Stayed in numerous rooms over a number of weeks, all absolutely spotless with everything you need. Extra luxuries such as smart TVs, Jacuzzi baths and power showers a huge bonus. All staff extremely helpful and accommodating. Lovely feel to the place and the location couldn’t be any better. Right in the middle of Cork City with fantastic views of the River. Lovely parks close by and having private parking is fantastic. Would highly recommend for business or pleasure.

Recent stay and would definitely not recommend, first impression on entry was that the carpet was stained, skirting boards needed some attention, whole feel was shabby. An ironing board was set up on the first floor landing for the staff, the 'reception' area was very untidy and adjoining the kitchen. The room itself was somewhat dated in terms of furniture, one of the curtains was hanging off the rail and the curtains were difficult to draw because of the chest of drawers in front of them, the room wasn't quite ready on arrival (3.20pm) despite the literature saying check in from 2pm. Bathroom very small, no plug in the sink and if you put a bathmat outside the shower the bathroom door wouldn't open over it. Good coffee machine at breakfast.

Hostess was wonderful. Rooms were cute. Breakfast was excellent. River running right behind it. Driveway s almost the intersection, so be very observant when driving there.

Cute guest house right next to the Lee River. Our bathroom was big enough and cleaned to our satisfaction daily. The rather small room had some dirty corners that remained dirty throughout our stay. The window frames were moldy! The city center is a 10 minute walk away. It's a bang for the buck for city explorers.

Fantastic location just outside the city center of Cork and next to the Lee River. At the breakfast there is a nice river view. The staff is welcoming and the rooms are in super condition.

Great location, just minutes walking from city centre. Clean and comfortable but the best part was the wonderful staff - welcoming and very friendly!

Nice location. Ample parking. Very accommodating owner and friendly staff. Room and ensure well up to standard. JUST shy of 5 stars as there was a strong sewage like smell in the room that was a little off. Don't know if this is plumbing issue or the proximity to the river. Either way the whiff was unpleasant. Always the ultimate question must be Would you stay there again & the answer is YES.

Nice settings and view to the River Very well placed near city's centre Clean and tidy A bit pricey though but recommend for a short stay in Cork

Nice B&B, comfortable room. Very friendly Service only breakfastroom is small if large groups are in the house. Easy walk downtown.

Located on the river, in the student area of Cork, with ample parking, but no particular facilities for motorbikes. Access by road can be slow at busy times. Our double room was spacious, clean and nicely decorated, with a modern bathroom, containing a powerful shower. Tea and coffee was provided but no bottled water (and one pack of biscuits in a double room?). The wifi was free with no sign up and there was a good wifi signal, capable of supporting streaming, VoIP calls etc. There are plenty of sockets with USB outlets for your convenience, a small TV and hairdryer. There are a couple of food outlets opposite and plenty of bars and restaurants within 15 mins walk. Breakfast was good with a varied choice. My only criticism is that it is a ground floor room, facing the road, with no privacy to the window, other than to shut the curtains.

The staff are so helpful, friendly and obliging. We were in Cork to see family and they made our relatives so welcome when they visited allowing us to freely use the lounge with abundant hot drinks. Our rooms were spotless and beds very comfortable. Without prior planning I was provided with plant milk and GF bread! A super stay in every way and only 15 mins stroll into the centre x

Karen and her staff helped make our stay in cork very enjoyable. Nothing was too much trouble. We all felt very welcome. I was lucky enough to have one of the new rooms. Very comfortable. We will definitely be staying there every time we come to cork.

I had a wonderful stay at the Shandon Bells B&B. It was a cute, well-kept place, very close to the bustling streets of the city while still being quiet. The women who run it are kind and accommodating and even made us a delicious breakfast in the morning. I couldn't recommend this highly enough!

Great bed and breakfast that really goes above and beyond. Owners have been really attentive and wanted to make sure that we had everything what we needed for the duration of our stay. Rooms are very warm and free tea is available in the rooms. New bathrooms so that was very nice! Would definitely come back!

Second time staying in this brilliant B&B. The owner and staff are so lovely, and the rooms are very comfortable. Also excellent location - walking distance to everything

  • 2/5 Joanne B. 3 months ago on Google New
Unpleasant smell of damp marred our visit. A convenient location, as it was just a short walk into Cork city centre. We don't recommend the breakfast at the BnB - take advantage of some of the other amazing eateries close by.

Room was beautiful apart from mould in the corners. Comfortable bed but the whole room was absolutely freezing cold so wrap up. Had trouble sleeping due to this. Bathroom was spotless which was nice. The vegetarian breakfast was one of the strangest combinations I've had in a long time. Decent customer service. They don't take cash payments so be aware of this. Good walk from the city centre but definetly managable. Overall good experience but improvements could certainly be made. Likely won't return.

