We stopped in at Caffe Nero because it opens earlier than anywhere else in town, and we wanted to get coffee and breakfast before leaving town. They were about 10 minutes late opening because there was only a single employee trying to open the cafe (including starting to brew coffee and baking pastries). Everything took a lot longer than we were expecting/hoping because of the understaffing (to no fault of the associate there trying her best). The lattes we ordered were fine, but some of the pre-made food options were interesting. One sandwich we grabbed was essentially just a slice of ham and butter on a massive roll. I'd be willing to give it another shot if we end up in Cork in the future, but if they plan to open earlier than everyone else, they should have a couple staff members helping with opening.

Coffee not the best but its not bad. Problem with the place is the rude staff. Young guy, short black hair with a small tattoo on his neck in particular, quite a rude little clown and its not the first time either I've experienced this, needs an attitude adjustment If I were the owner and hearing how he treats customers, he'd be out the door in a flash.

Pretty sad experience here. The coffee was fine and standard, however the purpose for our visit was to study and they wouldn’t allow laptops! They said they were too busy to have people studying, even if it was for less than 30 min. I understand they’re busy but what a horrible policy. Can’t say I’ll ever be back.

Unfriendly staff (one in particular, the other with red hair was nice) “making you a favour” to drink an overpriced bad coffee. Toilets smelling like ashtray, nah, there are better places to waste your money, nothing special.

Today I went to the cafeteria between 7 and 8 p.m. and a girl with white skin and brown hair served me in a very bad way, making me have a bad experience when buying my coffee. when i asked her a question she answered me in a grumpy way, she made me feel uncomfortable and was unhelpful. I hope they are more careful when choosing personnel to work with clients since one goes to the cafeteria expecting to receive good treatment and moments, which today was very disappointing.

I have been here a few times but when i visited today the staff was extremely rude. The two girls at the counter had a harsh tone and acted out when we asked them to help us clean out the table we wanted to sit in. I wouldn't be coming in here again. The place is great and the food is great as well. But the staff needs to work on their behaviour.

Went in today to get coffee with my husband. The lady serving was very rude and was more concerned with speaking to her friends than serving us. She also didn't fix the coffee lid to my husbands coffee and it spilled all over him. Coffee and cookie itself were lovely but terrible service

Friendly staff and good coffee. Housekeeping is not good, store in need of a good clean, especially the toilet, even the seat is stained brown.

Really nice place with a great, cosy atmosphere and lovely staff. I am always happy with their coffee because it is tasty and they know the right temperature. Great that they have a loyalty program as I could collect few free lattes like this. They also offer additional stamp on your loyalty card or application if you bring your own mug which is an added bonus. The Salted Caramel latte is fab!

Bit expensive for mediocre coffee... I had oat latte, definitely wasn't my favorite.

Lovely spot, coffee is delicious the snacks are very fairly priced and really good. LOTS of vegan options! I was served by Jason who was a pleasure and very friendly. Great staff! Thanks all!

Cozy coffee on Oliver Plunkett St with a friendly staff and delicious pastries 🍰. I've ordered a blueberry muffin cheesecake and a cherry iced latte 😋. Both were flavorsome but I would mainly recommend their iced latte !! Now the reason why I don't give 5 stars is quite simple, in my opinion this place need some improvements : - a great lofi or relaxing music playlist first to get more immersed in the present moment🎵. And secondly for reducing the fridge loud sound which may disrupted people focus. - Maybe invest in some tiny shelves to space up the sitting space and localized all the books in some precise point in the coffee. These advices aren't critics, it's just the result of my overall analysis 😉.

Lovely cafe in the city centre. Stays open later than most cafes and always has a few bits left even when late. Dog friendly which is GREAT! Often pop in on an evening stroll with the dog for a quick coffee!

I loved it. I had a wonderful smoothie, and the atmosphere was fantastic. You can have a great time with your friends or work in while you have some sweet.

Nice place however there aren't enough seats..this is one of the only places in Cork where you can get a coffee after 5pm so a couple more seats would be nice.

