I rate 2 stars only for the place. The place where the restaurant is located is amazing. The atmosphere inside is spectacular! But that was the only plus during our visit. We have ordered 2 steaks, 2 risottos with fish, 1 butternut squash and sweet potato soup, salad and sweet potato fries, and drinks. We also have 2 desserts. Our bill was £133. Steaks were cold, risottos were ok but I have tasted much better food for less money. Risotto didn’t have enough flavour in it. Salad was good. The soup was alright but too fatty and again Taste could be better. In regards with the service - we barely had any. I have asked for water refill 2 times and then the server brought it in a dirty glass, no one came to ask if everything was alright with our meals after the food within the short time the food was served. Although we had something to say about it. The server asked how was everything only after he brought the receipt and then we have mentioned that steaks were cold. We have never received spoons for desserts and couldn’t get the server to get us a few. As a result of that I had to get them myself. We were given 1 child menu but no crayons. After I found a server to ask if they have crayons for the child menu, she said no. But later the hostess brought us a pack. I would say that coming to such place I would expect a more attention to the table than we have received. Sorry, I have been working in the restaurants all my life and I know how it should be therefore I am critical to the level of service we had received. I would not come back for food and service and would not recommend restaurant. But sitting in the bar and having only drinks would be nice as the atmosphere of the place is charming.

I visited the Old Mill hotel for four nights. Of course I visited the restaurant nearly every day. The food is very tasty and the prices are fair. I also enjoyed the huge choice of different drafted beer.

We had a really nice time here. The pub does cracking food and the atmosphere is really nice. Indoors it's cosy, friendly, nicely decorated, and outside its rustic by the bubbling River with all the trees and greenery. This is a really nice place to come for dinner. We had a couple of little things though that could have been improved. Firstly, we were eating outside and they didn't us, just let us find a table. But the empty ones were dirty. It took a good 20 minutes and me asking twice before our table got wiped down. Secondly, if you were outside you had to get up and order at the bar, though the food was still brought to the table. It didn't come with cutlery though so we had to get up and leave our hot food going cold to search for cutlery inside. Maybe if we'd eaten inside it'd have been better, but the outside experience could be improved with a little more attention to detail I think. Those things said, I've still given this place 4 stars for its really good food, atmosphere, drinks, parking, river, specials menu, and more. In conclusion, definitely come here, just maybe eat inside.

Had a lovely time here. It was a last minute booking for a Sunday evening and luckily tables were available. The staff follows Covid Protocol and guided us to the right table. We picked few cocktails m, some of them were exceptionally good and rest were good. The food was delicious and quantity was accurate. I will go again. Last but not the least their staff were courteous and helpful.

Really nice place. Old building with lots of character. Looked really big too Out in the sticks and only a short drive from the city centre Came here for after work drinks. Massive car park and it was clean as far as pubs go. The tall bar tender was friendly and actually seemed like he wanted to be there Would like to come here for food I don’t mind but they do let dogs. Keep up the good work

Great Pub and restaurant, food is lovely with great choice and high standard produce. Good selection of alcoholic drinks of all types, draught cask ale also served which is of a top class standard. Stopped in the hotel also, rooms were very clean and comfortable. All the team working here were fantastic, nothing was too difficult, all seemed happy to be here, definitely made to feel welcome and service with a smile. I certainly recommend a visit here. A credit to Greene King who run the premise! 👍🏼

Just OK. Festive menu incomplete to be serve in full (no figs, no brandy sauce) A bit chilly ❄ in the pub as heating was off. With over £80 bill, just OK food in the cold restaurant plus missing the ingredients for the dishes in the festive menu we felt rather disappointed 😥

Didn't stay there, just went for food but the food was excellent. Everyone on the table absolutely loved their food. I had the salmon Florentine which was really nice. Would recommend

We booked a meal for Father's day midday to avoid big cues. As we arrived and waited to be greeted (10 mins at the desk) the General Manager Mark came over and merely said "names", he said very little else which was quite a shocker if honest. Meals were ordered and the wait was well over an hour, I went in to mention this to a member of staff (she was really helpful on the bar) and yet again heard the GM Mark communicating quite poorly, in this case talking down to a member of staff and around customers. I'd have given a 2/5 review but the assistant GM Hayley was amazing. She was super friendly, apologetic for the service received and just a delight to chat to. If she takes over we might be tempted to return.

