This is my favourite bookshop in Cork city, possibly Cork county! They have a used and new bookshop and the prices on the books can’t be beat! Certainly better than Waterstones’ audacious prices! They have such great deals on all the time, like the 3 books for 12 euro deal. And they have a very cute “Blind Date with a Book” section in the new bookshop! The staff are also so nice and they’re very helpful. The guy with the beard even once offered my friend and I an umbrella for free as he saw we were about to walk out into the rain and insisted we take one as customers often leave them there anyway. Talk about above and beyond customer service!! We were chuffed and saved from the rain! It’s no wonder they’ve won the Bookstore of the Year award, Vibes and Scribes is honestly just the very best!

I don't shop new and the secondhand bookstore has added so much to the quality of my life!! Absolutely lovely staff especially Kerri who is so kind, smiling and lovely! I have been looking for a few books for a while now and thanks to her, I finally could get my hands on them!! You are a star Kerri! THANK YOU

The new book section is really good. I have had 2 not so nice experiences in the used book section because of a not so nice female member of staff. Very unfriendly and unwelcoming. Puts me off wanting to shop there

This score is for the second hand book stoke, and specifically the manga section. This store has more manga than the rest of the city combined comfortably, and I would hazard to guess maybe even twice as much. The pricing is superior to the competition, and there is a second hand manga section, which is yet more superior, if one can deal with the obvious required lack of quality control and consistent lineups. The staff are all nice, and I even attended a few meetups. I would strongly recommend.

Brilliant independent bookshop. Friendly staff always helpful with ordering in books they don't have in store. No better present than a book picked up in this bookshop.

I've just had a look in the second hand department and I was really pleased about it! There are a lot of books and I think the owner organized them perfectly because I've immediately found the type of book I like the most. It's a little bit pricey because I found the same books with cheaper prices, but that's okay. You can sell your books too. There are a lot of comics and they all are in good condition. There is also a LGBT+ department!

Always have to have a local bookshop to visit, but rarely do you get one so amazing as Vibes & Scribes. Excellent selection across both the used and new stores, fun puzzles and other gifts in the new, and they buy back books! What more could you ask for?

Well worth a look as they often stock good finds. Some of the staff think it's more about sales than the customer experience and are too flippant for my liking. Some of the staff are very sound. Few of the staff have much book knowledge.

Jacque is incredible. He’s been amazing with helping my brother from South Sudan curate a collection for the library at the school. No easy task but his patience and kindness have been amazing.

Great bookstore. There is lots of variety the books that you can get, and also a lot of good value, especially in the used bookstore. Helpful staff too

Customer service is very poor. Walked into second hand books yesterday and the man with a moustache gave no help whatsoever in helping me find books I was looking for. He told me to “go look in the fiction” section. It was the laziest, most unhelpful customer service. The other girl who normally works in second hand books is also very unhelpful and has a very unapproachable, unfriendly vibe. Makes you not want to go into the store. There are no more vibes in Vibes and Scribes. The people who work there make you want to leave before you even look.

one of my favorite bookshop on the island, They have one shop do all second-hand books, and the other one is all brand new and recently released books. If you are lucky, you can even get a signed book by the writer.

Not one but two great bookshops from Vibes & Scribes in Cork. A second hand book store and two doors down an excellent old style book shop unlike the limited, generic books that you find in the likes of Easons. But be warned ... experience is so good hours can be lost browsing! 😃

Excellent place where to buy books and gifts for reading lovers. I loved the labyrinth of book shelves, feeling lost until I found a bargain I was looking for: Gibbon' s " Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire".

Vibes and scribes is a brilliant bookshop. You can find really interesting things in there. The cards are also hilarious and the only genuinely funny cards I have come across. One complaint I do have is that they have stripped the shop of nearly all of the spiritual book section. I think this is terrible, there used to be so many books on celtic mythology, paganism, religion, spirituality, legends etc. Not anymore, which is a massive shame as that was my main reason for going.

Good selection of books, pricey considering they're 2nd hand. But look around for steal, you never know your luck. Worth a visit for the vibes I agree.

I love how it has two stores, books that are secondhand in one, new in the other. The staff are super knowledgeable and friendly. I got secondhand books that look like new to give as gifts. The prices were amazing. They have a huge range if books and the place anytime I go in is very busy. A good sign of a store.

Always great. Amazing selection of reasonably priced second hand books with a new book section next door. Can then pop over to Brdige St for all your arts and crafts needs. Staff always friendly and always so helpful with advice or when trying to find something. 5 stars all the way!

Best book shop in Cork City. Incredible value and polite, helpful staff. Cannot recommend it highly enough. Make sure to check out the second hand books section next door to the main shop.

Manga section was really good. Has the most manga selection out of all the bookshops in the city, I was really impressed. The prices were really good too. 100% would recommend, can’t wait to go again.

Great selection of books, okay prices. There are very few if any good second hand book stores around which makes this store so important. My first port of call when in the city.

Used book store has a great collection for all ages. However if you are looking for toddler level books they don't have it in the used book store. The new book store has them.

A lot of choice, there's a second hand shop alongside a shop with new books and some gift items and cards. Prices can be keen but not always. Staff are friendly and helpful. Definitely worth a visit if you're in cork city.

My favourite bookshop in the whole country. They have something for everyone and the staff are really helpful. I never leave without buying a few bits. Great prices.

😠 1 star because I can’t choose 0. This shop is a disgrace.
