The zoo is one of our favorite places to go as a family. We always get a yearly membership since we frequent the park so much. What we do is we break our visits down into sections. Since the park is so huge it’s really difficult to cover the whole park and enjoy it at the same time if we do it all at once. This way we do a section we enjoy it we take our time and we have fun. The new sea lions exhibit is definitely our favorite. You completely feel engulfed in the experience and the escape once you enter the exhibit. My son loves to play with the sea lions through the looking glass window observation area. For me this is one of the best exhibits I’ve ever seen at any zoo. We always love to ride the train and the chairlift when they’re open. As a tip bring your own water bottle as things can be quite expensive and they can add it real fast otherwise. Overall, we enjoyed going to the zoo and watching our son engulf himself and all the exhibits.

The most incredible zoo meant for all ages. Free parking. $25 entrance fee for adults, kids two and under free. Beautiful and well kept. We went on a Saturday during peak hours and saw the Apes, Aquarium, the Jungle, creatures of the night. There is so much to enjoy here. Little nooks to get up close. Plenty of spots to sit down as you’re walking around.

I can easily see why they are overall one of the best zoos in the United States. From the time you enter until the time you leave the customer service is about a 9. If you're having a problem at the kiosk some will walk right over and help you. Most of the exhibits are indoors so you can't really complain about the heat unless you're just a miserable person. The food is definitely over price so make sure you bring a lunch. Make sure you read the signs on the way to the butterfly area it clearly States no strollers are allowed so a lot of people hold the lineup removing kids from the strollers. Just don't go with a bunch of lazy lobsters that want to sit down the whole trip because they do block the view of the kids trying to see the animals. If I lived in Omaha I would definitely have a zoo membership. I enjoyed my trip so I hope you enjoy yours

The Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha is arguably one of the top zoos in America. They have a large variety of animals and pavilions to house and showcase them. This includes an impressive aquarium, a desert dome, a rain forest, an insectarium, an education center, a monkey/ape house and a bunch of outdoor exhibits. I have camped here a few times with the Boy Scouts and they have taken good care of us. They even offer merit badge programs. You will need at least a full day to see the zoo and even that is not enough to see everything without rushing through it in the summer. If you enjoy animals, just go to the Omaha Zoo.

The zoo was really fun. We liked the animal exhibits, they were really big and the animals were mostly easy to find and seemed happy. We really liked the penguins, and the desert enclosure, the cave area was fun and we liked the vampire and fruit bats, including the very large fruit bats. Be aware that in the cave area there is a water pit with no barriers, it's extremely dangerous for a toddler. The lions were really cool, especially high up on their rock. I liked the beavers in the cave area, that's something you don't see in zoos a lot. The aquarium is very well done, we liked the sharks and sea turtle and touching the starfish. The tunnel is great. Only negatives is that most of the food places were closed, and the line going in was very disorganized. I think the line issue could actually be solved by getting a better bar code scanner, that part took so long. All in all it's a great zoo to visit!

As one of the best zoos in America, it did not disappoint! The Zoo includes a glass desert dome, with a cave and swamp underneath. There is also an indoor jungle section, butterfly encounter, and aquarium. The outdoor areas include an Asia and Africa section, as well as indoor viewing enclosures for during the winter. Zoo had all of the animals you’d expect to see - elephants, giraffes, sea lions, rhinos, hippos, and much, much more! We saw many animals we had never heard/seen before, which was very fun. Each area of the zoo was “themed” to fit the types of animals. Zoo is VERY family friendly and designed with kids in mind. Little “caves” and viewing areas just below the height of adults (& throughout the park!) make it very fun for children to engage with the zoo environments. We went in November, and it was a great experience with minimal crowds. Much of the zoo was indoors, so we could escape the cooler temperatures. Highly recommend going during the off-season!

Always love going here and one of the best things about Omaha, and a must-see if you're not from here! The desert dome is perfect to go in when it's beginning of Spring or in Fall time honestly due to it getting so hot. My boyfriend and I walked the whole zoo in about half a day, being able to enjoy everything and this was when it was still under construction, about mid March. He is from California and says he's likes this zoo way more than San Diego Zoo. We are currently planning to go back sometime, its great experience and exercise! Recently went with my nanny kids too and they always have a blast when going, mainly stayed in the area with the small 'town' , as they call it, popcorn was great and staff was friendly and quick. A must see is always the aquarium, I will never get over the amazing tunnel of ocean above my head, my nanny kids were happy to see turtles in there. Thanks for being a great zoo and I can't wait to take my kids someday here.

Super huge zoo! Took 6 hours to see most of it definitely a whole day kind of activity. I can't wait for more exhibits to open, sea lions should be there soon! Bring water and good hiking shoes! Quarters if you want to feed the fish which was a blast. My favorite would be the jellyfish exhibit.. there were so many different kinds Camaras dont come close to how majestical they truly are

For the price and the hype for "world top ranked zoo", I expected better. Water bowls in many enclosures were very murky, the size of enclosures seemed too small in certain areas (especially in the Desert Dome) and many of the animals looked way too depressed (especially the gorillas and tigers). The Desert Dome was the most disappointing. For such a large dome, the animals were in small enclosures wrapped with netting, and the interior design of the landscape in the dome was just underutilizing the size of the dome, which makes me wonder if the design of the dome just for flexing from the outside. I also definitely did not see 1000+ species of animals as advertised on websites, plus there were a lot of the same animals in different zones. Food options were also terrible for a top ranked zoo. I've visited many other zoos with less to no cost and still had better animal exhibits, much more species of animals, management, and food options (like the free St Louis Zoo, Smithsonian Zoo, Kansas City Zoo and Seattle's Woodland Zoo). Makes me wonder where the $25 per person money goes too.... Despite that, putting the status and price aside, I was still able to have a wonderful time at the zoo. The close experiences with the giraffe and elephant families were an unforgettable experience. Kinda bumped that the Forest Trial was closed during my visit, but the Lied Forest was my favorite exhibit, with an amazing replica of a tropical environment. The zoo can be fully explored within a day if you don't have kids with you and if you fully spend the opening hours in the zoo. I also recommend bringing your own food for lunch.

Often considered one of the best zoo's in the nation and rightly so. This zoo is absolutely top notch. The dessert dome and accompanied cave exhibit under ground are superb. Tons of animal exhibits and a pristine park. Plenty of family friendly restrooms and kid activities to keep the young ones, and parents happy. Every exhibit is a unique experience, don't expect to see it all in one day.

This is the best zoo experience I’ve ever had. You walk in to each of the sections and it’s like you’re in there with them! All the birds flying around, the monkeys, and otters, and many more are right there! Seeing gorillas in person for the first time was just wild. The aquarium was fun, and just as good as Ripleys. The night time area was the coolest. Walking around on these docks in the dark, hearing and seeing all these animals splashing and moving around you. To top it all off, we saw the tiger. Since we came in winter, we only got to see half the experience, but we will try to return again in summer to see everything!