I attended the Old Mill for a wedding reception and I must say I was massively impressed. The staff made everyone feel welcome, they went above and beyond to ensure the reception went well and the food was very good quality. Overall an excellent experience and highly recommend.

Went here to meet up with friends for the weekend and to celebrate my birthday on the Sunday. The staff are friendly and very helpful and we had a laugh with them. The rooms are spacious and clean with everything we needed for our stay. We ate in the restaurant attached to the hotel and we were not disappointed we got booked in straight away and all the food we had was amazing and really 😋 tasty. Plus we had breakfast each morning which was very tasty. We kept the staff busy with our drinks ordering until late. Fully recommend a visit and we will definitely be going back.

Had a fabulous meal here on 30th September’23. I went for the slow cooked venison shin and it was delicious. My meal was piping hot, well presented and so tasty. My husband had the venison steak and thoroughly enjoy it but did concede that my dish would be his choice when we next come as he had food envy!!

The mixed grill was awesome, one of the best I've ever had. The only thing I can mark it down on was the egg wasn't runny and could have done with about 5 more chips, but thats nitpicking... the steak was cooked to perfection and it all tasted amazing. Second visit here and it was as good as the first. Its a thumbs up from me 👍🏻

The staff at the Old Mill Amy, Tom, Lee, Marc and the General Manager were the best staff I have experienced for a long time. The food was top class too. Thank you. We will be back

The rooms are shabby - ours had sellotape holding the bath panel on. Carpets need a good clean. Everything just very outdated. We only stayed for a night and I wouldn’t have stayed if we had to be there any longer. The beds are rock hard. Headboards also have bits peeling off them which make it look like splatters of bodily fluid on them…. The corridor smelled of stale smoke. Dinner was ok in the evening, decent pub grub. Breakfast was nice. Staff all very friendly. The hotel just needs a full makeover!

Sunday roast is very tasty and plenty. Also tried the Seabass with scallops which was light and lovely. The pigs in blankets was very good too, 2 big sausages a portion. The building and premises themselves look beautiful too, great atmosphere and dog friendly. Definitely will be coming back if around!

Location perfect for our golf outing-Coventry Golf Club 4 minutes down the road! Room spacious, bed very comfortable. Relaxed dining experience with attentive service (thanks Harry). There was a riverside bar area, very popular, but we didn’t have time to enjoy. Food highly satisfactory and very reasonable (tried the ‘supper club’ menu). Also enjoyed the Chapel Down English sparkling on the wine menu -excellent VFM!! All staff very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend!

Delicious food, fast service, kind staff. Clean environment, massive portions. We went there for a Sunday lunch. It was quite busy, so it was better to book a table.

I went for a Sunday dinner with my 2 year old, my partner and my Nan and had a lovely time. Service was incredible, Connor is a credit to the restaurant and was possibly the most enthusiastic waiter I've ever come across! We all had roast beef which was lovely. The rosemary on the roast potatoes was a bit weird and the stuffing very dry but everything else was so great that it didn't really matter. We also had desserts, the caramel sundae is insanely good and very sweet. My partner had the chocolate brownie which he said was really good too. We love coming for a Sunday roast here and will be back again. You need to book in advance but its well worth it! Also, I'd say that the restaurant needs more highchairs! There are only two and both we're being used which isn't ideal. Thankfully Connor got one for us once he'd noticed the other family finished with it and cleaned it and brought it straight over (thanks again!)

