An amazing coffee store that's been around for decades (pre coffee trend). The owner purchases a whole selection of coffee beans through a coffee soucer based in London. I tried the Mocha bean from Ethiopia and it was delicious. Maher's supply many coffee shops across Cork city and the coffee always tastes wonderful. The shop also contains many neat coffee devices. If you are into coffee you'll enjoy this shop.

Bought "dark roast" sumatra beans. They came out of the bag looking a light brown milk chocolate colour. I ground and brewed them ( espresso machine). I ended up with sour coffee with none of the flavour notes i would expect from a dark roast sumatra. So i reroasted them myself and got a full second crack from the batch. Now i can see oil on the beans' exterior, as one should with a dark roast. Now i also have to wait for another 48 hours for it to taste right. This is a lot of work for a cup of coffee. Starbucks know how to roast beans so ill just get them there in future. Alfred Peet knew what he was doing. Unfortunately all these 3rd wave hipster roasters think they can rewrite the book. Im so fed up with sour acidic under roasted beans from irish companies. So are most people who have been drinking gourmet coffee for 25 years or more.

Like a kid going into a sweet shop I thought it was heavenly. I was asked "which coffee are you after?" I wanted to say ALL. How do you know which coffee is better than the best..... Try small amounts she said.... She was right.. I did and I texted some types and came back to test more. All good Hard to decide. French roast is favour so far. But everyone has different taste. For all the above. The same Ia true when you find the tea selection. Fresh organic tea leaves

If you're in Cork and you need coffee, beans or ground - go here. Lots of different blends for all palates. Mahers also stocks a wide selection of coffee hardware. It seems that the shop is never without customers but the service is quick enough and attentive.