We decided to visit the zoo with our son for the first time. He was in heaven! There was so much to do and he enjoyed every moment. We ended up getting their premium tickets with the free rides on the train and skyline, the entry into the sting-rays, etc. We got to feed the stingrays and rode the train. The train had a little bit of an issue with it's steamer while we were riding and they had to take a break for about 15-20 minutes in the middle of the ride, but aside from that everything went smoothly. We fed the giraffe, which was fun and new! One complaint we had was how the African grill commissary was set up. Everything was digital for ordering, which is fine, but the pick-up was insane. They had two lanes one I assume for things that were taking longer and another should have been for quick pick-ups like just a drink or some drinks and ice cream. It was unclear how you were supposed to line up so some people were lining up in the "quick" lane just waiting for their turn. I feel that it would have been more beneficial for someone to have been out there showing people how to line up or signs to make it more clear. Like, "Only line up here if you've received a text message that your order is ready for pick-up." as an example. My son's favorite was the Gorillas and Monkeys.

First time visitor, life long supporters! This zoo came highly recommended by the zoo visitor community and we can see why! It’s a massive zoo which could easily be spread out over 2 or 3 days, but we only had one and did our best. Staff was friendly, helpful and smiling. Exhibits were clean, engaging and unique. The wait times and lines were very long and very busy, but expected for such a highly ranked zoo. ( a local had commented they had never seen it as busy as it was today.) but it didn’t stop the fun we had even in the heat and humidity. The aquarium was second to the Atlanta Aquarium as far as entertainment goes, the tunnel was amazing and the selection of jellyfish overwhelming in the best way possible. We also enjoyed the train ride, knowledge of staff and interesting facts about the nightlands and swamp (including the reversal of night and day so the creatures are up on daylight time.) overall we’d rank this zoo 10/10 for a fantastic family experience. The only thing we’d recommend is updating a more inclusive food selection for people with gluten and dairy allergies!

I used to come here all the time and it has been about 5 years since I was last here. Normally, this place is 5/5 for me. However, with all of the construction inside the zoo and about 50% of the animals present, it’s a 3/5. You’ll find many exhibits are closed and some of the animals missing from the smaller buildings. It doesn’t help that the two food trucks and most of the restaurants were either closed and only sold drinks/chips. I went on a Friday afternoon. Admission prices should be less if they have less to offer the public. Basically a ghost town once you get inside. I recommend not coming here this year.

Amazing place to visit, we never have enough time to see everything, so the membership has helped, we've gone 4x in the last 10 months, and it paid for itself in the first 2 trips alone. Saved so much! There's never a dull moment! You could spend several hours here so strollers and coolers are a great thing to bring along, and encouraged too! On the weekdays are perfect bc it's not as busy, but the weekends can get a little crazy with the lines (I'd recommend prebuying tickets then, so you can skip the line).

My first trip & I loved the variety of animals & how close you could get to them!! However, at 160 acres they need many many more places to sit & rest, in the shade, spread around the zoo! I must admit, being able to bring in outside food & drink was a Godsend. They have so much to see & do within the zoo, other than just the animals!! A theater, rides that go through the zoo by train or in the air, feeding the giraffes, what appear to be an old decommissioned bush jeep & helicopter for the kids to play with that even make legit sounds & so much more! Price was reasonable for all that's available to you at $27 per adult. Gift shop of course & numerous concession stands I did not get to check out this first visit. Only other thing I'd like to see is more restrooms spaced out at better intervals. And since they currently allow outside food & beverage, more shaded places to eat would be nice. Overall, worth the trip & will definitely be returning!!

160 acres of animals, insects, habitats and more. A beautiful zoo with interactive areas where you can expirence the animals first hand. Most of the habitats are open air with plenty of space for the animals. The free bird museum and the butterfly building allow you to walk amongst the animals. Plenty of places to get food and sweet treats. Shows are put on regularly and there is a sky box ride that can quickly get you across the park. The animals are well taken care of. The place is spotless beside the goose poop 🦆 of course. Definitely one of my favorite zoos. Bring all your family and friends.

We loved our day at the zoo! It’s a long walk but totally worth it. The zoo is clean, organized and safe for visitors. The kids (and adults!) were entertained all day. We were impressed at how close we got to some of the animals, especially the tiger and the alligators. Pro tip: the dome has a basement! We missed the stairway the first time through!

You might as well just read the reviews and you’ve seen the whole zoo… no but really! Great place to visit the animals! The zoo was well priced across entry to different venues they had. Loved also how they had an indoor viewing area for maybe at least 50-70% of the park. If y’all ever wonder what an elephant sized cookie is, it’s a 12” pan cookie. Of course we got it 🙄

A truly wonderful zoo! You’ll enjoy the diversity of animals and keep in mind you’ll be doing a lot of walking! The aquarium with shark + sea turtle tunnel is a great rest out of the sun. Can buy food inside or bring your own. Really nice gift shop as well and great outing for couples or families. Don’t miss the giraffes (you can even feed them) or the monkeys in Lied Jungle. The gorilla center is top notch too.

We had an absolutely fantastic time here! There is some really cool exhibit design and very interesting species on display. I really liked walking through building with different biomes. I always like free-flying birds and there were some free-flying bats as well! In fact, there were more bat species on display here than any other zoo I've been to. Snakes are always of particular interest to me as someone who works with wildlife and has been working with snakes for 10 years. I was excited to see the Santa Catalina Island rattlesnake here! We all grinned ear to ear seeing beavers since they aren't common in zoos and listening to the staff sitting and feeding them talk about how they're cared for. Lots of arthropods are on display, including a butterfly house, and the aquarium was so fun to walk though too.

I went to the zoo with my girlfriend during the Christmas festival and had a great time. We enjoyed walking around looking at the Christmas lights and hearing Christmas music. We also got to go through the aquarium and kingdom of the night while we were there. The animals are very active at night! Very cool and only $23 to get in. We had a great time. Highly recommend.

Not too bad of a zoo provides a great chance for learning experiences. I would of giving it a 5 star rating for of the diversity of animals and buildings you can go into. But we paid for the golf cart behind the scenes tour. We weren't very impressed. The only nice this about the tour was we didn't have to walk in a 100° day. The behind the scenes part is literally an access road you drive on. We thought we would be shown some of the animals that you don't see out and about. Like there sleeping quarters and everything (while being behind a fence for safety). I wouldn't recommend the behind the scenes to anyone you still have to do quite a bit of walking. And can basically see the whole behind the scenes for the same price as the train ride (probably see more animals than it).

What a zoo experience! Loved it! Some pointers. I would recommend parking on the north side and arriving at open 9 am. Once the park is super busy around lunchtime, it’s really packed, and lines are nuts. The train is a fun experience for the kids and catching a breather, sitting for a bit after walking miles (we asked about 5); the train doesn’t give many great views for animals, so mostly just an experience. They had lift chairs we didn’t try, but we’re told it is a better option to see animals in the zoo on the African side. My wife and kids LOVED feeding the stingrays and would do that every time we visit.

One of the best zoos I've been too. It's huge! 2 days worth! Trust me! Well worth it! Came from Minnesota just to go to the zoo with my wife and I. Appropriate for all ages even if you don't have kids! Lots to see, do, ans so many many animals! The dome has underground levels that you walk through that has even more animals! We went in the winter. Some African animal were put away but still viewable. Even in the winter still lots to do because alot of the animals and activities were indoors. If Going in the winter, buying tickets ahead of time not necessary.

Definitely one of the largest zoos in the country. There's a lot to see. So with that said, there's a lot of walking. It's been over 15 years since I've visit. The layout looks so different.

