👍👍 I was so surprised at how nice it was inside. Beautiful ambiance. Patio was beautiful, the area that opened up to the patio is even more beautiful. I love the authentic Mexican culture decor. The staff was very nice, food was amazing & the long island was strong! I will 100% be going back! People often mention service, good, small, great, told, drinks, order, staff, hour,

I never like to trash a restaurant especially an establishment in my home town. Not a good experience. It took 15 minutes to get menus after we sat down. Another hour to get our food an 10 minutes to eat it. Not going back.

Called 5 times while on our way to see if we needed reservations, but no one answered. arrived an hour and a half before closing, there was about 7 tables seated, and they told us they were no longer seating guests with zero explanation or apology. Luckily we found a wonderful place with fantastic food and live music in Thornton called the Quarry Ballroom

The quality of this restaurant has significantly decreased. Pre Covid the service, food and drinks were amazing. Now the prices are higher but the food, service and drinks are terrible. I try to support since they are a small business but it’s just gotten ignorant. I walked in and they informed me they can’t cook any food because the kitchen staff was not there but can make drinks. Mind you it’s like 1pm, they opened at 11am. Why the heck are you open with no food or staff. This is a restaurant. Your name is literally Cocina Mexicana. I came back another day, luckily they had food. However, the salsa had plastic in it. The server was super nonchalant about it. Our server also reeked of cigarettes, blender was broken so they couldn’t make half the drink menu and the place was just super unsanitary. While watching the bartender make drinks, it was half puree and all margarita mix. Was a sugary nasty hot mess. When we told her we didn’t like the drinks because it only tasted like puree she got an attitude. Didn’t ask to remake them, didn’t offer anything for all the inconveniences we had, nothing. You can tell they are declining, it’s no longer crowded even during peak weekend times and there are always complaints from customers while I’m in there. I will never be back. If they keep on this track they will definitely be permanently closed if the health inspector doesn’t do it first.

First time I dined here, the waiters were friendly, food was great (I ordered beef tacos with a side of beans and rice and it was fantastic!), and overall service was great and on time. We were served food in less than an hour. Second time I came, they were lacking; they only served us drinks and appetizers and we were waiting for more than an hour. Other people who came in after us was served food and to-go trays in no time, while they left us waiting for another hour. After waiting for over 40 minutes, one of the waiters told us that our food will be ready in “five minutes”, but then we waited another hour. Also, one of the waiters stole my 2-year-old niece’s toy and never gave it back. It was not on the table or on the floor when we were leaving. I thought this was a lovely restaurant at first, but now I see they are shady, full of sh.., and like to play games.

Don't order online. After placing our order, we arrived 20 minutes later as directed only to learn that our food had not yet been prepared. Were we offered a free appetizer for our trouble or a complimentary soft drink? Nope. However, we did get to pay a surcharge for using our credit card online for an order that wasn't ready for pick-up. Not a winning formula for doing business which is why we will not be returning here.

Loud! We had to yell across the table to hear each other. It's certainly not a relaxing dining experience. Few tables for seating in dining area. Nice waitress but made many mistakes. 20% tip included in bill. 🙁 And the worst thing? No separate checks! There were 6 of us. What a chore figuring that out! 😱 We will find a new place to eat. (If you're into gaming, maybe you'll like that there.)

The ambiance could be amazing minus the flies. They really need to do something about the flies on the outdoor patio. The food is very satisfying and the service was great. Our server was very attentive. I love the Hispanic music in the background.

Ordered the #1 combination because I wanted the Chile poblano (stuffed pepper) and received a greasy blob. So oily you could smell it before trying to eat it. Below is a picture of how oily it was from me barely touching a fork to it. And the oil smelled old as well. I told the waitress and she just said she’d tell the chef. Never offered to give me another one that was cooked correctly or an alternative item. I even explained that the rest of the food came out ice cold (couldn’t eat my steak taco either and there were 3 other tables in the restaurant so not sure why cold) but they still took our credit card payment for full price.

