This is my second experience with the Bons. I have to say, I don't understand the vibe. The hospital facilities are tired, the decor drab and the food is terrible with tiny portions. The staff though, could not be nicer. I stayed there for a week for my procedure. The more recent experience has been a nightmare. I've been waiting more than a month for results, and have been pushed from pillar to post. I know we have a pandemic situation, so things might take a little longer then usual, but I don't think I should be chasing for results five weeks on. Parking is a major issue, with people having to park some distance away from the hospital, annoying the residents of the surrounding area. I wouldn't be returning to the Bons by choice. If I can get what I need from the Mater or CUH, I would go there instead.

Pros - Well managed hospital with speedy diagnostics in a calm, clean environment. -Some very kind & helpful Junior/House doctors. - Also some lovely nurses, & hardworking healthcare assistants, cleaning & catering staff etc. -Food quite good considering a hospital setting. Cons - A most unpleasant Breast Care Nurse (EH) with a catty, nasty & highly unprofessional attitude at times. This is the recent experience of my family & other families too. Although quite sure she is cunning enough to be polite to some when it suits her. Improvements necessary to the provision of parking & opening hours of restaurant & other services. Liaison cancer nurse (KM) complains of being too busy to respond to patient's families. Many other patients/families have the same experience. Some parts of the hospital require a complete overhaul & modernisation including a more secular ethos/infrastructure. -

This is my second procedure at the Bons. The new part of the hospital is beautiful and very modern but the old part definitely needs to be refurbished. Dr Brian Barry and his team are really professional and lovely. The nurses are amazing. I was checked in at 9:30 and with prep, assessment, procedure and recovery I was discharged at 1:30PM. Great hospital.

Impressive, bright and airy. Well laid out, important to look for green signs for directions to various clinics. Difficult to navigate, for someone unused to layout, and setup, so DO ask directions of helpful gent at info desk, on left inside main door.

Exceptional care, amazing and kindhearted people working there made my stay and post surgery time much easier. Couldn’t be happier with the surgeon, treatment and everything else.

In the last year I have had two operations in the Bons in Cork. Two exceptional surgeons Mr. O’Boyle and team and Mr.Mushtaque and team. The compassion and competence shown by every single person in this hospital is second to none. You know that you are in the best hands. Cannot recommend this hospital enough.

I was there 2 days ago. From admission to waiting room, 20mins in theatre, after treatment till release: absolut professionel, friendly doctors/nurses, theatre personel incredible relaxed but work hand in hand with surgeon. Tea/toast after long stretch of "no food prior to admission" was the cream on top. Dr Christine Cleary, pain management stands 100% on top of her job. I'm happy it's done but I would go again without any hesitation! I'm very happy and it was just a very relaxing experience. Many thank to all the involved people working hard day after day to help patients. Stefan waelti, KENMARE

I had an outstanding experience yesterday at this hospital during my procedure. The nurses who attended to me were exceptional, and the doctor who treated me was brilliant. I felt like I was in very good hands throughout my time at the hospital, and without a doubt, this hospital has the most impressive staff I have ever encountered.

Excellent care. I underwent surgery at the Bon Secours and received exceptional treatment. All staff members are compassionate and knowledgeable, informing you at each step of your procedure. I was able to receive routine medical testing as well as specialized surgery. The Bon Secours has a wide range of clean and modern facilities. Thank you to staff here for creating a safe environment.

Recently stayed in the children's ward with my little boy who had numerous scans carried out. Thank you in particular to Nisha who worked tirelessly all the time. Nothing was too much trouble for her and she is a great asset to the Bon Secours.

I have had several life saving operations in the Bons, the last being about three weeks ago. All were cancer related. The ward staff from the cleaners to the nurses, doctors and consultants have a great attitude and are so professional. That also can be said of the staff in radiology.

I ended up in hospital recently and had to stay for 7nights I was very ill. I must say the excellence of care I got was phenomenal. Times are very strange at the moment over covid but I must say the care I got from staff will never leave my mind. They were fantastic. I would highly recommend the bons in Cork and I would go there again.

Got rushed in after having a severe aneurism. staff treated me extremely poorly and ran inhumane tests on me while they thought i was unconscious. The canteen was filled with green and brown sludge which cannot legally be deemed as food. Not to mention they had a sign that read; β€œBRUH!!! everyone needs to have at least one vegetable or fruit on their plate. it’s not our bussin business if you eat it or not, but be cool yo! rizz OUT!” my gp informed the hospital to prepare me for surgery. they drew a wonky square on my stomach and had at me while i was pinned down to a chair. they took out my liver and replaced it with a toy car, at least the extreme amount of alcohol has nowhere to go anymore! as i was being wheeled out by my daughter, one of the workers came over and blew my chair over, sending me flying across the hallway, he pranced down the hallway at light speed, pronouncing; β€œThis is not the last you’ve seen of Naoise Fitzgerald!!!” awful hospital, come here if you want to give away organs!!!

Thank you to Dr Crochan OSullivan and the entire cardio team for adding to my life span after a successful angioplasty/angiogram today. To the wonderful Philippine lady from the catering team who fed me such beautiful food after my 11hr fast I add my highest praise.

I have attended the Bon Secours a few times over the years and have just recovered from a major operation on the 3rd of November last and have to seriously compliment Dr. Matt Hewitt, his medical team who assisted him during the procedure and of course the nurses who were just exceptional in their duties. Everyone were so professional, friendly and respectful at all times and even though they were under pressure at times, all my needs were met and I felt taken care of which helped with my recovery process. I also enjoyed a good sense of humour with them. I was in the older part of the Hospital and it was immaculately clean at all times and I was then moved to the new part of the hospital and wow, it was just beautiful. I ended my 5 day stay in the hospital with a visit to the chapel to top it off. I would highly recommend this hospital for the care, service and professionalism of everyone

AVOID AVOID AVOID An excuse for a hospital. Appalling service. I value my health and that of my loved ones - we will not attend this Hospital again. Last experiences with three family members ended up with each going elsewhere for correct diagnoses - 1 CUH, 1 Mater Private and 1 health care professional. This hospital seems to be driven by profit rather than service.