I've been to major zoos in about every state. This zoo had a lot of things that impressed me. The dog kennel specifically, sky ride, and train. We came on a very hot day, traveling with our husky which we were planning to leave at a local doggy daycare until we found out that they had free dog kennels that were first come, first serve. We called guest services and found out that they had openings. A security guard saw us get out of our car with our dog and offered to drive us up to guest services where the kennels are. It was quite a hike so THANK YOU BRIAN!!! Signing our dog into the kennels was pretty easy and they were all still available at 10am. They assured me that they would check on him multiple times. After leaving guest services we booked a time for the IMAX movie. We saw the film about Antarctica which was very beautiful and informative. Desert dome was cool but we were in a queue that moved quite slowly throughout. If I were to give you any advice, it would be to go straight to see the outdoor animals. By the time we got to them in the middle of the day they were almost all hiding from the heat so we didn't see much of the cheetahs and didn't see any elephants at all. My least favorite exhibit was the Kingdoms of Night. The terrariums with the nocturnal animals were so poorly lit with dark blue light that I couldn't make anything out. Wish they would've used red light but there might be species-specific indications that I'm not aware of. My favorite exhibit was the Lied Indoor Jungle. Plenty of wildlife and such a beautiful setup. The stingray touch center was also pretty amazing. If you're only going for a day, I'd advise watching some YouTube videos about the exhibits so that you can prioritize what you want to do/see. We took full advantage of the train to get to the other side of the zoo but it was still a lot of walking. Just be prepared. We would've taken the tram as well but the wait was pretty long. As I said earlier it was really hot when we went but they have a lot of indoor exhibits so you can escape the heat and there are a few misters on the walking path to keep you cool as you're walking outside. They have a lot of animals but not many rare species/breeding projects. It's cool that it's one of the biggest zoological parks in the US but accessibility could still be better. Maybe if they increased the number of trams that would help. I love to walk but I often felt like I was mindlessly walking to the next exhibit. On the trains/trams the staff give more of a guided tour so you know more about the history of the area you're passing through. Overall, not my favorite zoo but they've got a lot of redeeming qualities. Their staff is pretty amazing!

Everyone said you have to check out world class zoo here in Omaha. The experience was good. But when you hyped up about the zoo, you will compare to DC Smithsonian or St. Louis Zoo. I think those are a bit better. So not to take away from the hard working people at the zoo. They offer various sights for animals. But because the was so hot most outdoor animals were not so active. The combining of aquarium and zoo together was a good idea. This is a whole day event for family. As we walked in, there’s no security checking any bags , so you can bring everything into the zoo. Restrooms were in need of improving. The smell of restrooms are ever present around the area. And additional fee apply for feeding giraffes, riding skylift over safari sections and other activities. If you come in early , recommend going to south entrance(main entrance). There were a lot of parking and all free.

Very nice, this zoo is by far the best in the country. Caretakers are nice and very helpful and the shows and exhibits are something you need to see for yourself. My personal favorite exhibit is the Cheetahs, although the Asian Highlands are a close second. The Desert Dome is the main staple, (as it can be seen throughout the city). Overall I would highly recommend visiting to anyone willing to check it out.

The zoo is fantastic. We've been to many zoos throughout the US and abroad, this one ranks up there with the best ones. The grounds are massive and covering all the exhibits in one day would be challenging. Especially if you have kids with you, then forget about it and just enjoy what you can get to. The elephant wing and grounds are really good and seeing the babies there was incredible. The steam train was also really fun and a must do. The gorilla pavilion is really cool and well put together. I'm not a big fan of looking at the gorillas because you can clearly see the sadness and sorrow in their eyes... It's sad to see them in captivity.

Our first visit to the zoo and Nebraska- we enjoyed both! Loved that the zoo allowed coolers in the park especially having two young kids! The grounds were well kept and the animals seemed healthy. We loved the various places to sit, it was hot in the sun, as well as the carousel. The place, where there was like a small town/food court was basically closed so that was a bummer but otherwise highly recommend, especially if you have toddlers.

Great zoo and aquarium. Pretty busy on a summer Sunday, but that's to be expected. Despite it being busy, we didn't feel like the crowd impeded our enjoyment of this rather large zoo, except for a small wait when we took a break for refreshments. Plenty of opportunities for both outdoor and indoor exhibits which was wonderful on a hot, sunny day. They also had plenty of "cooling" stations whereby you can get a refreshing mist of water (the children at the zoo seemed to particularly like these 😂) and several fun exhibits geared to the children (play space, splash pad, and train ride) although we did not partake in those since we did not have children with us but they appeared to be popular with those who did. The grounds were beautiful and overall it was laid out well for visitors. We would definitely go again if we are ever in Omaha again.

Best Zoo, hands down, that we have been to. Everything is spaced out well. You will definitely get your steps in! The day we went, we got to see almost everything. Missed out on the lions and tigers, but got to see favorites like the giraffes and elephants! We spent about 3 hours there. Food establishments were all open, and service everywhere was great. The only problem we had was that there could be more signage as we lost our way a couple of times.

Fair price for the experience you get! My favorite exhibits were the Lied Jungle and Desert Dome exhibits. They were immersive and super cool to experience. So many species at this zoo. Could definitely spend a whole day here. I was limited to 4 hours and we made it work.

It is one of the largest and we'll maintained zoos in the US . ofcourse that makes it the largest attraction in Omaha. A great place to spend time with family especially if you have kids. The aquarium is the best places for kids to enjoy the animal exhibits. Ensure you eat food and get a popcorn before you start navigating. This will ensure you can munch whole moving from a section to the other. Take the later slot of the theatre movies as the theatre is right by the main entrance and you can finish the movie and simply leave.

Wonderful experience! They have a great collection of animals, birds, insects, butterflies. Aquarium is amazing. Watching giraffes, lion, elephants, zebra, fishes, lizards, chimpanzee etc made our day. Its dome gave us a complete feel of desert. Highly recommend to visit if you are in Omaha. Take a complete tour of zoo. Worth spending your whole day. Educational and entertaining!!

Fantastic Zoo you can spend all day in walking around. Animals are kept in great shape and they were taking whatever precautions to remain open admist the CoVID-19 pandemic. I would recommend planning to bring some snacks and beverages since most food stands are closed at this time. Great Zoo had a great time, will be back in the future.

I spend so much time at our amazing zoo giving my money to help many animals and grow the zoo! I hope someday we could beat the heck out of San Diego's Zoo since we got so much land and can make it look newer every time! Next to it doesn't count is Animal Kingdom in Disney but I'm sure we'll do a heck of an amazing job giving animal a place in need! I'm always excited to be back everytime I drive out from the west side of the state! Keep it up staff on making it more amazing!

It was a pretty amazing zoo that had many unique qualities. It was very busy the day I went which lends itself to how popular this place is. I give 4 stars instead of 5 because frankly 1/3 of the zoo wasn't even open because it was under construction. For the full price of a spring ticket ($21/adult) I think that should be taken into account. Parking is free which is also nice and its a big lot for plenty of room to park. Otherwise it was a nicely spent afternoon, albeit the crowds were a lot. I do recommend a stop by if you are in town, although you'll to allot some time, even with those areas closed I still spent nearly 5 hours there and I travel alone in my 20s.

