😠 A&E is a waste of time & lots of Money!! Wouldn’t let a family member(living in the same household) in to support despite patient being in severe distress to then see a husband & wife arrive together in next cubicle?it seems 1 rule for 1 & one rule for another. Guy on reception very rude & cold not... People often mention staff, care, hospital, nurses, time, service, waiting, Mater, appointment, days,

A&E is a waste of time & lots of Money!! Wouldn’t let a family member(living in the same household) in to support despite patient being in severe distress to then see a husband & wife arrive together in next cubicle?it seems 1 rule for 1 & one rule for another. Guy on reception very rude & cold not suited to his job particularly as he is the first person you meet. Save your money it seems to be about money making & not patient care. A very expensive mistake. Avoid!!

Pre op was was awful, after a early start and a train journey to get there, my appointment was for 10am, I was left sitting on a chair in a room, quite cold, had to ask for a blanket. Wasn't seen until 3pm. The staff didn't seem to care. Post op, theater staff and nursing staff were very nice and caring, although I think the nurses I was dealing with post op were agency nurses, they were very caring and great at their jobs. Overall, I wouldn't opt to use this hospital again.

Not as a patient but as a grandson of one. The people here are special. My grandmother passed away two years ago and her last two months of life were spent here. The care and love she was shown was to highest level of care and humanity possible. The nurses cared for her with the same love we could only hope to show her in her last days as family. I will forever be grateful for you for this. I can't express thanks in anyway fit for what you did for her and my family. When I saw four of you at her funeral, crying, I couldn't believe my eyes. I'm humbled by the work you do and the pain you see on a daily basis. You are truly heroes. Yes I recommend this place. It is in every sense of the word, supreme.

Very good experience. Had a consultant visit. The consultant was very good in discussing the whole issue in details. Staffs are in good manner. Has plenty of parking slots.

very poor ,kept hanging around all day from 9.00am to 5.00pm to be told cant do your procedure , little attention from nursing staff for the day, first question asked on arrival, do you have the cash shortfall from your health insurance policy,,its a business not a place of care,,,back to the Bons asap.

Far too casual in this place. Felt that they couldn't care less about you. Was given options for treatment on the day and told could come back for the others but then told when I did come back for the others that this wasn't possible. Yet my results letter states I turned down urgent care on the day which isn't true. Took over a wk to get test results and had to ring several times asking where they had gone to as my doctor never received them. Very difficult to get thru to anyone by phone and the receptionist I finally spoke to was rude. Totally shocked, my first time going private and expecting better care if I was paying for it. Better off going public, won't be using it again.

Great service but the car park is a joke the parking attendant gave me a ticket for the car never told me about the designated mater private spaces so came back to the car and it was clamped. Cost €125 to get unclamped found the attendant he’s just said not my problem

The mater private hospital is expensive. But from start to finish the waiting times from entering to A/E . There was no waiting times. Incredibly efficient . The nurse from Waterford who was coming in and out to me in A/E was a lovely wonderful lady . The doctor was good. But Professor Adrian Murphy, was direct , precise and just brilliant . No messing . Scans , blood within a ridiculous short time. Expensive but worth every single penny . Thank you to that team in A/E. Professor Murphy was professional and knew exactly what he was talking about but a very nice man as well very impressed. Thank you for your help when I needed it . Prompt efficient. A great service

I have been waiting one hour and a half to see the consultant in the Orthopedic unit. My appointment was at 3:00pm and it’s 4:30pm and still no sign that I would be seen any time soon. It’s outrageous that such an expensive private hospital can not honor the appointment times. I had to time time off work which it is very difficult to get. Very disappointed!

Getting an appointment was difficult! Apparently the online form is pointless as I never heard back so had to call in after waiting for a week. However, once I spoke to someone I received an appointment confirmation within a few days and had been booked in a week and a half later at my preferred time. Once at the hospital I was in for my MRI within 15 mins of arriving. Radiographer was lovely too. Bad first impression but was redeemed when I was at the hospital.

Very bad organization, scheduling and planning. I was supposed to get a procedure done, got the letter for the confirmed date but either the secretary or bookings decide to call me the same day of the procedure to confirm the time. Instead of contacting me either 1 or 2 days before...wasted my time for nothing. Thanks to this I've missed two days of work just waiting for a call to confirm the appointment time. Really unprofessional behavior that shouldn't happen, especially when I have tried to contact either the clinic or the surgeon for the past three days, with no responses from them. And that I had to wait... definitely will be writing a complain letter and talk to my lawyer about this.

Excellent care and attention both as out patient and in patient over past few days. Nothing negative to say about any aspect of the care I received. Staff were so attentive. It's never a good idea to single out people but in this instance I have to mention 2 exceptional nurses. Firstly, Padraig Denn the cardiac nurse in outpatients and also Gill Barrett in the critical care ward. Mater should be very proud of both of them. Also consultant was so attentive and easy to communicate with. Well done to all.πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Good attention and care, lots of waiting though First off - that'll be €150 please - regardless of your insurance, so expect that. So the attention and care I received was excellent from very obliging and friendly staff, both nurses and the doctor. I had a long day though, just to be scanned (MRI) and then waiting for those results to be reviewed. However, this was January 2018 when there was an epidemic of sicknesses about so it was a busy time for them. However, DO ask to be fed if you're not fasting as you can be forgotten about in that regard. I found out that my scans were normal but I was waiting on bloods so there was no point in starving (as it was 5:30pm and I had had nothing since breakfast). It's just tea and toast after all.

Tried to phone Mater private on 4 occasions. They have yet to actually answer any of my calls. My GP tried to phone Urgent Cardiac Care twice when I was with him. No answer. The place should be closed down and their charter revoked. Absolute disgrace.

