Lovely place for a day out. The gardens and arboretum are very nicely done and cared for. The house itself is closed because of the pandemic. Lovely cafe just front of the Fota house as well. It might just be me but it was difficult to find the way to the house itself from the main entrance to the island, if you’re on a bike. The signage isn’t clear. There were no bike parking spaces either. Overall a great place for a picnic and a stroll!

Beautiful old house, restored the way it would have looked inside. It has beautiful artwork and furniture. There are even working servant’s bells! On our tour we were lucky enough to have a friend of the last residential family lead the tour, so she knew stories of the people who had lived there. It was a fascinating experience. Well worth it. There is a lovely gift shop and cafe at this place, too. Plus an occasional art showing.

Beautiful spot for a stroll in the arboretum with rare varieties of trees from around the world, some are over 60 years old. 3 euro to pay for parking - well worth it!!, cafe and house visit are also possible. Walled garden, fern garden, pollinator walk, glasshouses, squirrels, a lovely lake-pond, occasional outdoor events and toilets on site. Highly recommend it. 👌

Fabulous place to visit for a leisurely walk and to look at interesting plants. Great place for kids to wander and observe nature. There is a good cafe with excellent coffee and ample parking at the entrance gated.

An amazing place to rest and relax in nature. The only fee - 3 euro for parking. It is worth visiting at any time of the year, especially in spring and summer, when there are the most beautiful blooms. Huge Rhododendrons, Hydrangeas and Magnolias are impressive.

Beautiful house & gardens. Tour of the house worth taking as story of family who lived there up to its transfer into state hands very interesting and you get to see most of the important rooms in the house, not just a few. Rooms all furnished in original material and authentic to period paintings. I remember news items in the 1990's lamenting the fact that the house was in danger of falling into rack & ruin like so many other period houses so nice to see that it was eventually saved and renovated. Nice coffee shop/ restaurant. House guide was very good and interesting.

Really lovely place to visit with the kids. Lots of space for them to run around and lots of beautiful plants, trees and walled gardens to explore. The Victorian Walled Gardens deserve special mention. It is being restored and a good portion is a beautiful working garden. Well worth a visit. They also have an open air section where they sell plants they grow at Fota. A lovely treat!

We’ve visited the Fota wildlife park so many times over the years, but we’ve never ventured down to the house, until now. What a fantastic place to visited. We did the guided tour of the house and the guide was very knowledgeable. All the staff were friendly and answered any questions we had. I would highly recommend a visit, where a few hours will be well spent.

Visited the arboretum and gardens side, after we calculated that it'd have been >€80 for the party to visit the zoo/wild life park. It was a great time even with young kids!

Fota is a great place to take children to run and play and have fun The zoo is too expensive and you'd wish the animals were in the wild. Death would be preferable to being caged in.

Definitely recommend if you want something to do in the afternoon after touring the Blarney castle & gardens especially if you are traveling with kids. Our 5 year old LOVED the nature park. We arrived too late in the day to see the house but we walked around the beautiful park a bit.

Fabulous gardens, great conservation work being done here. A great day out, bring a picnic. Took the train from Cobh, hassle free. A bit of a walk though to the house and gardens, so beware of that

This place is a hidden gem for tourists. We went there during our trip to Cork and Cobh. Our initial plan was to get to Fota Tower, but it was on the other side of the rail that we couldn’t cross. We went there by train (Cork-Cobh) and had a stop at Fota station. Fota House is just 15 minutes walk from the station. It was like walking through the forest. We saw some little red Squirrels and tiny bunnies running to and from. We didn’t enter the house but explored the outside garden areas. A recommended place for a family picnic on a sunny day.

Delightful Period House with Cafe, inside and outdoor seating also a very nice shop, set in a good few acres of beautiful gardens with fabulous flowers, shrubs and ancient trees, all of this adjoining the famous wildlife park which has it's own stop on the Cork Kent Street to Cobh railway line 🚉

Visited Fota House & Gardens today and have to say it surpassed all expectations. Not only were the house and gardens overwhelming splendid, but the tour guide, and every single staff members were so very welcoming. They were brilliant and added to the entire experience. For someone who loves the regency period, I felt like I'd stepped right back in time. Loved it and recommend 100%.

We had a very informative guide and it was a really great place to visit. The gardens are also spectacular. They have a great cafe for lunch after the tour

The gardens at Fota are yet another hidden gem of Cork. They have a fabulous collection of enormous majestic trees from all over the world, which are hundreds of years old. If you love the colours and smells of spring, with large areas of open lawn for the kids and historic walled gardens to calm the mind, this is well worth a visit.

The house has nice big old rooms, kind of a palace. Gardens are beautiful and the arboretum is amazing with giant trees of several kinds. It is worth a period of walking there. Free entrance (does not include Zoo). You can go by train and for a few minutes to arrive there or by car is 3 euros to park, paid on exit.

Stunning gardens. A lovely walk and a cup of coffee to finish the afternoon.

The house tour was delightful, an hour or so very well spent. Our guide, Rose, was a mine of information and enriched her commentary with many anecdotes about the history of the house and its occupants, both above and below stairs. The extensive formal gardens are also a pleasure to explore. A highly recommended day out.

Beautiful house and gardens. I particularly liked the reconstructed working garden, the glass roofed building, the Irish brown bees, and the large sequoia trees in the arboretum.

This is a beautiful place to spend a few hours. Admission to the gardens and Arboretum is free, there is a €3 charge to exit the car park. The gardens are wonderful, packed with colour and scent, with many interesting climbers on the walls. The Arboretum is magnificent, with mature trees from all around the world. There is a cafe and toilets. Well worth a visit.