The Omaha zoo redefines the term “zoo” by dedicating resources to saving and protecting species around the world. Each guest through the gate means another conservation story continues, and all 130-acres means families run wild so animals across the globe can run free. Outside of a world-renowned conservation program, Omaha’s Zoo offers a variety of travel-worthy experiences. Walk through the world’s largest indoor desert and the largest indoor rainforest in North America. Explore exotic locations and underground caves to see thousands of animals from across the globe in their natural habitat. With more than 7 acres of indoor exhibits, Omaha’s Zoo is a year-round must-do.

Amazing experience. We got there at 9 am and didn't leave until almost 4pm... the place is huge with fantastic interactive exhibits and so much ground to cover. We had a great time but especially loved the butterfly 🦋 palace and the aquarium!

The exhibits at Henry Doorly Zoo are absolutely amazing. There are species here that you won’t see many other places, and there is enough to do to last more than one day. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly, and the behind the scenes experiences are well worth the money. I can certainly see why this is rated one of the best zoos in the county.

So they have very few concessions open forcing everyone to one….maybe Covid related but still a pain. Thus the lines are long. Upwards of 40 minutes to get a water and a sprite. I did have a good time though.

Quick trip north to make a first visit.. Had always heard great things about HD and they were all verified on this visit. Fantastic zoo. Lots of very cool, expansive exhibits. Tons of varied animal species. Easy to kill an entire day roaming the grounds. Will definitely be back for another round.

This zoo was incredible! Really, really wish we lived closer! We went on a weekday. The crowds were manageable. The downside was that the train & skybuckets were closed. I wish this had been posted somewhere. The sign for the train said you could get a round trip ticket from the station near the sea lions. The station was closed. So I'm not sure why they didn't just have a sign posted saying the train was closed. The Kingdoms of the Night area was super cool!!!! There was one section with two pools of water with fish that were floor level and completely uncovered. I'm not sure why these weren't roped off. The room is dark. It seems very easy for a child to walk into the water. Loved the Sea Lion area. There were lots of little areas to pop in and out of to get different views. And the wall underwater was so cool! We came back in the evening for the Halloween thing. It was fun. But not worth the cost. The best part was walking through the Kingdoms of the Night and them having the lights on in the room with the alligators and beavers.

This place is amazing! There are so many things to do and see. It's great for families and for people who love animals. There are a ton of cute critters here. You can feed fish, look at sharks, walk through a butterfly house, and much much more. Stop by if you can!

Lovely zoo. There's so much to see here. I had an amazing experience and I only saw less than half of what was there. We were doing a cross country drive and stopped to see it so we didn't have much time and it was also an extremely hot summer day. But I'll definitely revisit and it's a must see if you are anywhere near the vicinity. I love how much wide open space the animals have and they look well taken care of. The photos do not do it justice. Just go!

I now understand why they call this the best zoo in the world. I have never been to a cooler zoo, and I've been to a lot of zoos. Personally my favorite attraction was the kingdoms of the night. It is underneath the desert dome which is very unique. We went when it was colder in October and a lot of the food shops were closed towards the back. So I would plan on bringing a snack. If there is a zoo that is a must see, this is definitely one of them.

Awesome experience!!! Lot of animals and well organized path, Got library pass from omaha library which is free for two adults & upto 6 kids, show library card with it you are free to visit free parking, lot of parking space. Need to spend the whole day there so plan accordingly, open by 10 and most of the section closes by 3-4 pm. Only during weekends the tram and other attractions will bw open I went on friday on Christmas eve so not a lot of crowd. missed asian animals section , planning to cover it during summer Exciting place for kids and adults as well.

We were visiting from out of town and bought tickets for a day when the temp dropped to 9 degrees and it snowed. We decided to just go do the inside attractions instead of losing the whole day, and we are super happy we did! The jungle, insect house, desert dome, aquarium, and cave/swamp exhibits are all amazing, especially when there were virtually no other people there with us. I’ve heard this is one of the best zoos in the country, and from my very limited experience, I’m inclined to agree!

Really enjoyed this zoo. Went on a Monday and it was really busy, lots of field trips. Only issue with that was only 1 food place was open in the entire zoo, that was at the Aquarium. The collection of animals was amazing and they are all well cared for. That much is obvious. Just wish the graphics were better. They quite frankly suck. Some of the graphics are just labels on glass. Zero information. The other graphics just give a picture and the name. It could be way better. The few docents we saw did a very good job managing crowds and giving out information. There was a lot of construction and building closed (due to avian influenza). I look forward to going again and seeing everything open! Overall it was a great time!

One of the best zoos I’ve ever been to. It’s amazing how close you can get to these animals especially in the gorilla exhibit. It was amazing to see the animals out and about. They are much more active than other zoos. The one downside was that some parts of the zoo were closed so you couldn’t cut through many places and had to completely backtrack to move through. Also, many animals from the Sahara exhibit were not outside. I didn’t get to see any giraffes or zebras.

Really fun zoo! Very big! Lots of exhibits and things to see. Unfortunately a lot of construction so not everything was open! The animals are pretty cool and close to the areas you can see. A fun time for families! We went on a week day which was way better!

Hyped and some very unique exhibits. Can do better on the outdoor exhibits. Underground caves and desert domes were very cool and unique. Bring food as getting food on a crowded day is challenging to say the least. Visit on a less hot day too and be prepared to walk about 4-5 miles to cover the majority of the zoo. Staff are nowhere to be found and directions are not that good. Overall a good place to visit with kids if you live in Iowa/NE - within 1-2 hrs of driving.

The zoo is pretty immersive and gives such a great perspective of the animals. Went on a Friday and there were many school field trips making a lot of the areas a little overwhelming. Very crowded. Really impressed with the training sessions for the seals, sea lions, and the tiger. Such a great experience. The gorillas are also pretty fun to see as they get very close to the glass and stare at folks.

We arrived at 11. The park is open from 10AM-5PM, paid extra to do all the rides. It was worth the money than paying for each ride. The penguins/aquarium is my favorite. The animals look content. They didn’t have a sick animal (like the tiger I saw in St. Louis) in their dwelling when we visited which is nice. It’s good to know that they’re healthy. I enjoyed riding the lift. Just wish they had better food options but understandably, we’re all still Covid cautious. Also, no way to get to all parts of the zoo in 1 day. So even if we showed up right as it opened and rode all the rides to get to our destinations quicker, we still would not have been able to finish it in one day. We missed the avian sanctuary and the Asian section. I don’t know if I would pay another entrance fee the next day to cover what we missed. I give it 4.5 stars ⭐️

This zoo is the best we’ve ever been to! It is well kept, the animals are happy and well taken care of, and there are so many beautiful species. We were able to feed giraffes (which was the highlight of our day). The sea lion show was also spectacular! The only reason it didn’t get 5 stars is because they have very few options for food & drink. We spent 2 hours standing in line just to get a water bottle!! You MUST bring your own food & drinks or else you will regret it. The vendors were almost all closed, and everyone was waiting in the same line.

I haven't been to a lot of zoos, but this is the best one I can remember. The animals and displays of course are great. Highlights include feeding giraffes, touching stingrays, interacting with primates, the aquarium and watching swimming seals through glass. Ride options are also fun. We were able to ride the train and the chair lift. One piece of advice: I wouldn't use the train as transportation around the zoo. Waits are too long. I'd use it more just as a sightseeing loop, returning where you started. The trams seem to be better for that. All rides are for an additional fee.

