Meal was average, expensive for what it was..lovely old style bar let down by male bar staff(manager?/owner?) who was foul-mouthed on several occasions while speaking with other staff members .also he seem to have a persistent cough/sneezing while working behind bar which is not good around food as no masks or screens present..not a nice ambience while trying to enjoy a meal.. Had the soup of the day as a starter..too much salt in it.. Sirloin Steak for main.. No desserts on menu.. No teas or coffees on menu. Costs just over €60.00 ..

Looks great but...Mediocre at best from my experience. First, we made a reservation and requested a highchair for our 7month old so we could feed him while we ate but when we arrived we didn't get what we needed. We were given a toddler chair to sit him at the table instead of in an independent setup as they gave it to someone else even though we asked for it to be reserved. Grand, nothing we can do as we're there and hungry. Second, the food situation. There was too much focus on the presentation of the food so much that I honestly think they forgot that it was meant to have flavour. It looked great but it's bland where it should be flavourful, it was burned where it should have been golden brown, it was dry where it should have been juicy...on my oldest son's words "It used to be great when I was a kid but now not so much". He really hit the nail on the head with that statement. Third, the majority of the waiting staff were very lackadaisical. Cutlery was forgotten, some of our orders weren't taken or delivered correctly, orders for coffee at the end were forgotten completely. The host/manager is the reason there isn't 1 star as he really saved the day with getting everything sorted when we asked for his help. So well done to him.

The food was lovely and the staff very pleasant and friendly. Why 3 instead of 5 stars? Just some issues with timings and staff attention unfortunately. Still enjoyed the food and pints!

Well Food was only lukewarm and asked for soft runny Poached eggs and got two eggs which might have been boiled as so hard,Tea was only warm.Asked for another tea when food was left at table and had to ask bar staff as staff forgot about us and not 1 member of staff around to see if we were ok or to see where our tea is.Standards have gone totally down so wouldn't recommend it for breakfast to anyone.

Staff are really lovely however the food is average especially when you compare it with the prices as of late. I don't remember Silver Key ever being so costly, won't be returning any time soon.

Arrived after 2pm on concert day to be greeted by a scroll from a very unfriendly barman passing derogatory comment s on customer s really needs a brush up on customer relations! We were served by a lovely girl afterwards who saved the day Takes nothing to be nice to people

Big bar with plenty of places to sit for big or small parties. Lots of nooks and crannies. Food was OK but very overpriced. €11.95 for small breakfast is just ludicrous. The food itself was a big portion but nothing special. Service was strange with my server calling me "boy" (might be a Cork thing) and second waitress wearing a full length coat tied up. It was cold in there. Cleaner was also working while people were eating and was actually moping floors while customers were walking around which seemed a health hazzard. Hard to give it a higher rating as owners reputation (bad) is also hard to ignore.

Last week I reserved a table for seven for Breakfast this morning. On our arrival we were warmly welcomed by Neil the maître d' who showed us to our table. We were in awe at the variety of dishes on the menu. Our waitress arrived to take our orders and introduce herself as Lil. She was so professional and extremely friendly. It was our first time in the restaurant. On leaving we all agreed we would return. The food was delicious and plentiful . Would highly recommend it.

Reserved a table here for 6 family members (4Adults & 2Kids) The food was delicious and I wouldn't fault it especially the Steak Sandwich. However my experiences with Staff and service means I wouldn't return here again which is a pity. We were sat in Table 14 which is a little booth off to the side and it basically was the case the staff forgot we were there or more like Choose to forget we were there. I had to remind them to do something on three different occasions 1) To bring our drinks 2)A salad and chips were not given with a main 3) The children's Ice cream that was meant to come with the kid meals On multiple occasions I made eye contact and tried to get staffs attention but they had no interest. Plenty talking and chit chat going on. The best part was the eye roll when I reminded the blonde Girl about our drinks. More interested in the Irish rugby match I suspect. At this point I went to the bar to speak to the person in the White shirt assuming they were the manager and I suspect he detected I was unhappy as staff came to the table every five mins after this point. The food is priced a bit on the high side compared to other places in the area but It is tasty so I don't mind that as much, just the service totally ruined the experience for me. Next time I will go to Kirby's or the elm tree with family members as we feel the service there is better.

Fine pub serving good food, good size portions for a reasonable price these days. Was served last orders but then rushed out the door before I could finish. Had enjoyed food there earlier but will be reluctant to go back because of one barman. Pity that one person can colour your opinion of a place.

