Very good experience for our first visit . Very welcoming staff and lots of space inside and out . Food was of a good standard and portions were just right from the lunchtime menu. Very clean establishment , all areas being cleaned on a regular basis. An enjoyable lunchtime meal and we would definitely recommend this pub to friends.

Terrible food and rude staff. Being a chef my self the food wasn’t fit for the dog I was fed lies when I complained about my food. My steak was meant to be m/r chicken was way over cooked and all the meat was kept in a hot hold for hours.

Great food, really tasty. A lot of room, big parking and nice, big garden. 4 stars only because they've forgot about my dessert and I had to ask for it twice. However I will definitely return.

During a 3 night stay at the nearby Holiday Inn we took a 10 minute walk to the Red Lion and were pleased we did. The food was well cooked and the Timothy Taylor ale really well kept. I would certainly recommend.

Fantastic pub. Family friendly, nice and clean, inviting and cosy atmosphere with great service and friendly staff. If I ever stay in the area again, I won't hesitate to come back here. Drinks are decently priced and they have a great selection. Food was on point too. 👌👌👌

There was a lady and a gentleman serving behind the bar. The lady was not energetic at all, borderline lethargic. Some of the customers waiting for a long time were rude to the bar staff. Which made our lethargic lady slower. It isn't the bar staff's fault, peak times have 3 behind the bar. Ordered fish and chips, mushy peas were almost soup like. Food service by the younger gentleman was smooth polite and courteous. Very clean toilets and the pub itself. There were no specific vegetarian options but some which could be consumed by them. I had a Tequila Rose shot to wash things down. Don't knock it until you try it! Would recommend.

Customer service was good. Food had a lot of taste and the steak was cooked perfectly. Waitress Laura was nice. Improvements that could be made is offering blue light card 7 days a week.. not every front line worker can only come out during the week

On arrival I noticed all reserved tables had customers names and times for their booking. I had to ask the server for my Table as there was no reservation note to be found. After checking their system, they found my booking and gave me a table. Decent pub grub, very tasty, reasonably priced and even better with a discount code. Good friendly service

We went for my daughter's birthday with her partner's family. The meals were generous and tasty. The staff were friendly and helpful and the prices were really reasonable. We had a great time.

Bang average pub food. Wouldn't be surprised if it was prepped in advanced and microwaved when ordered. The side of Grilled vegetables came out as a bowl of clearly boiled/microwaved peas and beans. Pretty slow service when I went. Have to order via a QR code or at the bar, no table service.

Amazing service from start to finish at the red lion after booking an area for 30people for my Baby shower from the first visit where I was given clear information on the options of buffet food on offer from Ashley to booking and paying a deposit and clearing the balance till the day of the event greeted with a smile by Tracey with time to set up and confirming what time I would like the hot food serving at which all arrived promptly and piping hot! And tasted great I had a lot of happy guests! So Thankyou to the kitchen staff Tom, Beth and Ross Nothing was to much trouble and Tracey would keep checking in to make sure everything ran smoothly 🙂 even on a busy Sunday lunchtime Lewis, Lara and Becca never kept anyone waiting long at the bar! Red lion Team you were a big part of making my day perfect and I thank you 😊

Dived in for a work meeting/ pub lunch. Smart clean and tidy, loads of parking and friendly staff. I had posh fish and chips, for the money small portion, 2 fairly skinny battered fillets and what I would call a half portion of chips and a blob of mushy peas. For a light lunch (and cheaper) fine, for a main meal not good value. Work meeting so didn't say anything but left a little hungry

Beautiful pub. Pub was very clean and modern. Staff were lovely and welcoming. Food was delicious and good value for money! Will be back very soon.

We had the Southern Fried Chicken Burger and Red Wine Lasagne . Cannot fault it. The food was spot on. The restaurant was busy and not many staff on. Lara the one floor waitress kept everything running smoothly and everyone happy, even with every table and seat taken. Will definitely return.

Had a really nice Sunday roast in the garden. The beef was very underwhelming but the turkey was surprisingly juicy and delicious! Do try the cauliflower cheese!

