Argyle on tour!! 5hr train journey to get here. Booked into hotel at the CBS stadium and have walked the 15 minutes or so to this pub. And a super pub it is ! Not a lot of real ale choices but staff were very friendly. Ordered some food after 2nd pint....Piri piri chicken flatbread and some chips, which was good. Lots of Coventry fans coming in. It's obviously a well patronised eating house before the match. Lovely atmosphere, and when I left people were vying for my table as it was that busy. Deserved a draw....but the referee had other ideas.....ah well. Back to glorious Devon....

We visited on our way home to Kent from Manchester for a late lunch. The restaurant was busy because of the football but when I asked about being in a quieter area, they came back to us when a table was free to offer it. Food was really tasty and good value for money, my husband and I had the chicken sharing platter and there was so much food! I had an ice cream sundae and it was delicious and the kids had massive sundaes. Staff were friendly and welcoming. But best of all was the after care we received. Unbeknownst to us, we left our son's wallet with all his birthday money in on the table. When I realised the next day we didn't have it, I started working my way through all the places we'd been. I rang the pub and spoke to Hayley. She asked me to confirm what type of wallet then said they had it and had been hoping we'd call as they knew it must belong to our little boy as she'd been working the day before and remembered us. She was so friendly and happy for us. She took our details and sent the wallet back recorded delivery (as we live too far away to pop back). I offered to reimburse her but she refused. She then checked n after to make sure we'd received it. We are so pleased there are such honest and helpful people in the world 😀

We decided after a lovely game of bowling to visit our favourite pub the bull & anchor. We did check to see when last orders for the kitchen was on their website serving hours 12-9. We arrived at 8:45pm, we informed the lady as soon as we arrived said we need to order before 9pm. Placed our order just before 9 pm. The team leader was outstanding processed our order fast so it was received in the kitchen on time. This is the not so good part. The kitchen chef decided to turn off the kitchen before last orders and refused to process our order. So disappointed and felt for the team leader as she couldn’t do enough for us offering free drinks and crisps. We thank you so much for the lovely welcome and trying your best in a very difficult situation. You was a star. 5 stars just for you .

Pleasant update to the pub, shame parents can't control kids running to the toy machines and playing their own devices loud but hey ho. Food was nice and tasty although never actually got what was pointed to them on the menu as to not confuse what we wanted, was so hungry though just eat and never complained, stiff upper lip and all that.

This is a hidden gem. The menu is extensive and should provide something for everyone. The quality of food is excellent, we had the mango chili chicken skewer which was first class. The cost was very good and there were a number of specials. We went on a Thursday and it was buy one get one free on burger meals. The drinks were cheap with a large rose wine for less than £5. The eating area was clean and well presented. The staff were very good and the food was delivered in good time. I really would fully recommend this venue.

Well worth visiting before the recent Coventry v Norwich match. Good food, nice selection of beer, friendly and accommodating staff, and just as important, good mixture of home and away fans with no animosity towards Norwich fans wearing Yellow and Green! Made to feel most welcome, thanks.

Was visiting to watch the football on boxing day, had tables booked for 10 of us . Ordered food and drinks through the app and they arrived very quickly and hot ( not the drinks) A very busy pub but a great atmosphere for us away supporters. Highly recommended.

Me and a friend were driving through and happened to see the incredible steak night that the Bull & Anchor were serving that night. The temptation was too strong and we stopped in for a meal. We did not regret it one bit, the steak was amazing and all the staff were really friendly especially a gentleman by the name of Kyle. Thank you everyone for looking after us. All the best.

Better than expected. Food was on table in minutes (if you like that) polite, cheap, tasty (mixed grill and a chicken combo meal). Will be back soon.

Excellent service from all the staff , visited pub after recent football match , grandson fell (off the premises) and sustained a wound to his hand from broken glass. Staff ensured wound was clean and dressed it appropriately and filled in accident reports. Thank you to all concerned 🙏

Cheap food, cheap beer, what more do you want! Extensive menu all good grub, nothing fancy just good quality for a reasonable price, not many pubs like this anymore. Plus, always showing the football or other sports on big screens, just what's required during a family gathering 😉

The new menu is disappointing (missing the Sunday roast), which is a shame, the staff are friendly and accommodating. The decor is pleasant and links to the local area. Reasonably priced during the week when the deals are on.

Normally the food is very good but our last visit on the 21st of Jan was poor. Food was cold and 2 meals had to be sent back. Service was incredibly slow. I can only assume they were short staffed. Hence the 3 stars.

Difficulty parking and had arranged to meet family here. Busy inside and loud possibly football fans? Had no issues with the place but just not for us on that day so we didn't stay. Would try again another time.

Today a party of 10 0f us went for our monthly lunch in the pub. We have been using the pub for about over a year or more. Sometimes we book in advance and some not, dispite this we have always been greeted with a friendly smile and a warm welcome. The food is great, nothing is ever to much trouble and the service is brilliant ,today especially I took a gentleman who was in a electric wheelchair which stopped working and had no power we phoned everyone to get some help as we was stranded there which 2 staff members had noticed and came to help. After many attempts we ring for taxi and the staff pushed him to the taxi and helped him into the taxi with the upmost care and support. Thankfuilly we made it back safely, so I carnt thank you enough for everything they did going above and beyond. Thank you again ladies. X

Reasonable pricing for a family meal and the children's menu is brilliant something to suit little eaters as well as big eaters. My children are always delighted when they have a chocolate mania pudding for a treat. Myself and hubby are happy they serve real ale too.

