Can't believe human People have charged 250 pounds over people who had to rush to hospital. I understand policy is policy. But it doesn't make it good or a fair one neither!

We recently moved to Kinsale and were excited to try Bastion. My wife and I travel a lot and love fine dining. The food at Bastion rivals or exceeds the 3 star Michelin restaurants we have been do. From the moment we walked in with a personal greeting down to the moment we left with a warm farewell the food and experience was top notch. We opted for the chef selected wine pairing with the tasting menu (which I understand changes frequently). Every dish we had paired perfectly with the wine and we were able to taste the subtle flavors in all of the dishes. Bastion is the best fine dining restaurant in Kinsale and I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a special date night or a great night out with friends and family. It's absolutely worth every euro and the whole experience is very refined. We will be back with family and friends.

I was so excited to visit Bastion on a trip to Kinsale 2 weeks ago and I was not disappointed! Let me just say the waiters and chefs are amazing! So friendly and informative, really, they make the place! The menu was an 8 course tasting and we got the wine pairing as well. The addition of the wine pairing definitely adds a lot to the bill but if you were to order the same amount of drinks it wouldn't be cheaper! The food was immaculately presented, so creative and minimal. From amuse buche to petits fours, we thoroughly enjoyed every plate, the use of flavours and the respect towards the fab ingredients is really evident in each course! My fav was the dessert of course, white choc mousse and passion fruit. Divine. Go here.

Impeccable service & food! Probably the best food yet I’ve eaten this year - highlighting Irish ingredients (with the staff helping explain more info on the ingredients if you’re curious). If one is in the Cork County area, this is a place worth going out of your way to visit. On top, the service was impeccable. Servers were so accommodating, knowledgeable, and friendly - conversing with you like a friend visiting from out of town! Cannot emphasize this enough, but Bastion truly is a gem worth visiting!

Incredible. Our fourth time at this amazing restaurant and still love it as much. We had the tasting menu tonight. Superb. Not too much and great timing between courses. Helen and her team are still at the top of their game. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

We had a great experience here and the restaurant is well deserved of its 1 star Michelin. The service was very professional, helpful and friendly. The setting is clean, comfortable and fairly formal. The food was a lovely combination of Irish foods from the sea and land and cooked and prepared delicately.

Where better to push the boat out than Kinsale. We enjoyed an amazing tasting menu experience in Bastion in January. Sometimes a tasting menu can be challenging. This was not. Instead we experienced a succession of tasty extremely well executed dishes. The Cod with Champagne cream sauce and Duck dishes were standouts. The prawn ceviche with buttermilk and apple pearls was one of the most amazing things I've eaten in my life.

What an incredible experience we had on Saturday night! Everything about it was just perfect. The food was absolutely exceptional! We ended up going for the wine pairing, which I would highly recommend. It really takes everything to the next level. The attention to detail was unbelievable and the staff were incredibly kind, welcoming and attentive. I would highly recommend if you're looking for something to remember 🙂

An absolutely wonderful restaurant. I went to Bastion for dinner this past Saturday evening and cannot praise it highly enough. The space is intimate and comfortable, appropriately elegant for a Michelin-starred restaurant without feeling overly formal. We shared the space with 5 other tables who all sat at 7pm, and we were all served the tasting menu at the same time, making for a nice communal experience. Each dish was artful, full of complex flavour, perfectly balanced. We also opted for the wine pairing and would highly recommend it. The meal was an adventure, with each dish and wine explained to us with great care. A special mention must be made of the proprietors, who took such care to treat each customer like their guest. Helen's knowledge and enthusiasm for wine was infectious, and Paul's friendly presence outside the kitchen to explain his beautiful dishes was a very nice touch. Both owners really made the evening, particularly Helen very kindly offering an extra bit of dessert with a candle for my birthday! They are genuinely warm, friendly people who have a very clear passion for what they do. An incredible restaurant experience all round, and certainly not to missed.

Phenomenal experience. Delicious food, well balanced and presented beautifully - every dish was as good or better than the one before. Wine pairing one of the best I’ve ever had. Staff were wonderful and made the whole experience a pleasure. Can’t wait to dine again in the future.

Superb, an eight course tasting menu each one delivering the WOW factor with flavours popping out at each new service. Gorgeous wine list and good value. Service top notch from beginning to end. Favourite course - difficult to say, but the baked Celeriac and Loin of venison were close 1st place. The final cheese board - stunning. I was sorry we didn't go for the wine pairing, it wouldn't have cost much more than what we paid for wine anyway. What a treat, hopefully we'll make it back sooner, rather than later.

We ate in Bastion last night for our wedding anniversary. Was a very special evening, table setting was perfect, staff were brilliant and the food fantastic. 5 star experience, would give it 20 out of 20 if there were more stars to choose from.

From the moment we stepped through the door of Bastion last night to the very end of the evening, this was a flawless experience. We had the tasting menu, and each dish was explained in detail as it arrived. We opted for wine pairing, which was an education for the palate. Co-owner Helen Noonan's wine selection brought out the subtleties of the dish they matched in a really exceptional way. Chef Paul McDonald is a culinary artist of immense talent, but what we both appreciated was the craft of his presentation and the appreciation for pure simplicity of ingredients. One of the outstanding courses, for instance, was a small bunch of locally grown charred sprouting broccoli, served with Macroom ricotta and a lemon and pernot emulsion. Perfect. A meal like this is expensive, but stays with you, as a fantastic concert experience or theatre booking will. This is art.

This is what a Michelin Star restaurant experience should be; subtle, sublime flavors with all local seafood, meat and produce with sensational canapes and amuse bouche. Wine pairings that complement and enhance are explained by a truly world-class sommelier.