The food and atmosphere was fantastic. Nikki served us at the bar and was very pleasant. The place was clean and inviting. Especially love the fact dogs are allowed in the bar area.

Went in at an awkward time, five minutes before breakfast finished. The staff were very good, accomodating. My son and I ended up with burgers. And they were delicious! Good food, good service. Very happy. It was midday, and fairly quiet when we entered. But all was clean, open friendly.

Unlike other pubs, the tables and menu cards were clean and not sticky with beer stains. The tables are reasonable spaced out which creates a nice atmosphere. My meal was good but my wife being a vegetarian (and doesn't like curries) found the choice very limited.

Had the breakfast today was unreal!! Really enjoyed it. Such friendly staff and the food hot and fresh ☺️ Will certainly be back

The staff were very welcoming and when my order was not properly cooked to my liking they replaced it without any hassle and gave me a drink on the house for my inconvenience. They made me a fresh order which was cooked properly and tasted great. Would definitely go there again as a pub they are cheaper than both brewers fayre for a chargrill steak and the Mount pleasant pub. I would recommend the red lion to anyone wanting something nice to eat in a pleasant atmosphere.

Nice place for a drink. Can get quite busy on friday and Saturday so if you want a quiet one not the place for you. In the week its good. Friendly staff. Remember to put your car registration in at the bar. Toilets could do with an up date. Have had food there before was ok.

Traditional style pub with a good selection of beers at excellent prices. Looks like this will be my local for the next 16 weeks. Edit: I've had two Sunday lunches here, you can bet your bottom dollar I'll be having more!

    great place, fantastic food

A little lovely meal and friendly staff who changed a suspect beer without a fuss or quibble and changed the barrell. Good real ale and as camera members we know a good pint. A separate menu for vegan and vegetarian so no pasta take it or leave it options you usually get. Options to have a small pudding with tea or coffee a great idea just a shame I was too full to try it. I would definitely go again.

We visited for the very first time for our Christmas meal. What can I say, excellent food. Food was presented nice and hot. From the starter to the desert, it was all hand made right down to the custard for our desert. We will definitely be going back next year. Well done to the chef, the manager and staff. You did yourselves proud. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

We shared a lovely afternoon catching up with family as lockdown has eased and we could finally arrange a family catch up unfortunately due to the bad weather we had to cancel our plans of a picnic in the park and the red lion were more than happy to help with a large last minute booking. The food was amazing and staff were friendly some great offers On the menu’s with drinks and food . Thankyou to all the staff we will definitely recommend and visit again

Just a drink with friends although they do nice food aswell. Lovely beer garden when we have the weather and plenty of parking though you have to give your reg in at the bar as people were parking here for the hospital. Still buying a coke is a lot cheaper than a short stay in the hospital carpark

Had the French dip burger. 2 patties with cheese and steak tails. That gravy might be the best sauce I've ever had. Tim Taylor was a delicious fresh cool pint. Friendly attentive staff. Am recommending.

It is a decent place to drink and eat. Bar staff are pretty friendly. Toilets are in dire need of a decent scrub...dirt on the doors where you use your hands. Only downside to this place is the manageress. Loves the sound of her own voice and isn't easy on the eye. Everybody else makes the effort to look tidy apart from her.

I have eaten here a few times and its always been good . The meals are hot and service friendly. But yesterday the pub was cold with no heating on and both sets of double doors open. I can see why the restaurant was almost empty and the bar a couple of people in . Come on put a few £ in the meter winter coming.......

  • 4/5 Laurel H. 1 year ago on Google
There were check backs to ensure all was good. The meals all came out hot and we're tasty however some portions were quite small on adult plates. Staff were helpful and polite, could have smiled a little more

Consistently good quality food. Helpful staff. Real wood fire in autumn/winter. Good selection of drinks. Only down side is the pricing is a little steep compared to its competitors locally

This could of been a bit later but I guess they gotta make money The food wasn’t great. Didn’t really...