Lovely place to go for meal. Love the food they serve good quantity and off course food quality. Prices are so reasonable as we went on weekday they got some eliciting offer like two meals for £10 really worth it. And deserts are over the top in my list.

Amazing food and service, no long waits and still offers table service. Felt very at ease and safe even with restrictions lowered. The bar looked lovely loved the flowers and signage. Plenty of choice to choose from. On arrival till the time we left the staff were all friendly and helpful, didn’t have to move only to smoke or use the toilet. I’m gonna be back again can’t find one fault

The gammom I had was very very nice shame there was no mushrooms. Then again I did not ask. For pudding I had sticky toffee pudding with dates and custard. It was amazing, my favorite pudding now. The service was was great. And could not do enough for you. Will be going there again soon. My wife had hunter's chicken and she said it was lovely. 10/10.

This is our local pub. The staff are so so friendly, Karen the manager always does her best to accommodate. We were served by Sue, she is so helpful and friendly. Checking in with us, offering high chair for our kids and also getting kids cutlery for our little ones. This pub is kid and family friendly, friendly on your purse (which is good, as it means we get to come back again and again!!) and just has a nice atmosphere. If you love sports, they always have different games on, competitions etc.. They also do bingo or a quiz every week or two. Over Christmas we were lucky enough to get to go to breakfast with Santa, that was great for the kids. Highly recommend this pub. I'm so glad it's my local! :)

I went out yesterday with my boyfriend for a meal and had a lovely time. The steaks were amazing and I couldn’t fault a thing. I also love that they have offers and deals throughout the week. If you’re looking for a welcoming environment with friendly staff I definitely recommend going here.

We called into this pub on the spur of the moment as our reason to be in the area didn't happen. To be fair a Monday lunchtime is perhaps not the best time to give an opinion. That said I felt quite at home as soon as I was in the pub, and that's the reason, it IS a pub, with a pool table and sports tv in one area with a separate area for eats and drinks, and it FELT like a pub which is fine for me, I've never liked the commercial places so this was a nice feeling, the burger I had was pretty good too. Given the opportunity I would easily revisit.

A delightful and charismatic local pub with a great beer garden. The layout is open and the decor is a mix of contemporary but with historical photos. The menu has a wide choice with different del options on different days. The staff are smart, friendly and welcoming. All in all a very nice and well run pub.

It's OK, nothing special . Menu writing is small , cramped , background colour makes difficult reading in poor light . Lighting is OK but background couler on the menu , makes reading hard . Small car park , internal layout and decor OK, food and drink , it's what you expect. If your in close it's worth stopping for a visit .

Visited the Bull & Anchor on Sunday 31st July after the morning session of the Commonwealth Rugby Sevens. The pub was bursting at the seams due to the rugby and F1 on TV but the staff were very cheerful and helpful despite being under massive pressure. We ordered our food and were warned about the wait time but it came sooner than we expected was delicious and served by a very friendly and helpful lady. Thank you for making our lunch break from the Rugby Sevens so enjoyable especially as you had a long evening ahead of you with the Lionesses playing in the Euro final. Fantastic pub!

Booked a table for 5 in advance, the fantastically friendly team had us seated upon our arrival, the pub is clean and well-maintained and the surroundings are warm and welcoming. We had my sons girlfriend from Canada over to stay with us, it was her birthday and because we don't 'eat out' often, I was keen to make sure the meal would be an enjoyable experience. Food was great, I had a surf, turf and chuck, skillet sizzled as it was served! All of our party were more than happy with their meals and enjoyed themselves. The staff were BRILLIANT and went the extra mile by serving a cake that we'd taken to celebrate the Birthday girls day. 5 Stars.

I had not visited this establishment for quite a while but on entering received a warm welcome. The purpose of my visit was to have lunch. There was a good choice of menu and an offer of two meals at a cheaper price. Having placed the order the food was served fairly quickly and it was delicious, both the main dish and the dessert. The staff were friendly and made sure that everything was satisfactory. I will definitely visit again and would not hesitate to recommend it to friends and family.

First time I've been here for a long, don't think I'll be rushing back anytime soon. Using the app on my phone to put my drinks order to the bar and everytime I had to go up and ask where my order was. OK the first time I could understand as they were a little bit busy but the three times after that there was nobody at the bar so no excuse for waiting 15 to 20 minutes. The last time I went up and asked the barman turned round and oh yes I have a few tickets here. So why is he not checking the tickets . I shouldn't have to go up and prompt someone to get my drinks after waiting 20 minutes.

This is a gem of a pub. The staff are excellent and are always welcoming and friendly. Often pub food, especially in chains is average. This is in my opinion at another level to normal pub food. I have tried many things on the menu and have never been disappointed. I personally would rate this as excellent for atmosphere, quality and value.
