We have now been twice for the cheese and meat board between 2, £20 for two or £10 each and each time it’s been amazing, they allow extra crackers and the board itself is amazing and the staff are great, the only reason I marked it down on atmosphere is I can’t believe there aren’t more people in there having it! Excellent is all I can say!

What an experience! The Old Windmill public house oozes atmosphere and it is a MUST if you are near Coventry city centre. A clue that this pub is very old starts with the outside appearance. Once you are inside the pub's age becomes more obvious. Quaint rooms . . . not one of them identical, ancient oak beams, blackened by the passage of time. One of the vertical beams is a tree around which the pub was built. Get this, The Old Windmill was built in 1451, thirty four years before the end of the Plantagenet era. Interestingly, there is a priests hole tucked into the side of one of the old fireplaces. Now, down to other things. There is a great selection of beers, wine and spirits. Grub is on-hand too. This public house is a must. Do try it, there is parking close by, you will definitely not be disappointed!

Lovely welcoming pub with a great selection of ales, beers, wines, gins and cheese! Lots of events on - live music/cheese nights/book club/beer festivals. We love popping in for a drink in front of one of the fireplaces now the weather has turned too. Really quirky place with a great atmosphere.

This pub is nothing special at all just because it’s 15th century, the drinks in my opinion are ridiculously overpriced. The staff are also very rude & ignorant! I personally will never go back here again as they don’t display there prices. Dreadful place, I do not recommend to anyone. All this pub wants is your money, nothing else.

When you need a cozy pub, you found it. Great friendly staff, with amazing real fires. Oh and don't forget the beer and pork pies. Enjoy.

Crazy fast service, especially considering it was a warm evening and the place was busy. Good selection of beers and the staff were very friendly. Only regret is that I had dinner planned elsewhere and so couldn't try the cheese boards.

Great atmosphere excellent choice of drinks and the ploughman's was delicious. Staff were lovely and it was great having Hannah doing her classical music, had such a lovely evening.

A trip down memory lane for a returning expat Aussie. Theakstons old peculiar was great. Staff were lovely and got me a mixed plate of pork pie with Stilton & black pudding, superb with good ale. Had scampi fries & dry roasted peanuts for desert with another pint. Packets seem smaller but they taste the same. Don’t miss this place if you’re in Coventry.

I was in Coventry for a few nights with work and we stumbled across this little hidden gem. Very friendly staff and a great atmosphere. The locals were great and got chatting with us because they heard our broad Scottish accents! Lovely place and will be back the next time I'm in Coventry to taste these award winning pies!!

I love the Old Windmill. Proper Elizabethan pub which has been haphazardly patched to keep going. Snugs, tiny cosy rooms. Everything is wonky and the beer is excellent. (Not ideal if you're very tall)

Lovely old pub on Spon St. Good choice of real ales to choose from. Great music in the background! I would recommend and visit again.

What a pub!!!!!! I've had two spells of living in Coventry and I'm gutted that I didn't find this place either time! So full of character with little rooms and proper fires. The staff were lovely. Great beer and the meat/cheese platter most impressive. Highly recommended.

I always love every visit to The Old Windmill. The staff and the atmosphere are so relaxing. It's always a joy. I often bring people who have never been before and they really love it's history and the ambience. Cheese night must also be mentioned as a brilliant experience. It's such a great little pub!

Great pub! Class and style. Good beer. Great food - pork pies, cheese board, cooked meats! Not always easy to find a place to stand or sit when it's busy. Update: Cheese night (once a month on Wednesdays?) Is superb

Great pub. Lovely atmosphere and surroundings. Would prefer a couple more interesting ales but will be back when I'm in Coventry.

Fantastic pub. We had an amazing cheese and meat platter and, as always, some lovely real ale.

Well kept beer, both regulars and guest ales, a warm welcome to one of the oldest and cosiest pubs in Coventry. Will absolutely be visiting again. Also, the pork pies are outstanding.

