Some of the rudest staff in the A and E department, floors were clean but the cleanliness of chairs and beds were filthy. Took my bloods and told me they were fine, was waiting 9 hours before a nurse came to look at me, leaving me sit in a pool of blood for this long. Still no sign of seeing doctor, another 3 hours passed I left with no diagnosis and went to a different hospital. Bearing in mind there is no A and E in hospital I went to, they took me in and sorted me straight away, turns out my bloods were not fine and I needed surgery almost straight away. Thank god I left CUH otherwise I could have worse problems than when I went in there!!

We are lucky to have this hospital. People would be lost without the A&E here . The all staff are just amazing . Everyone works very hard . Itโ€™s a huge hospital itโ€™s easy to get lost . Every where is spotless especially the toilets. There is great parking . But this is very expensive.

Such a badly run hospital. Had an appointment for my mother at 10am and was not seen till 11.30am how is this even acceptable. Expect a 80 year old woman to be sitting in a bloody wheelchair for 90mins past her appointment time. And now have to wait another few hours for a bloody scan. Bloody jokes! I wouldn't even give them a star if that was an option!

I can not describe how bad is the service there..... I was told they have no staff and they can not help me with the thing I am calling ( I called to maternity emergency rooms) after 15 minutes someone pick up the phone! I am pregnant I was in pain! I do not believe that this is how the hospital works, THEY JUST DONT CARE-SHOCKING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Apart that it is not the first time I am having such a bad experience. Caring for the patient, the pregnant woman is so incredibly low that I want to cry ... The worst thing is that no opinion of the patient will change anything because the hospital staff and doctors simply don't care. You will not understand this until you find yourself in a critical situation and need the care / intervention of a doctor ... then you will understand what a Cork Hospital is all about...

Try to avoid going to the A&E here if possible, make it an absolute last resort. No matter how minor your issue is expect to wait at least 5 hours so be sure to bring a packed lunch. It's a joke shop to be fair. I don't think they're under staffed to be honest I really feel the current staff are just not good enough. The staff that are 40+ years of age just need to get the boot. Only there to pass a bit of time. Rude and unhelpful.

Was here today , left home 8am for an appointment at 9.30. arrived at the hospital.. and was first in line. despite this i was still waiting to be seen until 12.30. Why make this appointment..if it cannot be kept... despite staff being nice, i can tell you they had a break at 10 am. and went to lunch at 1pm. unlike patients like me and patients with children who had to sit in a cold corridor , some without breakfast waiting to be seen. It is shocking. In total there were 10 people waiting ,from 9 am and did not get seen until after 2pm. How can this be possible... The HSE should be closed down. because it is disfunctional. On top of the long waiting, car park fees and the most disguesting sandwich and coffee ..If it were a private company it would definitely be closed down.I eventually got to go home at 2pm. and still not sorted. must repeat this in a weeks time.

Phoning from Australia the receptionist was so kind. I was so relieved to hear her kindness. On my arrival a day or so later, the nurses in intensive care were looking after my grandson so very very well on life support. I said my goodbyes. Im grateful that everyone knew his name and not a number.

I can go to a disco, a packed pub, a Garth Brooke concert with 80,000 people but two fully vaccinated parents can't remain with their unwell child in A&E. Disgraceful attitude by the hospital, what's the point of getting vaccinations.

Well they accidentally killed my sister Christmas week 2021 so anything I say now might be coloured by this fact. I've been treated here myself many times as have other family members, including now deceased sister, and lived to tell the tail. The shortage of beds is an ongoing disgrace. For at least 35 years that I recall. The slow/ long waiting times in A+E are unhelpful at times of distress but none of that is the staff fault. COVID became an excuse for really shoddy patient care in several wards which did result in disaster for many I dare say. Again, the staff are always wonderful kind compassionate people but the health care system in this country IS broken, COVID just highlighted what many of us already knew

After my son's surgery I can't accept that antibiotics or anti-inflammatory were not offered first to him instead of launching a testicular operation on a child. Not enough tests before offering surgery, ultrason should have been done as I asked but declined. This is unbearable for me a surgery for epididymitis. The consultant was kind but when itโ€™s child related itโ€™s good to do further analysis before. We are all human beings and we are waiting to get the best advice not the most expensive or riskiest solution. You trust on medical advice but sometimes itโ€™s better to get another advice when itโ€™s surgery related. Finally he got Staphylococcus. For all future issue he will get we will fly. His health is precious for me. We went there because it was on night and I saw on Internet it was the only one opens 24/24h.

