Well worth the visit, beautiful views and quite eerie when you go inside. Very peaceful with small birds flying about. I got here via the West Kennet round trail, however there is limited road side parking nearby and it’s about a 15 to 20 min walk from the Avebury National trust car park.

early evening is a great time to take in the view of the prehistoric landscape, the path up is one of the best places to view the sunset and Silbury hill. Take a small torch to peeks in those secret nooks and crannies within the barrow.

Atmospheric neolithic burial site. Please respect the site. 2 fields to cross on a rough..ish path, one an uphill gentle climb,if you are disabled should be do..able. wonderful views of Silbury hill and surrounding north Wessex downs.

Beautiful countryside, and interesting sites to see. The walk to the site is easy passing some cattle with no problems. Parking in a layby on A4. Across the road is Silbury Hill, which is huge! Sadly, you cannot climb the hill. Be careful when parking and crossing as it's a busy, fast road.

Really great example of a long barrow, During the Romano-British period, a small coin hoard was buried in the side of the long barrow. The ruin attracted the interest of antiquarians in the 17th century, while archaeological excavation took place in 1859 and again in 1955–56, after which it underwent reconstruction. Now a scheduled monument and under the guardianship of English Heritage, it is classified as part of the "Stonehenge, Avebury and Associated Sites" UNESCO World Heritage Site and is open without charge to visitors all year round.

It's a mile and a half hike over from Avebury but you hardly notice the time go as you pass alongside Silbury Hill while going through some of the most picturesque Wiltshire countryside. You can enter and there are five chambers with the entrance facing east or north east so probably linked to sun rise on solstice or equinox.

Ancient burial site facing Silbury Hill. Interesting visit. NB: reaching it means crossing a small stream - sensible footwear (which may get wet) necessary!!!

Well worth stopping off and having a look at the barrow, which is about 10 mins from the main road. The field was quite waterlogged on our visit so robust shoes are a must. Amazing piece of history which is so well preserved.

Fascinating place to visit. Amazing views across the countryside. To think people lived and died here 5000 years ago is surreal. Limited parking close by. Free to visit.

Visited as the sun was starting to set, making it incredibly atmospheric. Parking available in a layby, then a 10 min walk along a grass path to reach the long barrow. Free to visit. Good views of Silbury Hill. You can also go inside. One of the largest, most impressive and most accessible Neolithic chambered tombs in Britain. Built in around 3650 BC, it was used for a short time as a burial chamber, nearly 50 people being buried here before the chambers were blocked. Part of the Avebury World Heritage Site.

A hidden treasure. Imagine stepping inside ancient history. That's exactly the opportunity this site offers. You can walk over, around, and even into this prehistoric site. But be prepared, it is quite a home uphill through actual grazing fields to get there. Watch where you step. It is also not as easily found as the other monolithic sites in the area. You cannot see it from the road and might miss it if you don't know what to look for. I will return to this gem of monolithic prehistory.

Enjoyed a delightful walk around long barrow. The history surrounding this area is truly amazing. It's well worth a visit to take in the surrounding area and associated historical sites.

Beautiful breezy day to visit. It was busy but not packed. A few neo-pagans inside the long-barrow itself, holding a chanting ceremony, which could put a few people off entering, but I'm sure as long as you're mutually respectful, it's a place for all. Personally, I love the views (including Silbury Hill close by) and the vibe, but it's not as impactful as Avebury or Stonehenge. With an upwards incline walk there, it's not accessible to disabled, unless you have terrain assistance. Good luck finding a parking space close by on busy days. Go early or late in the day.

Ancient monument Parking: Free parking is available in the lay-by signposted on the A4. How to Find it: There is a half mile walk uphill across farmland signposted from the lay-by to the barrow. Please note: There is an unguarded drop from the top of the barrow above the entrance.
