Visited here again to see another exhibition that was free entry. It is great to view local talent and I only wish we could see more of these events on display. Well done to the crafters involved and to the museum for a wonderful decision

Interesting museum in part of Bangor Castle which focuses on local history from bronze age to modern day. There's a nice exhibition on vikings and there's a replica of a viking longhouse to walk through. There's plenty to keep children interested and the climate change exhibition shows that the museum is keeping up to date with the latest topics of interest. There's a lovely cafe with indoor and courtyard seating and a great little shop to visit. The cafe is open everyday. The museum is free to visit and open everyday except Monday. When you've finished at the museum, you can walk around the Castle Park and the Castle walled garden.

Small museum focussing on local history, it is free and very welcoming - and some of the best exhibits are the models (a crannog, a Viking burial, and a monastery complex). Good to while away an hour or two and get a feeling for the area.

A very well done small museum. Dressing as a monk was fun and there were lots of things for kids to do: costumes, coloring pages and more! The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable.

A hidden gem. A few minutes walk from Bangor station, in the opposite direction to the one most people go, towards the Marina, but very worth it. Within it is a fantastic cafe that does a really lovely lunch, with the owner being very personable and eager that you enjoy your break. The museum is within a grand old building itself and is a really interesting insight into the history of the immediate area. Definitely worth a couple of hours of your time.

Very nice and friendly staff. Kindly introduced museum in details. Surprised to see Chinese treasures and the cafe was wonderful. Tried apple pie really delicious and lemon ginger tea is also very good.

Very friendly staff and a pleasant experience but unfortunately I couldn't get seeing all due to time mine not theirs or I'm sure I would have marked it higher.

Lovely museum in beautiful grounds with a delightful walled garden. My grandfather came from Donaghadee so I found lots to interest me in this museum. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. It has been very well put together and the displays are excellent. I found the Second World War gallery very interesting and accounts of the Americans stationed in the area during WW2. lovely cafe and nice food.

Had a lovely lunch at the on-site restaurant Cafè Cure with my friend Olivia which was delicious & then had a look around the different rooms in the Museum which are exhibiting some beautiful crafts that you can purchase including silver jewellery, wool & silk scarves, prints & paintings etc

Yea it's free... But it's not very big & there's not a lot to see. Most of the exhibits are a bit silly & not really worth looking at. The staff are friendly & very helpful though. The best part & the only part that I can remember was the 1950s cinema section which was very interesting but a little bit cramped taking into consideration other areas where much larger with a lot less to do. Overall it's worth seeing to tick it off the list, but only if you're in the area... don't waste money getting there. It's a petty it was so disappointing because it's a beautiful historical building.

Glenlola memories. Brought back great memories but was disappointed in the lack of a complete roll of head girls / deputies etc. There were whole school photos taken every 7 years, thought they would have been included. A book of memories with years attended would have been great to look through to find lost friends.

Went for their night at the museum, it was so much fun with so many different activities to do. We got to learn about our local area along side getting henna tattoos, making pots, live music with some beautiful muffins. Very good for a day out

WOW.... been to Bangor numerous times and never knew this existed. A must see for families. Tried on minks habit, handled viking shield and sat in a long room. Stood in a monk's cell and even watched bees in a hive. There is even a small cinema showing old footage of Bangor in days gone past. Parking is a bit difficult. You can also gor for a walk around the grounds...