A disaster of a place to have to go to hours waiting to be seen staff ran of their feet and under terrible pressure to operate efficiently. Not the Nurses Or Doctors Fault that lies squarely with the HSE, THE GOVERNMENT AND A POOR EXCUSE FOR A MINISTER FOR HEALTH.

I have never been treated so badly in my life. I went to have my stitches removed and the woman in the ER treated me very badly. Please do not go to this hospital unless it is an emergency.

A lot of time waiting. A person who could not sit for hours without seeking emergency care was admitted when he was in great pain. for a long time. Really scary. Someone could die waiting that many hours. It takes a long time to install.

My mum had to go to A & E recently after all negative comments on air she was very nervous . I accompanied my mum and I must say everybody in that hospital was absolutely amazing . They were so respectful and nice to my mum and alll very professional. I could not say enough about the staff they go above and beyond . Even though the hospital was really busy it was nice to see my mum having her own cubicle and not in a corridor . The only minus which is a small one is that the trolly bed was uncomfortable and for an older person it is difficult for them to lie on one for a certain length of time . But I do want the staff to know that I appreciated everything they did for my mum

Was on holidays for a few days in Cork and had to bring my little boy to A+E at midnight on a Tuesday night as he had difficulty breathing/stridor. The staff were amazing and was treated so quickly and efficiently even though the A+E department was really busy. Thank you so much for looking after my little boy.

The Doctors, nurses and staff of the Orchid Centre & the Dunmanway unit are so friendly and welcoming and make what started as a daunting journey a much more bearable experience. They do a difficult job, under various pressures in what is so often a thankless job. I for one am extremely thankful and will be forever indebted for the treatment and care I have and continue to receive. Hope other people don't have to avail of these services but those that do rest assured your in good hands.

Today, 28th, January I was at Cork University Hospital. The reason is because I went to specsavers to get my eyes checked and the optometrist referred me to the hospital for uveitis (which I had been to the hospital for the same reason before). When i got there around 3:30 pm i checked in and went straight to the eye clinic. I said hi and a guy asked me โ€œare we waiting for you?โ€ and I explained to him that I had an appointment (Specsavers called the CHU and made an appointment for me) and that someone there should know I was coming. After a few minutes a doctor/or someone studying to be a doctor... showed up and I gave him the letter that I from specsavers and he was really rude and told me why I was there... same as the guy before, looks like they weren't in the mood to work or intended to assist someone with eye problems (very odd for a hospital). He looked into my eyes very rudely and told me it was just mild inflammation and gave me a prescription. I told him that the optometrist (who is a medical student) told me that untreated uveitis can be a serious thing, I also told him that I hate the hospital environment and that on a beautiful Saturday like today, I wouldnโ€™t choose to go in a hospital if it wasn't necessary. I wished hin a good afternoon and left. The reason for my complaint is because it is unbelievable how someone so unprepared can be in a position to take care of a human being without the minimum of education and kindness. I hope that other patients do not face the same experience and I also hope that whoever is in charge of this department can see my message and at least give this poor guy some feedback for whatever reason he feels he has a right to treat someone the way I was treated.

Even as a staff member, I too admit the A&E nurses are very rude. The wait times are ridiculous and the CUH Emergency Department is a joke. They are good at what they do when you do get seen, but very inefficfient.

Absolutley fabulous team there. Had procedure with Dr Stephen Power in Radiology who was just fantastic, explaining everything throughout. I felt in such safe hands. Started in Cumh first before the procedure. Can't speak highly enough of the whole team I met both on the ward and in Radiology. I was scared but they were all so lovely to me and looked after me so well. Special shout out to all the girls in Radiology(Mary,Sheila,Cathy,Amanda,Gemma to name afew) with their positive banter to calm me down, it made it so much easier. You are such a lovely team there. Also a shout out to the girls on ward 2 in Cumh(Rinsie George, Aliana, Aoife, Mary, and Suzanne on nights(sorry I delayed you leaving after your night shift had finished!!!),you looked after me so well before and after the procedure! The care was outstanding in both departments despite it being so busy. You are all a credit to CUH/Cumh. All the best.Ann Marie

34 hour wait in A&E to get a laceration stapled. No beds available made to wait in a chair. Exhausting. Staff made rounds with breakfast, lunch, and dinner which was appreciated.

