In comparison to many hotels in Cotonou, Azalai Hotel can be rated as 3 or 4 star and it's located just by the ocean and has some beautiful sightings from the back of the hotel directly to the ocean. It's also located in one of the best places in the capital of the Benin Republic and have some small shop beside it where guest can work out and but some basic essentials. Azalai Hotel de la Plage is clean and tidy which I believed many will give priority to. In Cotonou, it is considered as one of the best.

Great location, beautiful surrounding atmosphere, lovely and great first impression of hotel. Everything about the hotel was exceptional. It was clean,good and great value for money . I was very pleased, I hope to be back for a longer visit in the future.

Rooms aren't worth the price!! We couldn't watch WORLD CUP!!!! Because they don't have cable TV, all channel were local. 😭 staff aren't so helpful,though they are polite in their unhelpfulness.The gym doesn't open on Sundays,the pool area is cool especially at night. No direct access to the beach front tho, also you have to pay 10000 naira extra to get a room with the ocean view,this wasn't included in their website. The area its located in is really cool tho.

Terrible service. Lots of confusion at the reception in order to find our reservation. They woke us up 3 times for mistakes they did on the computer. The hotel is by the beach but there is a lot of trash and people peeing on the sand as you look at the ocean view. I highly do not recommend this hotel.

Good rooms, regularly cleaned, with tv, sofa, tea and coffee (nescafé) offered. Just not too modern. The staff is very kind and available, professional. Loved the restaurant good meals specially the "red paste(wheat base)" and soups

Some small small insects are there in the washroom. No proper cleaning . Brand is big but toiletries are not enough. AC is Serious problem. And difficulty is they don't even bother to correct it. Since two day I am in this hotel but it's not comfortable. At the time of check in I saw internet problem so they shift me to another room . Here internet is good but AC is not good . They may correct it now but it took two days for then just to come and check it. Many other hotels are available in the city with good location and arrangements at much better price.

You would much rather be at the Golden Tulip Le Diplomat. The rooms at the Azalai are bare bones. There is hot water. The wifi does not work very well, I opted to work in the lobby as it was a better connection. The restaurant has decent food and fast service. The ATM in the lobby does not work, you have to go to the Société Génerale down the street. It’s just a meh quality.

Good hotel. Lovely pool, decent gym. It's got a spa too. It's nice and chilled. Near the airport. Staff are very good. Rooms could do with better air conditioning systems however it is still cold enough. Clean and all ok. Should review the prices of the room service though. Because there are ways around it

Aircon noisy and not sufficient. Bed mattress not comfortable. Pillows are terrible. Hotel needs in upgrade Reception staff unfriendly .Rooms facing the pool very noisy during the weekend

Great hotel, highly recommended, very well maintained and managed

I booked and paid for accommodation for a business trip weeks in advance. Then we followed up with mails and calls confirming payment, flight details, booking dates, arranging transfer from the airport (which is something they advertise as a free service) Upon arrival after 2 days travelling, the transfer was more than an hour late, got to the hotel and they insisted that I pay the full booking fee again, because they were unable to find/confirm payment. Took them more than an hour to sort themselves out. No concern for the client that has to sit and wait whilst witnessing this chaos. Person at reception had no idea what he was doing and still insisted on payment after showing him the proof of payment. 3 hours wasted after a tiring day purely due to incompetence. Their high rates and service certainly does not match up. I will look elsewhere for accommodation next time

I use the pool. The pool is wonderful and I enjoy swimming. However, there are issues. There are no pool hours posted and I recently had to wait for an hour and a half to get in the pool because they were cleaning until after noon. There needs to be specific pool hours posted. There are parades of people taking selfies on the pool deck who completely ruin the experience of swimming in peace. Edit: I come here almost every day and every day there are 10-20 people in groups of 2-4 having extended photo shoots. It is never one or two pictures. It is always repeatedly and for extensive periods of time. There is absolutely no atmosphere or relaxation because of this.

Only one positive point is the staff at the reception. The rest was purely a disaster. Expensive room to start with. Mine (a suite) was in a terrible shape: sand on the floor, mould all over the walls and the AC unit. My window didn’t close properly and there was a storm. Used bandaid found in the wardrobe. Obviously the bedsheets haven’t been changed and the cover on the of the bed was full of hair. The shower is in the corner of the bathroom with only one glass window so the water just floods the floor very quickly. This hotel needs a proper renovation and deep cleaning.

Well maintained property. Although it looks a bit old, maintenance looks thorough all over the property. Beach facing rooms are lovely. The pool is very nice and well maintained. The room I stayed felt like a bit conjusted. Stayed here on Sep 2021. Menu of the restaurant can be improved, food provided was very good. Certified by BV for safety and hygiene.

During my stay, i had the pleasure of meeting 4 efficient, pleasant front desk officers:- Gandice, Colombe, Israel, Fabrice. The highlight of my stay was the kind gesture the Manager Mr. Hidara extended my way, he(the hotel) even gave me a birthday cake! Overall I had a lovely time at the hotel(the view was beautiful, the rooms are kept neat, the hotel surroundings are kept neat), I would definitely stay here when next I am in Cotonou, and I would totally recommend to someone else.

The rooms do not have a good socket for charging devices,I am being asked to use my money to buy an adapter for this purpose.not good enough considering the amount paid for my room

Hotel Azalaï 🏨 is located close to the port and has some amazing views. Also, its interior is decorated with beautiful sculptures . Friendly Staff Neat environment Great food 🥘 Worth it

Beautiful hotel. 4 ⭐. But they lack basic commodities such as a BUSINESS CENTER for small errands and printing (especially for conferences)... Their water taps or handwashing devices are not automatic.

Staying a very long time is this hotel. Wi-Fi is connection is worse... Can't do any on line work. Very disappointed during stay. Food is also not upto mark. Varity of food is completely missing. Service needs to improve a lot. Didn't provide what was asked they always forgot. Some time food didn't served hot especially in room service. After ordering food it takes very long time to serve food almost a hour.

Entire place stinks of mould. Breakfast buffet was the same food from the dinner buffet the night before.

Nice place but not value for money

I didn't visit the rooms. But they have a lot of conference rooms. I appreciate the standard of those rooms.

Might be a good standard for Cotonou BUT do not expect to much of an international hotel standard. Cockroaches in the room and the breakfast restaurant. Sofa in the room had stains on it. Bathroom shower does not look inviting with the mold in it. Room cleanliness average. The interior of the hotel is dated and/or used and nothing renovated. Carpets of the room hallways are dirty. The only spots creating somewhat of an atmosphere are the lobby and the pool area. There is very unpleasant smell throughout the property Staff is friendly and polite. Breakfast quality medium. However, housekeeping is entering the room even the DND sign is displayed. You need to disinfect your hands when entering the hotel. Also they put a sign on your doorknob that the rooms has been disinfected. What about doing proper pest control in the rooms instead? 2-star (instead of 1-star rating) only to contribute to the hotel staff.
