👍👍 A great educational stop while exploring Historic Occoquan. This tiny museum built on the remains of an 18th century mill is full of great information about the town and life in the early part of American History. The town historian was manning the shop when we visited and was an excellent resource... People often mention museum, history, Occoquan, area,

A great educational stop while exploring Historic Occoquan. This tiny museum built on the remains of an 18th century mill is full of great information about the town and life in the early part of American History. The town historian was manning the shop when we visited and was an excellent resource as well. The museum is free but accepts donations in a box by the door. They also sell a variety of Occoquan gifts and memorabilia at reasonable prices.

Looks like a tiny museum but has a lot of history on the inside. Been there a couple of times and once with my nephews. The museum DOES have a lot inside it, like a TARDIS, and the staff person inside is always helpful. If you are looking for local history THIS is the museum for you. It may even be worth a trip to Occoquan if you live nearby or happen to be passing through the region. It IS a great experience found in a tiny building.

Beautiful tiny quaint museum with lots of knowledge to be learned. The stroll to the foot bridge with water fall along the pathways that lead into town are utterly romantic for this area. Shops are friendly and worth a visit to each one.

Found my tour to be very enlightening. I was fortunate to receive a tour from the volunteer scholar. He took me through the past history of the Town of Occoquan and the thriving milling process. He also explained how the small museum is what's left of the original mill house. Also was able to get inside look at rare photographs. They are available to all, but I could have overlooked them, if the guide had not pointed them out to me.

5 stars for a one room museum. Even though one room lots of local information plus a head stone with letters nobody knows what they mean. Nice thing is that the museum can be part of your day in Occoquan. Plus have lunch at one of the local eatery's. Talk with the nice lady my daughter, granddaughter and I met. Please donate.

A cute little history museum on a lovely street. While visiting the area with friends, we walked by a gentleman giving a demo of wheat-grinding to some interested children. He patiently went through the process of grinding the seeds into flour and gave each kid a little bag to take with them. Inside the museum were several photos and artifacts of the area from over 100 years ago. The museum was petite, but the website says more can be seen on request. Looking around was free, although donations accepted. If you're in the area, it is a nice little detour to experience.

My wife and I live in the area but have never stopped by the museum. It was open today 10/6/23 and we gave it a look see. Truly a hidden gym! And the staffer was very kind and knowledgeable.

This is worth a visit. Small but informational. I find the exhibit of the man who shot himself into the grave he dug when he found out his beloved married another to be romantic. Morbidly romantic... staff is amazing