Situated in a very interesting street, it's a very interesting historical pub! Delightful little nooks to sit in. Visit on a Sunday afternoon and the folk club can be heard sharing its ditties from the front room which is a real delight. Food wise pork pie was great and good beers on tap, including Old Peculiar, so always going to get a 10 from me - ticks all the boxes of what a traditional English pub can be.

This is the BEST pub in the city centre. So welcoming and so pretty inside. There’s lots of rooms to sit. Lots of live music happening. Great tasting beer. If you’re visiting Coventry, this is the pub you need to visit. I think you’ll always be welcomed.

The windmill is a great pub. The beer quality and food is great. I would recommend the cheese board and pork pie. The staff are very friendly and provide quick service. A visit after the ice hockey on a Sunday night is worth a visit and occasionally they have live music. The courtyard space is also available for outdoor seating.

This is such a good pub , probably the best in Coventry. The staff are lovely and there is a ‘feel good’ atmosphere throughout. Can’t visit as often as I would like though 😂

Amazing olde worlde pub with low ceilings, oak beams and a warm welcome. Always has brilliant selection of guest ales to try. Visit everytime I'm in Coventry.

A typical old English Pub with a decent selection of ales and lagers on tap. It has a few rooms to the pub and a jukebox and often has live Bands. The staff are super friendly and the food is good, highly recommended. The platters (Ploughman's, cheese, meat etc.) are truly awesome. PS How many have noticed the Windmill near the entrance? I've been visiting the pub for 20 years and noticed it for the first time yesterday. PPS I have removed the pic with your neighbours opening time - I blame your beer for the mistake😁

Great pub, characterful pub. Myself and two friends spent a couple of hours in the pub before the Coventry v QPR game, in one of the snugs facing the street. We meant to go see the cathedral, but were too comfortable! They had a good range of ales and all were zesty. I was comforted to see a young bar lass building her biceps by pumping the pipes clean and then getting different ales on tap! Beautiful symmetry: youth, efficiency, first class ales, and a pub with loads of character. We also had a platter of very tasty different pork pies. The chilly pork pie was a little too hot for one of us, but us other two loved it. Next time I'm in Coventry, I'm coming here!

Fantastic pub, only wish it was closer to where we live being from Brum. It sells the great, one and only Old Perculiar on tap!!!mmmm. We were lucky this visit they had also just started a beer festival with loads more . There is something about a pub hundreds of years old untouched, beams, ploughmans lunch, pork pies, that just works..worth the travel. Don't change please . A big fan.

One of the oldest pub/buildingin Coventry. They do a lovely cheese board and drinks. Worth a visit. You can actually experience how houses were built centuries ago.

Proper pub, great ale and very basic, but tasty food. We visited in January and the fires were going, very cosy. What is better than a nice pint and a plate of cheese, in front of an open fire on a cold and wet Saturday?

This pub is over 500 years old. Feels a bit small for my 6ft 2in body and has very strange shape to the ceiling and floors but it's cosy. Nice drinks and you can buy cheese boards with fruit and meat.

Love The Windmill. Great pint! Gorgeous building. Funny how often you bump into famous people like Jerry Dammers, Pauline Black and Horace Panter there. Sad they don't have the leaded windows anymore. Has changed feel of the rooms for the worst being more open and exposed. Surprised they got permission to fit new glass due to Grade 1 listed. But still a Coventry institution and recommended all to visit this beautiful old friendly pub and show them your support.

Pure excellence in every way. Beer atmosphere, ancient, friendly, looks about 500 years both inside and out - because it is - pleasant staff, everything you want in a real pub which can't be faked. Tall people mind your head and everyone mind you don't trip on ancient multi-level floors.

Visited yesterday. Very nice pub - fine, historic building. Several real ales on - I had Timothy Taylor Landlord and it was excellent. I saw some other reviews which mention CAMRA members' discount - they don't do that any more. No worries. Pleased I visited.

Lovely pub, really nice and cosy atmosphere. Many little rooms you can be seated in so feels less overwhelming even if it's crowded. Great selection of beers and friendly staff
