Booked through booking.com, cancelled on day (cancellation came through while sitting in their reception area), presumably so they could hike their prices on a busy Saturday. Reason was that card had declined pre-authorization, even though card working fine and they wouldn't attempt to use the card in front of us while we were there in the house.

5 stars are based on the fact that this place met all my requirements for a quick stop over in Cork. Price, clean comfortable room, location and pleasant staff. All the boxes were ticked

Room was small and one socket had exposed wires. Shower / toilet was small and needed updating. Only good point was off road parking

The room was ok. Clean. More space than I needed. Very noisy road right outside. And I didn't stay at Achill Guest House. I booked a room there. But, when I showed up, my room was in another house ten minute walk away. In the direction away from downtown. And I had just taken a taxi right past that house to turn around and walk back carrying my luggage.

Telephoned Achill Guest house on the 18th June 2022 requesting a double room for one night 25/6. The lady Helena stated she had a room at another house. The cost was €149.00 for one night. She requested card details. I then discovered that €149.00 was taken from my account on the following day 19th. I was informed when booking, the price did not include breakfast. Called to Achill House on the 25th for key as directed. We went there left our luggage in a hurry. We returned there around midnight and went to bed. We were awoken during the night by the sound of running water and discovered it was water constantly running into the toilet bowl. There were two used bars of soap left on the inside window sill of the ensuite. We then discovered the following morning that this was a house occupied by students from time to time. There was no tea or coffee facilities in our room. The kitchen was not clean and there was a used cereal bowl unwashed left on the kitchen worktop. Definitely overpriced at €149 euros for a bed for a night. Won't be back ever

Ok if staying in Cork, free parking on property for 4 cars not great parking as you can get blocked in. Not B&B basic room TV didn't work, tired appearance.

I should also note that I did not stay at this hotel and had to find other accommodations. The owner refused to accept cancellation and still expected to be paid after telling me I would likely not have a place to stay after being 15 minutes late and waiting in the rain for 20+ minutes. I did not continue to wait to see if she would change her mind.

Booked 1 night here to have a night out in cork city, we paid over €100 for the 1 night. This is absolutely disgraceful for what you get. The room was not as advertised, it was extremely small, the bed could barely fit 2 small people so you wouldn’t want to be any bigger or need some space while sleeping. The tv in the room did not work when we turned it on, the shower needed a clean, I didn’t even have one because I felt I would come out less clean than when I got in. The rooms were so dated for the price. Also on arrival we were told we need a deposit of €100. We explained we had €80 cash and could pay €20 on the card. After being very hesitant on this the woman said she will accept. I was also asked for Photo ID and to provide proof of address? I have never been asked for proof of address booking anywhere in or outside of Ireland. Would not recommend this place at all. Not worth the money. Also told check out time was between 10:30 and 11am. We had our alarms set and ready to be up and out for 11am and we got a phone call at 10:15 to tell us to get up and out. Not worth the money at all!

firstly you should be aware that there is NO BREAKFAST I reserved a room on the understanding that the doctors looking after my husband would not let him out of the hospital; . This was understood by the owner, They did let him come home but I was still charged the full room rate despite cancelling over 24 hours in advance.

Simple and clean hotel / bed and breakfast. Unfortunately the advertised on-site parking was the paved over front garden of the place, which was full when we arrived. Which meant we had to find a parking spot along one of the roads near the hotel. Beware: parking on the streets is only free during certain hour. The accommodation itself was fine, although I didn't particularly enjoy the upstairs guests consummating their marital life in the middle of the night. On a positive note: we had a misunderstanding over breakfast which wasn't included in our case, but the landlady let us eat there for free.
