It used to be a great safe space but now it caters exclusively to a straight clientele. They play chart club style music and you're hard pressed to find anyone there that isn't a group of straights who are looking for a unique night out. If you're trying to be inclusive, then great, but you're doing it to the detriment of the LGBTQIA community. Having a few drag nights doesn't keep you a gay bar, stop selling out.

I don’t like this place, it doesn’t seem friendly, the drinks are extremely expensive and the staff are rude. I got strip searched before entering this pub. This is the first time it ever happens to me. Not coming here again.

Unfortunately this is one of only 2 gay friendly venues in Coventry. This particular place is a disgrace to the city. We arrived for a couple of drinks completely sober on one of the hottest days of the year to be denied entry because the guy on the door didn't like the shorts I was wearing. If you enquire by phone beforehand to be told they don't operate a dress code to be then told the door staff have a dress code. When questioned the door staff I was told " the dress code changes every night init " I've been to this venue many times before and never had an issue but won't be returning again it was very clear we were not welcome here for no reason whatsoever. Very disappointing and a complete waste of time.

Claiming to be a “gay bar” is the first of a disappointing series of lies told by this venue which is focussed on cashing in on the “pink pound” rather than providing a safe space for members of the LGBT community. For a hen party, or group of lads looking to hit on straight - go nuts. For anyone looking for a gay bar - expect disappointment at the least, latent homophobia from the door staff at the worst.

Being blind I was welcomed with my guide dog with open arms. All the staff were brilliant with me and my friend who was also blind and the service was outstanding. Food was good and the staff will certainly go out of their way to do absolutely anything for you.

Service is super unfriendly. Had multiple negative experiences, a friend got removed for being “too drunk” when they had actually just injured themselves sober, a friend wasn’t allowed in we believe based on his appearance, staff are really rude, security are judging you constantly and so are the drag queens. Seems like they only care about the regulars and nobody else. Also the “club” is super small and plays rubbish music and drinks are too expensive. Constantly people doing coke in the bathrooms which are often unclean. It’s a shame because this place could be something great and it’s always good when an events on but in general I just feel on edge here. Considering it’s supposed to be friendly and non judgemental it’s literally the opposite.

I had a really refreshing pint on a very hot day sitting outside in a very comfy and relaxing outside area. I accidentally left my hearing aid in the bathroom before catching a train back to Manchester. I contacted the staff late that night on the same day. They replied instantly, found my hearing aid and sent it back at their own cost, refusing my offer to transfer cash. Outstanding and kind service.

Extremely disappointed! Friends visited us from London and considered this gay bar was the best in city we decided to go for the first time. To our surprise the door staff refused us entry as they said that dont allow big groups. It was the worst excuse I've ever heard for refusing entry as we were just a group of 6 . We left in disgust and needless to say that we won't bother even trying next time.

Great place, we went there around 22:00 and had lots of fun. Music was awesome, even live at some point. Not too crowded . We stayed outside and it was quite worm due to heaters . Totally recommend this❤❤

Looks lovely from outside, inside is another story. Was sat at a table in a far corner, no one asked what we wanted to order when we were sat down and then had to hold up a sign to ask for a drink for 24 minutes, by which point my arm was about to give up. Reluctantly ordered food which took another 35 minutes to turn up. Many people around us had to be refunded due to their orders not turning up. Unfortunately this will be my last visit to the Yard. If you’re looking for a quick lunch or drink, don’t go here.

Haven't really got anything bad to say, we're not from coventry and saw this online. Lovely atmosphere, staff are so friendly, interior and exterior are great too! Didn't know it was a karaoke night but glad it was as we ended up staying till closing, was a good laugh and would recommend here for some fun.

Thanks for such a great afternoon. Ryan at the bar is a legend!! Ryan was so attentive and always served with a smile. If Ryan isn't full time staff then they need to be made full time. Ryan is an excellent member of the team and is very good at keeping the music at a decent level 🤣.

After spending hundreds here, they weirdly arbitrarily accused one of us of throwing water over the toilet attendant (obviously untrue because who would do that). They then were incredibly aggressive as they through my bf out. Despite us all leaving calmly the whole bouncer staff became incredibly aggressive. They clearly just want a fight. Seriously the weirdest thing that’s ever happened to us.

Came for Big Day Out and it was so much fun! Really affordable too, a round of drinks including 3 doubles were only around £20! Thanks for a great evening. The security guards were really friendly and professional. Bar staff were hard working and didn’t get anything wrong. 10/10! Please don’t close down.

I visited your establishment with friends last night, as someone who works in a bar I can appreciate that it was busy and that drinks will take longer but after getting a dead arm from holding the sign up for over half an hour to then wait over 40 minutes for our drinks which we ordered shots tequila being one of them, and asking for salt and lime as let’s face it that’s what tequila is served with to be ignored then to as again and still be ignored after 20 minutes I didn’t even drink it and left as the gins coming out were over flowing with fruit so there definitely wasn’t a shortage of lime, just lack of staff awareness and acknowledgement when asked for it to be rectified so my experience safe to say was not an enjoyable one especially after being to other venues around town getting served within 20 minutes Max!!!!! Not good not good at all.

Having moved to Coventry a few months ago, this was my first time here. Security were quite thorough but that’s understandable in this day and age. Brilliant entertainment, one of the better places to go out in Coventry. DJ was great, he wasn’t bad looking either, if only I was 20 years younger..

The best (award-winning!) venue in the city. Great atmosphere, big covered outdoor area, great cabaret and some of the top tribute acts, lovely friendly staff, club upstairs and bar downstairs. The security team are brilliant and there is a taxi rank outside. I love the theme days/events like the Queen's Jubilee and Pride, charity support, inclusivity and they serve food.