Amazing zoo. Huge zoo! Like you need two days to explore it all (unless you don’t have kids and just want to push through a whole day). Love all the modes of transport they have: Tram, Train and Sky Safari. The Desert Dome was amazing, and please do not ignore the downstairs entrance to the Kingdoms of the Night area in, I had gotten ahead of my family and while waiting for them I called out to two different families who were just walking past it to direct them downstairs. The signage wasn’t fully grabbing their attention I guess. Zoo Admission is worth the visit for this entire Dome experience. Aside from the dome, gorillas were impressive as well. The aquarium was surprisingly lengthy, loved that! For people visiting out of state like us, I might suggest going in the fall or spring when it’s less hot and humid, I didn’t expect Nebraska weather to remind me so much of Texas. They do have a epic decorated Splash Pad, so there’s some relief there, as well as several misting stations located along the paths! Seriously Omaha is deserving to be on the Olympic Podium of Zoos right up there with San Diego, and Fort Worth.

I took my daughter to the zoo on a Thursday. We got there at like 930ish but it was already getting busy though we didn't have any trouble getting tickets from the automated dispenser. It was like $35 per person which is not too bad overall. We spent over 5 hours exploring the park. Their aquarium is fantastic with a walkthrough underwater tunnel. The desert dome is enormous with everything so close you can almost touch it. The amount of space and the extent of the habitats is amazing compared to other zoos we have been to. It's pretty easy to see why it is the number 1 rated zoo in the states right now. There is a ton of walking but most of the time it doesn't really seem noticeable. Overall, this was a fantastic way to spend a good portion of our day and we created memories that we will never forget. I highly recommend going here to see the huge variety of animals and just seeing some animals in a really good environment that you may not ever be able to see otherwise.

Went to the Omaha Zoo on a Sunday and had no trouble finding parking, entering into the park, and walking around. There was quite a bit of traffic in the Desert Dome, I assume since it is one of the first things you see upon entering. The zoo is beautiful, has detailed exhibits, fun ways to interact with the animals, and a lot to explore. I definitely recommend for all ages!

This is an amazing zoo.I have been to quite a few zoo's around the US as that is what me and my wife do every anniversary, we visit a zoo or aquarium in a different state each year. I have to say you can spend two days here, the Desert Dome is awesome, and while on the sky safari I gave my wife a new wedding ring set. It was breathtaking. Thank you Omaha Zoo

The Lied Jungle is probably the coolest area. Be sure to check it out early as it closes at 4 pm. The desert dome is cool, but a very minimal number of animals are actually there. They built a desert inside to make it look authentic. I'd say that's what makes omaha zoo so unique. It's not actually that big, and they don't have a ton of animals, but they did a good job of recreating different environments in which the animals would live. The aquarium is okay. Part of it was closed when we were there, so we didn't get to experience the whole thing. The train is cool, but you can't really see any of the animals while riding it because of all the brush overgrowth. You do have to pay extra for the train ride. The Sea Lion training was neat, but be sure to get there early. The seats fill up fast.

Having been to a zoo in every area we travel this is not the #1 zoo. It's not a must see. It is clean. So many exhibits were closed and there is a lot of walking. The walk is not so bad but there are so many opportunities for improvement. It's boring walking between each exhibit. Other zoos have learning stations or interactive things, on your way to see tiggers step in the paw prints or after visiting the money's there should be money bars to keep kids engaged. After walking all the way to the next exhibit to find it closed was disheartening. I will say the aquarium was nice cool and lots of fish to see. The penguin exhibit was over crowded and we had to skip that part it would have been nice if you could go around instead of past or in front of people lined against the wall with strollers or waiting to grab a seat. The lady in front of us in a wheelchair just trying to bypass had difficulty getting through. If you travel save the ticket $$ and go to Cincinnati zoo.

Awwwwwwwsome! Now I know why this place is known as the best zoo in the entire country!! I stopped by a little later in the day, so I only got to see maybe only a fourth of the entire zoo and that was enough to make me want to come back for a special trip (we live in Idaho). This is NOT your average zoo! It’s more like a giant family playground with many cool animals in it. It is highly interactive and you’re free to climb into most of the water features!! See a stream? Don’t just look at it…get in it!!! See a water fountain? Don’t just take pictures in front of it…get in it!!! We were here for only an hour or so, but we all had a blast!! …. Even though it rained! This is truly the best zoo in the country and I have no doubt about it. So forget about Omaha’s over-glorified steaks! THIS ZOO IS WHAT PUT OMAHA ON MY MAP. Tons of fun for old n young! Omaha is only 17 hours from Idaho so get going!! … and tell Mr. Buffet I said hi.

This zoo has so much to offer! I take my 18 month-old a few times a month. There are a lot of toddler friendly exhibits around the zoo. The kid zone has a goat petting zoo, tree top village, and water playing areas. Last time we went, one of the staff members made it possible for my daughter to see some of the birds up close. I recommend a membership if you visit the zoo three or more times a year. The aquarium is the highlight of our trip almost every time we go! The baby giraffe and baby elephants are always exciting to see. On most days there are staff members/volunteers next to some of the exhibits to give you more information about the animals (names, ages, additional facts). I highly recommend this zoo to anyone.

Absolutely beautiful zoo. Plenty of walking area. Even though it was a rainy day they were misters that are probably amazing in the summer for those hot days. My boyfriend told me they also have splash pads they open in the summer. They were also accommodating for the cold, all the animals were still in viewing areas just brought inside which I’ve never seen at a zoo. Not to mention the aquarium and butterfly garden. Both out of this world some of the best exhibits I’ve ever seen

We always have fun when we go to the Henry Doorly Zoo. We've been multiple times over the past two years and there's always something new to see. This year they have a new sea lion exhibit. The best part is that we have a membership so we can go as many times as we want. During colder weather, there are plenty of indoor areas to explore. Lots of fun.

Awesome and what an amazing experience it was. No wonder they got the best zoo award once. Parking: Better to reach early at least half hour before opening as it tends to get crowded and you would have hard luck finding parking there. We visited on weekend both Sat and Sun and it was pretty crowded. Not sure about the weekdays. Food: We took our own food inside as a lot of people did. The zoo is huge and better to carry your own food and water. I think there are two cafeterias where they sell eateries. Kids: Infants won't have anything to do in the zoo. Toddlers would love it and so do small kids. Huge park for kids with a lot to play and also a small water park kind of section where they could just bathe and chill. Teenage onwards can enjoy what adults would. Two days is definitely the least you would need to explore the zoo. Anything less and you would miss sections.

This place deserves the title of best and biggest zoo in the world! The path is super straight forward making a logical loop around the park. Wasn’t too crowded. The Omaha zoo has taken a lot of precautions to keep visitors safe during the pandemic. Hand sanitizer stations are every and signs reminding people of proper social distancing are everywhere else. COVID aside, the Omaha zoo has gone to great lengths in recent years years to really enhance the animals' and visitors' experience. The exhibits really immerse visitors in the region of the world they represent.

Best zoo I've ever visited. There's tons of really interesting displays unlike I've seen elsewhere that transports you to the environment the animals live (e.g. an actual indoor jungle, indoor desert, etc.). Even with so much, it doesn't feel like a huge place to have to walk around. All of the best buildings are close to the entrance and there's plenty of fun modes of transportation to get to the back of the zoo like the train or sky tram. I can't wait to try one of the events where you can spend the night at the zoo. Whoever is in charge really operates it like an attraction more than a series of buildings with cages for animals. It's really fantastic and I hope other zoos take note. My kiddos are really lucky to grown up near Omaha.

