Very good address We came at 6 and a little late but the restaurant was kind enough to accept us. The decoration is charming and worked it corresponds to the atmosphere. The waitress is great, very professional and friendly. The food is generous, the Chashu ramen is a value for my part, quite a lot of pork strips which is very appreciated, the broth is maybe a little less fatty than expected but finally it's not bad considering the size, the other guests liked it. Special mention for a friend who discovered this cuisine and liked the bento very much. The quality-price ratio is acceptable.

Food was extremely delicious. My wife and I had the kimchi seafood stew and the soft shell crab sushi roll. The stew was out of this world. Balance of spicy and savoury and also very nice to have it hot during this cold weather. The sushi was delicious too. We even order one to go before heading back home. The amount of meat in the stew was a lot. A bit on the pricey side but worth every penny. Friendly staff amd nice environment. Also provided a complimentary green tea upon seating. Service was fast but keep in mind there was just ourselves and another 2 groups eating at that time. Would recommend anyone in Cork in search of Asian/Japanese sushi. Would try it again when back in Cork. Washroom was clean as well.

Honestly the single best service I have ever received. Was served by a girl named melody and she went above and beyond for us, would highly highly recommend this place to everyone I know!! The food is also delicious :P

Food was great, nothing fancy but still great and the staff was nice and friendly. The wait wasn't too long and they still managed to let me in without reservation so quite happy about this 😊

Disappointing, comparing to other Japanese restaurants located in other countries. There are some skills but it feels like there is a lack of passion. The food was not as tasty as we expected and as we set our expectations. 2 stars for the quality, interiors and service all together. Japanese cuisine should be full of flavours and textures and not plain or super salty.

We had the chicken katsu and vegetarian ramen for takeout. Both were good but we weren't blown away, the atmosphere in the restaurant seemed really nice though!

Really fab food, but the staff had um...an interesting attitude, to put it kindly. We'd come in for dinner after not eating since breakfast and with a fair bit of hiking and adventuring under our belts between the two meals. Hungry was an understatement! We ordered an appetizer, an entree, and six sushi rolls to split between the two of us. The waitress told us that was "too much food" for us to order, and we had to assure her multiple times it was fine. As I said, food was great, and it came out quickly, but we could hear the waitress talking to other staff negatively about us, while she continued to be very condescending and cold for the rest of the meal. After our rolls arrived, we attempted to order a bottle of sake and she instead said we'd be better off with the small size. Knowing better than to argue with anyone handling our food, we rolled with it. Overall, it was a solid meal but I wouldn't return. Come if you're hungry, but not if you're *too* hungry.

I have been going to Sakura on and off for a few years and I have always loved it and recommended it to others who were looking for good Japanese food in the city. I unfortunately will not be recommending Sakura again to people due to the experience myself and my partner had there last week. We had a booking for 7pm and we were seated for then, all good. It took staff 25 minutes to get to our table to take our order, when we were sitting with our menus down and trying to get the attention of a waitress for a number of minutes. Eventually we got our order taken and it came relatively quickly, about 15 minutes. Between a little after we sat down and a little after we finished our food (around 45 mins), there was a table of 6 people who had left the restaurant and the table was not touched for that entire length of time. It didn't directly affect us, but we noticed how slow the service was when something like a table being cleaned took upwards of half an hour to get done. Once we finished our food, the waitresses did not notice us for around 20 minutes. We had empty plates and put them at the edge of the table, but none of the staff noticed at all for far too long. We were tempted to get up and go up to the counter to ask it be taken away, but someone came just as we were about to do so. As the plates were taken, we asked if we could get the dessert menu, as we saw it on the previously mentioned table of 6 and wanted to have a look. It took the waitress 10 whole minutes to hand us the menu, which is frankly ridiculous. When she gave it to us, she said that she had forgotten about it. We waited ANOTHER 15 minutes for her to come back to take our order, but once again we were forgotten about. My partner went up to the counter to ask for our order and then sat back down. Another 15 minutes pass and we decide we had enough and we asked for the bill. The dessert was not even on the bill, so it had been forgotten about as well. The food we had was lovely, but the service was genuinely some of the worst I have ever had in a restaurant. This was my first time back in Sakura in about a year, so I was really excited to have my birthday meal there. This experience has led me to not wanting to go back to the restaurant, and I will be telling friends and family that the food is good but the service is not worth it.

Love the food here. Delicious I couldn't say a bad word. However my card is always declined which has led me not to be able to get my takeaway meal. This evening I attempted to pay with two different cards, both were rejected. Bring cash. They need new machines that accept contact less.

Terrible restaurant. They covered my tonkatsu in mustard and tontaksu as opposed to putting it in the side. So effectively, you have no choice in how much sauce you want. Never mind the poor quality ingredients. Utterly bizarre. The place is freezing, damp, and dirty. It is barely passable at all for a Japanese restaurant considering the setting of a mix of Asian themes and the tripe that they serve up, supposedly being Japanese. 😆

A little gem in MacCurtain street! Everything was perfect, the staff was very prepared and extremely polite, even when we arrived 45 minutes before our reservation and they asked us to come back later. The food was just gorgeous. We got some sushi from the menu (the one with eel was incredible) and a bento. I even liked the tempura, which I'm not a fan of! I was also positively surprised by the prices, low for the amount and quality of fish offered. Will definitely come back sooner than later.

Delicious Sakura Ramen and tea. Ordered extra spicy and it was lovely. Staff friendly and attentive.

Been going to Sakura for years, portions became smaller and smaller but tonight was absolutely too much. Had to wait 1h20m for takeaway and the salmon platter was absolutely disgraceful: 2 sashimi instead of 3, no roe whatsoever and barely any salmon in the maki.. This for 19€? Sorry Sakura, never again.

I went to Sakura last night for dinner with three of my friends. We all absolutely loved it! Such a diverse menu which meant we took our time deciding and had a range of dishes. The food came quickly and was delicious! We’ll definitely be back again!! Very affordable prices!!

Excellent experience, the food was delicious but for 15 euros I wouldn't mind a larger quantity on my plate. Apart from that, the staff was very kind, and the atmosphere is very cosy. 😋

Decent Japanese-only food (i.e. no fusion of other asian styles) with sushi, noodles, and regional specialty dishes like okonomiaki. Sushi nigiri pieces are too small and without wasabi under the fish. Starters karaage and gyoza seem like they are from frozen foods section. Soup noodles (e.g. ramen and udon have nice flavor (only tried vegetarian broth, they also have beef & pork combo broth but no chicken only broth). Food service could be timed better.

This is a lovely little restaurant. We ate well, for a good price. Service was impeccable, a smiling friendly young lady, nothing was any bother. The menu is quite extensive, many vegetarian choices. Delicious! And my partner enjoyed the beer recommended. My only comment is that it's bench seating, not chairs, it is comfortable enough to eat but not to linger, which is a pity as I would have like a coffee but chose to go...

Went here a few years ago and liked it, went again recently and now I love it. The food, the staff, the ambience all fabulous. Its not plush but it has so much character. Toilet access for wheelchairs would pose a problem though. When this restaurant gets the attention it deserves you will struggle to get a booking.

Been here 3 times already and planning to come back regularly. Every meal has been top class. The ramen, the sushi, the tonkatsu, the beer, the starters- nothing to fault about it. The hardest part is deciding what to order each time because it's all amazing and beautifully presented too. Not to mention how goregous the interior is inside, just makes you feel like you've been transported.

Superb food, presentation and service. My favorite Japanese restaurant in Cork. Only downside for me is the chairs or seating. It's a bench style format with no backrest and I like to rest my back when eating.
