Wonderful gothic design and serene grounds. We paid the additional € 2 for the tour guide whose name was Barry. He was very informative and enthusiastic. We enjoyed our time here and would recommend!

Maybe it's the prettiest attraction in the city. Amazing church. If you are planning to know the city, this should be the top 1, alongside the Hill (#2) and the Crawford art gallery (#3). Every part of the church is pretty. Everything about it is awesome, and the €7 is a cheap price to pay.

Designed by William Burges, St . Fin Barre's Cathedral, is one of Ireland's great iconic landmark sites situated in the heart of Cork City. The groundwork for this awesome architectural building began in or around 1865 according to historical data.

This is a Must Stop if you are visiting Cork. It's an incredible cathedral with a rich history. We were lucky that one of the docents, Steve, came and shared all sorts of amazing stories about the church, the stained glass, the eccentric architect who dressed like a court jester and ran 10x over budget, the relocated bodies of over 19,000 people, and the challenges with the pipe organ. There was also a story about the only female mason known! He was a font of knowledge about this place. It was awesome! I recommend getting there right when they open. This place gets busy.

A beautifully maintained cathedral of grandiose proportions, St. Finn Barre's is welcoming and pleased to share its gorgeous design with visitors. Details of its history are everywhere, and there's a more than a few unique points of interest. It can be traversed quickly and the entrance fee is currently a modest €6. The grounds are also spectacular!

From the outside, this must be one of the most astonishingly beautiful gothic cathedrals, period. The interior is less spectacular and doesn't quite justify the fee of 6€ on its own. The staff is extremely friendly, though and they will give you detailed information on the history! Definitely visit the cathedral to look at it from the outside and take a walk around the labyrinth and the old graveyard!

Saint Fin Barre's Cathedral in Ireland, built along the Lee River in the city of Cork. Dedicated to the city’s patron Finbarr of Cork (born 550) who founded a Monastery and his remains were brought to the site around the 7th-century AD. The original building survived until the 12th century and over time the site was rebuilt and used with various religious structures. In the attempt to build a much more powerful structure the Victorian architect, William Burges design won a competition for the current building. He designed most of the cathedral's architecture, sculptures, mosaics and interior. The foundation stone was laid in 1865 and it took until 1879 until the 3 limestone spires were completed. An estimate suggests that in total of some 1,260 sculptures include 32 gargoyles, each with different animal heads are included in the construction. Burges's highlight of the design was the western façade which includes the theme of the last judgement and the twelve Apostles bearing instruments of their martyrdom. A gilded copper "resurrection angel" facing eastward on the main spire is the cathedral's most iconic feature, designed and installed by Burges in 1870 as a donation. He originally won the award with a budget of 15,000.- Pounds but knew he needs at least double. With the details of the designs features its final cost was above 100,000.- Pounds.

We’ve got an amazing tour from the guy in the cathedral with a lot of specific information. It costs 7€ entrance but it’s worth it

This is in the top five of all of the cathedrals I have seen around the world. The amount of details found here is breathtaking. Make sure to take your time to appreciate all of the intricate details, especially on the facade.

During our visit to Cork, we spotted this cathedral in the distance and decided to walk there. Once we reached it, we were quite stunned by the awesome exterior which is really impressive. Unfortunately we had to pay an entrance fee of 5€, which was a bit too expensive for my friends, so I was the only one walking in to take some photos and see more of the cathedral. The staff was really nice and helpful and even from the inside is in an impressive building and the architecture is stunning. However, it’s nothing unusual if you’re used to seeing cathedrals. It’s still nice and very well worth the visit!

Nice visit for a rainy day. This Church of Ireland (Anglican) cathedral is pretty and worth a visit especially if it’s raining out. It’s compact & easy to visit. It’s 6€ per person. Check out the labyrinth in the yard.

Great experience, beautiful cathedral. I just don't think I should have to pay to enter a cathedral. It was 5 for a student and 6 for an adult.

Don’t bother driving around the town for parking, go right into the gates if you’re driving. There is a lovely gentleman at the door, if there is a mass going on you can ask the property ! Look out for the tombstone that says “died in 1610”!! Incredible Once mass is over you can go in and walk around, LOTS of reading on the inside The fee is €6/ person

Marvelous Cathedral, the site dating back to the 7th Century formed by St Fin Barre (Catholic) but rebuilt in 1860s under the Church of Ireland (Protestant) but all are welcome. The men at the ticket desk were very friendly and informative. Highly advice to go to the Cathedral Labyrinth outside and beyond the library building.

Gorgeous Gothic style Cathedral; beautifully ornate inside and out. Personally I felt the €7 entrance fee was reasonable - as there’s plenty to see, and the staff are wonderfully helpful and informative. There’s also a cute little gift shop with some great souvenirs.

This is a stunning cathedral with a great history. The tour guides are so nice and explain a lot about its history and weird and funny stories.

Very interesting cathedral, got a very good tour by a knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide. Well worth a visit, interesting book of photos showing the reconstruction in the 1860's - interesting mainly for the dress of the people in the photos. Also has a war memorial for the dead of the 2nd world war, which is unusual in Ireland.

Really nice and picturesque church. To go inside you have to pay but walking around the exterior is nice too.

Amazing cathedral with very intricate craftsmanship on display, both outside and inside. The stained glass is plentiful and impressive, but there is also an abundance of stonework, mosaics and carved marble to appreciate. The helpful guide Steve spent time with us to explain the history of the cathedral and told us the origin stories of many of it's unique features. Highly recommended.

Amazing cathedral with so much to look at. Stained glass tells stories from the Old Testament, lots of scenes I recognised, others I'll need to read up on. Beautiful ceiling in the sanctuary but also check out the mosaic floor.

Not religious at all, but the Saint Fin Barres Cathedral is amazing. The architecture, the glass, the mosaics and the organ are just something else. A must visit. Small entry fee, but we basically got a guided tour also. Crazy.

Arrived late for entrance. Outside is lovely: neo-gothic and many statues More to see inside, but it'll be for next time

    Beautiful cathedral inside and out.

Fantastic must see attraction when in Cork. Today's structure dates from the mid 19th century but is thought to have foundations from medieval times. Lovely manicured grounds to walk around with some headstones to view dating from the late 18th century. Small charge to view cathedral itself (€7). Parking available.

A beautiful cathedral in the heart of Cork. There is an entrance fee but when you see the amount of stained glass windows, you can see why the charge is needed. It is not a big cathedral but we'll worth the visit. The staff were friendly and helpful and the guide knew his history of the cathedral. A great place to worship and to visit.

This is a majestic building to behold. However, despite the signs saying it is open daily, it was closed to us upon arrival. We stopped on a Sunday at 2pm, but were denied entry due to an upcoming service at half past three. Would have adored to see the inside, but must leave it to my imagination.

A 6 euro entrance fee but worth it. After entering you are provided a guidebook which helps point out all the lovely details of this gorgeous cathedral.

What a beautiful cherub and grounds. The shop keeper is a treasure as well. Thank you for your kindness and for the added history of the church and pieces inside.