The atmosphere was wonderful. We ate on the patio, and it was beautiful. The service was okay. Truthfully, if it hadn't been for the hostess chipping in, it would be a different story. She more than made up for it. The food, however, was bland. There just was not a lot of flavor to it. A little disappointing.

Had steak taco platter, which was good. Had iced tea but had a lemon flavor even though there was no lemon slice on the rim. Chips salsa at the table were good but chip basket was pretty small.

First time here in years and it ruined our day. First my husband noticed the table was VERY sticky. Second we ordered a small order of guacamole and it really only needed maybe 3 chips because it was SOOO small for $7 dollars. My husband ordered an average burrito tooo small for the price and they added $3.50 for a spoonful of beans and rice to his order. I had the three beef taco dinner, average, kind of blah in flavor and I wanted sour cream on my tacos and there was maybe a drop, a small drop on each one. Then to top it all off no refills on soda and 20% tip added to my bill. I told the owner I would not pay that. She said she is protecting her staff that work really hard. I told her you are trying to tell me how to spend MY money. I told her I was going to give her $10 dollar tip, which I did. She did not even give us a chance to tip. She took it off our bill, however it still was $82.00 for lunch. NEVER AGAIN!

This place has very pleasant service from the staff. For lunch it was a bit pricey especially when they mandate a 20% gratuity and a check out fee over that. The meal was good and th atmospher was quiet with the ability to talk with co-workers.

The food was great and plentiful. The service was excellent. The outdoor seating is very nice and screens out the parking lot and street traffic. My margarita, however, didn't seem to have much or any tequila. I wouldn't order it again.

I lived in Mexico for 15 years and I'm only 20, I know how good Mexican food taste like and Cilantro with their Molcajete didn't disappoint me. One of my favorite mexican restaurants in Chicagoland for sure. Totally recommended!!

Very nice and quaint neighborhood eatery. Food is better than average. Great place for small groups and even larger groups when their patio is available. If you're looking to host a small celebration and you like Mexican cuisine, this is a good choice.

I order the Mexican burger. And honest to God it tasted just like the ones my grandpa would buy us in Mexico. It brought back great memories of him and I will for sure be buying again and again. Delicious

When Pepes in South Chicago Heights closed we started frequenting Cilantro in Homewood and we loved everything about it. Food, atmosphere, service...but the last two times have been unacceptable and we have made the decision not to return. 20 mins before a waitress even came to the table. 5 tables of patrons in the whole establishment and the waitress couldn't be bothered to show up in a timely manner or even get things correct. We watched the owner chase her kid around the dining room and a hostess do more work than any other employee in the building, including run food and deliver drinks...to all of the tables seated. Very sad to see that they could care less about their customers.

Great place! I've been there twice and have been pleased with, good food, attentive wait staff and reasonable prices. We dined on the pretty enclosed Patio. Cheers to the chef delivering attractive plates with thoughtful presentation.

The food is Fye, the service is great and they cook home peeled potato fries. Dining in was a treat.

My spouse and myself ordered 4 tacos each & one for my son along with a guacamole. Everything was bland and pricey, not only did they charge close to $15 for the tacos we also got charged like $5 on top of that because “of the meat” which was just steak & al pastor. They are overpriced and not to mention the guacamole which was $16. I won’t be returning. I can say the only thing I did enjoy was the service.

We gave this place 2 tries. We really wanted to love it. Both times were a disaster. Food is tasteless. I ordered carne asada suiza. It was cooked so long it resembled leather and served on a hot piece of wood so all you could smell was burnt wood. Service is terrible because they automatically add 20% gratuity to any party size. They tried charging us for food we didn’t get and did not correct it until we asked to see the itemized bill. then our server nervously said “she forgot to take that off our bill” Something just didn’t feel right. Bottom line: $75 for an inedible meal, 2 waters and the automatically added 20% gratuity.