The food is absolutely gorgeous, from steaks to seafood! The setting is lovely and caters for all ages, the restaurant itself is always kept to an extremely high standard! Such care and consideration to every little detail! The staff are all so friendly and accommodating, in particular JP who is consistently checking that everyone is looked after and everything is running smoothly.

Used to love coming here but very disappointed in the service. I am coeliac and asked about gluten free options as the menu didn't have allergen list. Was told the roast can be done gluten free so ordered that. Roast came out with a big Yorkshire pudding in the middle and stuffing. Asked waiter who confirmed was all gluten free. Then another waitress came by and I asked her and she said its not gluten free. So after speaking to 4 different staff members I was still given food containing gluten. Not good enough and I wouldn't be in a hurry to return. Places like this make eating out such a hassle for coeliacs.

A beautiful meal but for me a tad cold- service was quite slow so guess that's why meal should've been hotter! It was Christmas night out - maybe not enough staff to facilitate the group- know there were 2 other groups of about 5 maybe!

We had a meal there recently and the food was delicious especially cheesecake with Bailey's and maltessers. Reasonably priced and good staff. My first time there but wont be my last

Nice cosy pub with friendly staff. Unfortunately the food is terribly overpriced. I got the vegetable curry which tasted like powdered sauce and cost more than €25.

Had lunch with my wife and kids last Sunday paid my bill of 115 euro for food and another for around 100 for drink .barman noticed me talking to a friend of my sister in law before I left ..the barman told him that I l ran out without paying my bill ,he then in turn rang my sister in law .my bill was paid in full and I have the receipt, when I rang to complain got no apology and they over charged me for a soup I never had ..when I phoned the second time a nice lad in fairness called Edward was a lot nicer ..I was accused of stealing yet they over charged me ..it left a sour taste to be honest ..

Family lunch yesterday, everyone loved the food they ordered but it was a bit disappointing in that you couldn't catch the eye of the serving staff, the kids never got the desserts or drinks which were part of the menu, and we had to ask for the bill with all the punters at the bar. I'll continue to eat here but I do feel the staff need training to kerp an eye to the tables and look after people. 5 stars for the food 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

On Sunday 30th of October we reserved a Table for a meal for 4pm for 4 adults and a 2 year old. The moment we arrived we were met by friendly and helpful staff. We had a great meal with drinks .I normally would never order Sirloin Steak because I find it’s always overpriced but on this occasion it was not. I had the Sirloin Steak and my guests had Fillet Steak and Duck. Everything was cooked to perfection. The Vegetables etc were appropriate and properly cooked. It the first time I have had French fried onions that were prepared and cooked in the kitchen . They are normally purchased frozen and deep fat fried. The quality and presentation of the desserts needs special mention, even though I am not a desert person but two of my Guests did order guests did order dessert and their expectations were exceeded. I had a few pints of Guinness as did one of my guests and they were excellent . It’s was the best atmosphere, service, food, and staff that I have ever experienced in Cork . The booking was in the name of ODowd. Liam L.

Saturday morning, before 12 noon cut off. Ability to park outside and choose outdoor sheltered seating appreciated. It's a busy gastro pub, friendly staff and a solid brunch menu. Recommended.

Visited for Cork and Limerick match Recently, they were way too short staffed and people were waiting over 30 mins for a drink at the bar, there was one maybe 2 people serving drinks when the rest of the staff were serving food? despite most people being at a match were just looking for drinks, otherwise it was a nice looking pub and the food looked good from what I saw

Had to ask 3 times for a high chair for my 2 year old daughter even though I had requested it at the time of booking . I then went to the bar to find a staff member on the search for a high chair again but the bar man turned his back and ignored me for a least 5 minutes . Eventually I was approached by a staff member who sorted a high chair after twenty minutes. Service was poor staff had very poor English and couldn't understand us when we were ordering. Staff kept asking to clear the table while we were very much still eating. The bar was very quiet at the time so they had no excuse to rush us . We were inside our two hour timeframe. I was disappointed to have a poor experience as the bar is beautifully decorated, with a relaxing atmosphere but could greatly improve its customer service.

Food was exceptional. Very tasty. The burger was large with some excellent accompaniments. I highly recommend. Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. The only reason it is not 5 stars is service was slow to get drinks and we had to ask.