Have been here 3 times recently for a benign tumor in my leg, had a CT and 2 X-rays. Wait times can vary wildly, one of those times I had an X-ray and a CT, with a parking time of about 3 or 4 hours. However, another time I was in for an X-ray and to see a specialist. That time, I was waiting only shortly. Probably will have surgery in the south infirmary, will make a review on its Google Maps page.

Very abusive and neglectful towards the elderly citizens of this country. Using excuses about understaffing when half of the time understaffing has nothing to do with it. Pure heartlessness and incompetence at it's best. Sadly this is not the first hospital, and it's doubtful that it will be the last. Fight for your loved ones when they go in here, or into any hospital throughout the Republic. Document everything on paper and take photos. Investigate whom the CEO of the hospital is and demand to speak with him/her when continueos issues keep arising.

The doctors and especially the nurses were so helpful. From the minute I entered the hospital they put me right at ease and couldn't do enough for me. They were so busy but everytime I called them and other patients also calling them they came straight away to help. You can see they are under pressure and under staffed I think but I can't fault them. Brilliant nurses and doctors and all the staff also.

My daughter suffered a bad burn on her foot, she spilt boiling water on it. We took her to A&E in CUH and we were met by Dominic who went above and beyond to help her, he was fantastic, he calmed her down and me too, truth be told. She was whisked into triage and I was able to follow on. She was treated by a doctor called Kirsten so again was absolutely fantastic. Top class service, thank you Dominic and Kirsten

I have just come from A&E eye emergency department. The hospital staff from porters to doctors has been such a wonderful experience. I felt looked after, the place was aired, clean and friendly. Everything was done in a timely manner, even under the pressure of the day. Thank you to all the wonderful staff members at Cork University Hospital.

If Carlsberg made Hospitals!!!!!! The staff in CUH are on another level. I'm biased, I know being originally from Cork but having sampled the other hospitals in Munster, CUH is a good few steps above the rest. We all understand that all hospital staff are under pressure but a kind word, great attitude & a willingness to help is abundant here. What was also noticeable were clear messages from surgeons, doctors, triage & porters, everyone had a pep in their step. They say that it all starts at the top, so we'll done to David Donegan & his team๐Ÿ‘

So horrible up there. Waited hours to be seen, got in the beds and they were disgusting. The sheets weren't changed, it smells like dog, the nurses and doctors were rude, haven't eaten in days from them. How do they expect to mind us when all they do is sit around all day and malnourish us? They made my experience worse, and absolutely sprinted out of the hospital when I heard home. They gave me the wrong tablets and gave me a random person's booklet for surgery when it wasn't for me, nothing up there is clean, the bathrooms are manky, it's DIRTY!! never going up there again would rather go across the country than go there. My cousin works there and she even said the hospital is horrible, ur lucky I'm giving you a 1 star because if there was an option to give 0 I would. Very disappointed.

The outpatient services of this hospital are an absolute joke. They book everyone into the same clinic at the same time and you have small kids waiting all day at a dressing clinic to have a dressing changed!!! Staff couldnโ€™t care less, computer says no attitude. Everyone in the unit is on a go slow no wonder people are waiting all day. Had to take the day off work in the end to be able to get the other kids from school. It was 4 x 1.5hr trips to make it work and get my wife and kids back home. Whole day for a dressing change!

I was in puffin ward not that long ago and the nurses did not make me feel comfortable and one lady was especially rude to me for no reason, And the rules they had for me and some other patients were really unnecessary. The whole time I just wanted to go home.

Sat in the A&E for 12 HOURS, from 8pm to 8am without a doctor coming to see me, sat i a chair which is impossible to sleep in, no beds available and nobody came to check up on you. Got one check up for my blood pressure but thatโ€™s it. Itโ€™s was absolute torture to sit there for that long. Never coming back unless Iโ€™m dying. The one German nurse that took the first screening did a great job, but the rest was torture.

I came into A & E from an RTA before Christmas. I cannot fault the medical care and attention given to me. The Nurse in on duty that night was very good. All the medical staff were kind, efficient and polite. I spent the night on a trolley in a side bay but was still looked after. If I had to complain it would be the fact that the next morning, it took 3 hours to be discharged because no-one would take five minutes to write a prescription. Later I was in for a day visit to treat the fracture and I couldn't fault the care and professionalism. After I developed some complications, I was admitted through A & E again into the hands of Elaine (don't know her surname). This lady is a star and she spent the day getting me the specialist care I needed until my discharge.