Mind-blowing!!! The experience was out of this world amazing. I have never seen a zoo run so well and so taken care of. Being from out of town (Wisconsin) it was just something to do while in Omaha, NE and I was not at all disappointed. It is a zoo like non-other. Words cannot describe how awesome and animal friendly that zoo is without actually going and seeing the exhibits they have there. Out of all the zoos I have been to (about 5-6), this zoo is definitely at the top spot in my opinion. Puts you in shock and awe when you see it. Parking is free. Tickets are reasonable. The structure of the zoo and its layout are one of a kind and it creates a very specific and easy to follow loop that guides you through the exhibits and regions of the world. One thing I will say is, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE TIME, this zoo is very big and breathtaking (literally) and takes a while to get through in order to be able to experience it all.

BEST zoo that I have ever been to. I grew up here and even when I have moved away I come back almost every year to visit. The park is always so clean and each year they add something new. I love experiencing this exciting place with my friends and family. I will recommend this park to my closest friends and family.

What was open was great, but nothing really explained what was open or closed. No maps or notice boards with closure info etc. Very limited food options, suggest just bringing your own. Indoor exhibits are great for the cold days, most outside stuff was empty. All the bathrooms were very clean. Still a great value and the kids loved it. Will come again...when it's warmer.

Best zoo in the world. I pay over $200 for a zoo pass every year, to let my husband, two friends and I enjoy a day at the zoo occasionally. It has never failed to pay for itself with all the memories I make visiting here. And with the new Sea Lion beach? I could enter the North Gate, go straight there an leave. Never feeling it a wasted trip with the beauty and playful little sea lions. Someday I'll enjoy the restaurants in that area... But Covid :(.

  • 5/5 Megan F. 3 years ago on Google
We only went to the aquarium and the dome but it was the perfect amount of people in the enclosed areas.. not too many people was great and I appreciated the zoo still requiring reservations because of COVID. The only negative was the lack of information on what was open and what wasn’t.

We were very excited to visit, but found many outdoor exhibits closed/limited (COVID and seasonal) or under construction. However, the Desert Dome and aquarium, among many other indoor exhibits, were both open and made to be very unique attractions worth the visit. Given the current situation and timing of our visit, we were surprised at how large the crowd was when we arrived at opening. The check-in and screening process was very efficient and we were through the gate within about 5 minutes of arriving. We want to visit again with our children once things begin to normalize.

I am writing this today to inform you of our terrible experience on Wednesday at the facility. We have been members of Henry Doorly Zoo for many years, and have loved bringing our children making wonderful memories. On Wednesday afternoon, multiple members of the staff took it upon themselves to harass us about our masks. We were ganged up on by these members of the staff at once due to their opinion of our masks not being worn “high enough” on our faces. Having witnessed many other guests not wearing their masks up over their noses (or “high enough” as the staff described it), this made us feel very singled out, uncomfortable, and embarrassed. As active members of our community we were only trying to help support local business/attractions, and spend our hard earned money during these stressful times at the facility which has brought us so much joy in the past. Unfortunately due to the harshness of the staff, and threats of having to call security (on two parents and three small children) that opportunity was taken from us. Due to the stance on mask wearing, and allowing the staff to illegally berate guests and members based on their opinions, we will not ever be renewing our membership and will spread word of our experience everywhere we possibly can.

The aquarium is nice and also the desert dome. Lots of construction were going on while we were there. Very crowded place even during the pandemic. I am not sure if it's because of the pandemic that most exhibits and restaurants closed down. But there were only one area with restaurants open, the rest were closed. Kids areas were closed, also. Some animals weren't out when we were there. Getting an annual pass is better for your money if you live in/around the area. We felt like the staffs weren't prepared of the crowd. The theater that we visited only have one person taking care of checking people in and selling tickets and dealing with concession. Lots of walking. They should have done a better design that we can cut thru the park if we wanted to get back out. It seems that we had to walk in a circle to get back out. Overall it's a fun place to take the kids.

Went to zoo today, so many animals you could not even see, due to closing or construction, no maps to tell you what was open or what was closed. Should have been charged half price to go in since half of everything was closed. Most concessions were also closed. Not a very good experience for a day at the zoo with 70 degree temp outside today.

Super disappointed. We took the whole family and were really excited about visiting. Many of the exhibits were closed but there was no warning regarding this. They should’ve charged way less for the entry fee since there were very few animals to see. Won’t be going back again this year.

Most disappointing zoo ever. Planned this trip for my birthday and it took us far longer to drive there than it took to walk through the whole zoo. Barely any animals on 60°F + day. The zoo itself is great. However, as of February 27, they were not limiting the number of people they let it, no one was socially distancing, and we saw several people not wearing masks. We left after 30 minutes because it was just ridiculous. If being cautious about the coronavirus is a big deal to you, avoid this place on the weekends at least.

Great place to spend quality time with families. You can buy their tickets online and they also have a QR code for the map, so that allowed us to have completely paperless service. Bring lots of water bottles as we really need them while walking the entire facility. Food options could have been better. Long lines were making it harder to get things quickly. Overall, it’s a nice place.

The hotel shuttle dropped us off at the gate, so I can't rate the parking. I might have reviewed this higher had I not just 2 weeks prior been to the St. Louis Zoo. That zoo is free, so paying almost $30 was a bit of a hard pill to swallow. And after that, a number of other things at the zoo were all fee-based. That made the pill a bit harder to swallow. Hands down, the highlight of the entire day was VINCE, an employee at the Coral Reef movie exhibit. The best exhibit, by far, was the Aquarium, followed by the Butterflies, followed by the Gorillas.

  • 5/5 Liam D. 2 years ago on Google
Such an incredible experience. The renovations are great and they are currently updating the Gorilla House. Ample areas to walk and see a wealth of animals. The Desert Dome continues to be a hit along with the aquarium and butterfly house. This trip we did not stop, but there is a kids area that has a little splash pad and park for kids to play. Our kids were actively engaged and moving through the zoo for 6hrs.

Best Zoo I have ever been. If you are in Omaha, this is a must see, do. We were there for just one night and managed to take in all the zoo has to offer. Be sure to get your tickets online and your reservation so you do not have to wait.

  • 5/5 David M. 2 years ago on Google
A great zoo. Must be a better time to go. This was a holiday weekend and it was packed. The gorillas were lazing about. All the animals were. We spent half a day and didn’t see half the zoo and almost no animals. They have a kid park with a shipwreck and a creek. Creek has a waterfall you can run through. Once we found that, spent most of our time there. Be prepared to pay more for stuff than any other zoo I have been to. $8 for a plastic cup that you can refill for $1.69. $6 for a ‘large’ popcorn. It’s in a cereal box sized container. Any other zoo would have given you a trash bag full of popcorn for that much. Those little trail mix bags you normally pay $1.59 at gas station for? $5. One of our favorite zoos! Love the variety of animals and how well taken care of they all are. Lots of indoor and outdoor exhibits. The only reason for the 4 star is there was only a couple places open to buy food and drinks— I waited in line for almost 2 hours to get lunch for everyone while the rest of my family continued checking out the zoo. Overall, great time!!

