This restaurant is a beautiful place to eat in the heart of Cork city, either if you just want to enjoy a weekend brunch or have a nice dinner out. Their menu is extremely varied and caters for most people. And every week they have a lunch special that usually brings the taste from Asia, Thailand, China, etc to Ireland. They have a great brunch menu with lovely homemade pancakes, omelettes, and avocado toast among other delicious choices. They have also the option to order homemade granola and porridge for take away so you can enjoy a healthy and tasteful breakfast while in the office or on your way to work. We are regular customers as we love the coffee and brunch there, but this time we wanted to try the new evening tapas menu. We were very impressed with the selection as there were plenty options to choose from Mexican tortilla chips with Vegan dips option to garlic prawns or jackfruit burgers. For two people I would recommend to ask for 4 to 5 tapas, and that will be plenty food. You will definitely feel full. As for the desserts the photos speak for themselves, amazing. They were so lovely we didn't know if to eat them or contemplate them. The Head chef Eli has magical hands. The price is a little higher than👍💯👍💯💯👍🤭🤭👍💯👍8

The price is a little higher than the previous evening menu they had, but it is worthy if you want to try something different and food was beautiful. If you want to get an idea of the food they serve, have a look at its Instagram account @thebookshelfcoffee as they are ver active there, and everything you will see it is honestly what you will find in the restaurant. The staff is so friendly you will feel like home, and they welcome you with a smile. Always. The atmosphere is cozy and warm, perfect for a date or to enjoy a casual dinner with friends.

I highly recommend this restaurant. It is very value for money. I am very grateful with Marc, the waiter who attended me, since he was very kind and thoughtful to provide the best quality on my lunch time. Also the food is delicious, I really enjoyed trying the different flavour and textures. I have been there once and I can not wait to come back and try every different option. Virginia

Bookshelf Coffee is a cozy and charming café located in the heart of Cork City, Ireland. The café is a popular spot among locals and tourists alike, offering delicious coffee, tea, pastries, and light bites. I highly recommend stopping by Bookshelf Coffee during your visit to Cork. The café's warm and inviting atmosphere, complete with bookshelves lining the walls, makes it the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a good book or catch up with friends, also relax during the city walking. In addition to its cozy atmosphere, Bookshelf Coffee also offers high-quality coffee made with locally sourced beans, as well as a selection of delicious pastries and light bites. Whether you're looking for a quick caffeine fix or a leisurely brunch, you're sure to find something to your liking on the menu. Super legit third wave coffee shop. Excellent latte, delicious pastries, and kind and friendly crew. No books, unfortunately. ;-) Roksana was especially helpful, and barista dude—my man, Callum—was good fun. We shall return. Thanks, guys.

One of my local favourites. The staff is pleasant and nice! All of them are into their coffees and when asking for recommendations they are extremely helpful and have great knowledge. You need help with your brewing? Ask the staff for some tips and tricks :)

I sincerely value the Bookshelf. The Bookshelf in of itself is a bit of a rebel. They buy German roasted beans from the Barn. Their espresso machine "The Black Eagle," makes a consistent cup of coffee throughout the day. The staff do their best to insure that you have a memorable experience. Each time that I visit I am greeted with the same warm smiles and welcoming. They know that I have an espresso and that I am willing and eager to learn about coffee. Their brunches are amazing. The new renovations have really brightened up the place.

Ordered the eggs benedict. It was pretty good but realised something after I paid the bill… the hollandaise sauce was missing! (Pls refer to the photo) Some fault on my part for not flagging it. But it’s amazing how it can be missed by the kitchen and serving staff… sigh

One day I went to buy a carrot cake and cafe, and both were good! But the service is not good enough, because even when I said “my order is for dine in” The waiter gave me the carrot cake to carry until my table and then she brought me my caffe. Just I am going to say that everyone in world deserve a good service!!!

Been a while since the last time I was here 9y ago. To my delight, this coffee shop is still serving great specialty coffee: The Barn is what they had today!

Scones were super moist and come with butter and fresh raspberry jam. Raspberry or dried fruit scone options. Oat milk flat white was also great. Would come again! There’s a toilet for customer use too

I've eaten here a few times over the years as a treat and usually got the coconut porridge. I used to really enjoy it, but lately the quality of the ingredients has gone down a lot, and the last time I got it it was very watery, to the point that I basically just ate the fruit and a small bit of the oats. I usually don't bother complaining about this stuff but since I used to enjoy this place so much I decided to bring it to their attention, and they let me know that that's just how it turned out that day and they weren't sure why, so I guess that was my answer. I hadn't realised that it was so costly to make porridge, and that the €6.50 retail on it wouldn't cover making a fresh batch, but howsever. I'm only writing this review though because I was so disappointed after getting the €11 Belgian Waffle (not sure why they advertise it as Waffles), and the waffle itself clearly wasn't fresh. Giving them the benefit of the doubt it could have been made on a different day, but I'd be much more inclined to assume that it just came packaged from a shop. The service here has never been a strong point, but the food and atmosphere was good enough to bring me back. That's on me for giving it more chances though, I won't be coming back again if I can avoid it.

I was recently able to visit this specialty coffee shop whilst on holiday. I walked a bit to get here. Unfortunately one of their grinders was broken so I couldn't get a V60 brew, but I had a flat white. A friend had a cappuccino and another friend had a cold brew coffee from The Barn (Kombucha I think it's called). We all enjoyed our coffee to take away. It was a small but well appointed cafe, with a very cool mezzanine level. They have lots of excellent coffee from The Barn (Berlin) on sale as well as a good selection of gear that one may require for home brewing. Highly recommended and I will be revisiting!

A wonderful place for breakfast and coffee. We were in Cork for 4 days and we came here everyday. The coffee is one of the best that I have had in a long time. Their homemade porridge is also delicious. You can buy coffee beans there, they also sell and make their own peanut butter, coffee soap and travel mugs. Almost a 5 star if it was not for the french toast. It cost 13 euro and you get one slice. This would not deter me from revisiting however I would not order the toast again.

I had a coffee & a scone... The coffee was awful...weak & tepid. The scone was lovely, warm & and fresh, but the butter was rock hard. No complaints with service, it was fast & the staff were friendly. Sort the coffee guys it's awful ☕️ 😖

Cash is not accepted, only credit cards, I believe this is unacceptable. The coffee was good, however decafinated coffee was not available.

Good spot, good atmosphere and a good independent coffee shop to support. One downfall - call it odd, but no decaf coffee available fo us the recently decaffeinated people.

First time at this location. While I did expect a bigger menu, the food was good, and so was the coffee. However....... all the dishes and cutlery were dirty. They had food stains and had not been properly cleaned.

I ordered a motcha latte, a unique coffee I haven't seen anywhere else yet. Really dig the décor of this place and the music choice. The old jazzy hits really set the atmosphere.

The bookshelf Coffee House which is situated right off Olivier Plunkett Street is a very nice cozy and warm coffee shop. They do great coffee cakes and also sandwiches. This is place is perfect for on the go want to have a quick lunch but quality food while on work lunch break or even just want a quick lunch this is a nice place to go. It is also very useful to have business meetings before work or even have management meetings where you want to have informal discussions on business. The staff are always so helpful and very nice here. I would recommend this place to everyone.
