๐Ÿ˜  8hrs in the waiting room, not even into ER. Elderly woman visibly shaking in the hard plastic chair beside me. No access to food or water, nothing. No information. Inhumane. I ended up in hospital 18/02/2022 @11pm with swollen infected toncels, couldnโ€™t swallow properly. Now, toncels due to be operated and high temp.not even a nurse or a doctor no one came up to be checked on me. Asked 5 times if someone could give me some painkillers as I had 39.6 temp. Nothing. At 3am 19/02/2022 my fiancรฉ had to rang them if they could give some painkillers to me as it was a joke at this stage. They gave paracetamol. From 3am until 1pm 19/02/2022 nothing had happened I slept in the waiting room not a doctor or a nurse came up to check if I was alright at least. My fiancรฉe ended up ringing CUH again and she was only got told that there is people before him waiting longer than him. I ended up getting than another paracetamol and @ 2pm 19/02/2022 I was ended up been checked by a doctor which given me antibiotics and painkillers and left go. 15 hrs waiting the person might as well die in this hospital to be treated faster. Absolute joke this place is.

I can understand that there is not emough doctor and because of that there's too long waiting lists. The staff is actually really nice. But I can't really understand how can the managers or whoever put so bad and uncomfortable chairs for the emergency patients. I look around and everyone is suffering here for 12-16 hours in horrible positions. They can't fall a sleep because theyre siting in horrible wood and plastic chairs. Bending on their own knees trying to rest. At midnight all lights are up and some machine is constantly beeping just to make sure noone can fall a sleep and to torture the sick patients.

If I could give 0 stars I would, I don't even know where to start explaining what a joke of an emergency department this is. You're waiting hours and hours and then when you ask a question you're getting the most rude and disrespectful answers a man can imagine. And I'm talking about doctors here not nurses or staff at the reception. Doctors who should be the most helpful and caring people on the planet. If your life depends on it just go somewhere else save yourself from this because here they treat you like rubbish.

I can honestly say the management of this department should be disgusted with themselves! My mother arrived today with a really bad infection and a lump on her stomach the size of a melon she arrived at 8am, saw a nurse at 3.30 pm then a doctor at 5pm who had no idea what was wrong with my mother and said she couldn't get a scan because that department was closed! Well that's hardly A&E is it. I feel as if she is being fobbed off! Or is the health service here doing a Boris and culling the old to protect the pension fund! Terrible state of affairs.

It has to be about the car parking charges. Nothing else can explain it. Also met a less than charming lady who couldnโ€™t quite understand why someone in accident and emergency was sitting in a wheelchair and insisted on removing said wheelchair even though I demonstrated to her that my wife couldnโ€™t walk. So couldnโ€™t take her to toilet and when she was called for her X-ray a porter had to be called, another half an hour spent waiting. Then when we were finally released I had to go and find yet another wheelchair to trundle her out to the car.

Friendly, calm atmosphere. I was treated and looked after very well. Yes, itโ€™s an emergency department and yes thereโ€™s waiting but at least I was being kept informed about the progress of the assessment. Tea and even dinner where offered during my 8hour stay. Considering the vast amount of different emergencies I felt always treated like a person, not a number. Well done CUH emergency department

I canโ€™t rate the level of care I received here highly enough. All the staff were friendly, supportive, caring and so helpful. I received amazing healthcare from the initial triage to testing, diagnosis, treatment and follow up plan. Everyone here does an amazing job, especially when you see first hand quite how busy this department is. Thank you.

Horrible. I went to emergency with my 7-month-old baby with suspected LRTI.. Our GP was referred with an emergency letter.. Still, we waited there for around 7 hours.. Nobody took any interest to talk to us at least... a Very bad system.. Never choose CUH for any emergency

PLEASE DO NOT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL. We went there because my boyfriend had an accident with his leg last night and could not walk. To begin with, the two guys at the entrance were very unfriendly. It gave us the feeling that they didn't care about the people inside, they just wanted to finish their job and go home. At first, we were told that my boyfriend should spend the night in the hospital as he should wait about 7 hours before being seen. We didn't have a car, but a friend who lives with us helped us get around. We left my boyfriend in the hospital and went home. After a while, my boyfriend called me again saying that he would not spend the night there (he was offered a chair to sleep on). We had to go back to the hospital and take my boyfriend. He told me that a nurse took a quick look at him and did not tell him anything, just gave him some useless pills. He was given NO SOLUTION for his leg pain and he was clearly suffering, unable to move on his own. During our stay there, we also met a patient who was waiting for hours and hours and who told us about her situation, also dissatisfied by the treatment of this hospital.

Really rude staff. I understand everyone is under pressure but the nurses and reception staff we had the misfortune of dealing with were awful and uncaring.

An absolutely disgrace of a hospital. Have been waiting for 5days with no resolve to an injured arm that has now got an infection. Total medical incompetence and extremely poor proffesional performance, will be reported to medical council and obdusman. 1.8 starts is more then you deserve and just speaks volume on your service, an utter disgrace, dont even deserve the name of A&E.

I wouldnt normally write reviews about a hospital, but i thought this was worth it. i needed an Xray, was in and out in twenty minutes, i kid you not. they just scanned it, then rang me later with the results, none of this triage or anything; very good i thought

please if you can avoid it don't go here, waited 10 hours for an xray on a collarbone injury which could have been LETHAL, was put through three different doctors who all said "everything's fine" yet they all refused to show me my xrays, my collarbone was clearly sticking out and causing me pain

I've spent little some time both as a patient and caregiver to kids and elderly parents. I can say the doctors and nurses do their best with very limited resources. I would hate to work in this environment under the pressure these people work under. I'm sure people have heard of and expierence better national healthcare services but that's not where we are at now in Ireland. Instead of downrating on Google maybe contact your TD and change the system. The day you see the staff in A and E is already a terrible day for you, but remember if you are abrupt and rude to staff they are hardly likely to go out of their way to help you.

My daughter was sent to this hospital by SouthDoc due to a red rash on part of her face which they suspected was cellulitis. After being admitted she was given paracetamol and told to wait for the doctor. As the hours passed and the infection spread she was told there was nothing wrong with her and that it was an insect bite.10 hrs later and no more pain relief or antibiotics she decided to discharge herself. Then she was seen by a doc who gave her weak antibiotics. I phoned to see how she was and the rudest person I have ever encountered ans the phone, a nurse in A&E who said there was nothing wrong with my daughter. Two hrs after being discharged I rang her doc and sent photos of her face, he put her on the strongest antibiotic straight away and said she had cellulitis. He also asked us to do covid test which ended up positive after her trip to A&E. THIS HOSPITAL esp A&E is an absolute DISGRACE.

Terrible hospital. Doctors don't seem to know or care what they are doing if you get to see one at all as there dont seem to be any walking around the A&E. Presented with agonising back back from a previous double break of my spine, had to waiting 6and half hours before i literally had to beg to be giving paracetamol!! Placed in the worlds most uncomfortable chair and left for hours with no one as much as asking how i was feeling and these people complain about their pay!!!! DISGRACEFUL!!!! Dont come here take you chances else where!
