Been going to this absolutely beautiful pub in a lovely village setting for 30 years+ now but today was outstanding, a fantastic wholesome, vibrant vegan dish with the butternut squash flatbread. Amazing, cheap, packed full of flavour dish for vegans and such a welcome alternative to a the usual vegan burger as an option. More than enough for a lunchtime main and under £8.00. Fantastic service from Steve and great atmosphere. Please keep this dish on your menu. Very nice to give us vegans a little something we hadn't thought about ourselves !

The bear has been a local pub for many years since my kids were small so over 40 years on and off, this week we popped in for late lunch, the decor on entering is bright and festive, our waitress found us a table but we asked to sit by the window. There were two menus and we choose from the light lunch, I had sea bass (see photo) there were generous potions and seems good value, staff were very friendly And service was prompt. Fully recommended.

We had a lovely time here this week. Bear Inn is a fantastic traditional pub with excellent staff, the food was good and very reasonably priced on the lunch menu. However, it lacked a bit of attention to detail, as you can see in some of the photos (hollandaise sauce on the edge of the plate, a piece of onion in the sauce next to the burger), but considering this isn't a fine dining establishment, these small issues can easily be overlooked. We'll certainly return for more and hopefully experience their lovely outdoor area.

Absolutely fantastic food for the price. It must be said the service is a little slow.. but its worth the wait. I recommend the food here to anyone. Can't wait to go again 😁

Had a lovely family meal at the Bear Inn. The staff were very attentive. We were looked after by the lovely Kerri, a real credit to the establishment. The food was great, well presented and good portions. Travelled from Gloucestershire, it was well worth it.

I took myself and my two boys for a meal, it wasn’t overly busy but wasn’t exactly quiet I was quite shocked to see that there was only 2 members of staff on both the floor and behind the bar they were rushed of their feet and did the best job they could, however nearly 15 min wait to bring 3 drinks over wasn’t exactly what I expected, the food was ordered and again a 30min wait when the food came 2 plates came out and a further 5min wait for the 3rd meal. I was very shocked at the quality of the food we was served, I have used this place several times and was very disappointed as were my children none of us finished our meals and we paid and left without causing a fuss for the staff as there was only 2 working and I felt they should priories their time on the customers that were present otherwise they would of been waiting a lot longer for the service. Very disappointed I can safely say I won’t be rushing back here in a hurry

I arrived to this bar Fri, 18 March at 15.30 and asked for a single table to order food and drink. The restaurant was hardly half full. I was told that all tables are reserved and there isn't any availability. The barman confirmed the status. Five minutes later and after I ordered a drink, the waitress told me that there is a free table. I sat and ordered food and when I left, there were more tables available. one room was completely empty. I have been using this place for the past thirty years as my local. Although the food is fine , however the management has been in the last few years. Consequently, I prefer visiting the old mill which is about 4 miles further away. The chef is better and the people are more friendly. Well done old mill

I visited the bear in last night with my family and what a lovely experience I had. Kerri was our waitress and she was so attentive and polite. I could go as far as saying one of the best experiences we have had as a family while eating out. We normally feel as if we are in a rush when having a family meal and it was such a pleasant change. We have visited before however the new staff memebers are a huge improvement to the restaurant. We will be booking again soon!

Been lucking forward to my Sunday roast at the bear with my wife and daughter. My wife and I ordered Sunday pork roast and my daughter ordered beef. When they were placed in front of us unfortunately all I could see was a heated up frozen meal from Iceland. Very disappointing. But it got worse, the meal in front of us was only warm , and had to be sent back to be heated up. The roast potatoes were soft and had no colour to them what so ever and the dead looking vegetables were unedable. I have been here on numerous occasions where the food has been great so I won't let one bad meal put me off.

We had a wonderful evening here - not for the first time. The food was excellent, as we expected. In particular we thought the serving staff were superb. They were attentive and engaged with us to make sure we had a good experience. We were served by Ronnie, who was a credit to herself and to the Bear. Unreservedly recommended.

Went for brunch today with some friends. There is so choice on the brunch menu compared to other places, something for everyone. We all had different dishes and all looked and tasted amazing. Will definitely be back!