Nice setting. Nicely decorated. Fire was lit, so nice and cosy. Toilets clean. Friendly staff. Lady serving drinks was very chatty, waitress very bubbly and smiley. Good selection of drinks available. Food was lovely. The pie was enormous. Veg done to perfection. We were advise to try the steak as it's so good there but unfortunately they had ran out, next time hopefully.

All I can say is, fabulous! Only stayed one night, but the service we received was excellent, had booked a table for dinner for 7pm, but got there early and changing to 6pm was no problem. Our meal was excellent, and the service from Harry our waiter was brilliant! Our room was very comfortable a lovely stay. Thank you!

Mixed feelings about this place. Hotel is lovely and charming. Reception staff are extremely friendly and welcoming. Rooms are great and have lots of personal touches. However the restaurant was disappointing. We were told the restaurant area was fully booked despite there being empty tables and walk ins after us. We were told we were welcome to sit in the bar area with our 10 month old. We can’t help but feel like it is because they do not want small children distrusting their perfect Sunday service… would not come again. We travelled two hours to get there for a family event.

I stayed at the old Mill for a business trip and I have only good things to say. The room was comfortable and clean, the breakfast choices were incredible and the staff were super friendly and made me feel relaxed and safe as a woman in her own. I had dinner at night and the food was beautiful and the staff lovely and attentive again, as were reception staff. I am so impressed that I am planning a weekend stay with my hubby soon. Thank you for making my stay so pleasant.

I only stayed for one night to break up a business trip journey back to Devon. Room was comfortable and clean, all the staff I encountered were very friendly, efficient and helpful. The bar has a nice atmosphere, obviously a popular place with the locals. Food was good as were the ales on offer. Good value for money as I've paid the same or more with some of the big brands and not received the same level of service. Will return fairly soon too.

Wonderful family meal for one of our party's birthday. Great choice of food, although one of the meals' chips were cold. But on complaining, the waitress brought another dish of chips which were piping hot. Otherwise a lovely meal with excellent staff. Would definitely recommend.

Pleasant staff, very dog friendly and good food. I came here with some work colleagues last week and it was very good. I had my dog with me and I was impressed with the blankets, water station and range of dog treats. The staff were supper polite and helpful. I’d certainly recommend this please for a bar meal if you have a dog. Super, well done!

Visited the Old Mill as a table of six on a busy Tuesday night for the pub. The atmosphere in the pub and restaurant area is very cosy. Food was excellent value for money. My only complaints are with the time it took between ordering to having our food. The floor staff also appeared to be very busy and were not as attentive as they should have been - though I believe this is purely down to the pub being understaffed.

We were in the Grey Lady room... A M A Z I N G ! Highly recommended.. although it is upstairs, there is a toilet up a couple of shallow steps so quite easy. Very good strong handrails on the stairs. Fantastic place . Go for a drink or meal. Sit on the terrace overlooking the river that powered the old waterwheel.

Lovely place with great surroundings. We popped in on the off chance on a Sunday evening. Not so much interested in roast dinners so we weren't phased and wanted to try the menu. We both had the steak with the side of calamari and prawns. Portion size was excellent. The steak however could have been better quality but that's to do with your supplier over your chefs' ability. The cutlery could be better quality too as it appears old and cheapish. Our server was excellent so was happy to leave her a tip. Will definitely be back!

Lovely place. Not sure why some people left bad reviews. Maybe they have too big expectations. For us everything was great. We've been there twice. Once as a couple and the second time with 2 kids. All of the staff were very friendly and polite. The room was cleaned every day. Rooms are quite big and equipped with everything except a fridge. It's a quiet location. In my opinion food is on a high level. I really enjoyed every single dish that I tried. I will definitely book again if I travel that way in the future. 👍

One of my favourites pubs in the area! I love to have the Rosemary & Garlic Camembert for two, with a good beer, and enjoy the backyard.
