👍 This is an amazing church with great historical significance. Officially opened in 1930, this church was designed by the well known Chicagoan architect , Barry Byrne. Although he never set foot in the church, Byrne regarded it as his finest building. The church is one of the best, if not the best... People often mention church,

This is an amazing church with great historical significance. Officially opened in 1930, this church was designed by the well known Chicagoan architect , Barry Byrne. Although he never set foot in the church, Byrne regarded it as his finest building. The church is one of the best, if not the best, examples of modern Catholic Church design in Ireland. At the time it was constructed at the end of the 1920s, there was nothing like it architecturally in Ireland. The church features superb acoustics and the visitor will note that all lines in the roof lead to the altar. The entrance features a spectacular Christ sculpture with the peeks of the entrance doors blending into the arms of the Christ statue. The history of the church us a fascinating read for anyone interested in the history of the area and if Ireland in general.

It's huge... and beautiful! Made of concrete, design by a Frank Loyd's student, made by people of Cork. Interesting design and history.