This restaurant is very good. The location is good to find, there are enough parking spots and inside the restaurant looks and is very cozy. The waiters are very friendly and nice. The food is excellent and also the prices are fair.

Came for Christmas Day dinner 2023. Can’t fault the staff or the place. Straight to our table. Food was terrific and staff couldn’t do enough for you. We’ll definitely be back soon and certainly for Christmas Day 2024. Well done!

Not sure what happened today.. Sunday Trio of roast not up to usual quality... Food not the hottest... Beef tough, but when asked how the meal was, the beef was replaced straight away.. Deserts were very good.... Service very good.. Just a little below par today.. But we are all entitled to an off day...

Visited for Sunday lunch,no mash with the roast and only one carrot and one parsnip. Paid extra for cauliflower cheese which was hard and had watery cheese sauce on and pigs in blankets which was two long grey sausages with a tiny piece of bacon around them. Service very slow had to ask for the bill even tho it was empty and the waitress stood talking . Dessert was nice and well presented and the pub is very cosy. Sadly I wouldn't rush to return

Booked in for Boxing day, all went through and a day later it seems somebody’s been on the system to decline it. Glad we went elsewhere, was only coming due to it being so local and not wanting to leave the village. Used to be a lovely place, gone downhill.

As always, The Bear, at Berkswell, was a most enjoyable place to call into for a drink after our local walk. Plenty of atmosphere in this ancient public house. Oak timbers, an open fire, Greene King's Abbot Ale amongst other beers, and good food on the menu too. Many thanks to John, the landlord. Superb!

Had a meal yesterday, my partner had a curry, the food itself tasted ok, the only thing she noticed was how hot the rice was, absolute piping hot to point it burnt her mouth, almost as if it had been re-heated In a microwave, unfortunately she has been quite sick overnight, I'm not categorically stating it was the food we were served but it was the only thing she had eaten that day other than cereals. We have Been a few times over the past few months and the food seems to have gone down hill, I took my mum and stepfather for a meal here at the beginning of July, I told them how nice the food was at the Bear, unfortunately on that occasion my mum's vegetarian burger came out stone cold, she returned it, then 10 minutes later another came out ,this time it was burnt. I'm not sure if management or the chefs have changed ??? Shame because it was our favourite local and now we will think twice about eating here again. On the plus side The pub itself is lovely, as are the staff at front of house. I'd recommend having a drink here but I'd avoid the food.

Great pub and atmosphere. I held a car show and I only had positive comments from all my Lexus SC club UK members. Thanks and can't wait till the next one.

Went for a belated work lunch with colleagues. Food was lovely, everything was pre-ordered and we received the meals a reasonable amount of time after being seated. Service was great, so can't fault anything, will definitely go again.

A very comfortable pub but can get very busy if in doubt phone first. The staff are very polite and well mannered.toilets are clean and well looked after. Car parking is free and you can always find a space. The food is nicely cooked and presented. There are road works in the area HS2 railway causing some inconvenience.

Burger was very good, cooked to perfection. The only downside that they didn't want to serve outside in the beer garden. Got that sorted 👌

Top quality food at a very reasonable price, especially during their weekday evening deal. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend!

Tables outside we're dirty, not serving food outside but no signs to let you know and we only taking bookings, you can order a drink for outside seating. I have eaten inside before and it was very nice, manager mentioned that two staff were off with covid so maybe that's why the outside tables looked like they needed a wipe. Manager said they were not serving outside because of a wasp problem which is fair enough.

Only called in for a drink halfway through a walk but staff were friendly and helpful. Also fairly busy but well spaced out. We sat outside in the garden area. Would recommend.

Lovely service. Nice menu. Lost a star for veggie/vegan choice. The Bear retains its charm and reputation. Loved the young happy staff.

Always enjoyed a meal at Bear inn but after this visit, I felt that the quality of the food was quite poor. it’s described as “triple-cooked chips” on a menu but it looked and tasted just like normal chips fried once from frozen. And everything else were too salty and steak was very dry. I’m very sad to say but won’t be going again. Hoping improvement as I like the atmosphere and very friendly staffs:)