This is a great place. Rooms are comfy, clean, and very well fitted out, with tea and coffee and lockers etc. Many little comforts thought of. Staff were a little bit cold, but everything else was good

Location is decent it relation to city centre. Room is really small but at least it's clean. Staff need to learn how to knock. I was just out of the shower with over an hour to go to check out. They tried to walk into the room with out knocking and nearly had a full frontal nude show.

Stayed here in July 2023. The room as neat and clean but our bathroom had a distinctly sewage smell. Can't see how the cleaners could not have noticed this but it seemed a surprise when we told them. Luckily a plumber was there for another reason the next day and it improved somewhat. We were never told what the issue was. Left my smart watch charger by accident. Initial communication was good and they did find it. I asked them to send it home at my cost and after promising to do so, and a number of followup emails, they never sent it. Really disappointed about that. It was just a cord and would have been quite cheap to send and I was happy to pay. Location is good if you don't mind a walk to town centre.

What a disappointment. Uninviting entrance. Reeks of Asian cooking. Nothing charming about the property at all. Very run down looking. Needless to say I didn't stay. The young lady was extremely nice though.

Wonderful stay, exceeded all expectations!!! Karen was so lovely, enthusiastic and chatty from the outset, she really made us feel welcome. The room was modern, spacious and absolutely immaculate, it was perfect and had everything we needed. Ideal location, 10 mins walk from town. The next day, Karen made sure we went into town for breakfast rather than setting off on our journey straight away, as we had slightly sore heads from the night before! She let us park there for the day for no extra charge. Would definitely stay here again!

Great place to stay if you don’t mind 7-10 min walk into city center - we didn’t mind. Rooms were clean and staff was very responsive when we needed extra coffee. Small cafe across street for breakfast. Included private parking which was a plus.

One of the best places I’ve stayed - really warm room, friendly staff, and I was able to heat the packed dinner I’d brought with me in the communal living room which has a fridge and microwave which meant I could concentrate on my presentation for my conference and didn’t have to leave the guest house. Thanks!!!

  • 4/5 Laura R. 1 year ago on Google
Very clean room and a great location, the only downside was that there was a strong smell of meat from the breakfast in our room in the morning. As a vegetarian that wasn’t the nicest.

  • 5/5 Martin K. 1 year ago on Google
I recently stayed here for three nights. The location is amazing. Everything is within walking distance. They are currently renovating so the hallways are a little cramped by reception however that is fine. The bathrooms were finished to a high standard. Incredibly modern. The beds are super comfortable and I slept really well. I did not have breakfast there as I usually like to wander around the city and see what is in the area but it did smell delicious. I would certainly stay here again.

Best bnb I've stayed in in a long time. I'm a Doctor who needed a place to stay short notice as plans fell through during Covid (in stage 4 not stage 1 lockdown) and they helped me out short notice. They're also responsible covid wise. Immaculate rooms, bathroom was extremely clean, wonderful breakfast area with properly cooked breakfast. Staff give you a mobile number to text or call for arranging things and it makes life very simple. I know where I'm going next time.

A very special hotel, with lovely, unusual rooms and a beautiful setting on the river. The weather was very wet during our stay, but it would be lovely to stay here and have breakfast by the river on a dry day. Above all, SUPERB service. Even during the Coronavirus pandemic we were extremely well looked after. I left a treasured item in the room and Shandon Bells were good enough to post it back to me in the UK. Strongly recommend for couple and friends looking for a lovely place to stay in Cork.

There was no water for about an hour in the morning. When there finally was again, it was cold. I eventually gave up on waiting and didn't take a shower. When I mentioned that at check out, the lady told me that yep that sometimes happens. The room was fine but looked a little dingy. The location was solid about 15 minutes walk from downtown. Overall not a good place to stay since water should be a given...

I strongly recommend that everyone who is visiting Cork should stay at this B&B. The staff were helpful, accommodating and friendly, they literally couldn't do enough for you! The room itself was modern, spacious and had the best views of the river Lee, with a bubble bath in the bathroom, it really was a fabulous stay. The breakfast was superb, delicious good quality meat and plenty of variety, from cooked breakfast, pancakes and cereal/porridge. The breakfast area overlooked the river Lee too. The hotel itself is reasonably central, with you only needing to walk down the road and you're in the main shopping area, max 20min walk if that. There is plenty of nightlife also to keep you occupied. The hotel is also on the main bus routes of 205/208. Absolutely fantastic stay and I look forward to returning soon! Kirsty

This place was absolutely amazing! Such a cozy bed and breakfast. The host was extremely kind and was ready for any questions about the city or B&B we had. She described Shandon Bells as the Venice of Cork and I couldn’t agree more! If you are in the city, I recommend you stay here.
