compared to the average The location is beautiful and recently renovated by an interior design. Everyone inside is very elegant, they offer you a different choice of bread and some butter to eat while waiting for the food. The staff took a bit before taking our orders but we didn't wait too much for the food even if the place was full. Downsides: 1 The table we were seated had 1 armchair on one side an a big bench on the other. The armchair was a bit too low and not comfortable to eat 2 I found a black hair on my plate 3 the food is ok but not the best. From the vegan menu the "chilli" with beans is nothing super, u can find similar flavours at any Indian restaurant and pay half of the price. The salmon with gnocchi is nice but why to put in the same dish gnocchi with pesto and salmon with cream? The flavours are not merging together nicely. 3 stars overall.

5 stars don’t make justice to this restaurant, the atmosphere you feel when you walk in and the size of the room is incomparable. Neil and all his staff made our experience amazing, the food, the efficiency the kindness, the professionalism, they look like a big warm family inviting you to enjoy a fancy dinner in a luxury restaurant. We were delighted with our three courses and with the service, we are sure won’t be our last visit. Thank you guys!

One of the best place to eat in the city. Food is super, but it must be because of the price of their plates: higher than the average in Cork. The location isn't good as the food, they lack the cure of details (they used a napkin to make the table stable...), no tablecloth. Then, the pictures on the walls seems to put there without a real criteria. Service: it's okay, nothing to report.

Fantastic Irish restaurant serving exceptional food with local ingredients. Really like their take on traditional dishes adding subtle twists. Nice variety of meat, fish, poultry and vegan options. Really enjoyed the chicken with sausage stuffing and the bacon. The service was second to none and there’s a great atmosphere there. I doubt you’ll be disappointed.

Got the vegan menu: the amount of food you get is definitely worth it for price. :”(( sadly tho, the oyster mushroom starter was pretty cold when we got it. And the falafel burger was a bit too dry& dense. The bun was absolutely 🔥 tho Everything else was really good :)

Our party of three experienced incredible service and personal attention for our celebration dinner. From the moment we arrived it felt as though we were in our own private dining experience and were hardly aware of the other tables as the dining room is so spacious. It's been about 24 years since I last ate at Jacob's and it is even better which I had not thought possible. The main menu is varied and offers a good choice. Their vegan menu is also very good. I had emailed ahead about dietary requirements, for advice on best options. When we arrived, they had prepared a separate list of options that were suitable and could be tailored for me. I even got to eat dessert! Our waitress was very attentive and ensured that everything was as it needed to be which was really appreciated. There's a great wine and cocktail menu including a nice selection of alcohol-free cocktails. The prices are really rather reasonable. It is definitely a place that I need to visit again much sooner than in 24 years' time!

Booked a table for tow for our special occasion dinner. I was very pleased with the service and the ambience with the old roof and how they have modernised it without changing the old architecture charm. Most importantly, the food was awesome and I would highly recommend it.

Great atmosphere and food, staff were very friendly and attentive. Really loved our experience here. Jacobs offer a full vegan menu with a great variety of dishes to choose from. Excellent spot if your going for a date with your significant other and aiming to impress 😉.

Really beautifull place. Amazing atmosphere. Very good service. But i cant say the same for the food. I got a fillet steak and my wife got salmon. My food was fine, but the salmon it was tastless, really a bummer to serve frozen fish in a place like this.

It was a family birthday evening and we reserved for six people. On arrival we waited for several minutes to be seated and we were given the " cosy booth".. I'd rename it " tiny and trapped " as it's awkward if the inner guest needs to get out. The server brought us menus including some vegan options. My son ordered a bottled beer which was out of stock and my daughter ordered a " Margurita cocktail which arrived after she'd received her main meal. Her boyfriend ordered a whiskey cocktail but he believed it lacked whiskey altogether. We ordered an Italian red wine which was familiar to us. The starters were served in dribs and drabs with at least 10 mins from the first one to before my mom was finally given her starter of " Mexican prawn cocktail " and sadly all starters were small portions and lacked flavor. The mains were served in the same way ,in dribs and drabs, and again lackluster, and flavor. Very average and very expensive meal. I think if the prices were cut by about 30%, our expectations of quality and flavor would be met. The desserts were little in the way of excitement and lacked flavor. The pistachio nuts served on most desserts were rich green and completely unripened. My tart base was hard /stale.This place needs to lower its prices or increase the quality of its ingredients and recipes. It was meant to be a wonderful time but it was disappointing to be honest. The last time I had eaten there I was delighted with my meal. Perhaps it's a different chef !!