I would not rate this place one bit. Firstly the security here are very rude, intimidating and will kick you out for absolutely no reason at all. I was backed into a corner in the stairwell and stood over by a male security guard who wanted to tell me it’s discrimination to feel uncomfortable by my self with a male who is in my face and standing over me. Myself and my work friends were kicked out for accidentally knocking over a wet floor sign. We were then greeted with smart remarks to what the reason was by two young male security guards who did not like to hear they had bad deescalation techniques. This venue is horrible and these security guards are disgusting and disrespectful to females in particular. ***** the owner can’t even admit to their staff being rude and aggressive and then want to try and make out they’re the good guys. The owners response is absolutely incorrect and it is a disgusting venue. What they state was seen on their body cams is incorrect, I’ll happily post photos of the security member who backed me into a stair well and stood over me. Next time review your policy and clean up a spill on a floor and not leave a sign in the middle of a dance floor. Your female security guard caused every piece of escalation. Might be worth yourself and your staff to go back over those training techniques you state you have.

Fabulous entertainment again and great consistent service. Decent drinks with plenty of choice. Visited Saturday with my girlfriend who I met at The Yard a few months back. Highly recommend. Thank you! 🍻🎶💃🌈💖

Orginal Review below posted on 25/10/23. I visited The Yard recently, and had a disappointing experience. My friends and I were asked not to move a wet floor sign, which is understandable. However, when we danced around it, a security staff member approached this situation in an aggressive way. An attempt to discuss and. resolve the situation peacefully was with disrespect and refusal to engage in a constructive discussion. The security guard said what she want to say, but then refuse to engage with members of this party. This left us feeling humiliated and disrespected. I believe maintaining order and safety can be done with respect. I hope this issue can be resolved to ensure a better experience for future customers. *Edit -Added 26/10/23 In reply to your reply. Amazing night , until the bouncers told us we had been trouble and ("had been told") told multiple time to sit down. (We hadn't) we really enjoyed the show so much we have 5/5 time but after that no thanks. Sorry guys really loved the show and give so much love but after that no thank you, the show was amazing and the drinks were nice but after that no thank you we were just being quiet and enjoying the show even gave a 5* out of 5* but after that no thanks. Edit : we have been sat down the whole time, even bought the performers some shots to show out love , we stayed seated and have our all , your door staff made us out to be unruly, not standing for it we had tried to ne nothing but polite.

I’ve came to the venue for the last 3 sundays, the entertainment is always top quality. Today was amazing. Drinks still are a little slow at times but the staff are always apologetic about it and we do get them eventually. Service is slowly improving, definitely noticed that tonight, improvement is still needed but 100% better then the previous weeks. Definitely recommend the drag queens on a Sunday night and every guest they have had.

I was in tonight and I noticed that the staff were being treated awfully, there was a young boy called Dylan serving us for the majority of the night and he was AMAZING, he was recommending us drinks (although the prices were realistically way too much), he was making us laugh and he really made the experience come to life. Although the management were treating him awfully, I overheard a dispute about a payment that he owed them which he stated that he would pay once he had placed some glasses in the back, the manager STOOD IN HIS WAY and demanded that he pay on the spot and they ended up sending him home for his “attitude” but he showed no attitude whatsoever?! And wherever he is I’m so so sorry that they have the nerve to treat their staff the way that they do

Both the bar staff and security team went above and beyond in delivering great customer service and made sure we had a friendly, safe and fun night out.

3 times I've been here over the last few years and everytime has been a bad experience. Bad attitude staff and don't like it if your straight! And altogether is a pending fight all night I don't like that feeling at all will never ever go back!!

Been a couple of times now. Early evenings/weeknights are quiet which is nice to chill out. Drinks are quite expensive - I was drinking virgin cocktails at £4 each, but the venue and bar staff are nice enough I keep coming back. They have vegan food options and staff were super lovely and friendly - very willing to help when I asked about vegan drinks. No truly gender-neutral toilets (I'm non-binary) but a sign up inviting people to use whichever they are comfortable with, which made me feel a bit better. Unfortunately my gay male friend was questioned by a bouncer, "you know this is a gay bar right, mate?". With all the rainbows everywhere - noooo, we didn't realise(!). I guess he didn't 'look gay enough'? Or do a man and a feminine person together automatically mean straight couple 😣 He was allowed entry, just felt a bit uncomfortable about it. But the warm and welcoming bartenders have never questioned us and have always been kind ❤️

The food was OK. Had 2 gin and tonics and a large fish and chips. After my meal, a man in a dog costume picked up my plates and stroked my groin on the way back. Not gonna lie, I wasn't dissapointed.

This is a great bar, with a great atmosphere (which I’ve heard is rare for Coventry) and we were pleasantly surprised to find a nightclub upstairs which went on til very late. Would also like to say staff are really helpful and polite. I lost my phone during the night and didn’t think I would get it back but staff went out of their way to help me and it was finally located. Will definitely be back.

Just paid for 3xcocktails that was Fanta pop no straws the guy had not a clue how to make them paid for the drinks and they forgot about us left my pop on the side bar woman was rude towards the bar tender asked for a shot of rum to put in my pop was refused now happily drinking a rum & coke from better establishment

I have come to the yard multiple times. Beautiful place to relax, have a drink and have a fun time. The staff are amazing and you definitely feel secure in there. By far this LGBTQIA+ safe haven is probably one of the best Gay bars in Coventry. Only flaw i have with the yard is if there was more indoor space. It can get a bit cold so try your best to have a seat inside.

Really love this venue, some times it’s very hit and miss😐 enjoyed my night Sunday at the yard but was alittle slow and quite messy on the tables.... could see members of staff showing not much interest and the others working hard Other than that it is an amazing venue