I got my wisdom teeth removed today, and it was my first surgery ever. The staff were so amazing, especially Erica, Jean, Joxanna and Ciara! There were a few other nurses I didn’t get the names of who were also all amazing! Made me feel so at ease and comfortable. They frequently checked on me and made sure I was comfortable. Thank you to all the team that helped me today!

Since 2016, most of my complex care is supported by the excellent staff at the Mater Private in Cork. Everyone I've met is friendly and compassionate. It feels like a big family -- staff seem happy in general and that says a lot about the ethos in the organisation. I highly recommend them!

I had a medical test under general anesthesia on Friday 16th in the Mater Cork. Hours after discharge I started to suffer from terrible gastroenteritis symptoms. 5 days later I am still suffering from them. I phoned the Mater for advice on what to do or take and was told it was nothing to do with them. Even though they give you a number to phone if you are unwell after discharge. From what I have read tummy issues are not uncommon for a couple of days after a general anesthetic however they said it had nothing to do with the procedure. No advice for me. Appalling treatment. Zero follow up care.

Absolutely 1st class, couldn’t of felt more confident in the care and attention I received at A & E before being moved into the main Hospital, here the same high level of quality are and attention continued, not to mention the fantastic level of accommodation and catering and most importantly the high level of attention and professionalism. The Doctors, nurses and general staff made my stay as pleasant as I could ever imagine.

I think it's important to clarify that it's not really an emergency department. It's more of an outpatient clinic from what I observed. You'll need an appointment before they'll see you and even then they'll more than likely redirect to another facility.

10/10 experience in the Mater emergency department recently for a respiratory issue. From start to finish all staff were exceptional, particular mention to Maeve in nursing and Dr. Denys Shchetkovsky. Both so so thorough and detailed in explanation. A follow up call a few days later was unexpected but really appreciated. Won’t be looking any further than the mater going forward. Thank you.

Terrible service, CUH would have been a better option. Waiting 6 hrs for an X-ray and then nobody available to fit a boot. Quick to take the money but totally under staffed and a comolete lack of information. I have experienced the VHI Swift clinic in the past and they were brilliant but unfortunately they have restricted access to members only.

Had spinal surgery under Mr. Paul Kiely on 30th January and spent nearly three weeks in the hospital when the wound stubbornly refused to dry up. The care I received was second to none. Mr. Kiely, the nursing staff, the catering staff, the physiotherapists and the cleaning staff were excellent. Well done to all.

joke of the place, especially A&E this was third time when i rang today with a small problem and was refused help without even looking, but fair play to the nurse who told me that if i came ill be charged to see "specialist" which is expensive and then most probably sent to CUH.

Arrived at the emergency department after being told by my GP to go to the hospital, not knowing I had to ring ahead to make an appointment, but they still registered me after waiting a couple of minutes for very bad stomach pain which happened to be appendicitis. I had 2 surgeries done in Mater Private in the last 2 years, both on my right leg with the same surgeon and can recommend this place 100%. Highly skilled professionals who are doing a great job. Consiltation waiting time can be pretty long, but when it comes to surgery - the service is at the highest level. Massive thank you to Ward 1 stuff and Day Care unit stuff - very helpful and friendly, always there for you.

I was booked in for an L5 disc op with Professor O'Sullivan. Arrived on time and had the op on 22nd of July. All went well with surgery and was happy . The problems started next morning when I was told I was being discharged. I had been charged for a 4 night stay even though surgeon told me it was 1 night. When I emailed the hospital, they didnt even bother to reply. So I rang them to confirm how long I would be in. This was to make arrangements to be picked up. I was informed that as it was a serious surgery they would be keeping me in for 4 days. So agreed with them that I would be picked up on Sunday by my daughter who is travelling over from UK to look after me. This was agreed with Aoife McCarthy on the Friday prior to operation. Mater private hospital have now told me that I am discharged, when I explained that I had no way of going home until Sunday as that is what had been arranged earlier. I was then informed that I could stay in the room till Sunday and that I wouldnt be recieving any medical treatment. It seems that because I am a private patient who paid my own bill, Originally quoted €5500 all in but paid €7715 + €275 for covid test. The surgical and nursing staff have been fantastic but In my opinion admin is only looking to get you out asap to make more out of each room. I have spoken to my solicitor this morning and will be seeking further advice .

Booked for a 12 o clock appointment, but by half 2 i was still not admitted. I understand there is an issue with covid and staff etc but still it seemed to be extremely disorganised. Once admitted i was sent to ward 1 put in a room and informed someone would be with me. The time frame expressed was not fulfilled. I meet a doctor who said they were running laugh and said "you probably noticed yourself". Eventually a nurse came and took information, and blood pressure etc, She advised i wait till informed to change into hospital gown thus implying a further wait. I later meet another nurse who repeated blood pressure as the previous neglected to fill charts, and then brough to theatre. All the staff were pleasant and at this stage my issue was only the wait. The op was fine and i was brough to recovery. Here i met by a nurse who advised he would be taking care of me, which was minimal care before being advised i would be brouht upstairs, However i waited at least an hour for this to occur and during this period was generally ignored by this nurse, although i raised issue it seemed i was in the way and eventually i was brough to the ward by recovery staff who advised they would inform ward staff that i was there. This did not get communicated so i was an hour waiting for staff. To be honest as my room was near the desk i could hear staff were present. Eventually a staff nurse arrived and the care i received was great. My issue would be the lack of communication between the staff and the wait. The ward staff were lovely but i cannot say the same of the recovery ward