A very disappointing evening in a restaurant that knows how to charge. We were a party of 7 put at a table for 6. We must have waited 20 minutes before a drink order was taken. Then waited at least 20 more for the drinks to arrive. There was at least an hour between starter and main course. We sat down at 20.30 and were still eating at 23.00, not from choice. Food was underwhelming and overpriced. My tempura starter was poisoned with salt and the swordfish dish was at best...meh. When the bill finally arrived, there were three coffees, one whiskey, two desserts and a main course on it that we hadn't ordered or eaten. While the waitress did say sorry, none of the management approached us to apologise for the approximately 80 euro attempted overcharge. Also the toilets were a little grubby and tired looking. Won't be going back here.

What an outstanding restaurant. Personal attention. Unbelievable genuine friendly staff. What can I saw about Michelle, she is authentic and makes one feel at home as if it were a family gathering. The food is top class. Everyone from the entrance to exiting were so professional. The decor and atmosphere was regal. It is not my first time here and I cannot wait to dine here again. I introduced my sons and daughter to the restaurant when home last year and am delighted to say they are returning since. 100% points from our family.

We had a really good meal here. From the minute we arrived we were made feel so welcome by the incredibly friendly team. Quality of the food was superb and beautifully presented with a very reasonable wine list with some gems 🍷 including a Chateaunuef du Pape and a delicious 2015 Amarone that we opted for. The setting was beautiful also. We will definitely return on our next trip to Cork.

We had an excellent time dining at Jacobs. The service is very good, staff are friendly and attentive. The food is amazing. We shared the tiger prawns and beef croquettes to start and they were so good - particularly the croquettes. For main I had the duck while my husband went for the beef. Both dishes were really good and great portion sizes. I would definitely recommend a lovely meal as part of your itinerary when visiting Cork.

The best place for food in Cork city. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. A great variety on the menu to cater for all our parties dietary requirements. The wine and service was top notch. We cannot wait to return. 5 🌟

During the 11 yrs we have been living in Cork, Jacob's on the Mall has been our first choice when celebrating a special day, or simply if we feel like enjoying a nice dinner. This place is like no other, the sense of space it has makes you feel you are not surrounded with the crowd, even if the restaurant is full. Food - delicious! Service - all very well trained and kind I must say. Furniture - super comfy chairs and tables Price - reasonable! Taking into account that food is SO good! What else to say? Go and try it! If you like good food... go and indulge yourself!

Went in earlyish, around 6. They had a fab 3 courses for 37 euros on but we just didn't feel we could do that justice. Most of us opted for a main dish off the a la carte menu. We were told to expect a 30 minute delay as we weren't having starters but that didn't bother us. The place filled up nicely so there was a lovely buzz and it is a gorgeous space in which to dine. The food was excellent, clean plates all round. One or two went for desserts and tea/coffee. The bill was 200 for 6 of us which included some minerals and a glass of wine. I'll definitely go back for that 3 courses another evening and maybe try one of the speciality cocktails 🍸. Parking is available but not always easy to find. We parked on Fr Matthew Quay, behind the restaurant. At 6 I suppose some spaces were becoming available. Worth a visit.

Excellent meal! The service, the food, the atmosphere were all great. I had the steak and my husband had the fish special of the night. Everything was delicious. Not really a place for kids, but we came with our three small ones and they were very accommodating. The food for the kids was great too. Large portion sizes. We will definitely be back!

Went for dinner last night with a friend and it absolutely superb. Between the attentive and very friendly staff, the food & wine it exceeded my expectations for my first visit. Prices are satisfactory for food & wine quality. So tasty and perfect portions. Thank you to the lovely staff. We had a great night. Will definatly be back.

Had a very tasty 3 course meal here in December. Some fried blue cheese with mustard to start, a lovely stuffed chicken breast for main and a delicious tropical Eton mess to finish. The food was excellent, the service was quick and friendly, they have some nice craft beers on the menu and some very nice wines. The restaurant is situated in an old bath house, it has very high ceilings and a huge amount of plants which makes for a very pleasant atmosphere.

A pleasant surprise - set menu way to go! We had been recommended this place from another restaurant that was too busy and we were very pleased. Nice atmosphere, very fresh food with great presentation and lovely staff. The cod was superb. The set menu best value by far and offers good choice. We will be back

Nice food but have had better elsewhere. Be warned, if you do insist on going here the prices for extras like water and sides are extortionate. Private room at the back for groups has a strange musty smell and is crying out for a revamp. Mandatory service charge also didn't reflect the standard of service received. Wouldn't bother with this place again.

The building is historic and beautiful. The serving staff works very hard and does a great job. We were a 50th birthday party of 15 people, 20 to 85 years old. We ordered from the 'fixed' menu. Literally every starter or main course was hot and spicy. Wasabi was the main ingredient coated in pepper. Even those in the group who like spicy food were fanning their tongues. Grandma at 85 was the person inviting, none of us wanted to spoil her evening, but I am terribly disappointed with Jacobs on the Mall. Just like salt, spice can be added to a dish, but cannot be removed. Desserts were a reprieve, the Eaton smash lacked meringue and were mainly cream (to offset the spice?) This was my first visit and I'm not in a hurry to return
