First time eating at a Wetherspoon. Late breakfast special ends at 1130. We had the large breakfast and a normal vegetarian with a coffee to add. Both extremely large portions, poached eggs were cooked great and the hash browns were crispy and had nice flavor to it. Was pleasantly surprised you never know with breakfast food sometimes it is iffy. They also have unlimited refills on tea and coffee and they have their own machine to the side so you can serve yourself. Nice quiet atmosphere and the staff were all very pleasant! Will be returning it looks like a staple. 5/5

Very nice Wetherspoons in central Coventry. The staff were very friendly and the food was good and was served quickly though we were there in a quiet night. Plenty of places to sit, big open modern style of bar, they had a few fruit machines as well.

Oh my what a lovely experience. Walked in, barman was attentive and polite and even acknowledged me whilst serving another customer. Ordered a large breakfast without a mushroom. Now anyone who has ever eaten in a wetherspoons know that food can be hit and miss but it started well when it turned up without the mushroom. The beans were actually piping hot and those that eat breakfast know that this is a rarity. Both eggs had a runny yolk and the gash browns were crispy on the outside and gorgeous on the inside. All in all the best breakfast I've ever had in a wetherspoons and I've had many all over the country. Hats off to the chef.

Lunch time midweek visit to The Spongate. Ordered an American burger ,a small offering (think happy meal size)Bland and texture of mulched cardboard accompanied by 2 slices of cucumber and a quarter tomato. My guest'ssteak was sent back aa undercooked .I did raise my concern with a waiter who left without resolution requiring me to seek him out a second time. This should have been dealt with first time .I had to request a refund of my uneaten meal.Steak was returned rather than a fresh one being prepared. A first and disappointing visit to this establishment.

Love this place! Went here with a few friends, staff were great, food and drinks arrived quickly and bathrooms are surprisingly clean. Definitely looking forward to my next visit!

Probably the best spoons in the city, a good selection of ales, less nutters than the city centre pubs, with a decent food service to boot.

Called here after the ice hockey for food and drinks. The usual great selection of real ales was available. The food was good as always. The place was clean and tidy. Called in for breakfast the following morning too.

Good place on general with fair prices for drinks and food, but also some music to move in the evenings. We went there with friends another day. When we were planning to leave more came, so we spent another couple of hours there... Surrounded by clubs everywhere, so no problems to change a place if you don't fancy this one

There was a bit of a mess up on the staff's part. Booked a table for after a funeral then they removed the reservation before we got there. They pulled it back by putting some tables together in a different location. To be honest, even though at the time it felt like the world had ended, due to high emotions from the funeral, it turned out better. We were out the way and the staff couldn't do enough for us. The food was lovely and very well priced. For 8 of us with drinks it came to around £85. Will be returning!

As usual The Spon Gate was excellent. A typical Wetherspoons pub, sensible prices paid here for your choice of quality beers, wines, spirits and food. Staff are considerate and thoughtful. Well done Tim Martin and thank you for providing the general public with such a fair option for eats and drinks.

check your bouncers. accepting 17 year olds? that literally said they're seventeen and still allowing them to get alcohol? actually insane. very dirty and disgusting. the bouncers are beyond rude and straight up nasty, saying weird things to customers ? Don’t go there for your own sake. You will be met with rudeness and unacceptable behaviour from the bouncers. Very degrading.

I guess it depends when you go and age. However have a sneaky feeling if you come late at night then expect a totally different clientele and age group. But it's warm and I mean warm, ideal winter time. There is an outside area for us smokers which is protected from the elements and more than sufficient.

It made a change to visit the other side of the town and was impressed. The staff were all very friendly, the menu and food good, my husband enjoyed his craft pump pint and the toilets were easily reached, no stairs to climb. We shall visit again.

The food was excellent so much better than at Bedworth Wetherspoons, it tasted great, was piping hot throughout and served quickly we were even asked if everything was okay. They were constantly cleaning the tables and service at the bar was efficient. Just couldn't fault the place.

Each time I've been the DJ has left a lot to be desired. Really awful DJ to be honest. Most bouncers were professional, one was extremely violent unnecessarily (almost broke an inebrianted guys neck), so watch out for a short sober anger issues "bouncer" called Mike. The waitresses and waiters were great. Good, kind and patient. The establishment was a little bit filthy. And given that it was an early Saturday evening with no toilet roll was rather inconvenient.

Not the usual 4 star experience, demotion to 3 Stars. You lot are WAAAAY too tight with your roasted vegetable portion!!! My daughters both work for Wetherspoon, I KNOW HOW THE PORTIONING WORKS, shame on you!!! ...

Wings was horrible. The loaded fries were literally nothing but chips and the pizza was burnt. Gave it a 2 cos we came and had music from the club next door to keep us entertained

The fish was over cooked and the batter was dark brown. Chips were cold and peas were luke warm. Long wait at the bar and customers still pouring in.

Great place to go for pre drinks for the club next door, JJs. I went in the daytime, however, and still enjoyed a good meal. Quite cool art theme on the walls.

Felt stifled, hot and humid, no air flow beer a bit too warm, staff were nice though, food was served quickly and hot. Toilets worse than usual for a wetherspoons

Not the 'spoons fault in walking directions from Google- which were terrible - so getting there was a pockle for someone who doesn't know the area. The food was hot, quick and as expected. What I love about a 'spoons - you know what you're getting!

The bouncers are unbelievably disrespectful, letting 17 year olds in and then inappropriately grabbing a young woman because they couldn't get their leg over. I haven’t felt so disgraced and hurt by someone’s behaviour before going there. I was out with my friends buying drinks and then all of a sudden a particular bouncer grabbed me and dragged me out without explanation. Please don’t go here if you want to keep your dignity. The level of unreliability from the security makes it one of the worst for you to enjoy and have a good time with your loved ones.

The security has arbitrely decided that my friend was too drunk and escorted him out of the premises. Neither him, my other friend or me have caused any problems, did not make a mess, did not harass anyone, we just bought a few drinks and went on the dance floor when it opened. If you decide to visit, pray you won't be randomly picked by security.

Great food, great prices and great service. Would prefer there to be some background music but overall nice place.

Me and my partner plus a few others was there watching England game. Got there at 1230pm After 1 hr 30 min in, a member of staff approached our table with our 3rd drink! My partner who has huntingtons was sat next to me, and was told he wasn't allowed another drink! To which we all asked why, they said it was because he was drunk! Which he wasn't. We explained his condition and they left us to carry on watching the game. Again another hour later, 2 security approached our table, where we was sat doing nothing wrong, having a laugh with our friends, and said we wasn't allowed any more drinks. At this point I was made very upset by what they was saying! We had not been disrespectful in any way, but they accused me of slamming a door on someones face, completely not true then accused my partner of falling over someone, which he hadnt. We had been dat at the table. We had already explained his balance issues, it was totally disgusting how we was treated. We hadn't been loud or been disruptive in any way! Approaching someone's table like that, not once but twice is utterly wrong! To completely disregard someone's condition, and treat him like a drunk! Absolute joke. Will never be going there again. Staff need to be trained in knowing the difference l. So upsetting.