Nice place. Tea was nice. Cake ok. Service a little slow. Has potential to be lovely as it has a nice layout. Place is really dirty though. Walls, seats, skirting boards all really filthy. Layers of dust on lamps and lampshades. The place needs a deep clean..

I asked for a warm panini. The service lady took it out from plastic with bare hand onto the tray, once heated up while moving the panini from the tray to the plate all ingredients started falling out from the roll and she used again her bare hand to pick them up and put them inside of my panini. First using bare hand to serve food is disgusting I don’t know what she was doing with it before. Second she made complete mess out of simple panini. I said I just pay for coffee I don’t want panini anymore because she was touching it and didn’t use gloves and she started lying she didn’t do it, even though I saw what she was doing .This cafe for many years was the best cafe in town, now I might come back in 5 years if it’s still there to check if it improved…

Horrific service. Very surprised because I hold Ireland in such high regard when it comes to politeness and professionalism as that has been my experience 99% of the time. I don’t know what the girl (a barista in training) put in my drink, but I felt very sick after. I found them to be quite unsanitary. Also, the bathroom is disgusting and looks like a place where junkies shoot up. They even have a trash can expressly for needles, which for safety reasons, I understand why it’s there and it is greatly appreciated. Nevertheless, the bathroom was disgusting, had no toilet paper and ultimately I had to simply wait and go home rather than risk touching anything. I don’t expect the baristas to clean the bathroom, but they definitely need to hire professional services dedicated to simply keeping that bathroom in a better state ALL day. If the baristas are using that same bathroom and NOT washing their hands when they’re back in their kitchen/where they serve food, then they’re simply just tracking filth from the bathroom to the area where they serve food. The place was unclean and I won’t risk eating or drinking from there again.

It s a cozy place to have a coffee and some good snacks. We had a coffee there ,however I asked for coffee without milk, I got coffee with milk. Pistachio cake is too good! Must try. Overall its a fine place to dine in and take out.

I really love the roast of their coffee, except on this branch/location. The service was very poor, the barista never made a latte art but purely frothed milk poured over the espresso, looks like never been into training. The mess of the whole room is overflowing, the used mugs is in every empty tables like no one is attending. Poorly organized staff and unskilled professional. Hopefully they can provide same service such as in Dubai, UK and the likes.

Visited with my kids for a quick bit of juice and a bun. Food is the same as any other branch but the staff seemed genuinely perplexed that we wanted to order and ignored us while we stood waiting. Would not recommend.

  • 3/5 Christine B. 5 months ago on Google
I see I’m not the first to review with this same comment, so it seems like a consistent problem, but we came to get a coffee and hot chocolate for our kids because it opened at 7am (1 hour before anything else) and our jet lagged children had us up super early so we were killing time. The drinks we got were fine, but there was only one person working, who was making pastries, coffees, opening up the store etc. One person can’t possibly do everything and she couldn’t get to the door to open till closer to 7:15 so we literally sat outside in the cold waiting, and even then she was unable to take our orders for another 15 minutes because she kept having to go to the back for baking. She was nice but (understandably) overwhelmed. They either need to update their hours or get more help for the morning.

Love this place! Great coffees and sandwiches, served by lovely staff. I’m there almost everyday. Being your own reusable cup and get an extra stamp.

Good coffee and sweets. Very nice space they have here. Unfortunately, when I visited, the bathroom was poorly equipped.

Very good coffee, a great variety of pastries and treats and a really nice ambiance. It's also very nice that they open so early, if you want to have an early breakfast it's the perfect place!

Dropped in for coffee and cake with my husband and daughter today and never will again.I got carrot cake and to say it was dried out and hard is an understatement.Went back up to girl at counter and her attitude was absolutely disgusting.I decided to get a different cake ,which l might add wasn’t a lot better and she had the cheek to charge me 15c extra , no apology or nothing, just bad attitude and disgusting customer service

I took a very good soya cappuccino here. Price is not the cheapest one, but its soya so i could expect. However , staff was nice and place good for relaxing during a cold winter afternoon. Position is excellent, very central.
