This was a real surprise on the way to Cobh. Location of this privately owned castle is pure perfection.

Belvelly Castle is a 14th-15th century tower house in Co. Cork. It's located next to the small village of Belvelly and it overlooks the only road bridge connecting Fota Island to Great Island. The architecture of the castle is stunning and there's a big field right next to this castle. There's also a round cylindrical shaped room with a curved roof next to the castle. I lived walking around this place and would love to go there again!

On the bridge as you travel to Cóbh. A castle dating back to the Norman's now restored and what a fantastic job has been done on it. It is now a private home not open to the public but credit where credit is due the owners have spent a considerable amount of money on this project and what a landmark they have created.

This is a beautiful old watchtower, but it is privately owned, so it's not really open to the public. The owner does put on fantastic lighting displays that light up the tower at night 🌙. Well, it's worth a visit for that alone. Great, to combine a day at Fota with the family and see the tower that evening 😀

Beautifully restored castle on entry to the great island. This year the owners have decided to light up the castle for Christmas. The castle is privately owned.

Scenic location and beautifully built structure. Was closed on Sunday, so we couldn't view it from inside. Parking can be a hassle as it is located right next to the road.

Beautifully lighted up for St.Patrick’s Day 2021. I love to visit this castle from time to time. It’s close for public but you can always take some good photos.

Was there for a carol service. Great hosts and wonderful castle. The reconstruction is immaculate and is done extremely tastefully. Lovely evening.

if the walls could talk.....we couldn't go(I think someone is still living in it) in but for a quick stop and a few outside pics it was good ....I may do a little research later to learn a bit more.....

Fabulous landmark as you come over the bridge heading towards Cobh. It's now privately owned, what a place to live! Loved the tree popping out of the corner turret and the statue on the roof you can also just get a glimpse of a silver sphere in the front garden