This is one of the best zoos. We bought our tickets on line ahead of time. Parking was close too. I'd suggest going during the week as it's less crowded. Our 20 month old grandson loved the gorillas. The baby gorilla came up to the glass where my grandson had put his hand on the window. So cute! Love the fact that you can see the animals up close and they have nice large spaces to roam.

We went to the Ghouls and Glow there. Wish we had our granddaughter but it was still fun to walk around and see all the lit up blow up decorations. The kids were dressed up so cute. It was really neat. The Aquarium was open and was very cool. The swamp is so neat. It's kind of spooky. A must if you have kids.

  • 5/5 David H. 2 years ago on Google
A must see if you're in the area and well worth traveling to see. Wonderful animal viewing and miles of scenic walking trails. Plenty of indoor attractions like the desert dome, Lied Jungle, the aquarium and ape house to experience even if the weather isn't great during the winter months. I've been to San Diego's Zoo, which is considered one of the best in the world and Henry Doorly Zoo is right up there, all it needs is Pandas and southern California climate.

Absolutely. Amazing. We are Minnesota Zoo members and have reciprocity to the Omaha Zoo...it puts our zoo to shame. It took us a good 6 hours to see everything! It's huge! Both of our phones died from taking so many videos and pictures. I'd highly recommend that families with small children take two days to see the whole zoo. It's a lot of walking - we averaged about 15,000 steps within our 6 hours. My one complaint is that during the off season, there are very limited places to eat/drink. We had to eat at the aquarium cafe which was online ordering with a QR code - kind of a pain when your phone is at 15%. I suggest bringing your own beverages and lunch.

I would highly recommend visiting this incredible zoo and spending some time enjoying the incredible organisms!

  • 5/5 Dan Perdue (. 2 years ago on Google
Wow. What an incredible zoo! We came in November when it was too cold for some of the animals to be on display but that didn't take away too much from an incredible experience because the majority of the animals are Inside. There is a massive desert dome that keeps an arid climate all year long. There are animals from all over the deserts of the world. There's an underground too! A cave section full of bats and other underground dwellers. That's not even all the caves lead to the swamp. Full of gators and beavers and other swampy friends. Then we wandered over to the jungle. Another gigantic indoor jungle full of monkeys hippos and birds flying about. There is a river full of monster sized fish from China and the Amazon! There are fruit bats flying around too. There's a waterfall and suspension bridge and all kinds of plants. We walked around the rest of the zoo and saw lots of other animals as well elephants and giraffes had a special indoor enclosure to keep them warm in the winter. They have lots of them too. The apes where inside too and they were having a ball playing and wrestling. The tiger got the covid so it was off display. Lastly we went to the aquarium it was nice. On the smaller side but it was cool too the sharks tunnel was a great touch. We came to Omaha specifically to come to the zoo for our anniversary and it was definitely worth it. Omaha is an amazing city that is really growing and is worth a visit and there is plenty to do.

  • 5/5 Sumit A. 2 years ago on Google
Your time would be worth spent here, this is not a regular zoo. I was personally skeptical on going here and though I went based on strong recommendation from a colleague. And yes, the place stands to its credibility. Lots of exhibits, immaculately planned, & maintained. You may plan to spend the day here to really enjoy the exhibits. Due to shortage of staff multiple exhibits are empty and also the zoo has short working hours. Lied Jungle, Aquarium, Desert dome were my favorite. The Desert dome has a lower level for the nocturnal animals, you definitely want to visit this. Durham TreeTops Restaurant is a great one which is by the Lied Jungle and you can enjoy watching animals while grabbing a bite. I was alone here though I did notice a lot of opportunities for kids to enjoy.

This is a truly beautiful zoo, with a tremendous amount to see. If you want to see everything, plan on staying all day. (Or maybe break it up into two days if you don't like walking all that much.) They have a huge variety of animals and the environments made to suit each one are attractive and interesting. They're constantly improving and adding new things to this zoo. Check it out!

  • 5/5 Lindsey G. 2 years ago on Google
Absolutely love this place. Even when there's construction you know it's just getting better. This trip was wintery, 30° out, and not everything was open but we still spent 4 hours enjoying the indoor exhibits.

Amazing experience, can't believe we didn't know about this before our road trip started. The facilities are immaculate and the entire place is priced like a zoo should be, so that people can actually do everything. The indoor activities are enough for an entire day by themselves but we also squeezed in a walk throughout the park. We could come 10 more times and not feel like we've done everything yet; we're looking forward to coming back.

Great Place to Explore as Far as all the animals and exhibits go well the ones that are open. BUT AS FAR AS THE FOOD If I were you I would definitely pack a lunch if you want to eat and snack. The food is not worth it and very nasty. Hotdogs was 5$ the fries were 5$ the chicken tenders was 7$ and I ended up sending everything back and getting a full refund because It was cold and not fully cooked.

Really exceptional zoo and aquarium in Omaha. They have beautiful grounds, even if there was no animals it would be a great place to walk around with tons of flowers plants birds and big mature trees. They have an exceptional array of animals including a snow leopard, two baby elephants, tigers, cheetahs, red pandas, anteaters, way too many snakes, giraffes, gorillas. It is laid out so you can really observe the animals. I would recommend getting a map because it is a little confusing but everything is beautiful so it kind of doesn’t matter. The aquarium is ver cool lots of jellyfish and anemones. Definitely visit the desert dome, it is very interesting and amazing to be inside. My only complaint is about the kingdom of night and swamp exhibits they scared me and I am a full grown adult, as a child I would have been totally traumatized it is dark and intense and full of snakes and alligators. But still a very cool experience. I would 100% recommend this zoo if you have a few hours in Omaha, it is totally worth it.

It’s such a fun place to go no matter your age. This year I ended up purchasing a pass through my workplace that allows me to bring a friend for free. I’ve already used it several times! It could just be me, but I wish it was easier to navigate the place with all of the construction going on. Some ways lead to dead ends or you accidentally take an extremely long route. It’s not too terrible if I’m with other adult friends but it can be a pain when we have children with us as it requires more walking for them.

I love this zoo! The admission price is a little high but that's to be expected with the price of everything going up. The exhibits are AMAZING! Check the zoos website before going as some times a few exhibits may be closed for renovations. This zoo is great for 1-2 hour Quick trips or 8 hour all day events for your self or the family.

Great weather and it was busy but it only felt crowded a few times, mostly at the indoor exhibits. Smaller zoo grounds with excellent facilities for all the animals, humans included. A hearty but comfortable walkabout. Baby giraffe <3 and elephant. Love the rolling wet globe near the Desert Dome.

This was our first time visiting Henry Doorly Zoo and it's the best zoo I've ever been to. There is so much to see and do. We enjoyed riding the carousel and train. It was 97° during our visit and the Alaskan Adventure splash park was a fun end to our day. We loved the Butterfly Pavilion, Desert Dome, Scott Aquarium, and Lied Jungle. Make sure to pack water and snacks as the food is not cheap! Overall, a wonderful experience!

This place is amazing! Being from Orlando and having all the theme parks out expectations tend to be low when visiting places like this BUT let me tell you this place is amazing! We got to 95%of the exhibits in a day but it was tough but worth it! All of the animals were so active and felt so close to you even the lions and tiger! If you like baseball don't miss the wiffle ball field in the parking lot! Great day of memories made, hopefully we'll make it back another time!

