I've been wanting to visit Hitchcock for a while and I'm glad we finally did. There are lots of great trails to explore - the are rated as easy, moderate and difficult, but they're all relatively easy since there isn't much elevation gain or varied terrain. Even though there was a lot of cars, we didn't see that many people while we were hiking. There are so many trails that its easy to stay pretty far from others. I didn't do much research, so I didn't realize it cost $5 to visit, but since the attendant was there I was able to pay with my card.

The park entrance was recently remodelled. Has two lines and 4 payment boxes now. More parking was added. Has a clean restroom near the entry by the playground. Beautiful views! Some trails are easy, others are challenging..

This is an amazing GEM just north of Omaha. Steep hikes but also easy ones. The ridge trail is one of the most amazing views to behold. Camping is cheap. A top experience in the area.

Very cool park and hiking area! It was super windy the day we went but it was still a very nice hike. Would definitely visit again.

Park is beautiful mostly due to the ranger Chad, being very hard working, competent and professional. He is what makes camping so pleasant there. Camp hosts are always pleasant, friendly and inviting. Facilities are clean and well kept. Note: This is a review I really did not want to post for fear of having it inundated with campers since I frequent it so often, but upon further self reflection I just felt it would be wrong to not promote this campground for my own selfish reasons. I hope you all enjoy, don't forget to wave hi to the ranger when u see him.

Beautiful place to experience Loess Hills. There are different levels of hiking trails and even a handicapped accessible boardwalk that goes deep into the woods with picnic tables and a bench at the end. Be aware that it is very steep, so a motorized wheelchair or strong family members will be needed to get back to the parking area!!!

Great trails and facilities. One of our favorite local areas to hike. Lots of variability in trail difficulty and length. Something for everyone. Would certainly recommend a visit to Hitchcock if you are in the area and looking for an outdoor adventure.

We just love this place. We go here 6 or 8 times a year to relax and enjoy the sunsets. Don't tell anyone else and spoil our solitude. Ha hq

It is a well kept, quiet, family friendly even partially wheelchair accessible walk ways into Nature. There are easy to midle to hard hiking paths. Pets are welcome and all pet parents clean up after their pups. At the gate there is a playground for a last energy source. There are clean restrooms and water bottle fill up station. If you feel like it, after you climb a few steps, you have a nice lookout.

This is truly a magical park close to the metro but just far enough to not be too polluted with the city noise & lights. I have thoroughly enjoyed this park for many years - excellent trails & you will always have moments of tranquility & plenty of nature around you. They offer many classes and guided hikes - I like doing my own thing but every now and then will take a guided hike to learn more about birds or native plants. Friends have done the back country primitive camping & said they really enjoyed it. I have done evening guided hikes & was absolutely amazed by the night birds and sounds in the darkness you either don't pay attention to or can't hear if you're in the city. I purchased the pott co park pass in order to have access to all the parks in the county - whether I go or not I still feel good about contributing to the parks! This place offers such a magical experience to get in tune with nature and realign yourself from the stressors of the modern world, highly recommend.

A beautiful destination for a refreshing hike among the Loess Hills. Great place for exercise, photography, reflection, etc. Parking is available near the main building and the restrooms are open and available there even before the information desk is staffed for the day. The trails vary in difficulty and are labeled accordingly.

The best place to hike close to Omaha. We did the Legacy loop yesterday, but love Heritage trail as well. The daily rate is $5. Paid at the entrance. Cash only.

One of the most beautiful places in the Omaha/Council Bluffs area. We went at sunrise in October and it was one of the most incredible sights. Trails vary in difficulty, so anyone can come here! They have a little kids trail as well!

Excellent park for great views of the Loess Hills and hiking. Not all the trails are great if it is muddy, but there are many paved areas to walk and an elevated wooden walkway. Nice restrooms, nice covered areas with atleast one having a fireplace. I am not aware of a place to buy supplies or food here, but Crescent has a newer big Casey's gas station and several restaurants 5 miles away on a nice paved highway.

Hiked Westridge Trail during a heat advisory. I don't recommend this because there is limited cover. Had to sit and rest quite a bit. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about the trails. The best part is, The Visitor Center closes at 3:00. However, the restrooms and bottle filling station are open until 9:00 or 10:00 p.m. and it is air conditioned! Sat and rested here after our hike for 30 minutes to cool off before driving home. I would happily hike here again.

We had a great time camping here for the week. So many great (straight up and straight down) trails to check out. Had water and electric at site, dump nearby. Oddly, the nicest, biggest showers in a while! Gorgeous spot and only $20/night!

Stunning view. You will fall in love with nature in no time. I believe the best time to visit the place would be the fall. When all tress are green.

Nice place to go to clear your thoughts and get some fresh, clean air. It’s also an excellent spot to spend with nature, so I would recommend it if you are looking to escape the city

Hitchcock is a great place to hike. It has several trails. You can make it as easy or as hard of a hike as you want. I highly recommend checking it out.

What a lovely place. I have enjoyed the trails, birding, plant spotting and finding Shrek! This is his summer home away from the swamps.