Highly recommended for anyone who loves animals. The aquarium is great, so much to see. This zoo is very large, lots to see. Will definitely come back again for the evening zoo. Skipped the train ride though, it doesn't do much.

My family voted this was not the #1 zoo that we have been too. It was a great day and we had fun, however the train had a long wait and then once we got on we saw no animals except maybe a couple and then saw a bunch of the back of the zoo. During this train ride they had to fill up so that took time too. Just walking around we hardly saw any animals. Inside the buildings we did see quite a bit but still feel like it was lacking. Our favorite part was the giraffe feeding and the sky lift.

The zoo is really nice with new features in the last couple of years. The only thing they could improve is more shading of the walking paths and gathering areas, and maybe a little more vending access to reduce wait times/additional options, but in general, it's well worth the trip. Kids had a lot of fun, littler ones will want a stroller as they get tuckered out.

Went to the Adventure Trail, saw some amazing Sea lions, the Dome, the night of the kingdom, the aquarium, the butterflies house and more. Very pleasant experience, clean and the weather is perfect for a zoo day. My kids loved the dip and dots. Definitely will go again.

Title: A Captivating Adventure: Exploring the Wonders of the Zoo The zoo is an extraordinary place that continues to captivate the hearts and minds of visitors of all ages. It is a sanctuary where the wonders of the animal kingdom come to life, offering an unparalleled experience that leaves a lasting impression. One of the most remarkable aspects of a zoo is the sheer diversity of species it houses. From majestic lions and graceful giraffes to playful otters and vibrant tropical birds, the zoo showcases a myriad of creatures from across the globe, providing an educational and awe-inspiring encounter with the natural world. It offers an invaluable opportunity to witness and appreciate the beauty and diversity of our planet's wildlife firsthand. Beyond its role as an entertaining attraction, the zoo also plays a vital role in conservation efforts. Many zoos actively participate in breeding programs and research initiatives aimed at preserving endangered species. By supporting a zoo, visitors contribute to these conservation endeavors, helping protect vulnerable creatures and their habitats for future generations. Moreover, the zoo serves as an educational hub, fostering a love for animals and nature in children and adults alike. Through informative exhibits, interactive displays, and engaging presentations, zoos offer a captivating learning environment that encourages curiosity, environmental awareness, and empathy towards animals. The overall experience of visiting a zoo goes beyond observing animals. It encompasses beautifully landscaped habitats that mimic the natural environments of the inhabitants, creating a sense of immersion and connection. Well-designed enclosures prioritize animal welfare, providing ample space, enrichment activities, and veterinary care to ensure the well-being of the animals. In conclusion, the zoo is a truly remarkable place that offers a multifaceted experience. It combines entertainment, education, and conservation in a harmonious blend, captivating visitors and igniting a passion for wildlife. Whether you seek adventure, knowledge, or simply a delightful outing, the zoo is a captivating destination that never fails to deliver an unforgettable experience.

What an attraction! Only reason not a 5 due to ONE eatery on this vast land? No info on line to tell me this. Once we arrived in the African jungle area ut was very good! Double cheeseburger better than McDonald's or BK 😆. Daughter had a spicy chicken. Stated pretty good both were $9. Some closed areas.

I made my first trip to the zoo recently, after hearing from so many how amazing it is. There's lots to see in terms of animals, but sadly my group's experience wasn't great beyond that. So much of it was closed on a Thursday, including all but one concession stand, the train, and multiple exhibits. Yet the tickets were some of the most expensive zoo tickets I've seen at $30. To top it off, it was horrifically inaccessible to the ambulatory wheelchair user in our group. Wheelchairs are an extra $10 for standard chairs or $30 (doubling the admission price!!!) for a motorized one. They opted for the standard option to save some money, but we were expecting the zoo to be as flat as everything else we'd seen of Omaha so far. We weren't warned how hilly the park would be, rendering the non-motorized wheelchair virtually unusable for most of our visit, and forcing them to walk more than they expected to.

Incredible zoo and experience. Bring a stroller, snacks, water, a hat/sunglasses, and layers as outside can be cool but inside can be warm! Only 4 out of 5 stars for a few minor reasons. I wish they provided insights at each exhibit on what is and isn’t stroller friendly AND offered designated stroller parking at exhibits. For example, the desert dome is stroller friendly BUT it would have been much easier to navigate without strollers due to narrow walkways & traffic. Having a sign at exhibits that say “We recommend parking your stroller here for the Desert Dome exhibit.” We ended up stuck with our stroller behind other strollers and would have happily walked the kids through had we known the layout of the trail. A small thing that could enhance the experience for everyone. Lastly, I would love to see a sit down restaurant. Plenty of fast casual concessions available but would have happily taken an hour in the middle of the day to sit and eat and rest with a nutritious meal. Overall recommend this zoo 10 times over!

There’s something magical about going to the zoo as an adult. Part of it is seeing things from a different perspective and having more knowledge of and appreciation for nature. My favorite attractions were the monkeys, aquarium, and sensory garden. One thing that needs to change though is the frequency and timbre of the train whistle. The zoo is supposed to be sensory friendly. As someone with a hearing injury, that thing is anything but friendly. Please consider a lower pitch and volume for the whistle. I would love to return to see the new exhibits that are set to open and the ones that were closed while we were there.

Great place to take the kids & enjoy. So much to see & learn. Pet daycare is FREE! You can bring in your own food & drinks (we brought a wagon) Map is very helpful & easy to understand. Animals look happy & well taken care of

That was quite an amazing zoo. Got there late so a lot of things were closing. You can definitely spend at least 4 hours there! The attractions are very cheap, and the food was amazing. The entrance especially made me feel like I was walking into a theme park.

We love this zoo! we have the passes and they are absolutely worth it! In just 2 visits they pay for themselves! This zoo allows you to bring in your own food and drink which is just the best and lets us really enjoy the day without cutting it in half as there is just SO much to see!

I had the best day here! Even with the cold there was so much to do, awesome animals and creatures to see. I kept finding new stuff to see and new areas. There was a lot to do inside and didn't have to be cold all day. My favorite was the Deasert and Aquarium. I cannot believe it's only 15 bucks for an all day ticket. I'm going again!!

The best zoo in the world! If you’re visiting Nebraska it’s a must see! If you’re from Omaha and haven’t been here in awhile or in many moons like some of my family members, you should definitely go! Downside currently being the orangutang and gorilla exhibit is currently under construction.

This is the place where oftentimes we go with our kid. Aquarium is the must to visit, looks so nice. We rode the skyfari, that was amazing. Entire place is so big, you will need lots of walking, yet enjoyable. Will also recommend for sea lions section.

I really like this zoo. It's environmental friendly and there is animals from all over the world. I would definitely recommend this as number 1 zoo. It's so big you can't visit it in one day. The aquarium is spectacular; you can walk under sharks! There is volunteering opportunities for those fourth grade and up.

This zoo is amazing!!! On cold weather days, you still have so many animal enclosures to visit indoors, you can easily stay warm. And on warm days there are plenty of exhibits to see as well. There's a reason this zoo was ranked #1 in all 3 categories last year! Fantastic job @OmahaHenryDoorlyZoo
